Ky's words had further soothed her. Reassurance always worked well for MA, after all. By the time her head hit her pillow, her worries were only a soft murmur in her mind, tucked away for the next day. With speed that could make any Rapidash turn green with envy, she soon found herself gently absorbed into her world of dreams -- not the most happy-go-lucky dreams she ever had, but they couldn't be called dark, either. And her three faithful Pokemon companions were just as quickly lulled into slumber, all of them resting on the bed across from their one and only trainer.

"Wait, wait. You're telling me that Oracle and the rest of Sabrina's Pokemon disabled one of Nina's memories?" Anna shrugged-- well, sort of-- and nodded. Before she started to talk though, she turned around and used Psychic to shut the door. "Yeah. Like I'd said, Nina felt like the root of her behavior had stemmed from the incident when Sabrina died. In a sense, she's right-- I mean, sure, she was a little annoying every now and then before it happened, but everyone is sometimes. But after it happened, Nina actually started to kill people-- she went on a rampage to seek revenge when her sister was killed, and she took out the very person responsible for robbing Sabrina of her own life. I won't say that's understandable to kill someone, but it is reasonable to want to get back at the person responsible for causing the event. At that time, she wanted Giovanni dead, but Mike was there to not only stop her from seriously injuring herself, but also to protect her as she was escaping from the Viridian Gym.

"There was... another instance when Nina killed people, too. Maorde was able to more or less brainwash her into his method of thinking-- he had her convinced that nobody wanted her around, except for Maorde himself, and that she was unloved, except only by Maorde-- stupid things like that. That time, though, Nina ended up taking the lives of six more Rockets, inside of the Radio Tower. This was... back at home in Goldenrod." Anna was quiet for a moment. "After that, Nina started to get more reckless, and rude, and just generally cold to people in general. Before the procedure was performed earlier tonight, Nina told me that she didn't want to be like that anymore, and she believed if she could remove the root of the problem, things would change. But, I could tell that wasn't the only thing she was concerned about."

"Well, what else could she be concerned about?" Raimundo asked, a little confused.
"Well, before I answer that, let me tell you this. Since I am a ghost, and I have lived with Nina ever since the day of my birth, I have developed the ability to read minds. I am also able to see people's auras-- that is, the life force that surrounds a person's body. When a Pokemon uses the Psychic attack, they take control over their opponent. To do this, the Pokemon using Psychic forces their own aura into overtaking their opponent's body, thus temporarily ruling over the other Pokemon's aura. When a Pokemon is under the influence of Psychic, their own life aura becomes jagged and spiky and unsteady." Pause.

"Nina's aura was jagged and spiky before the procedure was done. When a person's aura is like that, it means that something is wrong or they are troubed-- obviously a minor influence to her nervousness was if the procedure would work. So, I read Nina's mind to see what the problem was. It turns out that she was terrified to death of the fact that she would go on yet another killing spree, and that she would end up killing the both of you."

"And so she decided to have done to her what she did. Tch." Raimundo sat forward on the chair he was in, resting his erected, bent elbows on his knees, leaning down and holding his head in his hands. "What happens if Nina ever finds out what really happened to Sabrina?" Anna shook her head. "Dunno. She'd probably just be really confused and deny it, because people would be playing on an event that Nina doesn't have any recollection of. That would be like... eh, I don't know. Me telling you that Torrent was actually stolen from another trainer when he was a Horsea, but the person who stole him had released him into the wild, just before you caught him."
"What?" Rai said, looking up. "But that's--"
"Completely inane, I know. That's similar to how Nina would likely react if someone told her that her sister had died. But, just for her sake, let's never mention the event to her. And it's not likely she'll be asking about the event anyway, since she's already been presented with the information she asked for prior to the procedure."

"Well, I just hope that what she did won't come back to bite her in the future. And I hope that this entire "procedure" she went through really did work, because I can't stand to have her endanger my life again."
"And I can only take listening to her sob stories so much before it really gets to me. She acted like everything she went through was so much worse than anything that we could have possibly gone through." Raimundo idly ran a hand along his scalp.
"...Oh yeah. I forgot that the both of you were kind of mad at her from earlier."
"Well, for me, that'd be stating it mildly."
"Oh, likewise."

