Artemis screeched when the Aipom's claws tore into her not once but four times, leaving little gashes in her chest and stomach. Desperately flapping her wings, the Swellow lifted herself into the air once more, putting some distance between her and the Aipom.

"It's fast," Keegan remarked, now keeping his focus fixed on his opponent's Pokemon. "Especially after that Agility..." he trailed off, closing his eyes for a second to think. The cheers from the crowd were quite distracting, and he did his best to pretend that it was just he and Roland, having a battle somewhere out in the open, with no one around them. His green eyes opened wide then, and he thrust a finger in the direction of Aipom. "Artemis! Steel Wing! Go!"

Another loud trill escaped the Swellow's throat, and once again she sped downwards, spreading her wings apart as she came in for the attack, each wing shining with a metallic hue.

Ky's bedazzling smile was good to see, of course, but its brilliance puzzled the fifteen-year-old somewhat. Was there some good news? . . . Coming from the shower?

M.A. curiously noted the color in the boy's cheeks but subconsciously passed it off as simply the flush your face has when you hit cool air after a hot shower. No big deal; consequently, she didn't really regard it as much. "Hey!" the brunette greeted in return, grinning in welcome.

Her head tilted as her friend spoke, sensing the hesitancy. "I do, but only if you want to share it," she said, feeling somewhat glad that Ky would trust her with something like this. "But how 'bout we grab some sandwiches and have ourselves breakfast outside?" Although she was smiling kindly while she was turned in Ky's direction, when she briefly glanced backwards as casually as you might imagine, it was an entirely different story. Believe me, this girl can shoot fire-coated ninja stars out of her eyes, and she was certainly doing so to those nosy, judgemental trainers. Keep yo' eyes and yo' opinion to yo'self, the hidden, quarrelsome/viciously opinionated side of M.A. snapped through that piercing gaze.

Giovanni merely stood there, blinking at the Ampharos in front of him. "You're...that idiotic creature that belongs to that boy..." He reached over and picked it up by the scruff of his neck. "Don't you have enough brain function to realize when you're somewhere you're not supposed to be?!" Still holding him (quite tightly, too), Giovanni brought him into his office then moved out to the balcony overlooking the Gym's arena. "You! Mike! Recall your...creature!" he held him up higher, growling a bit.

Linalee had been with Biff and Carley for the remainder of the evening. Locked up, but at least not tide to a chair. And they seemed to be debating over taking her with them on their little heist.

"Well I don't see why we can't drag that stupid girl along. We'll need both uv us and we can't leave her alone to tattle on us." Biff said gruffly. "And I"m saying she'll get in the way and have us captured!" Carley responded. "Well I don't think we have to worry about a disturbance. We've got her pokemon and she won't do anything untill we give them back." Biff responded. "Agh. Fine, we'll take the brat but don't say I didn't warn you!" Carley said annoyed.

The two opened up the room they had shoved Linalee into. "Okay kid you're coming with us. Be a good little girl and don't do anything stupid or else." Carley threatened. They pulled her into their jet black car, probably stolen, and drove off. After a few minutes they pulled up in the woods overlooking a quaint little home out near the edge of town.

"Aipom! Dodge!" Roland called out, but he underestimated the Swellow's speed, and the Long Tail Pokemon couldn't get out of the way in time, taking another solid hit from Artemis. Aipom was sent skidding across the floor, and he didn't get up as quickly this time. He's pretty good, Roland thought, casting a quick glance at Keegan. But we're not out yet! "Okay Aipom! Let's show them the power of your Swift attack!"

Grunting, Aipom slowly pulled itself to its feet, heaving a labored breath as it eyed Artemis. Once more, the agile monkey jumped up, slashing the air with his tail. A spray of star-shaped lights followed in its wake, each heading for their target with steadfast accuracy.

No matter how hard Artemis tried to avoid the oncoming Swift, the stars would veer off course and follow her every move. Finally, they found their mark, striking one after the other in her chest and stomach. Gasping for breath, the Swellow struggled to stay airborne, as the last attack had done a decent amount of damage to her stamina. Keegan watched her, making sure she'd be able to go on battling before he would issue another command. After a moment or two, Artemis regained her composure, and beat her wings strongly to show she still had strength enough to continue the battle.

"All right Artemis, Quick Attack!" Keegan directed, making a slashing motion with his arm. Artemis loosed another fierce battle cry before diving down towards her opponent, wings tucked safely to her sides as she took careful aim, eyes narrowed. Aipom's Taunt was still in effect, so she still was eager to attack without question.

Ky's smile returned. "That sounds good. I'm really hungry," he said simply. He then turned to the counter. "Nurse Joy, I'm gunna feed Sting now."

