The man stood, awaiting Dame's approach. He was eerily silent for once, not emitting a single laugh or word as he was charged. The dark eye sockets of the mask remained black as he watched the lightning user come at him with a similarly insane drive about him.

As Dame came in, the dark one rapidly sidestepped to the left and forward past his opponent, sword in the right hand intending to leave a gash across the chest of the elementalist - it would be nowhere near fatal, but that wasn't the dark one's concern at the moment.

"Interesting..."

As the counter attack was completed, he would almost lazily turn around to face Dame as he would be recovering from his charge.

"...most interesting indeed..."

Damrius Felt the blade split his skin, but ingored it. As the blade was leaving his skin, he shifted as such that the point of the blade went a little deeper than the edge, yet Damrius was able to get behind the edge of the katana, the flat of its edge cold against his skin.

Yet, he didn't stop there. His left arm shot up and latched itself in an iron grip on Stephen's elbow, and kept squeezing. He was doing his best to resist cutting it off... yet ripping it off was far more appealing at this moment.

The dark one had already begun to turn around, so his trapped arm was of little concern - with a quick flick of his left hand he smeared some of the leftover blood onto his opponents face. He was attempting to get it in his opponent's eyes, but any contact would do. If the man was paying anny attention at all, he would have noticed the man focusing some dark energies into the blood before contact. The darkness within would immediately attack Dame's face, acting as a painful irritant that mimicked acid sans the melting - while he too would suffer some of the painful effects due to the contact on his hand, the opponent's face would be in for much more of a nasty surprise. The effect would eventually wear off, but the pain would be very real.

Hoping to have an opening, he would grab the mans controlling arm and wrench it off in order to bring the weapon back into his control, hopefully cutting slightly Dame on the way up.

Damrius saw the hand move to slap the blood on him, as had happened to him many times before. As it came for his face, he whirled, his grip tightning on the arm. The base of the hilt on his sword was a dull stud, not sharp, but good for knocked people out with if hit in the head. Yet, this time, as he spun, he was not striking for the head, but for Stephen's kidney.

With his grip still on Stephen's sword arm with Dame's left hand, and Dame spinning to his left, Damrius drove the hilt of his sword down towards the kidney with as much force as possible. If it hit, he would use it as a chance to move away, and if not, he would have no choice but to attempt to counteract the counter to his attack.

If one could see behind the dark one's mask, he would see a nasty grimace as he was clocked in the kidney. It only served to piss him off more than anything, but the pause would be long enough to let Dame get away if he so chose.

"Gnkkk... This can't be... why didn't you tell me he was insane?!"

I can't give everything away, now can I? What's the matter, Darkie? Too much for you?

"HAH! As if... Just didn't see it coming. No matter... we'll see which one of us is REALLY crazy!!!"

With a quick flourish, the dark one took his left hand and covered it in more blood, slid it across the blade, and with one rapid swing, slammed the weapon into the ground to fire off a large red shockwave that rendered the ground and shot the earth away as it speedily few towards Dame. It wasn't intended to be an actual damaging attack, but he needed a distraction for a moment... he had bigger plans in store...

As Damrius moved away, he heard the creature talking to Stephen. It was the only reasonable assumption.

Damrius spun as he saw the sword slam into the ground, followed by the red wave. Yet, he only hesitated half a nanosecond before his own sword came up, envoloped in brilliant white lightning, and he would drop into a crouch while bringing the sword up to catch the wave.

As he did so, the earth coming up beneath it in a dust sword came with it, and fluttered in his eyes.

Dumbass. You forgot your sunglasses, child! You NEVER forget your sunglasses!

Damrius growled in his throat, and the voices seemed to shutter into the back of his mind. And he never forgot sunglasses....

The earth began to churn randomly as the arena began to misbehave - the location in which the two stood was untouched, but spiky rock outcroppings and random building ruins began to pop up encircle the ring with no rhyme or reason to it.

"For the record... that wasn't me."

He paused for a moment, and thought out his options. Then, without warning, he jumped to the nearest rock spike and slammed the weapon into it, causing it to shatter into a bunch of large pieces, all falling presumably on top of him. Before he was crushed, he gathered more blood from the wounded shoulder, charged it with dark energy, then fired it out, causing the rocks to fire towards Dame in a sort of massive shotgun effect. The dark energy alone would probably have been enough, but the added effect was that the blood came flying in strange dagger like projectiles. A few of the rocks that weren't affected fell on top of him, scratching him up and bouncing off of him - it hurt, but he didn't seem to care. He wasn't dead, that's what was important.

