Some just a little more than others.

Iden's arm drifted down, until his elbow was resting on the counter behind his back. His smirk had returned, as cocksure and implacable as before.

More loyal than you look from here. 'Least I come back when I'm needed.

It was a shot Iden couldn't resist. And he couldn't stop himself from keeping that little sly gleam of "******** you" from crossing his eye.

*Azrael let the remark go, he didnt want to interrupt his line of questioning*

So tell me then, let's say we're in battle, as undoubtedly soon we will be, Roan is in danger, or absent. You gonna ignore a direct order from your lieutenant?

*It was a rhetorical question, he didn't doubt his brothers loyalty one bit. He smirked again*

So tell me, soldier, are you the kind of man who chooses where and when to follow orders? Because it looks that way from here...

((Ooooh, low blow. At least Az never pretended to be dead XP. That said, Iden has saved her more than once, in his own way. I decalre that shot... a draw! xd ))

Tell you? What's to tell? We're in a battle, and Roan is in danger or absent, then I've already failed and am likely not engaged anyways, be it from injury, death, or the like.

Rhetorical questions just begged for answers. Iden couldn't resist offering his, if only because he could.

I don't choose when to follow orders. I choose who's orders to follow. And right now, you're doing a piss poor job of putting your name on the list. The DI routine is better suited to the other grunts. I'm not impressed.

Iden's gaze was as yet unwavering, his azure gaze absolutely glacial. If Az thought himself to be gaining any dominance over his little brother, it seemed Iden was setting himself to resist the effort for the long haul.

*Azrael could hardly stop himself from grinning, his questions were only getting the kinds of answers he would have expected*

Excellent brother, excellent. You're even more like me than I thought!

*A small black butterfly flew in through the window, landing on Azraels outstretched finger. The Hell butterfly, delivering him a message from Soul Society. He stood up and made his way towards the door. Turning his head over his shoulder briefly*

I have business to attend to, however I'll give you this advice for free brother. I've walked that path and it won't get you anywhere. You can have all the pride you want but know this, there are plenty of people in this realm and others, who are more powerful than you are, hell, I'm one of them. And there will come times that you will lose, accept it.

You'll get respect from me so long as you earn it, and you earn it by doing your duty. Seems to me right now you're doing a piss poor job.

*Azraels expression turned deadly serious*

You can choose not to follow my orders if you like, but if in doing so you hurt this family, I'll kill you myself.

*he then grinned, immediatly changing his demenour*

So let's not let it come to that, ok?

*looking back towards the door Azrael disappeared into shadow, leaving his youngest brother alone in the tavern, hopefully confused as well as agitated*

Iden smirked. Someone saying he was similar in disposition to themself? THAT made Iden chuckle. It was an honest expression, and he found it highly entertaining to have such a concept slapped around.

Alright. In return, I'll fill you in on a little detail. I live my life. Not you. And I damn well won't be letting someone else tell me how to live it. I stick around and do what I can for Roan because I choose to, not because of some trumped up notion of duty, command, or any orders given by anyone, from you, to God Almighty Himself.

Iden leaned forward, his grin darker. More predatory. He was wholly unafraid when Az made the threat. If anything...he almost seemed to be welcoming it.

You kill me, you'll be hurting the family more than any negligence on my part ever has. Consider that while you enjoy your power trip. And if you still feel up to it...then bring it on, mate. I've missed having a good scrap.

Azrael was gone by the time Iden had finished. It didn't matter...saying it helped. He was getting a picture of his brother's disposition, and he could only question.

Why the ******** were people equating me to this a*****e?

There were obvious answers, yes, but Iden wasn't buying it. Regardless, the encounter left him feeling quite pleased, if only that he hadn't let himself be walked all over. So, in celebration, he finished his drink.

Headphones wailing, chains chiming as they flailed about his right thigh and paisley printed DC sneakers squeeking every few steps, Fenrir walked into the tavern, having grown bored with the obscenities in the city areas. Besides, if Roan ever DID try to contact him for some of the help he had offered, then he preffered to be a touch closer to their estate. He of course, had no idea the clan had just started an assassination sweep on the Syn.

Little did he know the history surrounding this tavern with respect to the clan in question, he however was quite baffled, and perhaps, dissapointed to find the establishment completely empty.

Standing there just enough paces inside to allow the doors to swing shut behind him, the Gael would sigh as he pulled the right cup from his ear and called out.

"Anybody here?.... YO!..."

After waiting a few moments the Blazeheart would shrug, and let the right cup of his headset snap back over his ear and with a little skip on the spot garnished with a smirk, approached the counter only to vault up and land on the opposite side, sitting with his legs dangling over the staff side, hands idly going to pull up with prestine white socks as he looked over the selection. As if he didn't already know what he wanted.

So with his socks up and straightened to show only a sliver of tattooed flesh between them and the hem of his shorts Fenrir slid down to his feet and went about sorting himself out with a bottle of whiskey, and a four pack of Guinness along with a pint glass and shot glass.

Before long Fenrir was once more sat up on the counter cross legged, shoulders parallel with the two sides of it as he threw back the first shot and gave a raspy sigh in satisfaction, proceeding the hiss of an open can. Swords crossed on the counter infront of him as he looked down its length at the wall next to the doors, Fenrir would induldge in a few gulps of his stout, before pouring himself another shot though this time, he raised it to nothing, cocking a brow as he glanced up at the cieling.

"To me, the better looking one. Canno' argue with me over that fact any more, HA!"

