Y A M A N A K A I don't care what the village wants. All I want is not to die without leaving a trace. A person?
It was a person!
His mind raced - he wasn't sure whether to feel relieved or not. But what sort of person will come all the way out here? A shinobi, for sure, why else will they come to a grove in the middle of nowhere... Wait, no! He didn't want to get caught yet! As if he was going back to that even more dangerous place that dared called itself the Kirigakure Academy! How the hell did such teachers even get certified by the law? Wait, were they even licensed...?
Naturally, he decided to run the hell for it.
Unfortunately, heaven had other plans. His shoe caught on a partially hidden root, and he tripped, tumbling down a sloping path. Dammit! Of course he forgets about Kiri elevation...
He groaned, laying there for a full moment on the bottom of the small hill. Judging by how the skin below his trousers hurt, and stung like hell, he was certain there was a scrape or two on the back of his legs. Great, he was going to be hurting tonight everywhere when he cleans up back in the apartment.
His head turned then to look at where his arms laid on the thicket, smarting thoroughly, and mentally moaned when he saw thin beads of crimson oozing out. If he had any doubts before, there will definitely be a parade of new scars and bruises for sure now. As if the scrapes on his palms from before weren't bad enough already!

And just like that, their communication ended... instead of words to guide her to where this new person was, she simply heard a hurried scraping through the woods, and then a thus... followed by the sound of something sliding down a hill? "Hey wait!" She took off after the sounds, unsure of who it could possibly be, or what was really even going on. All she knew was that she wasn't going to let this chance escape her. She might have a way out of here... she was going to make it!
Unfortunately she didn't pay much attention to her own listening skills, as she, too, tripped, making an echo of the previous thump noise... and then tubled down and on top of the boy. "Owwww...." Not good... not good... I'm gonna be in so much trouble...

Y A M A N A K A I don't care what the village wants. All I want is not to die without leaving a trace. He had a full long moment to admire the beauty of the sky, laying there still in stunned silence from the pain... But never mind that...the sun was so beautiful...so warm... And then...
THE LIVING BREATH OF LIFE WAS CRUSHED OUT OF HIM.
Help! Gasped Inori, now in even more pain. He was dying! He was sure of it! It was all the stingy Council's fault that he had gotten this thin. So of course he didn't have much buffer against the...the...this girl! And the dumb girl who just rained out of the sky was very much heavy! Can't she take a hint not to follow when he didn't bother answering her before? Why did people not understand actions better than words? Oh, why was he bothering even wondeirng...
"Get off!" Snarled Inori, an angry vein of indignation pulsing on his temple. He forced himself into a seating position, shoving the unwelcome intruder off him with his foot, not peculiarly caring which part of her it connected with. "You're heavy!"

She rolled to the side as he pushed her, immediately getting into a sitting position as well. Normally she wasn't that slow to react, but she didn't expect to land on a person... even a seriously bony one at that. She wouldn't be surprised if she had punctur wounds now. "Sorry..." Her grumbled voice came from under a hand that was rubbing at her cheeks, around the jaw and under the eyes... eyes of which were mismatched and appeared cloudy as they shifted towards his face. To her, she simply saw a white and yellow blur.
"You know... if I were a normal girl, I'd be insulted by that comment." Unfortunately for him, it's muscle mass... if I were chubby then he'd have someone softer landing on him, but with the potential of suffocation right afterwards. Pillow-boobs were dangerous... or so she'd heard. She looked around again at the green and brown around them... nothing distinct about the area at all. Figures. "Anyway, sorry about falling on you... I thought you might know the way out of this green hell. Thinking I had a chance, I went running without thinking... didn't even see the rock I tripped over." Which reminded her of a dull ache in her ankle and shin. She'd be fine, just not one hundred percent. "Are you okay?"
With another long pause and a quick look around, she continued... "And do you, by any chance, know where we are and how to get out?"

Y A M A N A K A I don't care what the village wants. All I want is not to die without leaving a trace. He was still furious about the unwelcome impact that-nearly-killed-him, however, the anger on his face quickly dissolved as he noticed something strange about the girl. Her eyes... They were weird, as if they captured light, and yet also didn't. What would his father call something like this again...? Cataracts? Yes, yes. Cataracts, it looked like she had those. But that didn't make sense, cataracts were an old people thing, and she looked about his age. Unless, that was a Henge she was holding...and Henge doesn't cover eye problems... Nononono. That didn't make sense.
"..."
His brows scrunched up into an unhappy expression as his face took on a thoughtful look. She was looking at his direction, but her eyes showed no focus... He was probably right then, there was something seriously wrong with her sight. A pitying expression formed on his face: but he was careful to keep the pity out of his voice, disabled people were usually sensitive like that.
"Erk...."
He didn't apologize about calling her heavy. Because she was and almost squished all the air out of his body. Obviously, that was all her fault his injuries got worse. But never mind that.
"How to say this..." He muttered, bringing up a hand to make his already messed up hair even messier.
"...it's kinda my first time here in this area."
Yep, they were sooooo lost.

