@Sanzo: Well... it's a double-edged sword, isn't it? How much knowledge can you have in an area before you're no longer innocent with regards to it? To go Biblical, one might say that Adam and Eve were innocent until they partook of the Tree of Knowledge. smile

Ah and see that's where my issue stems. That Biblical story, unfortunately, seems to suggest to a lot of people that seeking knowledge is a bad thing. Look at the story, the minute they acquired knowledge they were kicked out of Eden. Knowledge is also something that should be strived for, something that is highly important. Yet the Catholic Church has a history of damning and excommunicating and even calling things blasphemous if it delves into knowledge that had not been known before.

You mean like Copernicus, Da Vinci, Caravaggio... pretty much anyone who bothers to think for themselves and find themselves on a different path than that of the Papacy? wink
And with Adam and Eve, I'd say it wasn't so much the seeking of knowledge as it was specifically doing what they had been told not to do. Even with a little serpentine temptation. biggrin

@Roland poor thing, are things moving a little more smoothly now at least?

@aretoo, I'm pretty sure it wasn't just them not doing as they were told but putting out ideas that were not sanctioned by the church. Which I guess means you're right in a way. I just have a huge problem with the idea that "hey we're the Church we can't be wrong and if you try to prove that we're wrong you're going to hell" And well one way to do that is by acquiring knowledge. As for Adam and Eve, I find it bothersome that God forbid them from eating/obtaining knowledge.

I am going to have to agree with Sanzo on the subject concerning the biblical stuff, I don't care too much for the contradictions and outragious ideas of the church.

They didn't need it. He gave them everything that they required, so by seeking out that knowledge they were showing ingratitude towards God. Despite the fact that God put the ******** thing there knowing full well that Eve would be tempted and would eat of the fruit. Knowing full well that he would end up banishing humanity into the world which we now know. Knowing full well the problems that it would create.
Seriously, God is like a 13 year old playing The Sims that just realized that you can lock the little people in a house by removing all the exits and force them to light things on fire....

xd I love the ninja text by the way Tsuji. I personally believe that God is a loving being who takes care of us which is why I refuse to take that story literally. Also WHY I have issues with that story. Why put something there if you don't want people to have it. Not only that but curiosity is part of innocence... isn't it a given they were going to eventually eat it? And then God bans them in the story, which he should've known he was going to have to do in the beginning!!
