"Togetic, Ancient Power!" The girl called out, pointing to Nitro. The fairy Pokemon slammed it's foot onto the ground, rocks made of seemingly pure energy rising from behind it. Waving it's hand, it directed the rocks straight to the Charizard, who took the shot right in the leg.
"Agh!" Nitro yelped as he fell over. He got up and snorted out a bit of fire, annoyed he let that little shrimp hit him so hard.
"Nitro, Flamethrower!" Mike commanded. All to happy to comply, Nitro took in a deep breath, holding the Charcoal in his hands. The light from the sun seemed to bend around him, flowing towards his mouth and dispersing as the Charizard let loose a massive stream of fire which rockteded right at the Togetic. It took the blast and slid back a bit, visable skid marks on the floor.
The gym trainer began to sweat and removed her outer layer, glaring at Mike, who gave her a few suggestive looks. "Not bad, but I've got a few moves myself." She said, waving him off. "Togetic, fly up really high and blast that overgrown newt with Shockwave!"
"Overgrown newt?!" "OVERGROWN NEWT?! Screw that, I don't need Mike's instructions on how to mash this fruitfly!" Nitro flapped his wings, flying straight towards the small Pokemon, who easily dodged out of the way. Little did he see the Charizard's tail come whipping around to strike him in the face. Nitro had just enough time to stop himself and turn around before being met with a Rollout attack. The move was relativly weak but the Togetic kept on going, rolling along the walls and around the floor.
Mike dove out of the way of the oncoming Togetic boulder, landing with a loud grunt. "Hey, you're Pokemon's pretty good. No one's ever given Nitro this much trouble, what's your name?" He asked, brushing his firey clothes clean and walking next to the trainer as they both watched their Pokemon battle in a way that looked like kickball.
"The name's Jessica." She said shortly, shouting encouraging words to her Pokemon.

"Weezing!" Kilik barked, "You give that Gulpin back its food!" The Poison Pokemon looked at its trainer and rolled its tongue out of its mouth. A lump of chewed berries, grass, and apples rested on the tip. It dropped to the ground with a squish. The boy ran a hand through his hair and sighed. "Weezing, what am I going to do with you?" Flareon made a groaning noise when he saw the Gulpin swallow the food that Weezing had dropped.
"Come on guys...let's go..." The boy crossed his arms over his chest and continued walking away from Mauville. He then looked at the metal rings around his arms. He blinked, and noticed that there were latches on the left ring. "Hmm?" he whispered, opening the latch. Inside the ring were six holes, the size of Pokeballs before the button is pressed. "Well! Ain't that nifty!" Kilik removed the two Pokeballs, the Park Ball and the Rocket Ball from his belt and placed them inside. They fit snug inside. He closed the ring and smiled.
"Weezing, Wehh..." the Pokemon cried out. Kilik looked over his shoulder to see an Electrike barking angerly at him.
"Weezing...? What'd you do?" THe Poison Pokemon opened its mouth and dropped another pile of chewed up apple. Kilik smacked his forehead and unlatched the ring, removing Weezing's Pokeball. He pressed the button, and then recalled the Poison-type. "What am I going to do with you...?" he sighed, minimizing the ball and placing it back into the metallic ring. Flareon sighed as well.

After they'd been at sea for a while, Keegan sat up, feeling slightly nauseous and disoriented. "Why'd I ever let myself do this?" he muttered, slinking over to the railing and hanging his head over it. He closed his eyes and took deep breaths, steadying his breathing and regaining his composure. Once he was sure he wouldn't be sick, he trudged back to his place in the center of the boat, and sat back down. He glanced over at Kasiya, who seemed lost in thought, and smiled. "Probably thinking about her next badge," he chuckled, leaning back and closing his eyes, and trying to think of anything but the steadily rocking boat.