"No problem, here ya go," Joy responded, the Pokeball already in her hand.

Ky took it. "Thanks," he said. "Now all I need is Little Guy..." Instead of waiting by Ky's backpack, Little Guy had the urge to play with Ulani as she flew about, though it proved difficult to follow her with his sub-par flying abilities. When he fell behind though, he'd just Teleport to gain altitude so he could glide at full speed again. Ky was happy to see this; he could tell that Little Guy was improving and it would really help towards future battles. "Time to eat Little Guy!" he called out across the room.

Ky then went over to the food station in the back, grinning when he felt Little Guy land on his shoulder and tickle his ear with his beak. He picked up a simple turkey sandwich as well as two bowls of Pokemon food and then waited patiently for M.A.

Whitney was sobbing terribly, causing Rio to squawk intermittently. "Raimundo," she called up, in between sobs and gasps, "please. We have to go back for her, please!" The boy looked down at her from his Fearow. "And do you honestly think that I wanted to leave her back there with him?!" he hollered. "I know how precious that Pokemon is to Nina, and if anything happened to her, can you imagine what a weight would be on my shoulders and how badly that would hurt Nina? I'm her boyfriend, and I'm supposed to protect her from pain like that!" He wiped his eyes with the backs of his hands. "Well then, why were you so damned eager to get away from Anna?!" Rai shook his head a little. "The faster that I got away from her, the easier it would have been! Don't you see? If I stuck around until she physically forced me to leave, it would have been that much harder on me to detach myself from her!" The girl sobbed more; she was getting a headache and she imagined her face was terribly red and tearstained.

The trainers and their Pokemon arrived at the Gym after what literally felt like hours. Whitney dismounted Rio and recalled him into his Pokeball, rushing for the door,
while Raimundo did the same with Fearow after landing. Whitney rushed inside, opening the door so fast and hard that it nearly came off of its hinges-- she spotted her sister with her Pokemon, near the PC in the back of the room-- she saw her recall the five of them a moment later. "Nina!" she screamed, breaking out in a full run, dashing across the entire interior of the Gym, from the doorway across the arena and finally to her sister. "Nina, we ha--have to go! We need to go right now!" She was still crying, and it was a little hard for her to speak. "What? Whitney, slow down!" Nina shrunk back a half-step as she noticed just how shaken the other girl was. "What's wrong? Why do we need to go?"

And thus commenced Whitney's explanation of everything that had happened.

"What?! We can't just stand around here-- I don't care! Maorde's a cyincal, deranged killer, but he's also my father-- he wouldn't do anything to Anna." Whitney stared at her. "Nina, are you insane? How can you say that with a straight face after he tried to kill you?" She didn't know. Truthfully, Nina had only said that because she wanted to believe it. "Listen, we have to get out of here. Maorde knows that this is the place we are at m--most frequently, and I can guarantee that this will be the very first area he searches for the lot of us. We need to put as much distance as humanly possible in be--between ourselves and him."

Sob.

"But, what about Sabrina's Pokemon?" Nina asked. "Aphrodite told me that they can't be withdrawn from or deposited into any PC other than this one! What happens if Maorde comes here and destroys the computer? Then I'll never be able to get her Pokemon back, and she'll be so pissed off at me when she and Professor Elm get back!"

"I have an idea," Raimundo said, approaching both of the girls. "You said that those Pokemon can only be accessed from this PC. Keep in mind that all five of the Pokemon you have with you now can be transferred in between any computer that there is. What if, for a short time, you kept all of Sabrina's Pokemon with you? That way, if anything did happen to this place, they wouldn't be lost forever?" Well, neither she nor Whitney had any other ideas at the moment, so that would be what she went with. Rushing to the computer and logging on, inputting her necessary information-- trainer identification number, password, and PIN-- Nina deposited Serena, Sakura, Aphrodite, and Pookie, but kept out Krystal; this way, she'd still have a Pokemon that could Fly. She sniffled, and withdrew Oracle, Anastasia, Xena, Mimien, and Regal, before shutting the computer down. She snatched Krystal's Pokeball from her belt, and nodded to her friends. "Let's get out of here."

With that, the three of them made their way back toward the door-- they stepped outside while Nina locked it; Hell, a locked door won't stop Maorde from getting in, she thought bitterly to herself. It was starting to rain now, and the three trainers released their Pokemon before hopping onto them and rising up into the air. Before they took off, though, Nina looked off toward Celadon City, hoping to see some type of sign that Anna was headed towards them; that she was okay.

Nina didn't get that sign. She felt water drip along her face, but she wasn't sure if it was just the rain, or actual tears. She choked back a sob.

