Comfy pillows...I need to swipe mine when I go back to the castle...which I don't dare do...I screwed up royally...I told Champhy I missed my mama...and would give anything to have one...

shia smiles sadly... did ma ever tell ye how she met champhy... it's not a very happy story... well it has a happy ending as champhy came to live with us... but... she sighs and shakes her head... averus is a lot older than i am... though he's still quite young for a water horse.... but i grew up faster than he did... so right now we're just about the same age developmentally...
champhy's family wasn't well off by kelpie standards... they were actually down right poor... and their pool was drying up... one day her da just up and disappeared.. leaving champhy and her ma alone and he ma was not doing so good... as a result, no one had drowned in that pools for generations... and anyone who saw them thought they were normal horses... with a bit of algae growing in their hides as they lived by such a slimey puddle.... champhy took to shifting into human form and going into the nearby town to find food... and got caught... by an elderly cook who had retired from service to her ladyship... well for some reason they kind of hit it off... and rather than punish champhy for stealing, she began to teach her how to cook instead...

well she does have a heart of gold, ye know... even iffin she pretends to keep it under lock and key....
anyway... when the old lady died, she left champhy with a bit of gold... not much... but it was more than she had ever had in her life... she took it home to show her ma and guess who was there....

actually it was her da... though it might as well had been skull dancer... as he had sold champhy to him for a share of a pool in the next county over... champhy was devastated... she was doing pretty good fer herself... true the pool was a pit, but she was actually kind of happy with the old lady and had found one or two other humans she liked, even if the rest of them made her want to puke...

a knock on the door sends shia into a fury of action... she piles her pillows on top of kero, scrubs at her face to make sure it is clean... then she opens it to greet her mother and uncle.....
ma, uncle jor... what brings ye here? she asks leading them out to the main room by the arm...... she offers them something to drink and asks if they want anything to eat with it...

For starters, I was talking to her...last I checked, that wasn't illegal, given that she is my apprentice...and she wished to discuss things concerning her training...

then the door bursts open... yes, mother... in my bed... but not as ye think... not even i would bed a child... what kind of monster do ye think i am... declares shia angrily storming into the room....
lyssan looks at one and then the other... then sits down hard on the floor... laughing sourly at her assumptions... i'm sorry kerobian... forgive me, old friend...

then lyssan remembers why she is there... (just why is she here anyway? lol) I wanted to find out if shia took cuttings from one of me new peppermint plants... and to warn her... as they are still in the experimental stage... a few breed true then if they cross pollinate they go wild... and start firing pepper spray all over the place... poor averus... i fear he'll never graze peacefully in the garden again... he was so traumatized... it got him square in the face...
