I'm not sure that would do anything to a mountain, but that's not my point. I'm not saying that a character couldn't blow up a mountain. I'm saying it would take an immensely powerful character to do so via their own supernatural power. That's my entire point; that a character who could do that would be too powerful for the GTB. Why?
Because the tectonic plates are under immense pressure because they hold up trillions of tons of stone, millions of tons of living life, not to mention what we build. Most tectonic plates are ******** MASSIVE. The tectonic plate for North America takes up the whole area of the U.S., Canada, and a part of eastern Asia and much of the North/west portion of the North Hemisphere.
The amount of pressure an attack would have to generate to actually affect a tectonic plate the size of a continent would be.. well, pretty ******** immense. Even the smallest tectonic plate is larger than Great Britain; so even a small tectonic plate would still be more massive than, say.. you know, the entire arena. You're talking about something several times larger than the world's largest city, something buried under like half a mile of earth and hard stone (or five miles of it, I dunno), which is also made of immensely strong stone.
In order to generate enough force, you're pretty much generating the same amount of pressure as what ANOTHER tectonic plate could do, or the same sort of movement/pressure the earth's mantle can cause. In either case, it's a lot. An attack that could do that would have to be gargantuan in size.
So, theoretical bullcrap aside, even if a character could blow up a mountain via a direct attack, or via initiating tectonic plate movement, the character would be too powerful for the GTB in its current iteration. That's pretty much the whole gist of what I'm saying. Not whether or not a character COULD do it, but whether or not its on the same scale as this tournament. It isn't.
Affecting a tectonic plate would take an even more powerful character than one who could just destroy the mountain by directly attacking it and blowing it up. In either case, the character would be too powerful for the GTB, as per the GTB's rules.
"Level 1 || This is the general human level, encompassing the power attainable by the average Joe and is limited to the most basic of technological weapons, like guns, crossbow and knives—maybe even a scooter if in the wrong hands.
Level 2|| Human abilities at their peak, but still nothing overtly supernatural. Examples would be a genius IQ, very minor spell-casting ability (I’m talking sparking dried brush into flame). Technological objects such as laser guns fall under this level.
Level 3|| Genetic, cybernetic, divine or magical enhancements that allow you to run as fast as a sports car, jump anime style, or bench three-hundred pounds without breaking a sweat—as well as other physical modifications of that level. Dexterity level equal to an expert marksman, low level psionics and spellcasting ability, super-genius intelligence quotient and martial arts master are other examples of Level 3 abilities. Equipment falls under the same range of power."
That's the limit for character powers in the GTB. Blowing up a mountain, or affecting the plate tectonics of a planet (even in a localized manner) is far, far beyond the pale of what is allowed in this tournament, following the guidelines set forth. I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm saying it's too powerful for this tournament.
It would be more suited to something like this:
"Level 7 || Personal shielding and an Imperial Star Destroyer for a flagship; computer expertise that can take down Borg Cubes, and you may have weapons so slick and high tech that they make the ladies hot and bothered. You can distort space-time at will with your magic, enough so to influence events worlds or even years away, and your physical strikes can no longer even be seen. Armies of grizzled veterans--wearing too much steel to stand up on their own—will carry your banner to war and ride really expensive looking horses across the battlefield. You could out gun an Agent in the Matrix or beat him down with your martial arts, and powers and abilities compare to Mace Windu of Star Wars, Ultimecia Final Fantasy, and Hyuuga Ricdeau of Xenogears.
Level 8 || The firewalls of the Death Star and Magi Supercomputers fall with ease before your unbeatable hacking skills. You can repair lost limbs and destroyed vital functions expediently. Your powers can cut down small armies, and shield you from the effects of nuclear weapons. You are no longer merely limited to visiting other worlds and epochs from afar, but may now visit them personally. Powers are of comparable scale to Marvel’s Magneto and Doctor Strange."
MAYBE Level 6, if you're directly attacking the mountain and literally blowing it up piecemeal.
TL;DR: I don't care whether or not it's possible, I'm pointing out that a character who could do so would be too powerful by the GTB's standards. And it would be. A character who can blow up a mountain or affect plate tectonics is a lot more powerful than, say, Ken. Or Iori. Or Sol Badguy. Much, much more powerful. Hence, it's too powerful for the tournament.

Cryovix Look fact of the matter is everyone in this tournament that has supernatural abilities can destroy a mountain. The only catch to that is it'd take like 4 matches worth of energy storage to do so.
So yes I can destroy a mountain. Just wait for round 6 of the tournament before my next attack. Says who? Facetious stuff aside, my character actually can't. He could never survive charging long enough to generate that much force. He can survive charging for ten posts straight. Any longer and he electrocutes himself to death. And those ten posts? It's about 3x the amount required to kill something the size of an elephant. No where near destroying a mountain.

Kazyan Infer Elade A well charged beam of heat piercing the mantle and setting loose a flow of magma while causing tension on tectonic plate in the area should suffice to take down a mountain.... neutral And how do you go about doing that? The Earth's crust is, like, 5 miles deep. I shall answer this with Cry's response. Darth: I dont believe I mentioned this being used in a tournament. sweatdrop [Insert Cry's post here] That was kinda my point. However, Sol is a beast. [Cosplaying as him for nekocon.]