Anna sighed. "Come on, you guys. I can't stand seeing you all fighting. When Nina approaches you guys tomorrow, do you promise to at least give her a chance to make up with you? You've all gotten along so well, and it'd be terrible to throw away such a good friendship." Even if she did almost kill Whitney.

The girl sighed. "Okay, fine. I'll give her a chance." Raimundo nodded a little bit, too. "Yeah. I mean, she risked so much for herself while still keeping us in her thoughts. It's the least that we can do." The Ghost Pokemon smiled. "Thank you. And, I'm sure that Nina will be thankful, too." Whitney rolled her eyes a little. "Yeah, yeah. In the meantime, I would be thankful if I got some fricking food in my stomach. I'll be right back." She swirled her legs to the left side of the bed, and stood up-- the floor was cold. "Wait, Whitney. Shouldn't you push the call button and "be staying in bed," or whatever crock the doctors said?" She laughed. "Oh, the hell with that," she said, as she walked toward the door, her head turned to look back at Raimundo and Anna as she was talking. "I'm going to the nurses' area and demand food. They can't say no if I'm standing right in front of them." She giggled a little, and opened the door, to step outside in the hallway.

But, she bumped into someone. "Agh, I'm sorry," she said, turning her head to look straight. "I wasn't looking where..."

"It's not a problem."

About a good hour or so after Ky fell asleep, Nurse Joy was awakened by the rattling of one of Ky's Pokeballs. After a couple of wobbles, Little Guy burst out, a sleepy but concerned look on his face. He scanned the PokeCenter until he found Ky and then quickly, but silently flew over to the couch, making sure to not awaken any of the trainers, including Ky. Also to Little Guy's relief, Nurse Joy eventually fell asleep again (she wasn't really in the mood to chase a bird around this late at night). Little Guy then did one more scan of the area before he focused his eyes on Ky. A strange blue glow began to radiate from the bird's right eye, and soon Ky's forehead began to glow with the same blue hue. To Ky, it felt like a dream.

Feeling a strange pressure in his head, Ky woke up. At first, everything looked normal, but he soon found that everyone inside of the Pokemon Center was missing, aside from him and to his surprise, Little Guy. Not only that, but everything he saw was in black and white. Ky rubbed his eyes a bit and tried to gather what was happening. "Hey, Little Guy, what's going on? Where'd everybody go?" Ky asked sleepily. Little Guy just stared at Ky, but to Ky's shock a voice came to his head:

"I'm very sorry to wake you Ky,
But I need you to follow me.
The future has passed before my eye,
And it deeply involves your family."

Ky's jaw dropped. "This has to be a dream," he thought as he pinched himself. To his surprise, he felt pain. Not sure what to think, Ky decided to go along with it. "Wh-what? My family?" Ky finally stuttered. Little Guy nodded:

"Your brother, your sister, your father, your mom;
They all are fast asleep.
Please listen to them and please stay calm.
The messages they bring are deep."

Little Guy then began to hop towards the exit, making a small wing movement for Ky to follow. Still stuck in a daze, Ky could only stand and nod, following as Little Guy led the way. Just as he expected, the PokeCenter's doors slid open, and he made his way carefully down the steps. What he didn't expect, was to see his mom waiting for him at the bottom. She was pale and ghost-like, but that didn't stop Ky from running over to greet her with a hug. To his relief, his mother was comfortably tangible, feeling the warmth of her body that he missed so much. Through happy tears, Ky looked into his mom's eyes with a smile. His mother then spoke:

"Why do you cry my little boy?
Being alone can't be all that bad.
Your eyes show tears that are full of joy,
Yet inside you are also sad."

