Make it operate via a pull cord that's attached to your middle finger and make the length necessary to activate the dagger be equal of that from tip of middle finger to dagger when your palm is folded all the way back towards your wrist such that its perpendicular to your forearm.

Try to punch one of Deitric's lightning bolts and you'll likely wind up in a coma.
Electrical surge aside, I believe lightning bolts usually have some concussive force when they strike. Hence why they knock over trees. Even a heavily diluted one would kick like a mule.

Ben has no real long range techs and when he got close...it was too late for him to turn it around. It was raining. Plus, lightning in the air. It was like being a kid in a candy store, for Deitric. It gives him both the means and the resources to attack. Deitric doesn't have any long range abilities, but I can sure improvise the hell out of it in the right situation.

I'm thinking something to do with his teeth. Or you could go for a dagger reined in by a thin metal bar made of a metal which expands quickly under the right temperatures. Then just have said metal exposed to flesh, burn it when you wanna use it and stop when you don't so that it can cool and retract. Or...have one reigned in by a small snake which you grow or shrink when needed.

Normally it wasn't something I would come to myself. I did see it in your fight against X but decided not to use it, would feel somewhat guilty if I did. Would feel kinda like plagiarism. Plus the stage effects specifically said reduction in electric attack length and thus it wouldn't cover the space needed anyway.