"Everyone, to Johto. From there, I want to go to Hoenn. Maorde will never think to look for the lot of us there."

Krystal, Fearow, and Rio took off through the sky, heading to the neighboring region.

Nina felt somewhat numb, be it from the cold rain or the fact that her single most trusted companion was currently off fighting the infamous Slayer of Humans at this very moment. Not knowing if her Pokemon was safe was probably the worst part of it all-- had she trained Anna well enough to be able to hold her own against Maorde? Was she capable of accomplishing such a feat without Nina being able to instruct her on what to do and when to do it? Most likely-- Anna wasn't stupid. She seemed to have more wits about her than Nina herself did.

Despite knowing this, though, the girl felt sick to her stomach, and a tad shaken. She wasn't making this visible though, because Whitney was displaying enough emotions for the both of them, and even Raimundo was upset about it. She, at least, had to be the strong one in the group, if just this once. After all, Sabrina wouldn't have left the Gym to her if she hadn't believed Nina had some sort of leadership qualities, so why not apply them to a situation like this?

Well, that was what she was hoping for, anyway. Truthfully, it wasn't easy to be strong in front of other people when there was this fear gnawing away at your insides, making you wonder if everything will turn out the way that you were hoping for them to. But, things would be over soon. She and Whitney and Raimundo would all find a safe hideaway and Anna would come back to them. Then, they'd spend time training to build up their Pokemon's strengths and they'd be able to take on the man that was causing so much terror, and overthrow him.

"Nina!" Raimundo called, looking back over at his shoulder to the girl, the wind picking up and causing rain to smack him across the face. He was a bit ahead on his Fearow, while Nina was somewhat behind on Krystal, and Whitney and Rio were off to the side a little. "When we get to Johto, don't you think that we should rest for a bit? Fearow's already taken flight earlier today, and I know he must be getting tired. Same for Rio-- plus, I don't know about you, but I'm starving!" She chose her words carefully, as she knew that, despite the current situation, Raimundo--if not Whitney too-- still harbored ill feelings toward her for the events that had happened earlier in the day involving Pookie. "I was thinking about that! Maybe we should spend the night in Goldenrod's Pokemon Center for tonight; after all, Maorde probably wouldn't look there immediately! He'd most likely just search around the Kanto region before moving on!" The wind was picking up, making yelling back and forth necessary.

"Are you sure that's a good idea? Hell, Goldenrod's just as big of a city as Saffron is; don't you think he'd think that we'd go there to try to blend in with the crowds of people?!"
"I'm sorry, you're right! What was I thinking? Do you have a better idea?!"
"I didn't mean to make it sound like I was rejecting your idea! I just thought that hiding in a smaller, more obscure place would be better!"
"Okay, fine! We'll go with your idea then! After all, I'm never right, am I?!"
"Nina, please don't start this right now! I'm sorry, okay? We'll go to Goldenrod!"
"No! If you have a better idea, then let's hear it!"
"Please, stop! We really don't need to be fighting right now! I'm going to go to Goldenrod, and in the meantime, the both of you can squabble like idiots, but I'm not going to let Anna's gesture be wasted on the group of us sitting here and debating with eachother while a psychotic murderer is running rampant! Grow up, both of you!"

Whitney choked back a sob. "Hay, Rio! We're getting out of here-- full speed ahead to Goldenrod City!"
As if he were standing on the ground, Rio seemed to sprint through the air in a straight line, bound straight for Whitney's home city.

As they wandered along Route 36, Miharu carefully studied her PokeDex, making sure she was familiar with her Pokemon's abilities. She glanced at Sparkle as they walked, noting that the young Mareep had very few techniques available to her at the moment, but the list looked promising. The duo soon came upon a narrow path, and Miharu tucked her PokeDex back into her bag and stopped walking. "It looks empty, doesn't it?"

Sparkle had stopped walking when Miharu stopped, and she looked around, her tail waving back and forth slightly as she waited. Tilting her head to the side, she continued forward, tossing a glance back at the girl to let her know that there was nothing to worry about.

Miharu chuckled a bit and followed her Pokemon, noting that it looked like something used to be blocking the path through here. A boy, about Miharu's age had been heading in the opposite direction, and he stopped, also surveying the area. "There used to be a Sudowoodo blocking the route," he said matter-of-factly. "A few days ago, someone captured it. Really convienient," he added, looking down as Sparkle approached him, eagerly sniffing his pantlegs.

"I see," Miharu nodded. "Sparkle, leave him alone," she told the Mareep firmly, who then trotted back to her trainer's side.

"Oh, she's all right," the boy shrugged. "I don't mind it at all."