A little thrown off by the rhyming, Ky was hesitant to speak. Despite that though, he knew somehow he was truly speaking to his mom. "I don't know, Mom. I guess I'm still upset that Crenu left. I thought he was going to stay with me longer, or at least say goodbye without... changing," he said. His mom's face became concerned. "Something just makes me feel like he's going down the wrong path and I... I feel so helpless," Ky choked, feeling the pain he had felt before wash over him again, though this time he had his mother's arm to cry on. Ky's mom smiled a bit and pat him on the back reassuringly.

"Do not cry my eldest son.
In time you'll help your friend.
Even if the dark has won,
He'll need you in the end."

And with that, Ky found himself stumbling forward, his mother fading into thin air. Upset and confused, Ky looked lost, until he saw his brother running towards him from a distance. Again, his complexion was like a ghost, but he wore the same goofy smile that he always had.

"Brother, I have to ask you:
How have you done so far?
Your badges seem so few.
Are your goals staying on par?"

Again, Ky found the rhyming odd, especially with the word use coming from his brother. Couldn't his family speak English English? Nevertheless, Ky answered. "I'm not sure if I'm doing what's right. I want to help my friends, but I also want to get stronger," Ky said with a sigh. "Sometimes I just want to start over, ya know? When I think about it, everything that's been happening on my adventure so far has just been hurtful. Makes me want to go home." Al listened and shook his head.

"Do not leave your dreams behind,
And do not ignore your pain,
With heart, and soul, and will, you'll find
A power you must obtain."

Al then faded into the darkness, his words ringing in Ky's ears. "Since when was he able to say things like that?" Ky asked himself. A familiar voice answered:

"Al's always been a kid of wisdom,
And it'd be good to follow his advice.
Heck, I'd have ran over and kissed him,
If my lips weren't as cold as ice."

Ky turned slowly, almost afraid to see what he knew he would see. He couldn't believe it. "T...Trea," he said, taking in the new look of his sister. It had been a long time, and already he could tell how much she had grown. She was quite a few inches taller and had a certain air of supremacy around her. Then suddenly, Ky looked into her eyes and found something very, very disturbing. Her glare was chilling to the bone and it left him feeling alone, horribly alone. Endless emotions crashed into him. He felt sadness, disappointment, failure, and pain, torturous unimaginable pain, all from one glance of his sister's stare. He might have compared it to Crenu's eyes the time he left, but this was much stronger and so potent Ky couldn't bear it. "No!!! What happened?!" Ky screamed at the top of his lungs. Trea simply grinned in return. He couldn't understand what was happening. Memories of his sister raced through his mind, but anytime he tried to focus, a sharp, splitting pain ended it. Falling to one knee, he tried to relieve the pain by ripping out chunks of grass in anger. He really didn't know what drove him towards this agony, but in his heart, he felt as if he had missed something, something he couldn't control. A sense of urgency overwhelmed him. He wanted to help, somehow. He wanted to ease the pain he felt from his sister. "But... I'm so powerless," he choked. As more tears fell to the ground, he could hear his sister laughing.

"Do not worry my little brother.
Your presence is soon to matter.
Save yourself or save another.
Either way your heart will shatter."

As Trea disappeared, her laughter hung in the air, sending chill after chill running down Ky's spine. Again he felt the pain of loss in his heart, the same that he felt for Crenu. His sobs seemed to go on for an eternity, until he felt a large hand on his shoulder, rubbing it for comfort.

"It's nice to see you; it's been awhile.
I'm sorry I can't be here to help.
My boat's been swept up by a Totodile,
And I'm stuck in a forest of kelp."

In a bittersweet moment, Ky couldn't help but laugh at the familiar lyrics. Being a ship captain, his father always came up with crazy songs, usually involving random absurd events that he'd make up on the spot. For once, the rhymes actually seemed natural. When he looked up at his dad's face, he found a look of caring, with kindness and sorrow both showing in his grin. Comparing this to Trea's, Ky could only sob some more, remembering Trea's words. "Dad, what's happened to Trea? What does she mean my 'heart will shatter'? I'm scared, Dad. I don't know what to do," Ky said. His father then knelt as well, putting his other hand up to Ky's cheek to meet each other's gaze.

"Do not fear your father's daughter.
Just remember what she gave.
With this you'll save your friends from water,
And dodge the massive tidal wave."

