Once again Napalm was thankful for his lack of a movable mouth as the Raichu's fist impacted with his jaw and he was sent soaring into the air. The punch must have knocked something loose, because everything seemed to go in slow motion after that. As the Magby flew through the air, everything was quiet. He didn't hear Surge's biting commentary, or even his trainer's cries of encouragement. All he heard were his own thoughts. Was he going to win this fight? Probably not, the Raichu was obviously much more powerful than him. He was alone here, no one to help him. Even Cable would be a welcome sight right now. Napalm fell to the ground limply, his eyes shut peacefully. Something felt different this time, but he didn't figure it was important. It was probably just the result of him getting hit with such a powerful punch. Looks like I'm going to have to let Mike down this time... he thought, feeling the energy slowly leave his body. Better luck next time...I'm sure he'll understand.
Wait a minute.
The Magby opened his eyes and glared at the ceiling, not caring about the painfully bright lights above. This wasn't how it was supposed to happen! He wasn't supposed to just give up because he got socked in the face! What about all the hard work Mike had put into raising him, was that all going to be for nothing?! The immediate area beside the Magby began to smolder and crack, the smell of burnt stone and gravel wavering into the air like the smoke that carried it. Napalm stood up, exhaling a bit of black smoke from his nostrils and glaring at the Raichu. So what if he was bigger, stronger, or if there were twenty of them! He would take them all on, even if he couldn't win! He would fight until one of them were defeated! No matter what the consequences he would never give up! Mike always believed in him, so what kind of friend would he be to just run like a coward at something like this? A pillar of fire burst from the cracks in the ground, which formed into a spiraling cyclone of scarlet flames that enveloped the Magby. A shrill honk could be heard from inside the raging inferno as both spectators and combatants watched in awe. Mere moments later a orange-red blur exploded out from the fiery tornado and flew at the Raichu with an arm outstretched...
It was Napalm, who with the determination to do his best and never give up, had evolved into a Magmar.

As Aidan tried to busy himself in his work ignoring the other two and making batch after batch of pancakes. Really how did he get himself into these situations. Glancing up again Aidan's bright blue eyes caught Jun's brilliant green ones and he knew that he was going to get in trouble soon. Glancing back down at his work he quickly went back to flipping.
It also did not help that the baby Duskull was playing with the whip cream and drawing on the pancakes that were waiting to be taken to tables. At first Aidan had tried his best to get the ghost pokemon to stop. As people started to watch though they seemed to think the it was cute. Seeing that they didn't mind to much Aidan just shrugged and let the Duskull do what he wanted. It was just the small pokemon went through it fast so he had to stop what he was doing and quickly move between making more and flipping the cakes before they burned.
Not to mention that standing near the griddle and working as hard as he was it got him hot. He couldn't roll up his sleeves because his scars would be somewhat disturbing. It also didn't look to good to be sweating to much on the food. Luckily one of the nice waitresses had noticed he was pretty warm and kept refilling a nearby glass of water and ice. So that helped cool him down, even if it was just a little. Of course if Jun came over Aidan had a feeling it would make the situation worse. For some reason the man said such obscene things and it just made his face turn so red. Of course when Aidan blushed it was hard to tell since he was normally so emotionless.

Even Sabrina couldn't get into his head? London didn't have to vocalize the fact the he knew he was not as strong as the Psychic gym leader, the frown on his face did that for him. At least...he wasn't stronger than her YET. "...Hmph." The boy decided not to comment. Giovanni could go right on thinking that he was immune, but London knew his guard couldn't be up all the time. Maybe it would be easier when he was asleep, or maybe if he got really drunk. He was certain there were cracks in the man's mental wall blocks and he was determined to find them, small as they may be. The reason? Honestly, just to prove that he can.
The Haunter just watched as the inevitable attack came and went, recoiling from the painful bite. Augh! That one has quite a bite to him. I know, I'm sorry. What should I do? Curse him. Even if you go down you can continue to hurt him. The Haunter grins wickedly in reply, flexing his clawed fingers in anticipation before reaching behind his back. After a moment he comically withdraws a shadowy hammer and nail, placing the latter between his eyes and slamming the head of the hammer against it. The nail slipped in partially; another whack from the hammer and it was in further, and one more hit drove it in all the way.
"...Just because I'm a Psychic doesn't mean all of my Pokemon are. Way to generalize." You great stupid brute... London spoke as the Haunter's props faded. Haunter itself was drooping and looking as though he were having a hard time staying afloat, but that retarded grin was still plastered on his face. It was obvious one more hit would take him down, but there wasn't time to switch him out. It was kind of like playing chess - sometimes sacrifices had to be made.

