Oh, great. The sight of the ferry wasn't in the least bit welcoming, and Keegan silently wondered how he hadn't figured out that a ferry would be getting them to Cinnabar Island. He really didn't want to get on board, as he and water and boats had never mixed well at all, but at the same time, a small part of him insisted that if he were to travel by sea more often, then perhaps he'd overcome his uneasiness of it. Gritting his teeth, he made his way over to the ticket stand and bought one as well, deciding there was no going back now as he watched his own ticket ripped in two. Taking the stub and cramming it into his pocket, he boarded the ferry, wondering how long the trip would be. This boat was definitely larger than Mr. Briney's little boat had been, which made him feel a little better as he stood next to Kasiya, looking at the people around him. No one seemed to be as uneasy as he was, which wasn't a nice thought, but as he looked at the blonde-haired girl and the Mudkip resting on her shoulder, he calmed down considerably, figuring that this trip would be better than the last.
Several other patrons of the ferry dispersed, finding different places to sit, and some even disappearing below deck. Keegan watched as the sailors finished with their duties and got the ship ready to depart, loading the boarding plank before they weighed anchor and the ferry set sail. This is it... you can do this... Keegan told himself, gripping the railing tightly as the boat began to move.

Haku blasted another stream of blue flames at the opposing Pokemon and missed by a long shot once more. Mitsu eeked out a sigh, "C'mon Haku you can do it! Aim just a bit more to the left." Happy to comply the blue seahorse Pokemon fired another Dragonbreath. The flames getting closer this time. The Marill, however, wasn't going to put up with being target practice to this novice of a Pokemon. It fired a stream of water, a Water Gun, at Haku. Natural instincts took over as he dove under the water to aviod the on coming attack. "Good job Haku!" Mitsu said before realizing that she could no longer see either Pokemon.
The fight had gone from the surface to under the depths of the pond. Unknown to the young trainer the two aquatic Pokemon were duking it out under the ripples. Marill lashed out it's flexible tail at Haku who was send tumbling back in the water. The small fins on his back easily manuevered Haku back into a safe position and he shot another stream of the blue flames. Luckily they didn't die under the water as normal fire would have. The stream was more fine lined and less reckless this time. It traveled farthur and grazed the Marill's side. He could see the Pokemon wince.
Mitsu smiled upon spotting the blue flames make the slight contact. "Nice!" she cheered. Haku had been improving since the special training that she had put him through, perhaps he must have forgotten while staying at Professor Birch's laboratory. Either way Mitsu was glad and called out for another Dragonbreath.
Completely in his element Haku shot another Dragonbreath at the target. Marill made no attempt to move as it ran straight into the attack and following through by slamming it's entire weight against Haku's small body. Granted the underwater attack had less force than it would normally on land. The fact that Maril's momentum had been slowed by the Dragonbreath played a keen factor as well. Haku trilled, the attack still packed a punch after all.

Before engaging Maorde in battle, Anna had a thought. What if the Pokemon he was about to use was excessively large? They were only on the second floor, after all, and the Pokemon would likely do severe damage to not only the building, but the residents as well. She quickly shot out the window, landing near the center of the city, hearing Maorde yelling in the distance. Turning and looking back, she saw the man jump out from the second-story window-- he landed with a grace not expected of a man who was centuries upon centuries old. "What, getting unnerved already?!" he yelled, before throwing his Pokeball out in front of him.
If Anna wasn't unnerved enough already, she now had a reason to be. Maorde's Salamence had manifested itself from the Pokeball it was held in, letting out a terrible roar. The man chuckled. "It's cute that you want to protect your friends, Misdreavus," he commented. "I wish I could say that your efforts would actually be worth the strife, though." Not in the mood for talking anymore, Maorde jumped right into battle. "Salamence, Crunch! Don't give her a single instance to attack!" Letting out another earth-shaking roar, Salamence rushed forward, his teeth bared, saliva drooling from the corners of his mouth. The Ghost Pokemon looked terrified-- any attack from Salamence would likely bring about her downfall, but a Dark-type move was the worst! Doing what came naturally, Anna performed a Psychic attack-- her purple aura became prominent, and she was able to overtake Salamence's own aura. While she had little expectations of actually harming him, she was able to freeze him in place for quite a few seconds. It took nearly all of her power just to be able to push the dragon backwards, and flip him onto his back.
Salamence flailed about violently, rolling from side to side to be able to get back to his feet. Anna seized this opportunity to perform the only attack that she knew would deal a serious amount of damage-- Pain Split. A strange energy manifested itself in the form of a ball, before dividing into two and hovering above both Pokemon. It entered their bodies for a moment and then left them just as suddenly as it had entered; a second later, the balls rejoined into one and erupted in a flash of bright light, distributing an even amount of health to both Pokemon. As Anna had used up much of her energy just in trying to stall with her Psychic attack, she was healed significantly, while Salamence felt a great deal of his own health being sapped away. Since he was of a much higher fighting level than Anna, he naturally had more stamina, and since Pain Split evenly divided the stamina of both combattants, Anna was the one who received the benefits.