His father then stood up and waved, his figure disappearing like the others. As Ky looked up, color began to refill the dream world, the sound of insects chirping in the distance filling his ears. Then, to his horror, he found that people began to fill the world as well. He had properly woken up, outside the Pokemon Center on one knee. A circle of people had surrounded him, watching in wonder and confusion at the spectacle. Even Nurse Joy stood nearby, biting her nails, not sure how to 'help' the boy. In reality, everything Ky did and said in the dream world, happened in the real world. Realizing this, Ky could only gulp under the staring eyes of the people. To his side, he could hear Little Guy coo in laughter.

Miharu spent a little while longer starting to bond with her newest Pokemon, which didn't look like it was going to be much of a problem. Sparkle was proving to be quite the little ball of energy, hoping along the girl's side as they entered the Pokemon Center for treatment. Miharu laughed as the little sheep rubbed up against her leg, and when she patted Sparkle's soft wool, she was reminded of cotton candy. The Mareep looked rather sad as Miharu temporarily recalled her into her Pokeball to get her healed, but as soon as the nurse returned the capsules, Sparkle burst from her confinement with ease, dancing around her trainer's legs happily.

The young trainer took a moment to study the map on the wall by the exit. She could see that it would be easy to take the small route that joined Violet and Goldenrod City, but at the same time, if she went back through Union Cave and Ilex Forest, she'd be given a lot of opportunities to train her Pokemon, especially Sparkle. Miharu found herself unable to make a choice on which way to go, so she took a coin from her pocket, and prepared to flip it. "Heads, we'll go the long way, tails and we'll take the shortcut," she told Sparkle, who bleated happily and waved her tail, which was glowing slightly. Miharu tossed up the coin and caught it before slapping it onto her hand, and looked at the Mareep. "Call it," she told the Pokemon, who twitched her ears and turned around, shaking her tail at the girl. Laughing, Miharu uncovered the coin, and had a look. "You were right," she told Sparkle. "It's tails, so we'll take the shortcut through Violet."

Together, Miharu and Sparkle exited the Pokemon Center, and once again began to head north to Violet City. This time, she didn't see Kurine anywhere, and she assumed that her new acquaintance had gone off to do her own thing. "Good luck, Kurine, wherever you are," she said softly, continuing to walk. The familiar route passed by rather quickly, maybe because Miharu had now figured out the fastest way back to the city. She passed by the trainers' school, and soon after that, the gym, and she silently wondered if she'd captured a Mareep sooner, if her battle with Falkner would have been any easier. She stopped to ask for directions, and soon was on her way, passing through the small town and finding herself on the right path. A nearby signpost read "Ruins of Alph", and pointed out the proper direction to take to reach it, but Miharu wasn't interested in exploring ruins just now.

Included in those circle of people was a groggy and perplexed MA, her head tilted to one side. Apparently, she had scooped up Little Guy and was now holding him loosely in her arms. "Heeeey Ky, you there?" she asked rhetorically, absently waving a hand an inch from the boy's face. Too close, maybe, but we must note that MA wasn't exactly sensible or all-there when she first woke. Especially not so early. She had somewhat expected to sleep in, after all, but here they all were quite awake at five in the morning.

It took a while before she realized that she was being retarded, and shook herself to at least half her senses. "Are you okay?" she murmured quietly, taking the edge of the thin blanket around her shoulders (she'd dragged that out without thinking) and wiping away the twin trails of tears on the younger boy's cheeks. Turning to backwards with her head, she waved with her free hand for the other folk to leave, mouthing that things were okay. The random trainers and such slowly complied, leaving with a hesitant Nurse Joy at the rear.

Now that they were alone, MA was tempted to barrage Ky with questions, but she knew better than to push things. Her expression plainly showed concern (and some curiousity), however, so she intently held his gaze. "We were worried; you were sleepwalking and talking." Talking to his family, she might've added, but decided against bringing up something he might not want to talk about. By hearing his sleeptalking, they all might've heard something that Ky considered personal or something.