With that, he rushed in after the barrage of stony shrapnel and came in to try and cleave Dame in half.

Rise from the shadows...

Ahh, new shadows in old places.

That was the thing about new Maximos. He was new. Ruuvan and Old Maximos fought day in and day out, the elf knew everything there was to know about the shadowy wraith that Maximos once was. But this new thing...they're barely met. That meant Maximos had a whole new deck of cards to play with, and Ruuvan hadnt seen a one of them.

The first of the name new facets of Maximos announced itself with a clang, the sound of a sword striking a metal pipe. This happened as Ruuvan fell directly into Maximos plan, and his trap. His sword bit deep into Maximos forearm and struck the bone. The bones of Maximos' bandaged and cursed right arm, were and are made of jet black metal, which the elven blade resounded off of. This was why Maximos swung with his right arm.

Beads of black bubbled from the cut, some slipping into bandage, and the seeping across to the blade. It moved unnaturally, like fingers crawling upwards. Needless to say the arm was not severed, not even stunned. Needless to say Ruuvan was not given time to react before the trap was sprung. The arm bent at the elbow, and Maximos fist locked around blade. That would seem like nothing until you realized that his fingers were made of the same black metal, meaning it would be excessively difficult to pull that blade free.

By the time Ruuvan realized this, Maximos was already in motion. He had stepped forward and reached his left arm far down toward Ruuvan's right side as he did so he finished his call.

...Ankokuko!

Ank-what?

Ankokuko, Caller of Darkness.

It wasnt that Maximos shouted it. It was that it echoed in all the shadows in a 30ft radius. And being dark, and a forest, that was alot.

Ruuvan may, just may, if he for some odd reason decided to look down, see the hilt of the weapon that rose from Maximos' shadow as it was cast forward.

He may, just may, see Maximos' hand wrap around it in a reverse grip and send it soaring straight up aiming to cut a deep slash across the elf's chest. True Ruuvan had his left blade but could it really reach across his chest in time to stop an attack it was unlikely he could even see coming.

Ankokuko, was a black katana-esque weapon, and a unique creature in and of itself. It worked the best and sharpest, the more darkness surrounded it. Night had fallen, it was a forest, shadows were everywhere. As it exited its slash regardless of the outcome, a pale violet aura could be seen enrapturing the blade. And regardless of the outcome Ruuvan would feel a ribbon of black and swirling violet chasing the path of the sword attempting to deepen the cut and or shove him back, hard.

As Damrius heard Stephen/Darkling speak, he slipped his hand into his back pocket, and pulle dout a thick leather case. As he opened it, he slid on a pair of black sunglasses, his usual.

As he slid them on, he was still blinking out the dust, yet he was able to see the Darkling move for the stone outcropping. And yet, as the thing landed and broke it... Damrius was already on the move.

He could feel the magic coming form it. All of them, the rocks, the daggerlike things, and the creature.

"You showed me Yours... Now I'll show you ours!" Damrius cried, his left hand writhing, and bolts of lightning... Black lightning!?

Bolts of his signature style shot from his hand, their dark magic of their own slamming into the dark magic daggers, causing an explosion - they did that if they hit even a frog - and causing the rocks to slam into eachother, each exploding as it did so itself. Yet, the fact of exploding rocks didn't mean Damrius was home free - the shards came for him, if only in smaller doses.

Several slammed into him, going through the skin. Yet, they went all the way through, and Damrius just stood there, taking it all in stride. It was punishment for not seeing clearly his own repercussions.

Yet... ther ewas a prize at the end of this barrage - The Darkling. Charging at him.

Dame redied himself for the attack, and waited with rocks cutting his skin, and shattering against the large blade in his hands, for his opponent to show up... and show up he did! With that nasty looking toy of his, too!

As the blade came in, Damrius brought his blade up in a way to counter Stephens...'cleavage'.

The weapons clashed, and without pause, the man came around with intent to slice Dame in across the middle, then up to strike him across the face in rapid succession. Should this end up being effective or otherwise, he intended to kick him backwards with a hard front thrust kick to the middle, which would promptly follow up with a thrust to the man's stomach in attempt to impale him but good.

He remained silent for the moment, not making insults or insane cracks - he was filled with a dark passion and wanted to mess his opponent up with every last inch of his being. His focus was... disturbing...