Keegan only raised an eyebrow at the two men, looking down at Shiva as the one insulted her. The Sealeo let out an indignant bark, her usually happy expression twisted into one of anger. Keegan smirked when he saw that look, and he glanced over at Jaeshan. "Start something? Me? Surely you jest," he said sarcastically before looking back to the men again. They were big, that's for sure, and though most days he probably would have had most definitely started something, but as he shifted slightly on his feet he felt pain surge through his body and he sighed. "Speaking of tubs of lard," he said mockingly, "my friend and I have to leave now. Excuse us." He took a deep breath and tried to maneuver around them.
"No, no no," the second man said, quickly moving to block the redhead's exit. "You two ain't going nowheres until you battle with us."
"I figured as much," Keegan sighed, shrugging. "And my friend and I will be glad to oblige you, but first I have to go in there," he pointed at the Pokemon Center, "and deposit one of my Pokemon. Last I checked, carrying around seven of 'em was against the rules." Shiva let out another annoyed bark, very much wanting to show these guys a thing or two about manners. ===== "We've got him now, Tingle! Let him have another Confusion attack!" Miharu cheered, punching the air. Tingle definitely mirrored its trainer's enthusiasm and was quick to send off another wave of psychic energy at the Gengar. He felt like he could do this all day long! The attack shot forward, extending out like a clawed hand to ensnare the ghost. Miharu closed her eyes, the excitement building up to a point where she could barely stand it anymore.
Morty sighed. This was it. He watched helplessly as the psychic energy enveloped his Pokemon, causing it to hiss and wail with pain until it slumped to the floor, unable to continue. "Gengar is unable to battle, the match goes to the challenger!" the ref declared loudly.
Morty chuckled and recalled his fainted Gengar, shaking his head as he headed across the battlefield to meet with the small girl. As the two met up he stopped, looking down at her with an actual, genuine smile on his face. "You won," he said simply, holding his hand out so she could see the glittering Fog Badge in his palm. "Go ahead, take it. You've earned it, that's for sure."

The sudden Faint Attack had caught Monsoon off guard and sent him flying backwards. Landing on his back, the turtle struggled to get back on his feet.
"Your tail! Use your tail!" Kevin called out to his Pokemon. "Once you're back on your feet, it's time for our secret weapon." I suppose there really isn't any reason to drag this out anyway.
The Squirtle began trying to use it's tail as leverage, as his trainer commanded. Try as he might, Monsoon just couldn't flip himself, so he improvised. Using his tail to spin himself around, Monsoon faced the Duskull on his back. Taking aim, a bright blue light shot out of the turtle's mouth in a thin, cold beam, racing towards the ghost Pokemon.

"Heh, Baby's not a baby anymore," Surge chuckled to himself as the newly-evolved Magmar rushed towards Raichu, ready to strike. The mouse had taken several steps back when the fiery tornado had started up, and when he saw the Magmar coming at him he got down onto all fours and dashed off to the side, not wanting to get close to Napalm. He could feel the heat from the Magmar and he knew that all of a sudden this fight had just gotten a lot harder.
"Stick with what we know, Raichu! Give 'em another Thundabolt!" Despite the sudden evolution Surge didn't seem to be shaken up in the slightest. In fact, he seemed to be very much enjoying the fight. Raichu took a deep breath and waved his tail back and forth, gathering as much electrical energy as he could before he fired it off in a concentrated blast at the Magmar.
=-=-=-=-= "We will?" Jaeshan repeated, blinking slowly. "Yeah, okay, I guess so," he said, shrugging. He didn't have a lot of experience battling with someone else and he'd only seen Keegan battle a few times, so naturally he was a little apprehensive about it. He looked towards the two guys, who seemed to mull Keegan's request over in their minds a few times before the moved aside to let him pass. Jaeshan quickly followed along behind Keegan, looking behind him now and then to confirm that the two meatheads were indeed still following them. "Are you sure this is a good idea?" he asked in a low voice as they entered the Pokemon Center. "I mean, uh.. well, I'm not very good at double battles." He leaned up against the wall to wait for Keegan to deposit one of his Pokemon.
=-=-=-=-= Shocker dropped to the ground in an overly-dramatic fashion as Serenity's Psychic blasted the door behind her, hitting it with such force that it was blasted off its hinges and thrown out into the hallway where it clattered against the wall. Shocker got to her feet, shaking the stray splinters and dust from her tawny fur before she shot a smirk at the Espeon. "See ya later, Pinky!" she shouted, turning sharply and running out into the hallway. Yessss! Freedom! the Raichu thought, racing down the corridor, though as she reached a corner she began to wonder if this really was a good idea after all. She took a deep breath and turned the corner, only to find herself face to face with a rather angry-looking owl-like Pokemon.
"Noctowl, use Hypnosis," Leo commanded angrily, glaring down at the would-be escapee. Noctowl let out a shrill hoot before it began to flap its wings slowly, the feathery crest on hits forehead glowing with a hazy blue. "Enough of these childish games."