Ky wasn't really sure what to say. He watched as the crowd walked away, then looked at M.A. in confusion. He wasn't sure whether to be embarrassed, frightened, maybe half-and-half? With a dazed look on his face, Ky stared down at the grass-less holes he had made. "What was all that?" Ky asked himself in a soft, almost inaudible voice. He looked to Little Guy, puzzled. "You, you talked to me?" he asked the bird. Seeing no need to keep it secret, Little Guy nodded. Again, Ky looked off into space. The rhymes he had just heard kept repeating in his mind. "Trea..." he mumbled. Then, came a small smile and a nod. "I'm okay, M.A.... Sorry for waking you. I just... I don't know right now," Ky said, getting up slowly. Still locked in a mesmerized trance, Ky started to walk back into the Pokemon Center. He had a lot to think about, and it seemed a shower was just what he needed at the moment.

He doesn't seem okay. His words, his smile, nothing was very convincing at all. But it didn't seem like he was ready to talk about it, if he ever wanted to at all. All she could do was hope that he knew that she was there for him if he needed her; they were friends, after all.

"Should I be worried?" she mused aloud as she followed the boy back into the PokeCenter, looking down at Little Guy as she did so. The Natu seemed to know more than anyone else, after all. Well, the only thing I can do is stick it out and give him support with whatever we're doing. Whatever happens, it'd be harder and lonelier if he had to do it alone.

// ooc // Morning time? //
PostPosted: Thu Jul 12, 2007 3:20 pm

// ooc // Yep. Five o' clock as you said is fine with me. *wink* //

Little Guy looked up at M.A. and gave a reassuring shake of the head. With one wing, he pointed to Ky and then poked himself twice in the head. "Natu, natu," he chirped with a serious tone.

Meanwhile, Ky looked back over his shoulder to see that M.A. was following him. He really was surprised that M.A. didn't find him psycho or something. He was always so afraid of weirding people out, but for some reason, he felt incredibly comfortable around M.A. He guessed that's why they were friends after all. Maybe after the shower he would tell M.A. what had happened. If anything, he owed her for clearing the crowd. Not to mention he always left so many of her questions unanswered in the first place.

Ky made his way over to the couch, grabbed a towel, some shampoo and some soap from his backpack, and made his way to the shower. Ky really didn't enjoy showers all that much. For some reason, a while back, Ky's right arm became suddenly very sensitive to heat, and Ky couldn't even take lukewarm showers without holding his arm outwards to avoid the scalding sensation. Instead, he learned to take ice-cold showers, which though they were uncomfortable, the fact that he could clean himself without pain was bliss.

After one quick turn of the 'cold' handle, Ky undressed and stepped into the shower. As he rinsed himself off with soap and water, he thought of his dream's meaning and what his family had been trying to tell him.

Whitney felt her eyes grow enormous and her heart freeze. Her eyes instantly welled up with tears, giving them a glossy demeanor, and she took less than half a step backwards. "Maorde," she said-- although just barely; it sounded as if she were going to break into crying at any given second-- "wh...at do you want?" The man tilted his head a little, a smile of sarcasm and cuteness on his lips. "Suddenly I need to want something to visit a few of Nina's friends? Whitney, you hurt my feelings!" He reached forward as if he were going to grab her, but Raimundo grabbed her by the back of her hospital gown, pulling her back close to his body. "You leave her alone," Rai warned, a look on his face that could kill. "You have no business whatsoever being here, so you'd better--"

"I'd better what?!" The man boomed, seeming to shake the very foundation that the hospital was resting on. "Leave her alone, I suppose? And what happens if I don't; do you intend to do something about it?"
"No, but I will," Anna said, floating toward the man, while quickly glancing at her friends, nodding towards the window; out of the corner of her eye, she watched the both of them back up towards it. Open it and escape if I can't do something to get rid of this guy, she telepathically stated, to Raimundo and Whitney.

