MISSION- High Tide

The moon is out, the tides are swelling, and the fish are jumping! Get down to the shore and catch yourself a water pokemon!

It was getting late in the day and I decided to do a mission before the day was through. “Let’s hope I pass it on the first try this time,” I said to myself. I went down to the mission board immediately and looked at the available missions. I didn’t think I could do level 2 missions yet so I decided to go with High Tide. I could use another water pokemon. After some serious debating I decided to take my treecko and plusle with me on this one. It would be good for them. Especially my treecko. I was excited to find out what he could do when his powers were under control. I headed out the door and made my way to Petalburg city. I knew the guy that lived right outside of the city. I had borrowed his boat before. I sent out my plusle and made my way down the road. Somehow I made it to Petalburg without having to battle any wild pokemon. I was shocked. “I never get that lucky,” I said to plusle. I made my way out of the city and could see the oceanfront cottage in the distance. It was a ramshackle little house but it made him and his wingull happy so it didn’t bother me. I rapped on the door repeatedly until someone answered. The old man came to the door and let me in. “ I need a favor,” I asked him.

“What would that be?” He asked.
“I need to borrow your boat so I can go to slateport. It’s important.”
“No problem. Just bring it back in one piece”
“Thanks a lot. I owe you one.” I said and grabbed the keys. I headed out the door and hopped into the boat. Plusle jumped up and sat in the chair next to mine. I started the boat up and it roared loudly. “Sounds good to me. How ‘bout you buddy?” I said to plusle. He just looked up at me and nodded. We took off from the dock and were going at a good pace. “We should be there in no time,” I said to myself.

We pulled up to slateport at about 11:30. It took longer than I expected but we got here safe nonetheless. As I got out of the boat I realized that trainers were all over the place. It was almost overwhelming to see how many there were. It was hard to believe it was the middle of the night. I decided to see if any of them had rods I could borrow for the night. I talked to three people who decided that I wasn’t “good enough” to let me use their rod. I offered to battle but they all declined. I was getting pissed. These people had no right to criticize me like that. Damn them all! I was walking in the water when I came across this young boy. He had to be 10 or 11 but he had a rod and that’s all that mattered to me. I approached him and asked him politely if I could borrow it. He looked up at me and stared for a couple seconds then bolted off. He returned with an older man and an older woman who I assumed were his parents. For some reason the kid thought I was harassing him. His parents sent out pokemon and I sent out mine. The woman had a Marill and the dad had an Azumarill. “This could be fun,” I thought. I sent out my Treecko. Plusle jumped in too. The battle was on.

The marill rushed at plusle with a rollout attack. Plusle jumped and almost dodged. Marill snagged plusle’s foot and brought it to the ground. It got up and hit marill with a quick attack. Marill got up quickly and used the same attack on treecko. Azumarill used bubblebeam and hit plusle. Treecko jumped and dodged the attack from marill and came down hard with a pound attack. Marill bounced off the ground and landed a couple feet from treecko. Plusle recovered and used spark on azumarill. It was a direct hit, which brought azumarill to its knees. It got up after a couple seconds and rushed at plusle. Marill ran at treecko and hit him with a hard tackle bringing treecko to the ground. Azumarill grabbed plusle and used strength, sending plusle flying. It landed in the water so it was able to get up quickly. He used growl to try and weaken azumarill. Treecko recovered from the tackle attack and jumped on azumarill. It latched itself to azumarill’s body and quickly used absorb bringing azumarill to its knees once more. Marill came at plusle with another rollout attack but plusle jumped and used spark. It immediately stopped marill and brought it down. Marill struggled to get back up. It used defense curl. Plusle used quick attack on marill. It hit dead on but it didn’t knock marill out. It was hanging on by a thread. It tackled plusle to the ground but didn’t have enough energy to hit it hard. Azumarill came at treecko with a tackle but treecko dodged once more and used quick attack. Azumarill turned around and hit it with a water gun, which stopped it in its tracks. It used tackle again and hit treecko. It didn’t do much because treecko got right back up and used absorb again. Azumarill was brought down hard. It didn’t get back up this time. Azumarill was knocked out. Plusle used quick attack on marill one last time knocking it out. The family returned their pokemon and the boy let me use his rod.

