"Hi!" Eunmi said cheerfully. She could not easily forget Robby. She gestured for him to join them, but then looked at the seats.

"Can the seats hold him, I wonder?" she thought. She stood up, instead, and waved to Robby. Her lips were spread in a grin, and her eyes appeared closed from the smile -- mostly because she was asian.

"Yeah, of course," she said, giving the obese boy a pat on the back. "I don't back down on promises!
...so long as I remember I made them."

[Present]

"Ah, sorry 'bout that," Salieri told Henrietta after swallowing her food. "I just felt that I had to get in a hammer blow sometime in that tournament.

And then Robby came over.

"Hey, I remember you!" she said excitedly, standing up and leaning forward with a foot on her chair while pointing at the obese lad. "You're the guy who gave me that recipe for that moonshine stew, Robby Tobb!"

She turned her point into a thumbs up. "I don't know how you came up with that, but it's some powerful stuff. Thanks a lot!"

[Eunmi's Flashback]

Salieri rose an eyebrow at the pose. It turned out Eunmi was a nerd. "Bisharp Rider?" She had never really watched TV before, as Koichi did not have one in his house.

"I've heard of a Bisharp before, though. So does that mean you're from Unova?" She had never met a foreigner before. Salieri wondered if that's why her eyes were so squinty sometimes.

Salieri, the fool! She'd admitted to hitting Henrietta. Unless Eunmi didn't care. Henrietta theorized that perhaps all of Eunmi's anger was only directed at her. She decided the idea was confirmed when the fashionista instantly went nice mode at the arrival of Robby.

Of course, it was difficult to ignore Robby, as the ground shaking with light tremors tended to herald his arrival. Henrietta looked up at him and then back down at her sandwich as she nibbled it.

"H-hello," she said between nibbles and then, "i-it's okay," to Salieri.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 18, 2011 3:43 pm

Robby nodded at the girl deciding to keep her promise, but decided that, this time, he would just stay standing. Those chairs did not seem like they would be able to hold his weight at all... ""Well aalright." And then the recipe girl stood up, and said something about moonshine stew. He didn't give her his recipe for his moonshine stew! That required entirely different ingredients!

"Musharna stew." He replied, with a frown, and nodded once at the underweight girl who seemed fairly shy. "Moonshine stew uses cabbage." He shrugged at her mistake, at least she liked it though. "Where do I order?"

"...Musharna?"

So she had misread the ingredients.

....

"Okay, well whatever!" Salieri proclaimed, fighting away that awkward silence that came from her realization. "Whatever I had was plenty good. What did you say to put in, cabbage?"

Chen Zhen's ears perked up as he bobbed up and down in the air, floating circles around the group atop the elastic grey orb. Cabbage? He made sure to pay attention to what Robby was saying. Salieri needed all the cooking help she could get. Maybe he was some sort of-

"Wow, are you some kind of iron chef?" Salieri asked in childlike awe.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 18, 2011 4:05 pm

((Eunmi: It's your own fault for getting hurt. Sal is a trained fighter, you're the incompetent one.))

"Up there," Eunmi pointed to the cashier. I am assuming the set up of the restaurant is like a Panera Bread.

Oh, we could call it Pansage Bread.

"Get whatever you want, yeah?" Eunmi said happily, glad he wasn't holding a grudge. However, Eunmi did not fully grasp that such a large guy would probably have a huge appetite.

* * * * *

Eunmi smiled and nodded.

"We moved there a little while ago. We used to live here in Kanto though."

((flash forward...!

Also, Sal should almost reveal Eunmi is a closet dork.))

And then the conversations sort of drifted off. Eunmi and Salieri's attention being focused more on Robby, it seemed. So, during this time, Henrietta nibbled her sandwich until it was all gone.

Her Pokemon had finished as well, save Melty who was constantly eating. Your soul. No, really.

"Hum," she said to herself and she laid her head on the table. What time was it? Evening? Afternoon? It was too early, she decided. Henrietta stood up then.