"Alright Napalm!" Mike cheered, throwing both fists high into the air and letting out a short jovial laugh. This was incredible! All the work he put into raising him, all the pain the two experienced. It all lead up to this moment, and boy was it worth it. "Hahaha," laughed the boy again as he watched his newly evolved Pokemon swing and miss. "Don't get discouraged Napalm!" Mike shouted encouragingly, shaking from excitement. "We can't beat him in speed, but we have strength on our side! Use your Overheat! Let's heat this place up!"
Napalm grunted in annoyance as the nimble Raichu hopped out of the way from his Fire Punch, and threw out his right foot to catch himself. Now these are legs. the Magmar thought with a smile. Oh, he could actually smile now. Sweet. The crackle of electricity as the Raichu charged up another Thunderbolt attack snapped him back down to Earth. He could give himself an actual look over after the match, it's fightin' time! Napalm threw his arms up to shield his face and covered himself in flames defensively, hoping they would at least dull the effects of the flames. The lightning bolt struck him square in the chest, pushing him back a ways, the Magmar's claws making tracks in the ground. "Ag!" cried Napalm as he shook off the attack, getting ready for one of his own. The Spitfire Pokemon took in a deep breath, taking in the surrounding heat from the room and churning it inside his body. "MAR!" with a low cry, Napalm threw his head forward and expelled a giant wave of intense flames, causing the room to dramatically rise in temperature.

The beedrill weren't stopped yet. Their sharp stingers lashing out at both Booky and Calculus in a furious set of attacks. The dazzling effect of flash was wearing off, but the beedrill by Calculus's last psybeam struck itself rather than the offensive pokemon before it.
Calculus lunged forward tackling down the confused beedrill trying to even out the numbers for good. As it faded back into the blurring images of itself, Calculus was satisfied that the beedrill did not get back up. Only five remained.
Booky pecked the beedrill again. The bee-like pokemon falling back from the painful attack.
Meanwhile down below, the dripping wet Venerax edged closer both their pokeballs in hand ready just in case he had to recall them. There was only four of the angry beedrill still attacking Booky and Calculus, if they could keep it up they may just win. He smiled.

Kilik wanted to badly to stomp his foot. If there as one thing he hated more than Psychic-types, it was being Confused. Well, if he learned anything from being a Rocket, it was that anything could be overcome by sheer will power and no Pokemon had as much will as Aggron. He was confident that his beast would be able to handle it. "Okay, Aggron, push through it!" he barked, "And attack with another Metal Claw!" Perhaps the Confusion wear off quickly.
The behemoth stomped forward, his claws glowing brightly. He didn't know which one to attack: the moving red light or the two eyes. They looked so similar. Aggron roared in anguish, pushing as hard as he could to distinguish target from the Ray. He placed a claw on his face and dug down in rage, bellowing once more before swinging the attack to slash at the Gengar.

Giovanni laughed. Not at the comical presentation of the Haunter, but rather at the boy's comments. He knew the powers of Curse, and very well realized that his Tyranitar was doomed to an early grave. However, it wouldn't be Giovanni's style to not royally destroy something before finally falling down.
"Tyranitar, use your Ice Beam to finish it off!" The beast stomped into the floor, and shuddered. The image of Haunter's face being torn open haunted his mind. As the chill went down his spine, he felt his health being sapped away. Focusing through it, the Pokemon opened his mouth. The temperature in the room dropped suddenly as a ray of ice shot out of his mouth towards the Haunter.