I walked up to the water and went knee deep. I cast the lure and waited. After a while I got a bite. I tried to reel it in but it was hard. I couldn’t seem to get it. I battled it for a long time just trying to bring it in. After letting it out then tightening the line again and attempting to reel in whatever was on the other end, I finally got it. I reeled in a tentacool. I sent out plusle even though he was weak. Plusle used quick attack and hit tentacool dead on. Tentacool came back and wrapped up plusle. It squeezed hard and let plusle go. Plusle used spark and hit tentacool again. It tried to get plusle with a poison sting but he dodged and used thunder wave. Tentacool launched the attack again. It hit plusle almost knocking it out. Plusle used spark one more time and knocked tentacool out. I sent out a pokeball. It absorbed tentacool in a red light then closed. The pokeball hit the ground. It shook once. Twice. Three times. Tentacool was caught. I returned the rod to the little boy and boarded the boat with my pokemon. It was early morning before we got back to the outskirts of Petalburg City. I sneaked in to the old man’s house, dropped off the keys, and left. I decided to hit the pokemon center before I left the area. I caught some sleep while my pokemon healed. The sun was starting to come up as I walked up to the Aqua HQ. With my pokemon refreshed we were ready to start the day.

*Once a good ways away from the city, the three gather near an empty beach*
Jasmine: This should be a good place, don't you think?
Ike: I think so.. *Looks around at the empty beach. He then grabs Jirachi's ball and releases it. Jirachi just sank from the air into the sand, looking depressed*
Jasmine: Oh, you poor thing... *Walks over and neals down next to Jirachi*
Jirachi: *Looks up at Jasmine and studies her carefully*
Jasmine: It's ok. ^_^ I'm only going to check you for any signs of unhealthiness, is that ok?
Jirachi: *Sits still, still studying her. Jasmine picked up Jirachi and started performing massage-like exercises on Jirachi. Jirachi started to laugh from being ticklish*
Jasmine: Hmm... nothing here... *Sets down Jirachi, but Jirachi stood on its little feet and wanted to be held again. Jasmine stood up again and looked at both Kwchups and Ike* How do you train Jirachi? What's its diet like?
Ike: Uh, well Jirachi rarely battles, and eats normal pokemon food like the rest of my partners...

*off in the distance, to people were hiding behind a bush with pairs of binoculars. Both were focused on the crowd on the beach*
Person1: Thats it alright. It has to be!
Person2: *Speaks like having doubts* Well, we are close enough to the lakefront... maybe it is- *is cut off*
Person1: I know it is! This will give us that big promotion! And maybe even better pokemon!
Person2: Well... *takes a second look at the crowd on the beach* If it isn't what we're looking for, I'm sure Commander Saturn will still give us brownie points for a rare pokemon!
Person1: That's the idea.

It was early morning and I had just gotten back from my last mission, high tide. My pokemon and I were well rested so I decided to go out and do another mission. I looked at the mission board for more level one missions since I didn’t know whether or not my rank allowed me to do level 2 missions yet. Plus I didn’t think I was ready for a level two mission but that was just me. I decided to take my totodile and my baltoy with me this time. Baltoy hadn’t been on the last couple missions I went on and totodile skipped out on my last one so I decided some fresh air and exercise would be good for them both. I grabbed their pokeballs and stuck them both on my belt. “Let’s go guys,” I said to them despite the fact that neither of them could hear me. Either that or I was thinking out loud AGAIN. I really needed to stop doing that. I headed out the door toward route 111 North to Lavaridge. I figured I would stop there before I hit Mt. Chimney.

I reached route 110 from Slateport and decided to make my journey a whole lot faster. I hopped on my bike and headed up the bike path. I was speeding along when all of a sudden I started passing caution and detour signs. I stopped a fellow biker to try to figure this out. “What’s going on?” I asked her.
“The cops are stopping all bikers up ahead. You might want to turn around,” she replied.
“Why?” I asked. I was getting interested now.
“Apparently the bridge is out. A bunch of Voltorb and Electrode somehow managed to make their way up here and saw the bikers passing. They felt threatened and used self-destruct. Now there’s a bunch of huge holes in the bridge up there,” she said.
“Thanks but I’m going to go check it out. Thanks a lot for all of your help miss,” I told her.
“No problem,” she replied and sped off down the path. Now that I knew the whole story I was extremely curious and excited to see exactly what happened. After sneaking my way across police line after police line I finally managed to get as close as I could to the scene. The woman was right. There were holes everywhere. In the asphalt o the bridge and even in the concrete barriers on the sides of the bridge. A police officer spotted me and I played it cool. “What are you doing son?” he asked me in a serious tone. The officer had a strong southern accent. It would be fun to mess with him but I decided it would be better if I didn’t.
“Just checking out the scene of the incident sir,” I told him. He was the only one on scene at the moment.
“Well you realize you have passed a police line which means I’m going to have to take you in,” he told me in a firm tone. He reached behind him for his handcuffs but by that time I had already pulled out my pokeball. I backed up and held my pokeball out, making sure he was aware that I had it. He grabbed a pokeball and held it in his hand. I laid out the rules. “I win you let me go. If I happen to lose you can take me in,” I shouted.
“Sounds good to me,” he shouted back. He grinned and sent out the pokeball that he was previously holding. A growlithe popped out. It was pretty predictable since most cops had a growlithe. I sent out my pokeball next and totodile popped out.