"I-i'm going to go look for G-gorm."

Edit:

No, wait.

"D-don't!" Henrietta shouted suddenly, though her shouts were never very loud, she turned toward Robby and Eunmi, a look of horror on he face. But it was too late, Robby was at the counter.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 18, 2011 4:18 pm

Robby looked to Sal for a moment, thought about the question a moment, and instead of answering, gave her a nod with his most confident look on his face. Then he continued onwards, towards the counter, some odd squeak or something from behind heralding his arrival. He looked at the food, then to the people.

"One of everything." He then looked back at the food. It looked kinda small. "Make that two." He pointed back, directly at Eunmi. "She's payin'."

[Present]

Salieri watched Robby leave and then sat back down. "Wow, a real iron chef. That takes dedication, you know? You have to really know your craft to get to that level."

She kept nodding in admiration as she took another bite of her sandwich. "Hmmm, maybe he can teach me some recipes," she pondered to Henrietta.

[PLEASE,] Chen Zhen yelped, almost falling off of his balloon.

[Eunmi's Flashback]

"Unova...that's pretty cool." Finally, Salieri was starting to smirk. "You're going to have to tell me all about it."

And so after the dishes were done and the two girls bonded, Salieri and Eunmi went to bed. In Salieri's room, a cot was set up next to the little Battle Girl's bed, and Salieri was already laying in bed in her pajamas. The lights were out, and she stared up at the ceiling.

"So what are you going to do now?" she asked. "Are you still going to run away?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 18, 2011 8:10 pm

Eunmi gapped, and quickly ran to the counter.

"I said you could have whatever you wanted, not how ever much you wanted," Eunmi said in an exasperated tone of voice.

"I don't have enough money for two of everything!!" Four days into her journey and she'd already have to call her parents to ask for more money. Ughh, she was not looking forward to that.

"...you can get one of... really, do you have to get everything?" Eunmi asked, looking puzzled. How could someone's stomach be so vast?

* * * * *

[Flashback]

"I don't know..." Eunmi stared up at the ceiling as well, arms stretched up and behind her head.

"I don't really have anywhere to go," Eunmi said, sitting up. "But my grandma's gonna kill me for running away."

The korean girl hugged her knees, resting her chin on her arms.

"I can't even leave the house," Eunmi sighed. "Not unless we're going to the store.

"I want summer to be over, so I can go home." The girl sighed again and tilted her head enough to look over to Salieri. "...maybe I just won't go back to my grandma's."

And now that the situation had been resolved, Henrietta went back to her original plan. "I-i'm gonna look for G-gorm," she said again. She had no leads, no place to start, but she didn't want to be around an angry Eunmi. It was scary, for one.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 18, 2011 8:34 pm

Robby turned to her, then to the counter. One of... "Yes." He replied, nodding with absolute certainty. That other girl had said Iron Chef? Then that could be a good excuse. "I gotta test other recipes and see if they're delicious enough to adapt to my own cooking." He nodded as though that meant it was absolutely a perfect reason to order one of everything.

Of course, no one needed to know that it was a lie. "You don't got the money for it?"

[Eunmi's Flashback]

"I'm just saying that if you're going to run away, you need a plan. I'm not letting you leave this dojo until you figure out where you're going first." Salieri tilted her head to meet Eunmi's gaze.

"You'll get yourself into trouble again."

[Present]

"Gorm?"

Like, one of the premier fighters in the martial arts community Gorm? The Gorm who had a hand in busting apart the Masters Dojo Gorm? Salieri thought to herself for a second.

"Call me when you find him, alright? So I can, you know...be your backup...or something." She tapped the wristwatch-like device in her wrist. "My xtransceiver is in the network, you should be able to find me anytime."

((It's finally done. Thank gawd. It's not as monolithic or as awesome as Trop's and Jump's gargantuans, but, it should be fun. biggrin Now, I present to you: Gregory and Zelda Vs Luka in amazing Sepia Tone. biggrin ))

As Luka walked back into Nacrene he thought of last night's battle. He smiled.

