Streamjumper yaten *writes a speech about time management that she has to give in a few hours* crying oh god... i don't know what to say... Title it "Procrastination, the time killer." yeah, i've already got an entire section about procrastination... I just really hope that this thing isn't veering to far from the culinary profession. Though, i'm really not sure if this has to apply strictly to anything... bah... so far all i have is a basic outline: yaten's time management stuff A. What is Time Management Time management is prioritizing your daily activities and setting goals for yourself. It involves making the most of your time, which doesn't require that you always be busy, but does involve making real progress toward what you're trying to accomplish. In order to properly utilize the time you have, you must first recognize the differences between tasks that are urgent and those that are just important. Effective time management is about making sure you fully understand what is most important ,and, that this understanding you have is not clouded by a sense of urgency. So basically, we know to prioritize, decide what needs to be done first, and go for it. It is really important to, rather than go by the deadline given for something, set a deadline for yourself, and don't procrastinate. One of the best ways to manage your time, is to set up a block schedule for yourself, or, even better, to maintain a weekly planner. If you want to just do the bear minimum, you could even just write yourself a short to-do list. Set goals for yourself and follow the plan you set. Change the plan if necessary, but remember... you can't change your plans until you have a plan!

If I might make a comment on the Lina vs Girl Type Ranma thing...
I like Slayers more than Ranma 1/2. Not to say that I dislike Ranma, I just like Slayers more. And I've learned quite a bit about how things work in the Slayers world, using both the manga and the anime.
If Lina uses a levitation spell, she can't cast anything else. The way magic works in Slayers is that if you're maintaining one spell, like Levitation, you can't cast anything else at the same time. There was an example of a guy who DID cast a second spell while levitating, but that was because he had a magic item that could use it's own spells.
Raywing doesn't need to be maintained, so one can cast a second spell. But the way Raywing works is that you fly very fast. If she were to stop to try and cast an attack spell, she'd land. Something like Dark Mist, which is a dark cloud to obscure sight and is also an area affect spell, would work. But if you have to target someone, things are much more difficult.
As for her uber-spells, she only casts them while on solid ground. At least I have never seen Lina cast a DS while using Raywing. And yes, Lina does know a way to shortcut her spells, even the Dragon Slave...
"Darkness beyond twilight. Crimson beyond blood that flows...etc etc. DRAGON SLAVE!" (exact quote from the anime, in Slayers NEXT)
But, most of Lina's spells require a moment to concentrate. Girl type Ranma is fast enough to dodge the smaller offensive spells that Lina could toss off, so she would HAVE to use her bigger spells. The more powerful a spell, the longer it takes to cast. And if Ranma is constantly attacking Lina, she can't get her bigger spells off.
Lina would have to use Raywing, and then DS the entire area. That's about the only way Lina could win. The only thing that would save Lina is distance. And that's if Lina actually gets a chance to cast Raywing...
And the Giga Slave? In the manga Lina seals the Giga Slave away in such a way that even she can't unseal it.
Yes, I am a geek...but at least I do my homework... unlike some of those morons in the A/M/C forums.