Noted: However, my characters are the litteral embodiment of destructive power that is fire. Well two at least. So it is within their realm to do so after a period of gathering such natural, at least in their case, energy. Likely to have the time to stand around during a match to do so, highly doubtful. Possible given four, one hour long shows where time passing is equal to a few days and everyone else simply gawks at them, quite possible.

Then why were you answering my posts? xd I was talking specifically about whether or not a character who could blow up a mountain would be allowable in the GTB.
I never brought up whether or not it was feasible for a character to do so. Only that such a character wouldn't be allowed in the GTB. So, if I was talking about that, and you directly responded to it, it only lead me to believe that you were talking about the same thing o.O
In any case, it's a moot point then.
EDIT:: Yeah, I have characters who could do it too. I'm sure if I wanted to, I could make an "Epic Level" Deitric who could do it. Like I said, just talking about within the scale of this tournament, though. Nothing outside of it.

Everyone had their large scale fun in GTB anyway. So let's keep such power levels for the history books.
lol I remember back in the first GTB where the entire stadium would be devastated by the attacks of two fighters. As hillarious the first GTB was, it's still memorable.
I plan to illustrate a screenshot for each of the most memorable fights someday.

Infer Elade Im sure I could blow up a mountain if I was playing as Kaine. A ten year old pheonix with temper issues will should do the trick. Only question is will he be awake afterwards. Infer Elade You can easily destroy a mountain. All you have to do is take out its foundations. Or... blow up in a super charged tantrum if you a ten year old brat with firepower. Sadly afterwards the brat would probbaly be sleeping for a while.... a long while. Infer Elade However, my characters are the litteral embodiment of destructive power that is fire. Well two at least. Hey Darth. I'm not talking about a tectonic plate or the planets infrastructure. A mountain in my book is the thing I can see out my window above ground. I never said blowing the planet up, which is to me what your talking about. As soon as you start discussing tectonic plates and the mantle you've looked a lot further into this than I was talking.
Just because a character is CAPABLE , that only capitalized for emphasis, does not mean that they can in tournament. It would literally take far beyond the amount of time granted us in a fight to be able to pull something on that scale.
I never asked you to explain why that doesn't fit into this tournament as it can't and shouldn't. I never said I or anyone else was going to or planned on doing so. I don't care about the actual physics of the act. I'm not even accounting for the fact that in all honesty it would take longer than I stated to achieve what we're talking about. I'm just saying given enough time it could happen.
Now every character is created differently I'm sorry for making the assumption most people had that option. My character can store energy and just keep it stored in his armor indefinitely and without limit. The trade off being physical damage to his person. So for my character when given enough time it is possible but as I previously stated it'd be a suicide attack.

I responded merely for the sake of a friendly discussion on two, somewhat similiar ideas.

So, if I was talking about that, and you directly responded to it, it only lead me to believe that you were talking about the same thing o.O .........that right there is where this argument or discussion or whatever you want to call it spawned from. Everyone but you seemed to be discussing it as a possibility bro. This was not intended to be serious at all.

The only time I brought up tectonic plates was when Infer did.
Also; see: Scale. A character who is "capable" of doing so, but "can't" in the tournament means that they really aren't capable of doing so, now are they? Even if they're CAPABLE of doing so outside the tournament, it doesn't matter. Entirely irrelevant, as I already pointed out. Because they AREN'T CAPABLE IN THE TOURNAMENT, which is my point. That a character who was being played as capable of doing so wouldn't be appropriate to the tournament.
I also never mentioned you in my explanations, so I don't know where you get the idea that I was explaining what is or isn't allowed in the tournament for your benefit, because the only person I've responded to directly has been Infer o.O. Someone brought up destroying mountains, all I said was that it wasn't appropriate for the tournament. Infer elaborated, then I did. He did so again, then I did. Nowhere in that series of posts did I quote you or make part of my post(s) out to you.
The one time I responded to you at all was to point out that my character couldn't destroy a mountain (which was just pointing out that not all characters can. with no bearing on the discussion I had with Infer), so I don't know why you're talking as if I've been having a one on one conversation with you about the subject. I'm pretty sure I haven't, unless you and Infer are the same person.

Infer Elade I responded merely for the sake of a friendly discussion on two, somewhat similiar ideas. Cog: I know you from somewhere outside this guild.... Ah. I thought you were rebounding on what I had said, so I was like "wait, wat" xd . Nah, it's cool. It's definitely possible for a character to do so, plenty of characters are powerful enough. I was just bringing up the point about the possibility of such within the tournament. Cyro: Except not. There wasn't a discussion before my post, just a single post by Desi. I posted, then Infer directly responded, and some other people posted. "Everyone but you" is actually "Infer", because he was the only person I had a conversation with on the matter. Everyone's posts came after mine and Desi's, so it would be more like the discussion stemmed from people misreading what I posted, not the other way around. Which, in the end.. doesn't really matter, because he and I, again, were discussing the same topic with differing parameters. EDIT:: Scratch that, both you and Infer had posted before I did, but I didn't directly respond to any of you. I was posting on a different topic, which was just about whether or not it was appropriate for the tournament. So it was more like we had two or three different "threads" of conversation going on that got muddled xd