~[Flashback]~
Luka had been received home with even more hugs than when he’d come back from Castelia. There was a reason for this. As he had walked through the door, he’d brought out his badge case and opened it to show the Trio Badge in all its golden glory. Little Scott had practically flung himself at Luka, the biggest smile Luka had ever seen on his face. His mother embraced him and stroked his hair with more “I’m so proud of you”s than you could shake a stick at. His father hugged him after that, with a whispered “I knew you could do it” in Luka’s ear.

After a nice cup of tea, they all walked out into the garden and the battlefield beyond that. They were going to have that double battle and boy was it going to be interesting.

“So, no new Pokémon since you left?” His father asked, just making sure that the offer he was about to make wasn’t a crap one.

“Nope. Only Kai, Squirt and Tayla. I don’t think I’ll be catching anything until I leave Castelia for Nimbasa. I need to keep my typings spread and since Elesa is an Electric type trainer. There’s the desert and the Desert Resort just north of Castelia and I’ve heard rumours of Sigilyphs around there. If I can get a Sandile and a Sigilyph then I should be set for the rest of the gyms other than Opelucid’s. So….. I can probably catch an Ice type soon afterwards; I’ve heard the Cool Storage near Driftveil has some. But, for now, I only have those three.”

Gregory laughed, “That’s my boy, always planning ahead. Just live for the now, Luka. If you spend too much time thinking about what’s going to happen, it’ll just fly past you when it does. Anyway. Here’s the way this battle is going to go. You use all three of your Pokémon, I’ll use two and your mother will use one.”

“We nipped over to the Pokémon Centre to get Professor Oak to send us some of our weaker Pokémon so that this would be a much fairer battle. I’ve always liked Professor Oak, he’s such a charming old gentleman.” Zelda looked over at her husband. “I’m so glad you introduced us, Greg, honey. It’s much easier keeping our Pokémon at his lab than at Professor Birch’s place. Safer too.”

Luka’s jaw dropped. “You know Professor Oak? The Professor Oak? Really? And you’ve never told me?” Despite being a Literature student, Luka had spent many hours looking over the work of the world famous Professor Oak on the subject of Pokémon as background study for his literature work. The guy was a genius.

Gregory laughed again. “Of course. I was born in Kanto, y’know? I even grew up in little Pallet Town. Of course I know the Professor. That old man knows almost every trainer in Kanto and knows lots of trainers across the world. Anyway, that’s getting away from our battle. Right. Are you ready?”

They had all taken their positions and Scott was grinning like a mad man on the nearby bench. Luka nodded firmly and sent out Kai and Squirt. The two Pokémon nodded to each other and then faced Luka’s parents with a look of grim determination.

Gregory grabbed one of the Pokéballs from his belt and launched it into the air. From the ball leapt a small puppy like creature. It had orange fur with black lines and white fur across its muzzle, chest and tail. It barked and shot an adorably menacing look at Kai. “Meet Gardie. He’s a Growlithe. I caught him when I was on Cinnabar Island and I never quite got around to training him. I was too used to my Charizard, Callum, as my fire type. Still, the little fella has got enough fight in him to give you a run for your money.”

Zelda smiled. “So, you chose Gardie did you? I thought you might. You always talk about how you wanted to bring him over so that he could help out Scott eventually.”

Scott’s eyes brightened as he stared at the Growlithe. His ears had perked up at the mention of his name and he was awed by the fact that the Growlithe would one day be his. He continued to grin inanely at the thought of looking after his Dad’s Growlithe. That would make him a proper grown up like Luka.

Picking a Pokéball from her belt, Zelda drew a circle in the air with her finger and threw the Pokéball through it. “Konohana, you’re up.” A brown humanoid like thing appeared. It had two seed-like things on its legs that looked like trousers and a mask of the same colour. A leaf stuck out of its head and it looked around with a furtive glance. “Konohana is a Nuzleaf. They’re actually incredibly common in Hoenn. However, Konohana is different from most Nuzleafs in that she is a Shiny. That’s why her trouser sacks and her mask are red instead of beige. I was quite shocked when I found her and the only thing I could think to do was to capture her so that no criminals could get a hold of her. She’s worth a pretty penny, let me tell you. Anyway, let’s begin.”

