Got two questions:

Can a tau battlesuit be insta-killed?

And if a battlesuit makes it's 6' assult move into terrain, does it have to take a Dangerous terrain test?
Tau battle suits have four wounds on them. You can't with one weapon, though I have lost a crisis to three space marine squads that were all stationary the earlier turn and blasted my suit with like 30 shots, needless to say, he didn't make it.

I am not sure, a bit rusty on my assault rules, but I don't think so if it has stabilizers, but that wouldn't work because stabilizers don't allow your battle suit to charge. So I would say yes, im not aware of any other wargear they can pack that eliminates dangerous terrain.

what? battlesuits only have 2 wounds. and it didn't awnser my question.

They can be subject to Instant Death! if they are hit with a weapon of twice their toughness and of course gets through their armor.

Boo for lascannons and heavy weaponry that rape Tau.

Here's the question you should ask yourself before you ask us: Does it say anywhere that they are immune to Instant Death?

And yes, if it assault moves into terrain, you must take a Dangerous Terrain test. Unless you are charging, the assault move for Jet Packs is always a jump move.

It would be a lot easier to answer my own questions if I owned a Tau codex, which is why I asked here. (also I don't really trust the Tau player I usually play against to know the right answer)

But anyway, I know the awnser now so hooray.

only thing about the battlesuits, is that they use upgraded T value for instakill, so no insta kill from plasma rifles...

And 36 Plasma Rifle shots will be spectacular!

and I just found out that the tau player I normally fight is cheating! YEAH! He takes two plasma guns on his battlesuit and I found out that you can't do that (and fires them at full range), hooray! my losses were not legit!

That's the third ed fix. They fixed this in the 4th ed codex simply by having Battlesuits have their own statlines rather than counting as a modification to a Fire Warrior's statline. A Crisis Suit's base Toughness IS 4.

Well, he could take a twin-linked plasma rifle. But you're correct, he can't have two separate ones on the same suit.

I need a good Space Marine killing weapon set for my crisis team and Commander. I can usually scathe by against IG using just missile launchers, but that is not working. One they are strength 7 so it isn't insta kill agianst them, and two I have to have line of sight unlike my smart missile system, and three they are only assualt two so I only get 6 shots at a squad of ten. So I was thinking Plasma Rifles and Burst Cannons, or Plasma Rifles and burst cannons. PR are rapid fire, but the suits do't count as moving when shooting them.

Definitely Plasma Rifles, and I'd say keep using the missile pods because they squeeze of three shots and they can do some decent damage if it gets past Space Marine armor. If you were interested in getting close you could use a fusion blaster too, that would rip a Space Marine apart with no problem.

Edit: I'm sorry, missile pods squeeze of two shots.

Yeah I am gonna go PR and Missile Pod for heavier army, i.e. Razor back. And probably use gun drone from now on. Squadron can deep strike and cause enough mayhem to get the suits in decent position to rapid fire them to death. AP 2 rules. Can devestate squads with my six shots. Or I can multi track and fire the missiles get even more. As long as he is rolling. The GW in San Fran and Pleasant Hill are closing, as well as Pleasanton. the nearest one is Tracy. that is twenty minutes awya for me. Well so was Sun Valley and then SF is 2 hours and Stone Ridge mall was 45 min. So I guess it ain't all bad. Actually AP 1 rules. I have been killing my self with some things I always forget. Like AP 1 never glances, and fusion blasters get two d six to pen. Damn that's good. CAUSE THEY AP 1. YEAH!!!
