Are you hoping for a miracle? As the ice caps melt away. 60 I hate you both.
No use hoping for a miracle. There's a price we'll have to pay.

62 Since I am studying in a state university (State, as in national), religion is rarely discussed. In my Ethics subject and in my Natural Sciences subject, there is a clear separation between faith and reason. Even the founders of modern science like Newton and Galileo had proven that faith and reason are not separate entities, but complementary. I am studying scholasticism so that it can help me in both subjects and in life.

I'm spinning around! Move out of my way! 64 That was one thing I found interesting, how scholars used to use science to help prove the existence of God. What exactly is scholasticism? I remember being taught about it, but its meaning has slipped my mind. sweatdrop

66 Scholasticism is a tradition or school of philosophy, originating in the Middle Ages, that combines classical philosophy with Catholic theology. People like St. Thomas Aquinas are experts in that field.
The reason why it's related to my Ethics subject is because it is part of ethics in its entirety.

70 Indeed. 3nodding
At any rate, people like Chesterton are not taught in my classes. They are more likely to teach the likes of Nietzsche, Darwin, Freud and Marx.

74 The problem with Freud is that he had claimed that human behavior is influenced by environment. However, he is right to a point. Suppose a young woman had a crush on Justin Bieber. Freud's followers would say that it's because of peer pressure why that young woman has a crush on Mr. Bieber. However, they had underestimated the strength of free will. Had they investigated as to why that young woman has a crush on Mr. Bieber by asking her well, then there is a chance that they could be dead wrong.
Another one of the problems with Freud is that he tends to minimize the power of conscience.

I'm spinning around! Move out of my way! 74 He believed mostly in that many processes of the brain worked unconsciously. I always get a laugh at how he thought that we secretly desired to be with our mother or father, so we try to find the person closest to them. I suppose it has some validity, but he made it sound so nasty. xp

*checks schedule* It seems that my Natural Science subject will finish by December. surprised

80 Most of my subjects, yes. But, there are those that end earlier than others. At any rate, it is best if I study a lot this semester. surprised
*looks at the birth rates of many countries* At the rate we're going, we'll be extinct within 100 years or so.

84 Even India will suffer that fate. South Korea is way worse for two reasons: 1. A very low birth rate. Fewer couples have decided to marry. 2. That country has the highest suicide rate in the developed world. Many there have decided to kill themselves for one idiotic reason or another.