The final Rollout came rocketing at Nitro, who was determined not to get hit five times in a row. He arced his body, the Togetic launching straight up through the ceiling, Nitro right on his tail shooting Flamethrowers. The fairy Pokemon unbound from his curled up position only to be fried in the bottom by a wayward fire attack. Not taking that lightly the enemy Togetic looped around headbutting Nitro in the jaw.
While the battle above was happening, Portabello had released himself to watch. Beacon was too immersed in the fight, following the flyers with his flippers.
Mike decided to throw out a suggestion. "Wing Attack it Nitro!" His Pokemon looked down as if to confirm it, and smiled when Mike gave him the thumbs up. The Togetic was now flying straight at him.
Perfect.
Nitro smacked his wings together, Togetic's legs were the only thing that were sticking out. Now trapped within inches of a row of razor sharp teeth, the Pokemon struggled to get free.
"What's this? You want to get away? Alright." Nitro squeezed harder with his wings and expelled a poweful gst of flames from his mouth, rocketing the Togetic through another hole in the roof and slamming it onto the ground, KOing it. "Yes!" Nitro cheered, doing a dance in the air before fluttering down.
"Good job Nitro!" Portabello clapped, secretly peicing the Charizard's movements together in his mind.
"Thanks." Beacon said with a sheepish grin, thinking the Breloom was talking to him.
Mike gave his Pokemon a pat on the head, walking past Jessica with a smug look on his face.

Kasiya sighed, dabbing her oozing lip with her handkercheif. She hardly noticed the pain from it either, her sprained ankle was also long forgotten. She stared down from the starboard side of the boat, watching her reflection disperse, reform, and slosh away, all at once. Why am I still thinking about? she sighed, closing her eyes. I hate Team Rocket! she told herself angrily.
Keep telling yourself that, came that secondary voice, in a sing-song tone. Kasiya grit her teeth, trying to ingore it. You're not sad or depressed you were caught. No, no, no, not at all. You're angry that they didn't want you.
Kasiya opened her eyes, self-realization washing over her as though she'd jumped from the boat and into the water below. "Dammit," she cursed through clenched teeth, the bloody handercheif still clutched in her hand.

Keegan looked up at the sound of Kasiya's voice, a bit of worry overcoming him. As he made a move to stand up, the dizziness returned, and he was forced to sit. He held his head in his hands, staring at the deck below. "I can't take much more of this," he groaned. "I'm never getting on a boat again!"

Kasiya turned her head and looked at Keegan, a sympathetic smile creeping across her face. "Don't worry, it won't be too much longer," she chuckled, looking out around them. She could see the mainland fading fast into the horizon, it seemed the wind had shifted some since they'd departed. She made her way to the rear of the boat, sitting down and looking back at where they'd been. She could see that Ariel was starting to fall be hind, it seemed the Vaporeon's stamina had nearly run dry. She held up the water Pokemon's Pokeball and recalled her, only to release her once more on the deck beside her. "That's my girl," she said softly, petting her slick, wet head gently, as she continued to watch with fairly unseeing eyes, her subconsious slowly grating away at her.

"We're not even a quarter of the way yet," Briney laughed from his post. "You'd better get used to it, boy!" He gave a deep laugh, and went right back to humming.
Keegan only sighed. "Dry land has never seemed so sweet," he whimpered, lying back down and trying to fall asleep. Helios released himself from his Pokeball, and curled up beside his trainer. The Vulpix too felt the horrible churning of the sea and the sea sickness that soon followed, but decided to bear it. He licked Keegan's nose gently, also closing his eyes. "I...hate....the....sea..." Keegan groaned, squeezing his eyes shut once more.

Kasiya looked up, momentarily, before resting her head on her arms again. He sure is being a big baby over all of this, she thought, yawning slightly.
Look who's talking, came that horrid sing-song voice again, mocking her with its very existence.
Shove off, Kasiya grumbled inside her mind. I'm not putting up with you anymore.
And yet here I am, sang the voice, louder this time. Kasiya clenched both fists, stuffing her handkerchief into her pocket.
I have nothing more to say to you, Kasiya retorted, scoffing at herself.
But I have lots to say to you. We've only just breached the tip of the iceberg.
Kasiya sighed, trying not to listen. I don't care! I really don't! So what if they don't want me? Big deal! I don't want them. I don't NEED them.
Then why won't you let it go?
It's YOU who won't let it go!!
But I am you.
.....Shut up!!!