The sword coming for his middle was a simple block, as was the strike for the face - yet that one still got him. The blade has left a neat little slice running down just under his eye, following the curve of Dame's cheekbone.

Damrius Grinned, for as the blade came away and went for the kick to his middle...

Well, it was going to be a shocking experience. Something that Stephen would know was to avoid actual physical contact with Damrius, yet the darkling might have been a little slow on that. As energy coursed through where the foot was coming to strike, Joe hardened his muscles for the impact. Either way, it would hit him, but Stephen would be more effected.

Hopefully.

The dark one saw the grin on Dame's face and managed to pull the kick at the last moment. Off balance, he forced himself to fall forward towards Dame, and as he did so, he simultaneously thrust his weapon at the man to still try and impale him with the weapon. The action would take about a second at most, so if Dame were to come out of this unscathed, he would have to be creative. If he tried to electrify the sword, it would most likely be in vain due to the weapon's new consistency - still, that was a hefty assumption. The dark one was more concerned with causing damage and tormenting the elementalist than his own hide. If he could hit Dame hard, he would be at a decent advantage - or so the dark one intended.

Damrius honestly expected the sword trick to happen.

As the blade pierced his gut, and kept on going, he shifted it just enough so that it avoided his spine. This didn't stop a grimace on his face, and several grunts as the blade went in. The pain receptors in his brain quit responding, though, as the blade went all the way through. He let out a small moan, his brain turning the pain in pure pleasure. He let go of every ounce of control he had left, and let the souls of the cursed ones take over his body.

His left hand shot up to catch Stephen's hand, and put an iron vice grip on it again. Yet, he would pull Stephen towards him, and step forward, the blade going in deeper. And just as he took a step forward, his own sword would be thrust towards stephen's gut, an attempt to give them a stalemate position. All the while, he had a crazed smile on his face.

"I'm not so easy to kill. But you.... You're easy enough to kill.... You don't know what the body you poses is capable of... and you don't know how easily destroyed it is..." He was able to get it out between gasps of pleasure and pain. He still towered over Stephen easily enough.... all he needs was one good, clean swipe about seven inches below his own height and stephen would lose his head... more than he already had.

Ruuvan was once again caught in a trap. This wasn't Old Maximos - appearances could be deceiving and all that - it was something else entirely. The elf didn't know this person. Regardless of how this new shadow acted out of combat, in civil situations and such, the only real thing between these two had always been the fighting; their first meeting lead to the complete annihilation of a village by an onslaught of undead warriors. Of course they had a bond near brotherhood from their travels together, but it just wasn't the same. Strange.

Darkness grabbed a hold of his chest making it hard to breath, the sword tearing across his chest, leaving a gash behind, adding to the whole thing. A weapon made of shadow, thriving on shadow, delivering more than just a cut. Ruuvan was thrown back, blood streaming from his new wound. He crashed through undergrowth and through more than a few stray branches, before eventually crumpling to a stop in a small clearing. Dark magic was powerful against living things as it was, but against a follower of the Light it was more.

Both swords were still gripped in his hands, his offensive one yanked free by the force of the dark magic and the strength of his own grip. Blood spattered the front of his leather vest and white undershirt both, framing the new dark swords wound.

A clearing, yes. That's what it was. Too much time spent getting up from the ground and making sure he was still intact, he had no idea where he landed. Moonlight flooded the area, creating a five foot diameter circle of light. Night brought the shadow out to erase the light, but in this place they fought evenly. Maximos' sword would benefit, but Ruuvan would not be completely left in the dark, as it were.

If Maximos had run to keep up with him as he flew through the forest, he would be appearing right now, otherwise he could prepare. Light was faint here, but there was still that presence. He drew on it, focusing on nothing and letting the light fill him. He was waiting, ready to unleash his own new trick.

The dark one paused for a moment as a sword impaled him. He glanced down without moving his head, Dame wouldn't be able to tell due to the black holes where his eyes were hidden.

"...Die..."

He forcefully pushed forward without much care to the pain that was being increased as a sword drove itself though him and slammed his free hand onto Dames neck, and with a vice like grip attempted to crush the man's trachea - should he be successful, he would have about 3 seconds of consciousness before choking out, and then the man's only hope of survival would be a rapidly performed tracheotomy.

And the dark one wasn't in the mood to play doctor.
