Sanzoskitsune I think that's why they had the voice over guy, he tried to add a little of that to the movie
And it worked. 3nodding I found the way they did the scenes with Magrathea to be great. It really helped me picture some of the stuff I'd had trouble wrapping my head around in the book.
I'm not a very visual person, I have a hard time visualizing things. ._.

Sanzoskitsune I'm impressed by people who can join any form of military establishment... I'd drop out the first day sweatdrop Lol, yeah. That's how I used to think too. I can't do a whole lot of push-ups and I'm expected to do 30-50 of those in a minute.
I'm working on getting myself up cardiac-ly because I really suck at breathing while running, so, it'll help.
'nywho, I'm going to get going. I have to go shopping for a prom dress with my mother today and my aunt's coming along. I gather I'll be out for most of the day.
Bye~ heart

@aretoo I was thinking they just don't try and make the movie at all... Honestly I'm not asking for them to make it JUST like the book and I know not ALL fans are gonna be happy but sometimes... I'm wondering if they even LOOKED at the book oh and... *eats the cookies*
@Tae I'm kind of visual... sometimes... sort of...

Yeah, sometimes it's like...they take the blurb on the back of the book and make the movie based on that.
Queen of the Damned, for example. Even Interview with the Vampire, they made changes that served no purpose except to make things cheesy. : s

Stephen Fry's awesome... I particularly enjoyed him in Cold Comfort Farm (if you haven't seen it, RENT IT NOW!) and Peter's Friends (which, if I remember correctly, he also wrote). smile

@Tae yeah that's exactly my point like... the LOTR series and the Harry Potter series totally loving how they did it/are doing it. They're making a few changes but changes you can understand. I mean they've made a couple of changes I didn't like but I can swallow it and deal. Others.... they just made a movie with the book title really
@aretoo O_O so THAT'S how you fix brain mush

They had to seriously pare down the content for the LOTR and Harry Potter movies. Otherwise the movies would have been like 5 hours long. @_@

I'd sit through five hours of a movie.... but then I'm a geek like that
oh and I thought of an example (not perfect cause I liked the movie) Howl's Moving Castle, Hayao Miyazaki made some HUGE changes in the story. Changes that almost made it have nothing to do with the book...
@Roland what happened?

I know the hard-core fans would be okay with a 5-hour movie, and that's all fine and dandy for viewing movies at home, but being stuck in a theatre for 5 hours...? Especially for younger audiences, since that's who Harry Potter is aimed at. (I don't mean tiny children, but teens and preteens, for the most part.)
It's just too long.
Ro: As do I. : D