Kilik tripped over a rock, nearly falling face first into a clump of grass. However, he regained his balance. He looked at his Flareon. It sighed and shot a few Embers at the rock. Although it didn't do anything, it did leave some scorches on the face of the object. Kilik crossed his arms over his shoulder. That's the third time since I started walking towards Slateport, he thought. He took a left turn, heading past a small house. There was a large sign on the top of the building that said Trick Master House. Kilik paused, blinking at the sign. "Trick Master?" he read aloud. He scratched the back of his head, "Wonder what that's about." He walked past it without a second thought, taking a southern route towards Slateport.

Mike found himself sitting outside the Petalburg Gym pouting. "I can't beleive Norman isn't even here!" He kicked the dirt and made his way to the Pokemon Center. "After all that. I was on a roll..."
The boy went into the Center for a snack while his Pokemon were getting healed. It was an ice cream sandwich, one of his favorites. Soon the 'ding' sound was heard and Mike was back out in the open air, stumped at what he should do.

Kilik entered the port of Slateport, his hands behind his head. "Will you smell that sea breeze!" he laughed, taking a deep breath, "I've always wanted to live by the ocean." HE heard the calls of Wingull and Pelipper in the distance. A few foghorns from boats were heard by Flareon, whose ears twitched. He jumped from his trainer's shoulder and started walking a little ahead of the boy. "Oh, shoot..." he groaned, sitting on a near by bench and looking at his PokeNav. "I forgot that reaching the Slateport Beach was a dead end. And sadly..." he sighed heavily, "the train doesn't go to Dewford," he whispered, looking another page on his map, which showed train routes.
"Flareon!" it barked, jumping up to his trainer.
"We could always just go to Petalburg by train. And then find a boat there. Want to do that, Flareon?" He patted his Pokemon on the head. It nodded, barking happily. He stood up, Flareon climbing onto his shoulder once more. He headed toward the train station of Slateport.

After Nitro had defeated the Togetic, Flannery had silently disappeared from the gym, her Torkoal still in her arms. The fiery gym leader wandered around the immediate area, enjoying the sights and sounds of Petalburg City. She'd wandered south, finding herself near a crystal clear lake. Peering down inside, she could see many Magikarp swimming around aimlessly. They seemed to gather near her, and all scattered as she dipped her hand in the water. She chuckled to herself, sitting down on a bench, with her lazy Torkoal sleeping soundly on her lap.

He did his best to calm his seasickness, sitting up with the also uneasy-looking Vulpix in his lap. "Be strong, Helios," Keegan told him. "Whatever doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right?" He glanced down at the burn on his arm, which had faded to a pinkish scar, mostly healed over. He prodded it with his other arm, happy to see that it no longer hurt at all. "Kasiya?" he asked, looking around. He didn't see her, and he started to panic a little, but relaxed when he heard her talking to Ariel. He set Helios on the chair beside Rosemary, the Vulpix curling up next to the snoozing Chikorita. He took a deep breath, and stood up, also heading towards the rear end of the boat, and sitting on the bench beside her. "Is everything okay?" he asked gently, putting his hand on her shoulder.

She jumped slightly, but looked up at Keegan and smiled. "Yeah, I'm okay," she lied, her face not showing the slightest hint of the truth. I'm sorry, Keegan, but I can't tell you the truth just yet, she thought sadly, looking back out at the sea. Somehow I don't think you'd understand, at least not right now. She inched over and put her head on his shoulder, very thankful for his presence. "I'm just glad you're here with me," she said quietly. "Thank you." She closed her eyes, clearing her mind of all thoughts and unwanted voices, and was very shortly after dozing lightly.
Rosemary looked up as Helios was set next to her, and she gave a cry, but after realizing who it was, and that the Vulpix had no intent to eat her, she soon settled back down to sleep again.
