Ryuu: His family are really close friends of my family. Oddly though, his mom doesn't like us going out.

First I need to give you some background: JD's dad/her husband died in January. It has hit his mom really hard.
Her reasons:
I'm going to ruin his future by getting pregnant
We are only dating because his dad died (not true at all)
He's too busy to have a girlfriend
My friends have bad reputations
I'm the older woman.
...and probably others
Reality:
We're terrified of pregnancy and don't want to rush into anything because of our already close friendship.
We were both afraid to tell the other how we felt because we were afraid the other would think it was because of his father's death.
She loads him up with chores and errands so he has to cancel plans with me.
She believes all the gossip she hears from people about my friends.
I'm only 11 months older than him, which isn't anything to fuss about.
I think the main part of it is she feels I'm taking him away from her or something. A lot of people think its cause no woman will ever be good enough for her son. And she's a prude.