As a proper response, she groaned at his answer. So, he has no clue either. Well... hopefully he didn't just get dumper here like I did.If that was the case, he might have a better sense of direction compared to her. Now. How did you tell direction? She'd heard something about how moss grows on the north facing side of rocks and trees, but she couldn't tell moss from a mushroom and she didn't want to go touching possibly squishy things. Hmmm... what about the direction of the "sun... Ah, do you know which direction the shadows were facign when you wandered in here? If we can match shadow direction, we can head in the direction you probably came from...?"
Then again, what were the chances he would remember something like that... she could barely tells shadows... just brown and green next to dark brown and dark green... and sometimes the dark wasn't the shadow, bu8t a pit or something.

Y A M A N A K A I don't care what the village wants. All I want is not to die without leaving a trace. For a long moment, he did not understand what she was rambling on about, until finally the realization dawned upon him. A shadow clock, was she talking about that? But, that was pointless, shadow clocks were shitty poor compasses, because as time goes on, the direction of the sun would also shift, and thereby the shadows will be slightly angled. Furthermore, if this had been any other place than Kirigakure no Sato or where the Yuki-onnas in the North lived, that might have been possible. Actually, scratch the line about the Fubukis, that place blew blizzards once a while.
Inori's eyebrows shot into his hair even as he placed a consoling hand on her shoulder. It was probably very insulting, or can be easily mistaken as insulting a gesture. But still, she should know, even if she cannot see.
"Ah-um? You do know this place...Kiri... Is usually covered by mist right? Just this place, just this place...is weird."
In short, he had no idea exactly the point where the lingering mist cleared, plus, in the part of the forest that was covered by mist, the sunlight would come at a more obscure angle than it would in this grove. No, a shadow clock will definitely not work.
He groaned, removing the hand from her shoulder and pressing it to his face. Why did this have to happen to him? What did he do to whatever-old-Man who was sitting up There? Did he perform some great violation in his previous life? This wasn't fair, he was hungry, he was planning to get food, and of all things that had to happen he had to get lost. Was it because he was going to put the fee on the Fubuki's tab? He promises that was just a jooooooke!
What to do...what to do... No! He must ignore the feelings of distress, that won't get them back to where they should be going. There must be a better way, other than using a shadow clock or whatever...
"Our tracks." He muttered. "Kiri doesn't have strong winds. I can try to locate for us the path we took in."
He got up, wincing at all the injuries, and made move a few steps.
He stopped long enough to look back at her.
"You coming?"

She kne wthat tone of voice... she did not like that tone of voice... it was part insult, whether intended or not, and part concern. The hand to her shoulder didn't help either. "Yes, I know that... I can feel it." Oh whatever... mist doesn't get rid of shadows completely... Though she knew nothing of them being so distorted in direction by the cold vapor. Her face was in grumpy mode, but that didn't stop her from trying to think of another way... just... how?
"Tracks?" Our foot prints... now there's an idea. "Except you won't find much of mine... I was sort of carried in... and then dumped. Maybe my cousin's prints are around, but... do higher ranked shinobi even leave foot prints? I've heard they don't... or they can hide them pretty well." She slowly got up as she thought about this, and only when she heard his voice a little further off did she step in his direction.
"Yeah, I'm coming." Damn this was embarassing... but at least she wasn't alone now. Even if the company wasn't the... kindest or helpful. Well, he was helpful... trying to be...they just had to succeed.

Y A M A N A K A I don't care what the village wants. All I want is not to die without leaving a trace. Inori sighed. Judging by the grumpy expression on her face, she was already insulted: why were disabled people so troublesome? But he shrugged off the thought for now, as he listened to her argument. He made a face: even though he had plenty of pride, the way she made the situation sound forced him to admit (albeit unwillingly)...
"There's still my tracks."
Now that really did hurt to say, but it was true. He lacked the skills of a shinobi, but this served also to their fortune. At least in this incident, he doesn't know about if it becomes evening before they make their way out. He wrinkled his nose a bit, and without any further words, turned on his heel and made the first few steps into the thicket.
He grimaced as with each movement his whole body began hurting more. He'll have to start off at a slow jog then. Besides, though he might not like this girl much, she was disabled, and that much courtesy he had to not just leave her behind.

It would be very safe to say that if Tebiki could hear his thoughts regarding her eyes, mixed in with all of that pity... she'd break his nose. Lucky for him, she had no such creepy talent and thus his nose was safe from becoming permanently twisted, malformed, or gushing red for at leats an hour.
At least we've got his tracks then... that's good. Though those would be hard for her to help find. Maybe if I try to feel them with my feet... if the soil is squishy enough the tracks should be deep... but if it's too squishy... eh... nevermind. She just needed to make sure she didn't lose him. He didn't seem to want her around, and though he was being nice enough to keep to a slower pace for her, there was still the chance he might try to ditch her.
He started off at a pace that sounded like a fast walk or a slow jog, and she quickened her pace to keep up. The dull pain in one leg grew, but she gritted her teeth between breaths. For the moment she just needed to keep him in her sights... The silence, even though it was only a few seconds, seemed a bit awkward to her... they were two young people that knew nothing of eachother... so, maybe she should get to know the guy that was helping her?
"So, ah... how long ago did you graduate the academy? Was it fun?" Because, surely no one who hadn't already been through it, except circumstances like her own, would be willingly wandering about in the mist and mud.