“Konohana, Razor Leaf.”

The Nuzleaf placed its hands together and a flurry of razor sharp leaves leapt off the trees and flew towards Squirt and Kai. If they hit Squirt, then he’d be in a lot of trouble.

“Kai, Ember the leaves and then Flame Charge Konohana.”

Kai trumpeted twice, once to release the flames which skittered from leaf to leaf, burning them to ashes and again to set himself alight and start his charge towards the Nuzleaf.

“Gardie, intercept with an Aerial Ace.”

The Growlithe leapt into the air and disappeared, quickly reappearing in front of Kai. The two would collide head on, causing Kai great pain and causing the Growlithe none.

“Squirt, Water Gun!”

With seconds to spare, Squirt launched the water gun which slammed into the Growlithe’s side. It knocked Gardie off course and sent him falling into ground. It was a lucky escape and one which damaged the Growlithe somewhat. However, Konohana had had more than enough time to get out of the way and leap into the trees.

Round one, done.

“Konohana, Nature Power.”

From the trees, Konohana placed her hands together. The leaves on the trees around her shivered and plucked themselves off of the trees. They span in the air and then paused as they focused upon Squirt. Then with frightening speed, they charged towards Squirt. A simple ember would not bat these leaves away easily.

“Squirt, Ice Beam the leaves. Then, Aqua Jet.”

The beam leapt across the arena to the leaves but it wasn’t enough. The leaves rammed into Squirt’s shell before he could get them all and they stung badly. But, Squirt was a tough sort, he wasn’t about to let some leaves take him out. No way. So, after he quickly composed himself he launched into the Aqua Jet towards Gardie.

“Gardie, Aerial Ace.”

The Aqua Jet missed as Gardie disappeared into thin air before reappearing right in front of Kai. A point blank Aerial Ace. Kai would have been a goner had Luka not shouted “Arm Thrust and Squirt, get him.”

As Gardie appeared, Kai thrust his fists into the Growlithe’s head. The speed of the Growlithe did force Kai backwards into a nearby tree but the fists continued to pound at the Growlithe’s head. Then, Squirt circled round and slammed the still running Aqua Jet into the Growlithe’s side. Gardie was flung away from Kai and fell to the ground. Kai lifted himself up from the dent that had formed in the tree and trudged back into the arena. 1-0 to Luka seeing as Gardie was now out for the count.

Gregory clapped, “Very well done. Gardie, return, you did a good job.” The Growlithe returned to his ball and was placed back on Gregory’s belt. He quickly retrieved the next one and sent the Pokémon into the battle. “Meet Derib.” On the field stood a black hound that glowered at Luka. “Unfortunately, he’s not the best tempered of Pokémon.” He paused for a moment to let that sink in before he gave the order, “Derib, Bite.”

The Houndour lunged into action. It had one target and one target only. He had to eliminate his weakest opponent as that would level the playing field.

“Konohana, Nature Power once more.”

The two attacks landed on Squirt, and the poor Tirtouga couldn’t take anymore. He was out for the count.

“Squirt, return. You did good.” Luka quickly swapped the balls around like his father had done only moments before. “Come on out Tayla, you can do this.”

Like a Butterfree escaping from its Metapod chrysalis, Tayla poked her head out and ruffled her leaf coat a bit as she surveyed the battle field. A Houndour and a Nuzleaf, two Pokémon she’d never seen before were her opponents and she was working with Kai. Well, this was going to be interesting seeing as she was at a major disadvantage.

“String Shot Konohana and pull her out of the trees. Then Kai, Flame Charge.”