After a moment's more struggling, Salamence was able to get back to its feet. He looked furious, as did Maorde. "Don't you let that ghost push you around, Salamence! Strike her now-- Aerial Ace!" The dragon stomped on the ground, before rushing forward at the Misdreavus-- Anna knew she'd certainly be knocked out if she were to be struck, and Aerial Ace was an attack that was guaranteed never to miss, no matter what the circumstance. So, all that she had to do was prevent Salamence from getting within striking range of her, and everything would work out-- theoretically. Maybe she could paralyze it. She twirled around in the air like a spinning top, building up a static charge inside of her body, before loosing it at the oncoming opponent. It hit, naturally, but only seemed to irk the dragon, and the paralysis effect was nowhere to be found. If anything, he was slowed down for just a second, but still got to his target. Salamence slashed at Anna with one of his feet, raking his claws across the ghost's body.
And she fell to the ground, her energy instantly gone. Anna knew from the moment that she told Whitney and Raimundo to high-tail it back to the Gym that she wouldn't be able to overcome the Slayer of Humans. She looked up through eyes that were half-closed as Maorde approached her, standing beside his dragon, looking down with a cold smile on his face. "Well, your powers have certainly changed since you were an Alakazam," he said, reaching into his pocket and fishing around for something. "And you still can't take a single hit without terrifying consequences. Heh." The ghost's necklace was flashing. "I won't l...et you get to them, you know. You'll never get to Nina and the others as long as I can pr...otect them."
Maorde found what he was looking for, but his smile grew a little bit at the Misdreavus' comment. "You're most certainly in no place to talk. You hardly lasted five minutes against my weakest Pokemon, and you think you can continue to protect Nina? Hah." Maorde pulled out a small, round object from his pocket. He pressed a button and it enlarged. Squinting, Anna saw that it was a Pokeball, but unlike any other she had ever seen before-- it was entirely black, except it had a single purple dot on the button where Maorde pressed it to enlarge it.
"It's okay, though. I'll have you resurrected back to Alakazam in no time flat." And with that, Maorde dropped the Pokeball on Anna.
He captured her.

Sea travel had never bothered Kasiya, and she placed her hand on top of Keegan's as he gripped the railing for support. "It's not going to take that long," she promised. "We can walk around if you'd like. Some people say that staying in the center of the boat can help if you feel seasick." She peered down into the blue water, and then looked up as Vermilion shrank from their view. While it wasn't the fastest of ships on the sea, it did get the job done, and it really wouldn't be long until they landed at Cinnabar Island. Venturing from the railing, Kasiya made her way along the deck and towards the cabin. Perhaps if they spent the whole journey inside, Keegan would be more comfortable. She opened the door, surprised to find a flight of stairs stretching down below her. Shrugging, the girl made her way down slowly, holding the wall to steady herself. She opened the door at the bottom of the stairs, and was a bit surprised to see the tail end of a battle. A Wartortle ducked inside its shell as a cute, monkey-like Pokemon ran at it, striking the shell hard with a hand-like appendage at the end of its tail. The attack did little damage, and reacting quickly, the Wartortle poked its head out from its shell and blasted a point-blank Water Gun at the attacker. Shaking the water from its body, the Aipom let out an angry growl, and jumped up, slashing the air with its long tail. A spread of star-like objects rained downward, finding the weak spots on the turtle Pokemon even as it tried to withdraw into its shell once more. That attack was the deciding factor, and the cute monkey Pokemon was declared the winner before a crowd of cheering fans. Kasiya found herself applauding as well - she was rather impressed by the Aipom's final Swift attack.