Y A M A N A K A I don't care what the village wants. All I want is not to die without leaving a trace. His sour face only grew even more sour as she began asking questions.
"I am not obliged to answer a stranger." He replied brusquely, before jogging off.
Yes, he was being a jerk, but he wasn't about to admit that. Nor was he about to admit to a total stranger he hadn't graduated. Besides, disabled or not, it didn't change the fact that it was this girl's fault he got more injuries added to his collections. Besides, also with how she got here-...
Hold on a minute. His mind backtracked. She said that cousin of hers brought her into the forest - right? And that the cousin was also of high rank. That could only mean two things: the first, her family was mostly into the trade, or the second, she is part of a larger family like the Yuki-onnas of the north.
His mouth twitched into a grim smile. Technically, he could be lazy right? If it gets too late, her clan surely would send people out to look for her. Yes... This was the only reason why he'll put up with her for a bit. It was brilliant, he'll just sit and wait.
Not!
If he had ate before, it would be fine! But he hadn't, and he was hungry!

"Of course not... I was just trying to make conversation. You know... pass the time, distract from the fact that we could be out here all night and no one would care." Nonchalaunt cruelty at it's best. She picked up the pace again, as now it seemed his irritability was pushing him further away. Why is he so grumpy. Sure I fell on him, but that was an accident and I did apologize. Does he like holding grudges or something? And why so sensitive about my question..?
"Well, since I still have stranger status to you... my name is Tebiki... may I at least ask your name so I don't call you "boy" or "hey you"?" It was a reasonable request, right? She thought so anyway. Besides, if they moved from strager status to aquaintence status, she figured she should be able to ask questions without the snippy attitude biting her back.
While she tried to keep up with him, she noticed that the area she'd pushed through to find him was gone... either that or backwards and thus a "different" area to her. This really sucked. I'm almost sorry I made that bet... Pride kept her from fully admitting to any previous wrong doing, though.

Y A M A N A K A I don't care what the village wants. All I want is not to die without leaving a trace. Inori's brow twitched, and though the urge to stop and yell at her was great, he didn't slow his pace. The fireworks of pain that sprinkled here and there all over his body did not make his less-than-amicable moods any better.
"What do you mean no one would care?" He grumbled, his tone coming off about as grumpy as he could manage. "Not like you're also an orphan or something." It was a crass way of putting things, for sure, but it wasn't like he particularly cared about her feelings. Besides, given by the fact that she at least had a cousin around...
But the sour expression faded away into a merely dissatisfied look at her next inquiry.
"Inori." He muttered, his tone uncharacteristically quiet for once.
And then he repeated again, louder this time.
"Tsukimiya Inori."

She paused for that moment, actually feeling bad for once that day. "I'm sorry... I didn't know that... I was mostly referring to my cousin and such... lost a bet an all... if someone did come looking for me, it wouldn't be until tomorrow." She shrugged and quieted. "Didn't meant to insult you or anything... Inori-san."
So, she'd run into a snarky boy with no parents and was stuck in the woods with him until they could find their way out... "Well, now that we know each other's names, that makes us aquaintences rather than strangers now. So...? Any hints about the academy? I'm supposed to be getting in soon, I want to be as prepared as I can be." Her mood was brightening already. She was probably going to be a pain in the a** to him for a while.
Of course, while following, she was basing everything off of what she heard. She could not hear a root that was sticking out of the ground. She could hear, however, the twigs and bush branches crackinga round her as leaves were stripped from them during her face-first fall into the dirt. Good going, Tebiki... She managed to push herself to her knees, and in the process of doing that, felt a slight indentation in the ground, oddly textured... "Hey... is this a shoe...?"

Y A M A N A K A I don't care what the village wants. All I want is not to die without leaving a trace. Inori shrugged.
"Haven't gotten a clue." He replied dryly, wrinkling his nose slightly in distaste. "It's probably just a boring place with ranting old people anyways." Of course, he neglected to mention from the brief "preview" he had of the Academy, the instructors also seemed fairly crazy. He was pretty sure vikings were not experts of Suiton manipulation and buildings don't just have water exploding if nobody was the culprit responsible for such an event.
With that said, he refocused on the path that laid before him. First, they would have to climb the slope they had fell down from... Which meant going around was more easy than wasting extra energy scaling elevation. Oh, what a pain. This was even before they could find what remained of their -- well, his -- footsteps.
His emerald-eyed glare burned irritably at the sky.
Better not decide to rain.
After all, Kiri was famous for its sudden squalls...
His angry trial of thought was interrupted by her voice.
"What?" He grumbled. "What shoe?"