It was an interesting tactic. String Shot was normally used to slow down an opponent, but, theoretically the sticky string WAS strong enough to yank an opponent towards the user much like a vine whip although more disposable. The string latched onto Konohana and with a tough yank, Tayla brought the Nuzleaf flying towards her. As this happened, Kai started his charge, hoping to catch Konohana as she landed. The combined power of the flames and Kai’s brute force should have been enough to knock the Nuzleaf out.

Things were going exactly to plan until Gregory ordered, “Intercept and Ember.”

Derib positioned himself in front of Kai, forcing Kai to ram into him which in turn activated Flash Fire. Derib’s fire type attacks were now 1.5 times as powerful and that was when he launched the Ember at Tayla. It would have been disastrous for Luka had Tayla not flung Konohana in front of her. Being still attached to the string, Tayla had been able to yank it again to pull Konohana into a different position and thus made Konohana get hit by the attack. The flames removed the sticky string but they also hurt the Nuzleaf quite badly. One more fire type attack and she would be down.

“Quick Attack and Nature Power.”

Despite the injuries, Konohana was able to launch herself at Tayla, ramming into the leaf-cloaked bug. At point blank range she launched the Nature Power. The dust from the arena leapt into the air and formed huge clumps before ramming into Tayla. But being at such close range was a bad move.

“Bug Bite.”

Tayla’s tiny teeth clamped down into Konohana’s leg. She bit again and again until the Nuzleaf could no longer take it and was out for the count. 2-1 to Luka.

Zelda returned Konohana and smiled at her son, “You’re doing brilliantly! Now, show your father what you’re made of!”

Gregory looked at his wife, “Oh thanks dear.”

Luka smiled, he was nearly there. “Kai, Arm Thrust.”

The Pignite trumpeted and stomped over to Derib before thrusting his fists into the Houndour’s face. It was still a bit shaken from the force of Kai’s Flame Charge even though the attack didn’t actually hurt him. After four painful hits, Derib managed to pull himself away.

“Derib, get an Ember in on Tayla.”

The Houndour panted a bit before launching the ember. This gave Tayla enough time to string shot her way behind Kai so that Kai took the ember for her. But, Derib wasn’t giving up that easily. He launched Ember after Ember towards Kai and Tayla and if Tayla hadn’t tried to string shot to a nearby tree for a better vantage point she wouldn’t have been hit. She plummeted to the ground and looked as if she would be down for the count but then she started to glow. Her leaf coat enshrouded her and her expression became set in frown. She was pretty pissed about that ember. It had nearly burned through her beautiful coat. Without Luka’s order she launched a String Shot at Derib, trapping him in the typical String Shot fashion. Then she nodded firmly with eyes like daggers at Luka and Kai.

“Kai, Arm Thrust.”

Derib wasn’t able to move. He saw Kai walk towards him in what seemed like slow motion. Then Kai’s fist reared back and proceeded to ram into Derib. The Houndour couldn’t take any more and fainted.

“Derib, return.”

And so, it was over. Luka had won. He thought his parents had taken it easy on him, but, he had beaten them. Tayla had evolved into a Swadloon which meant that she was close to becoming a Leavanny if he could make her happy and Kai was really getting good at fighting now.

Scott leaped off of the bench and practically glomped Luka. “THAT WAS AWESOME!” His eyes were sparkling with childish glee and although Luka didn’t think the battle was the most spectacular that there had ever been, Scott probably hadn’t seen anything more spectacular up close than the battle he had just witnessed.

Gregory and Zelda walked over to their son and embraced him.
“You did good, Son.”
“I think good is a bit of an understatement, honey.”
“Fine, excellent is probably more like it.”
“I think you’ll do fine against Lenora tomorrow or whenever you get to battle her. You’re improving Luka. You’re improving greatly. You just need to get a bit quicker with your orders and you need to strategize a bit more seeing as Tayla made that last decision for you, but you’re doing brilliantly. Well done.”

And that was that. The family healed their Pokémon and went to bed, happy as usual.
~[/Flashback]~

Yes, that battle had been mighty fun.