Growlithe ran at totodile. It used take down and knocked totodile to the ground. It bounced off totodile and hit its head on the asphalt. It got back up though. Totodile recovered from the attack and charged at growlithe and jumped on its back. Totodile chomped down hard on growlithe’s skull sending a yelp of pain through the air. Growlithe shook totodile off and used ember. Totodile used water gun to block the attack. Growlithe charged at it again but totodile dodged and used water gun on growlithe. It fell to the ground but slowly got back up. It used leer on totodile to drop its defense. Totodile looked around to try and tell what just happened. Growlithe took advantage of his guard being down and used take down on totodile again. Totodile hit the ground and growlithe bounced off and it the concrete barrier on the side of the bridge. Growlithe was out. I returned totodile to my pokeball and started to quickly make my way back to my bike. I hopped on and started to sprint until I couldn’t see the police line anymore. I exited the bike path and made my way up to Mauville city. I decided to lock my bike up at the pokemon center and head to Lavaridge on foot. It would be easier that way.

After a long hike up route 111 I could finally see Lavaridge. It was a beautiful sight. After I made my way into the city I found the pokemon center and healed my totodile. I sat on the bench and played with my baltoy until it was time to leave. I headed out the door and out of the city. I headed further up route 111 and into the cable car station for Mt. Chimney. I sat in the car and waited patiently for it to make its way up the mountain. As I sat there I started to think how bad it would be if any of Maxie’s goons from team Magma were there. Fortunately for me, when I got up to the top of the mountain I couldn’t see any so I decided to enter the fiery path. As soon as I walked in I was smacked in the face with a burst of hot air. I immediately started to sweat. After walking for a while I finally ran into a wild numel. I sent baltoy out for this one. Baltoy used rapid spin and sped towards the numel. It was hit but not hard. Numel came back with an ember attack. It hit baltoy and made it spin. Baltoy lifted numel up off the ground with confusion. Numel was lifted almost to the ceiling and was dropped. Upon landing numel used magnitude. The cave started to shake and rocks fell from the ceiling. Baltoy used confusion again and sent them behind it. Baltoy used harden to raise its defense just in case numel tried something. Numel hit baltoy with a tackle attack and rammed it into the wall. Luckily baltoy had used the harden attack so it didn’t hurt as bad. Baltoy used mud-slap on numel and knocked it to the ground. Numel got back up again though and used ember. Baltoy actually dodged it that time. It used rapid spin one more time on numel. He attempted to use ember to stop it but nothing worked. It hit numel hard sending it sliding across the cave floor into a rock. I took this opportunity to throw a pokeball at the wild numel. The pokeball opened and absorbed numel in a red light and enclosed it within the pokeball. It hit the ground and shook once. Twice. Three times. Numel was caught. I made my way out of the fiery path and to the cable car. I took it all the way down them mountain and started down the road. I stopped in Mauville to get my bike and heal my pokemon. From there I rode all the way back to Aqua HQ. Mission accomplished.

I was happily enjoying the view from the top of Sunnyshore City's Lighthouse when I heard my TADS sounding from my bag. It was an alert from HQ warning me that several ungraded missions were piling up on the board. As I called up the missions and started reading, I realized the first two were actually from the same member. Therefore, I decided to grade them both at once.

*UPS man delivers knuxy in a box to the base*

Jasmine: *Folds her arms and gets a perplexed look on her face* Hmm... *Gets an Idea and slowly starts to smile. She starts to stretch and sigh, but she seemed to be faking it* Boy, I sure do wish I could have a bottled water! Don't you Kwchups?