Roland grimaced as the order was given, looking to Aipom fearfully. "Brace for impact, and counter with Iron Tail!" he called out quickly, looking rather nervous as Artemis came in for the attack. The Swellow landed another good hit, and Aipom cried out in pain, but grit his teeth and swung his tail around with as much force as he could muster, the appendage glowing with a silvery hue. His little chest was heaving from the effort, and Aipom slowly slumped to the ground, shoulders shaking with exhaustion. Roland hung his head, eyes closed. "You did great, Aipom," he said, holding up a Great Ball and recalling the battle-worn monkey. "Return, and rest up. You deserve it."

The crowd seemed to be rather excited over the outcome of the first half of the battle, cheering wildly for Keegan and Artemis. They also applauded Aipom's efforts appreciatively, knowing that the little Pokemon had done his very best.

"Okay then, it's time to shine! Let's go, Furret!" Roland called, throwing a white Premier Ball into the air. The Long Body Pokemon burst from its confinement in a shower of pink and gold sparkles. Instead of the dark brown stripes and tawny body the species normally had for colouring, this Furret's body was a pale, whitish pink, while the stripes covering its body were of a violet-red. Her appearance caused the crowd to cheer loudly, as a lot of them had never seen what had become known as a 'shiny' Pokemon before.

"Oh no, I let him wander off because I was too busy battling, agh!" Mike snagged his hair in both hands, a mortified expression accompanying the pain shooting through his scalp. "Where is he?!" In a frantic rush of fright, he whipped around, glaring at two random Rockets who were walking past. Tackling one of them to the ground, the boy snagged his collar. "Where is my Ampharos you thieving b*****d! Where did you take Beacon!?"

The Rocket, who was just a bit older than Mike, stammered and shook under the furious boy's grip. "I don't-who are-WHAT THE HELL IS A BEACON?!" More out of sheer confusion than terror, he wiggled unsuccessfully trying to break free.

"Bark!" A familiar voice cooed. Followed by a gruff order from Giovanni himself.

"Beacon!" Mike cried out, dropping the Rocket on the floor and quickly reaching for the Ampharos' Ultra Ball. For once he was happy to see the boss man. Smiling as the red translucent beam reclaimed his Pokemon to safety, the boy spun on his heel, now facing Kilik. "Okay. Let's get going."

Nina didn't mean to be a jerk-- it just sort of happened. It was a reflex, she guessed. "Listen, Rai, I'm sorry!" she called, before ushering Krystal to move up closer to him and Fearow-- all this yelling was hurting her throat. "I didn't mean to yell at you. If you think that it's wise to hide in a smaller place, then that's fine with me. But, I refuse to leave Whitney alone with Maorde running rampant."
The boy shook his head. "No, it's alright." Sigh. "I understand the methods behind your logic-- if there's a bunch of people around, it'd be harder for him to immediately locate us. If you want to go with your sister, then of course I'll be going with you. I just don't want us to fight anymore, okay?"
She nodded, but didn't say anything. Without really making eye contact for the rest of the flight, the duo found themselves touching down in Goldenrod about five minutes later-- Whitney must have really hauled it to get here before we did, Nina thought. Recalling their Pokemon, she and Raimundo entered the Center, getting out of the pouring rain.

Shaking her head as a Mightyena would to get water off of itself, droplets of the rain flung out of Nina's hair in every which way, some of which splattered Raimundo dead-on in the face. She had hoped that doing so would break a bit of tension in between the two of them. It worked.
"Hey, wh-- gah!" He laughed a little bit as the water attacked his face in a frenzied barrage, eventually shielding himself from it so he wouldn't become even more drenched... if that was possible. "Thanks, Nina. As if the rain wasn't enough of a reason to give me a reason to take a shower, now I've got second-hand water all over me. Very nice." The girl was starting to walk forward as the boy was speaking, but she stopped and turned to look over her shoulder; "I don't know what you're talking about, Rai," she said, a grin and a wink accompanying her statement.

The pair of them walked to the front desk, handing over Krystal's and Fearow's Pokeballs to Nurse Joy. "By the way, Joy, have you seen my sister come by here? We were traveling together but she went on ahead."

"Mhm," the nurse replied. "She asked for a bed for the night, so I told her she could stay in the dormitory, and I gave her some robes since her clothes were sopping wet. And speaking of which, it looks like the two of you could use the same-- there's some free beds if you need them, and robes in the bathroom. I can't allow the both of you to go out again tonight, especially since the rain's forecasted to worsen."
"Thank you, Nurse. It's very much appreciated."

After speaking with them, Nurse Joy stepped out into the back room for a moment, returning shortly after with Fearow and Krystal, handing them back to their trainers and bidding them good-night.
