Maybe.. maybe a Big O-style reinforcement mechanism for punches on the gauntlets, ala 1:04+ on this video.

How ironic- I already dealt with your lightning bolt theory in Round II, Darth.

Also, Big Daddy drill-fists would be rape with a s**t on their face bonus, but hidden push-blade mechanism would be cool too. Problem is working that out in a way it could be utilized mid-punch easily without making it extendable by accident.
Maybe.. when he tightens that region into a fist, it'd extend the blade- but he's so prone to making fists at people, it'd hardly be concealed.