"Ah, a wee lit'le fan club!" Wattson laughed, "I sure wish I had some when I was your age. But - -" his thought was cut off when he watched the Donphan fall from the sky and land directly on his Magneton, crushing it beneath her weight. He laughed heartily, placing a hand on his stomach to keep it from jiggling too much. "My goodness! How unexpected! Treated 'im like a bug, that one did!" The tri-magnet Pokemon floated up after the Donphan rolled away. That smarts!
"I think I'll use Tri-Attack once more. Do it, Magneton!" He swept his arm across. Once more, the magnets began to spin and the colors returned to their bodies. A blast of fire, a dash of ice, and a bolt of lightning reigned down onto the Donphan. Wattson smiled. "Ah, it feels great to battle again!"

Mitsu bit her lip, trying to think of a next move as Ebony easily dodged the oncoming attack without command. Kilik's Aggron had taken too long to decide allowing for a quick escape by the ever mischievous Gengar who jumped to the side as if he were in an intense action movie, hand held together like a gun.
Nothing Ebony had was really powerful against the Steel type. I need to give Ebony a better move pool Mitsu decided, not having faced off at such a disadvantage with Ebony before. And well, if Kilik disliked confusion and Pyschics, then Mitsu could definitely provide. "Ebony, we'll hit `em with a Psychic!" Mitsu said, authority ringing from her voice. If the confusion could last perhaps Ebony could pull it off, and even if he couldn't any of her next Pokemon would be able to.
The criminal was not cooperating! He'd have to use force! Ebony rolled on the ground, which looked quite comical, before stopping, half is body in the earth. "Pew! Pew!" Ebony hissed shooting off three Psychic waves at Aggron with his pretend gun. That outta subdue him enough for Ebony to throw him into the slammer!

Man, another one of those weird attacks! Not fair, couldn't the Magneton just pick ONE attack and just stick to it? Wishy washy, if you asked her! Guess some Pokemon just can't make up their damn minds. The Donphan rolled up in a Defense Curl in an effort to brace for the attack, but it didn't exactly help as much as she hoped it might. When she unraveled, she looked a bit roughed up, although she was all the more furious at this Magneton fellow. It had three heads and three attacks as opposed to her one attack and ... one head! (This took more computation in Tora's head than should have, sadly enough).
M.A. couldn't help but grin at Wattson's joviality despite the pickle she and Tora were in. At this rate, Tora would certainly lose. It didn't look like the Donphan could do much damage to the Magneton unless it sat there nice and quietly and took her hits for maybe five or so minutes, but it didn't seem to have any intention of complying. And Magneton was putting in more hurt to the elephant with that three-way attack thing. Only thing to do, she guessed. If you couldn't dent metal, you might as well melt it away! It seemed a bit cheap to switch half way, but she actually wanted to win; she had to show her brother that she was quite capable as a trainer.
Just before the Donphan was about to curl up again, M.A. intervened. "Sorry, Mr. Wattson, I'm afraid I'm gunna have to be unfair. Tora, tag-team time!" she commanded, Daemyn materializing at her feet. The elephant shook her head vigorously, obviously wanting to take down her opponent herself. The brunette would not be overruled this time, however, figuring she knew what would work best. "Tora," M.A. said coolly, a quiet, unusual authority rippling through her voice. Well, the elephant couldn't disobey that tone, and so trotted hastily out of the ring, slapping Daemyn's awaiting paw with her strong trunk. They were teammates, after all, for all their bickering.
And with that, the furious canine tore into the stadium, jaws agape with flames like the mouth to hell itself. Who knows why Tora couldn't take down a bucket of bolts, but he wouldn't make the same mistake!

London was certain Giovanni wouldn't have laughed if he had been able to hear the afterthought of the comment, but it was probably a good thing either way. If he was laughing he must be amused, which would mean a better chance of being accepted in - at least that's how London theorized it.
The Haunter had long since accepted his fate, but he was by no means about to just sit there. He held up his hands and stuck out his long tongue, blowing a raspberry at Giovanni and his Tyranitar. Haunter took the Ice Beam full in the face and was down for the count. London recalled the unconscious Pokemon and quickly pulled out another ball, this time launching it up into the air. The Gyarados that came out seemed like he barely fit under the room of the gym, and it let out a roar that was quite possibly heard inside the actual Rocket base.
Time to get serious. And destructive. Hydro Pump that overgrown lizard! London commanded, utterly dwarfed by the large water serpent. Gyarados was all too pleased to comply and leaned his head down and forward some to take better aim at the Tyranitar before the jet of water came bursting out of his gaping mouth. Regardless of whether it hit or not, everything on that side of the gym was about to be soaked.