Triumphant over his victory of the vast and difficult stairway, Beacon flapped his appendages blissfully. The simple minded Pokemon trilled loudly, spinning around for a few moments before slipping and landing on his bottom. "Owiee..." Beacon whined, rubbing his backside gently and standing upward. Seeking to continue his ever 'vigilante' expedition, he looked towards the doorway, only to find a rather large, a rather orange obstruction in his way.
Beacon stood in his place, bobbing side to side, his tongue out one side of his mouth.

"C'mon, little Oddish..." Train said, shaking her hand ever so slightly, so the pokemon food moved around a bit. "I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm your new trainer now, so we've gotta try to be friends, ok?"
Oddish took a sniff of the pokefood, but shook her head. "Oddish odd odd-ish!"
Train sighed and put the pokefood away. She pointed to the Geodude. "You see that? We've got to fight that, so you can get stronger! How about it?" She asked her new little pokemon, smiling comfortingly. The Geodude shifted lazily and boredly. "Even ask Pikachu here, being someone's pokemon isn't so bad."
"Pikachu!" Pikachu agreed happily, walking over to Oddish and smiling, holding out his hand in a friendly way. "Pika pi." He said, telling Oddish that it was alright.

Sentret was 'standing' on his tail, watching the Bellsprout. He shited slightly, waiting for Kurine to tell him to use an attack. "Sentret, use Tackle!" Kurine said shortly after, still happy about Sentret having listened to her the first time. Sentret bounced up a bit with his tail, landing back on his feet and running at the Bellsprout semi-quick, and slamming into the grass-type pokemon with some force.
"Be-ell!" The Bellsprout cried as it was hit by the other pokemon, crashing onto the ground. Sentret got up and hopped away to stand in front of Kurine once more. Unhappily, the Bellsprout got up, and faced Sentret.

Ky took a long shower, still not completely awake. It was normal though, since he tended to use this time to think. What was odd though, was that Ky tried to focus on the dream, but for some reason, he couldn't stop thinking about M.A. Memories of her flooded his thoughts. The day they met. The day they fought the Rockets. Each day passed by in his head as if he was meeting her all over again, and it brought a certain happiness that he hadn't felt before. All of his stress seemed to wash away with the soap, and for once he didn't care about the rest of the day, or anything troublesome at all. All he wanted was to finish and see M.A. again. He had also made up his mind. M.A. was being an excellent friend and Ky was keeping secrets. After stepping out of the shower, Ky dried himself, put on his new clothes and sighed. "I'll tell her," he said to himself.
Ky came out of the bathroom with a quickened pace and a beaming smile. Looking around the PokeCenter, he found M.A. near the counter, and his smile widened even more (if that's possible). As he walked over though, his pace slowed and he began to blush. For some reason, M.A. looked way cuter after her shower, and he felt incredibly shy, almost as if he had never met her. Then, taking a gulp of confidence, he spoke up. "Hey... M.A.? Umm..." he started, looking away in embarrassment. "Do you want to hear my dream?" Ky looked around the room and saw other trainers give him odd looks, which weren't helping the jitters he was already feeling.

Keegan followed Kasiya downstairs, peering over her shoulder as she opened the door. His fears about being at sea soon begun to fade as he watched the battle; and he cheering when the final attack was delivered. A good battle could make someone forget almost anything that was bothering them, and he looked on eagerly to see who would be battling next.
The winning trainer grinned and waved at the crowd, his Aipom perched on his shoulder, and waving as well. "Any other takers?" he asked loudly, beckoning to everyone with outstretched arms. His actions were met with cheers, but nobody seemed willing to go forward.
Grinning a bit, Keegan brushed past Kasiya, winking at her as he entered the arena. "I'll battle you," he said, which prompted another loud roar from the crowd.
"All right!" the trainer clapped. "That's what I like to see! A trainer with guts enough to stand up to Roland the Great! Give him a hand, folks!" With that, the crowd erupted into cheers once more, and Keegan smiled; he'd never really been good at this sort of thing, but the fans all seemed to be unbiased, and mostly just hoping to see a good fight. "What's your name, challenger?" Roland asked, reaching up to scratch his Aipom behind the ears.
"The name's Keegan," the redhead replied, looking around the arena curiously. The area wasn't overly large, and it was made up of what probably used to be the cargo bay. People were surrounding them from every angle, and Keegan wondered what (or whom) some of them might have been standing on in order to get a good view. "So, what kind of battle are we looking at here? What are the rules?" he asked.
"Just a normal Pokemon battle," Roland replied earnestly. "Single battle, two Pokemon each. No time limit, but if the battle isn't over by the time we reach the ferry's next stop, the crowd will determine our winner. Sound good?"
Keegan's response was drowned out by the cheers from the fans, so he nodded, and took a position opposite Roland as indicated. Roland took a large, clear vial of a spray-type medicine out of his pocket, and used it on Aipom. Keegan assumed it was a potion of sorts, as the Aipom perked right up and hopped down from his master's shoulder, squaring off against whatever Keegan would send out first.