The Ghost Pokemon turned to look back at Maorde. "I mean it. You get the hell away from us or I'll do something to make you." Anna displayed a terrible, dark expression on her face-- it was, in a sense, a Mean Look, minus the actual part where she made her opponent slow down. Her amorphous body was billowing as if a wind was blowing, while the gems around her neck glowed brightly-- they were only reacting to Whitney's fear of Maorde, however.
The man seemed amused at Anna; he laughed a little. "Very cute, little Misdreavus. You want to attack me?"
"No, I don't want to attack you. It is never right for a Pokemon to attack a human, though clearly you have no grasp on that concept. Your morals, your values of being a Pokemon trainer haven't seen the light of day in centuries, and clearly you've forgotten the point of becoming a Pokemon Trainer-- to raise Pokemon in a loving environment. And if you're endangering the lives of two people I care for very much, then I may desire to take appropriate action in protecting them." Pause. "Why are you laughing?"

"Oh, it may be for no reason. Tell me, dear Misdreavus, what species of Pokemon are your parents?"
"What? What the hell does that have to do with anything?"
"In time. Just answer my question, Misdreavus."
Reluctantly, she did. "My mother was a Misdreavus and my father was a Haunter. Why?"
Sneer. "And, your grandparents?"
"I'm told they were a Misdreavus and a Muk. Why do you care?"
"And before them?"
"A Misdreavus and a Banette-- why?!"

The man grinned immensely and laughed again, a gleam in his eyes. "Well well, isn't this something! It appears you are the descendant of an incarnation of one of my Pokemon!"

It was at that moment that Anna felt the greatest shock run through her body, followed by a wave of numbness. "...What?"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 13, 2007 11:21 am

Beside the little bird's "no," all his other movements' meanings were lost upon M.A. Something about Ky's head? A head-ache? Temporary insanity? An self-induced illusion? Memory loss? Huh? . . . Ohhh. A dream. That made sense. Although that didn't tell her much in all honesty, she thought, feeling a tad exasperated. She wanted to know what was up in Ky's noggin, what was bothering him. What could he be dreaming about that could send him into such a state? M.A. hadn't been there whenever the whole sleepwalking scene started, having ran out of the PokeCenter when she heard him screaming, but she had seen all of his grass-icide and a good deal of tearful blubbering.

Well, she trusted Little Guy and his knowledge of the matter, so she took her maternal tendency to over-worry and gave it the boot. If the Natu wasn't too concerned -- which mean Ky wasn't going mentally unstable on her or something -- then she didn't have to be either.

Once inside the lobby, she decided that this eventful start would keep her from falling asleep again, no matter how early in the day it was. She was a morning person anyways. So, leaving Little Guy by Ky's bag, she went off to clean herself up in the ladies' restroom, coming back out five minutes later looking far more refreshed and alert. Unlike some gals nowadays, she didn't take the time to make sure that every eyelash was in place and that her face was perfectly drawn all over. On the way back to the main room, she had recalled Daemyn and Tora into their Pokeballs seeing that they were still snoozing adorably (Ulani was already up and about, blithely chirping and singing to greet the day as she was accustomed to).

All there was left to do was wait for Ky, grab some breakfast, and wait a little while longer to go back to the Gym and see to things. That reminded her. . . the Scyther from yesterday, it wasn't Bugsy's, right? Then what was to become of it? Looking about sharply, she soon pinpointed Nurse Joy and waltzed over to the kind woman. "Excuse me, but would you mind my asking how that Scyther's doing from last night?"

The woman looked a bit confused at first but quickly remembered the happenings of last evening. An amused grin planted itself on her lips as she noted M.A.'s sheepishness -- the girl was very much back to her mannerly self, now. Perhaps she was just a tad ornery when she was tired. "Oh, it should be fine, though it's still probably resting from over-exertion."

"I'm all ready," Kasiya nodded, holding out her arm for Levi. The small Mudkip climbed up onto her hand, then crawled up her arm and perched on her shoulder, quite content to remain there for the time being. Kasiya felt glad that Levi was already opening up to her, and she smiled at Keegan as she made sure everything was in order before heading towards the sliding doors. "To the harbor," she nodded, once again leading the way.

