Bubba laughed as he advanced on the tire pile. Two other of his men had joined him, and together they would exterminate the policewoman, then take Anthony hostage.

Trained and armed better, the Hellz Fire members were slowly overwhelming the Mafia members. More than a little of this was because of Bubba's appearance, and the boost of moral this gave them.

"Give it up, Family Member! That policewoman and that civilian won't protect you!" Bubba shouted, gleefully undermining the Mafia's hold on the police. Bullets filled the air.

It missed, of course. Blind-fire tended to do that.

Bubba laughed as he returned fire; out in the open, taking no time to dodge behind cover, he held a trump card. If his adversaries tried to fire with any accuracy, they would be killed before their hands squeezed the trigger.

"Give up, and you won't die, Anthony. We want you alive."

((Do something about Jasmine's assassinations. She'll be at it again shortly.))

Of course, the other end of the phone would relate how it had been a high caliber round, from a sniper rifle, from across a street, from an apartment building, onto the roof, and the Mafia had had no reason to suspect anything fatal in the night. But they'd have no clue about Jasmine. Or, Alfone, yet.

A subordinate of Tony's soon approached him, having a call that asked specifically about him. On the other end, already aiming for her next target, was Jasmine.

"How rude," came the breathless reply. In fact, Jasmine was leaning outside of a different apartment's window, her Chinese rifle already aimed and leading a target.

"I'll call back once you've had time to think about some manners," Jasmine announced, then fired another shot off into the distance before hanging up.

In a few minutes, another report of Mafia-targeted assassination would reach Tony's ears, this one about an old, retired member who only gave out advice nowadays.

Bubba stopped firing for a moment, though his two men by all means continued.

"If you surrender now, Anthony... we'll spare your lady friends. And... your family."

"You think that the Mafia is all-powerful, Anthony?" Bubba continued, on a roll. "The greatest fear of all is of the unknown. You, the Mafia, you're known. My organization could span the world... you know nothing about us. And we know all about you. How could you know if my men aren't already at your mother's house, with her bound and gagged, waiting to be executed? You have any brothers or sisters? We'll find them. They can all die... I know this. Or you can surrender. Your police cover is blown, anyway, isn't it? Either the police or the Mafia... whichever one you are honest to, the other will rip out your throat. If we don't, first."

((And this is where we wait, for Rose will surely try to change your mind. Or, at least that's what I think. Anyway - I pressed unknown buttons on my keyboard and now the entire BROWSER is tiny tiny tiny. Full-screen, but as if the web pages were made incredibly small. And I dunno how to fix it!!! gonk ))