"That was unexpected..." Kasiya said to Levi quietly, who chirped back in reply. Looking around, Kasiya also stepped into the room, squeezing past a few people so she could watch the battle. She almost wished she had spoken up first, and it would be her facing off against Roland, but she pushed the thought away, deciding that she would cheer Keegan on, perhaps being the only biased fan in the crowd. Levi looked on, her eyes wide. There were a lot of people in here, and Dante and Kasiya's friend was going to have a battle. It went against her nature, but the Mudkip decided to cheer for her friends' friend, even if she didn't particularly like him much.
***
"Let's get this battle started then!" Roland cried, once more beckoning to the fans. Everyone cheered and hollered, waving their arms in anticipation of the upcoming battle. "Send out your first Pokemon, Keegan, and we'll get underway!"
Aipom also was working the crowd, using its long, prehensile tail to wave and blow kisses, provoking more excitement from the many spectators. It seemed quite obvious that he and his trainer did this a lot, and both seemed to get a lot of joy out of it.

Keegan took a Pokeball from the strap resting around his waist, and enlarged it. "We'll give them a battle to remember, Artemis! Let's go!" He sent the sphere spinning out onto the field, and Artemis materialized before them, stretching out her wings and looking around. Keegan felt bad that the Swellow had missed the last two gym battles he'd participated in, and he'd make it up to her now. The battle-loving bird Pokemon trilled happily before flying up, not being a large bird, she had plenty of room to use her wings. She sized up her opponent below her, clicking her beak to show that she was ready.
Looking once to his opponent, Keegan thought for a second before glancing up to Artemis. "Start off with Focus Energy! Get into the fighting spirit!" he called.
Letting out another trill, Artemis did a loop-de-loop, her body shining with a red hue as her graceful movements carried her through the air. The Swellow's natural lust for battle would definitely be an advantage for her, especially after being sidelined for so long.

The spectators seemed impressed by Artemis's aerial display, and they applauded and cheered loudly. Both Roland and Aipom had their gazes trained upwards, watching the Flying-type with interest. Roland had a plan, and he pushed his hair from his eyes, grinning. "Okay Aipom, lead off with your Agility! A speed boost is just what we need to really get this battle going!"
"Pom!" cried the little monkey, crouching low before it sped across the battlefield, its purple body a mere blur as it raced from one end of the arena to the other, giving itself a significant boost of speed, and a temporary upper hand.
"Now Taunt her!" Roland cried quickly, his stance unwavering as he pointed up at Artemis. Aipom's long tail swayed back and forth a few times, and he made a laughing sound, grinning at the Swellow as he dared her to attack him.

The Swellow's eyes narrowed at the cheeky little opponent below her, and she let out a fierce cry, flapping her wings and diving down to attack. "Wing Attack!" Keegan yelled, hoping she would be able to hear him through her sudden anger. Artemis swooped down, looking as though she were going in for a Peck attack, but at the last minute, spread her wings out stiffly and slammed them hard into the Aipom's body. "That's the way!" Keegan cheered, pumping his fist into the air. He knew that his Pokemon's rage wouldn't subside for a few rounds, but he didn't want her attacking recklessly either. As long as she continued to listen to his commands, then he wouldn't worry for now.

If anything, Aipom was unprepared for the intensity of the attack. The Swellow's wings crashed into him, knocking the wind from his chest and sending the monkey Pokemon onto his back. "Retaliate with your Fury Swipes, Aipom!" Roland shouted, clenching a hand into a fist. A broad grin was etched across his face, and he was definitely enjoying the battle, even though it had just started.
Leaping deftly to his feet, Aipom grit his teeth and rushed at the bird Pokemon, using his enhanced speed to jump up and lash out at his opponent. Surprisingly sharp claws were hidden in the finger-like appendages of his incredibly dexterous tail, and he furiously slashed at Artemis, a fierce "Pom!" being uttered with every attempt to strike.