The Pokemon Center wasn't terribly far from the harbor, and soon the small group arrived, and Kasiya wasn't surprised to see a decently sized ferry docked nearby, awaiting passengers. Still unsure if Keegan would actually follow her onto the boat (she did remember that he wasn't exactly fond of boats and water in general), she made her way over to a small booth where they seemingly sold tickets. After purchasing one, Kasiya looked once more to her friend, giving a small inclination of her head in case he wasn't coming with her, and handed the man her ticket, watching as it was then promptly tore it in two. After obtaining her stub, she boarded, and stood at the railing nearby, taking in one last look at her beloved hometown before she'd be leaving it yet again.

"You heard me," Maorde said, wearing some sick, twisted grin on his face. Anna couldn't believe him-- wouldn't believe him. "Maorde, if this is another one of your disgusting tricks, I swear I'll make you pay." The man laughed. "Do you honestly think I'd be making this up, really?" She was briefly quiet. "No. But what the hell makes you think that I'm a descendant of an incarnation of one of your Pokemon?"

The man crossed his arms, wearing a tiny grin on his face. "You see, the very first Pokemon that I had ever caught in my career as a trainer was an Abra. I naturally evolved it into a Kadabra, and then finally an Alakazam. I loved my Pokemon, and the power that it wielded was unparalleled even to Sabrina's own Alakazam. However, when it came time to having him... dispose of people, he was firmly opposed to the idea. There was one day where I ordered him to eliminate a small group of people, back when we were in Europe. He was terrified of the thought and he refused, and he spouted out how "it was never right for a Pokemon to attack a human." And, you know, the rest of that little speech that you made? He spoke that verbatum to me that day. He did, however, come around to my way of thinking eventually."

Anna shook her head. "No. You're just screwing with my head, I know it. So what if I happened to restate something that a Pokemon did centuries ago? You're just looking for some similarities to get into my mind." The jewels around her neck began to glow a little, but she didn't notice.
"Oh, really? Alakazam was scared at the premise of attacking a human being. You are in front of me and have threatened to attack me, yet... you are afraid of doing so, too." He grinned, pointing out Anna's glowing necklace.
...It reacts to MY fears? the Pokemon thought, feeling a bit defeated. "No. That-- so what?! Those are just coincidences, nothing more!"
The man sneered. "All right, then. Don't you think it's just a little bizarre that, out of every single trainer in the free world, you wound up as my daughter's companion?"

He had her. Anna didn't know how to retaliate, so she found a much more practical solution. Whitney, Raimundo! Open that window and get on your Pokemon! Fly back to Saffron and get Nina, and get the hell out of here! I'll hold him off-- I'll battle him or something to stall for time!" Raimundo instantly got started on opening the window, but...
"What?!" Whitney hollered, "Anna, you can't be serious--!"
"I am serious!"
"But what about you? How do we know you'll get out safely?!"
"Whitney, don't question me, dammit! Just do as I say!"
"Whitney, come on! It's either Anna stays and buys us time, or we all get screwed over!"

Whitney didn't like either choice, but Rai snatched her clothes by the bed and gave them to her. Hastily, she put them on over her hospital gown, and pulled out Rio's Pokeball, being grabbed by the arm and pulled back toward the open window. The night air was pouring in. Hesitantly, Whitney threw Rio's Pokeball out the window, releasing her Pokemon who flew upwards, while Raimundo did the same with Fearow's Pokeball. He jumped out the window onto his Pokemon, looking into the hospital room at the occupants.
"Anna, I can't leave you here!" She was on the verge of tears, but the Ghost Pokemon hollered at her to leave. It was only with the greatest reluctancy that the Gym Leader jumped out the window onto Rio, taking off on foot-- it was a known fact that Dodrio was a much faster runner than flyer-- towards Saffron, with Raimundo up above her. She could be heard crying as she was racing off.

Anna backed up a little bit, her body billowing in the breeze that was coming in through the open window. "I can't allow you to go after them," she said, staring at the man. Maorde Menskr was not about to be intimidated, however. He drew a Pokeball from his belt with a terrible sneer. "As you wish."