Aggron stormed through the waves of energy, lowering his head. Totally uncalled for, the beast landed on all fours and prepared himself. To those around him, it appeared to be a Headbutt. Yet suddenly his cranium began to shimmer brightly. That same move that he'd used before in the Aqua Base was coming through. Using all the strength in his legs, the beast plowed forward and slammed his head hard against Ebony's shadowy body.
Kilik let out a low whistle. When the chips were down his Aggron certainly knew how to bring it back. But he knew that he wouldn't be able to take much more mental strain. He took a step forward and felt his leg shake beneath him. Ack! he though, steadying himself. Good job, Aggron, he thought. He's still confused...But if I know him, he won't let himself be taken down by another Pokemon. When he falls, it'll be him doing it. He had to think of his next choice carefully. He didn't know Mitsu's other three Pokemon (as he'd only seen Karri, Zephyr, and Ebony), so she had the element of surprise on him. Though he had a pretty good idea of who to pick next.
=*=
"Ahaha!" Wattson clapped his hands, "Good choice! Y'know, trainers rarely switch. It's quite an odd story, really, I don't see why they don't. Why take an unnecessary casualty? And you picked a goodAYEAYE!" he cried out, watching the fire blast out and scold his Magneton like it were nothing. The Pokemon fell to the ground in a heap, steaming and defeated. "Good show!" he laughed heartily, recalling his Pokemon.
"I remember a lass who had a Houndoom, too," he placed a hand on his chin and stroked, "Yeeees, but hers was blue. She was named after an article of clothin'. Mittens, I think the lassie's name was. Alas, the battle must go on!" He took a ball from his belt and tossed it. "Manectric, come on out!" he laughed. "Use ya Thunderbolt!" Not one moment out of the ball was wasted. The quadrupedal Pokemon crouched and let out a howl. A bolt of electricity shot out of his body, aimed straight for Daemyn!
=*=
Unlike Kilik in the sections before this, Giovanni wasn't going to watch his Tyranitar fall at all. As the Hydro Pump came at him, he recalled his beast and attached the ball to his belt. "He was guaranteed a faint. So let's just skip the technicalities and move on, shall we?" He took another ball from his selections and tossed it, revealing his Dragonite.
"I'd like to make this quick. Dragonite, use your Thunderbolt!" The yellow creature nodded and bellowed loudly. A streak of lightning went between his antennae and fired off at the Gyarados. Giovanni grinned - so much for this kid.

"Headbutt?" she asked, mainly to herself as she flinched slightly upon impact. That had to hurt. The attack had done did quite a number on Ebony. He definitely couldn't take another hit like that. And this is where she was stuck. She had two options, the ideas running as quick as a Jolteon in her mind. Option one was to use Curse. While it'd take out Ebony in the process, Aggron would be a gone as well. Option two was to try a Hypnosis attack. Risky, but it could provide a window to regain some stamina through Dream Eater.
Normally the girl would chose option one, adrenaline shot through her veins instantly just thinking of the choice. But then again she had tried that with Ivy and that didn't end too well. And Aggron was confused and not exactly the speediest of Pokemon. Her chances of having the attack take affect weren't too bad. Well, she'd take the risk. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Ebony! Let's try Hypnosis! Keep your distance!" Mitsu commanded mentally crossing her fingers. In case is didn't work out, he's have enough time to dodge the next attack.
OWWIE. What. A. Meanie. Ebony frowned; his new friend certainly wasn't very nice! Robbers don't smash their heads into the cops. No, they went to jail and sat there defeated. At least his trainer agreed. The Gengar disappeared into the earth, only to resurface a feet or two away. He grinned, thrusting his arms forward as his eyes widened, trying to lull the Pokemon to sleep.

Kilik shrugged. He wasn't exactly sure what the move was either. He'd really hoped that she would have gone with anything other than Hypnosis. He closed his eyes. "Metal Claw!" he ordered, hoping that he could manage the attack to go through before he fell asleep. Kilik's hands tensed up. This was going to be close. Real close. Luckily, if Aggron goes down, I can manage a victory with my other two Pokemon! he thought with a nod.
The Pokemon roared again to show his dominance. He moved forward and took the Hypnosis right in the face, but not before delivering the Metal Claw right to Ebony's chest. Aggron stumbled back, panting heavily, his eyes slowly closing. With a low grumble, the Steel-type fell asleep. He fell onto his stomach, snoring loudly.
Kilik could feel the earth shake with each snore. Man, oh man. Mitsu's got status on her side, he thought, While I plow through with pure power. Maybe I've got a little more to learn about how to battle.