I can argue it. You're cute, but he was austere.

*Roan loitered in the doorway, not caring if Fenrir didnt hear her, if his music was still on.
She looked haggard. BEYOND haggard. She looked like she was goign to collapse at any minute and possibly start the kind of crying that once you started would never stop.
There was a tremble in her limbs as she crossed to the bar and did something she NEVER did.

Downed half a bottle of whiskey in one, then sat sipping dark rum, neat, from the bottle as she sank into a seat, exhausted. A single bloody tear escaped her eye as she slid her swords off her back, sadly caressing Ansuz as she lay the massive blade across her knees, tail coiled around it, as if she was trying to HUG the damn thing*

With the likes of 36 crazyfists screaming in his ears, he of course didn't hear Roan, nor did he see her, having closed his eyes after the last shot. Thus it wasn't till Roan was sat, and Fenrir reached for the whiskey bottle once more, finding it had moved. Thus opening an eye he only then encountered the woman sat off to his side, and with a hardly manly, more juvenile shout, butt-hopped sideways away from the ivory maned female, arms flailing wildly as he fell off the opposite side of the counter.

"OwwwwwWWWW!"

First the right hand slammed on the counter, followed by the rest of him as he pulled himself up off the floor, his other hand occupied with his own now rather tender right a** cheek.

"Who the bloody hell.... I oughta bottle you upside the head fer tha-Oh christ your the owner aren't you."

Insincere rage, followed almost immediately with shock and concern of the same flavour was stressed all in the span of about two seconds flat. Fenrir, after all, hadn't seen Roan since her new look came into play, thus, expecting him to recognise her right off the bat was abit much.

Not the owner.

*She sighed softly and sought a cigarette, exhaling with the slow calm care of one who was about to explode at any fast movement*

Its Roan, Fenrir. Who else would get away with lugging this sort of weaponry arond?

.....you dont have Narok's grace either.
PostPosted: Wed May 13, 2009 1:13 am

Cocking a brow the Gael would take a moment to look Roan over, only then noticing both the obscenely elaborate swords, Ansuz in particular.

"I... I'm just not going to ask, you lot just canno' look normal, can ye."

And so Fenrir would come to sit once more on the counter with crossed legs, and take up his pint of Guinness.

"And hey, Lucas wasn't ALWAYS That rough and serious. In fact, he was once in MY spitting image, not the other way around. As far as grace goes, well... Ok fair enough i'm just lucky aye?"

Pouring himself another shot, he would knock that back before going on to say...

"To be perfectly honest with you I was horrified to see him the way he was, before Corbin brought me back. He somehow, became an old man. I dont know how long you knew him, nor how long ago this change happened in him, but... Lucas did once look, and act just as I stiil do"

...he wasnt old. IM old. And if he acted like you, numbnuts.. well, lets just be thankful he grew up, aye?

*She gave a wan smile to take any sting out of her words, as did not mean them harshly, then ran her fingers around the rim of the bottle of rum, until a single dark drop hung from her nail, which then dropped onto the blade of Ansuz, smiling faintly, before brushing away another tear that escaped her eye without permission. It was becoming a more regular act recently*

Mid gulp from his pint, Fenrir paused, eyes narrowing in a sideways glare at Roan after her comment.

"Pardon?..."

Up ending the stout he sighs and shrugs the quip off.

"Eh well, the last thing I need is to attract women like you so I suppose its for the best."

Chuckling he sets the glass down, poking his tongue out at Roan as he goes about pouring another shot. Lifting the glass up, he pauses once more, glancing down at Ansuz.

"Funny, we all favour bigger blades. Corbin's however is a monstrousity.... Heh. He spoke to you, didn't he. Or did he appear?"

Fenrir then threw the shot back, sighing in satisfaction before pouring another, continueing.

"Thats why you have it i'm sure. We the Blazehearts have always been summoners. Hell, under the greatest adversity, when the odds are stacked against me too high to percieve, I can summon Lucas. You fought him, didn't you? Sacrificing the martyr. Thats when he appears, to aid me in what could be my last moments, before joining him. Atleast, thats what i've discovered."

Throwing back this new shot, and repeating the sigh, but now adding a vigouress shake of the head, Fenrir levelled his deep cerulean eyes on the Cainite, that genuine, warm boyish smile showing through as always.

"Apparently, he has given himself to you, just as Lucas did, me..... You'll never be alone, with him at your back like that."

I was never alone before. He is my son, and Lord to my Lady.

*She smiled gently, and the sadness was suddenly surpassed by a smile of such genuine warmth and tenderness, you could believe she had once been young, human and innocent*

I wasnt in my greatest need, not to start with, but he wanted me to know just how close he was. He wont appear so easily again... not when we both desire to be close again so badly.

*She stroked her hand down Ansuz, finding solace in the warmth of the blade*

He gave himself to me many years ago, and I to him. Would that I could aid him now, but chance will forever be denied. It hurts. Sometimes, too much to bear. Sometimes though... sometimes, its ok. Sometimes, he's just close enough I forget the pain and Im anchored in ways most people could never dream of.

*She leant across and lightly kissed the top of Fenrir's head*

And thank you for being that close for Narok. I may have spent most of my time thumping the guy, but I respect him, and thus, through him... you. Thank you for your offer of aid, and the work I KNOW you've been doing since. I am sorry I didnt accept it with better grace sooner. You must know the depth of my loss, and how... unmanagable... it can be.
