Redtuskk Oryn Has anyone else noticed that Fire Warriors are pretty...well, unimpressive? It's taken me a long time to realize it, but Fire Warriors need to be either in Devilfish with rifles, or minimum size. Either you take a lot of them, or they're a waste of points. Hey they get the job done, but adding some pathfinders to mark and using about 3-6 carbines per squad really brings out the hidden potential. Pathfinders. Bleah. Thing is, that you either have to build a list around Fire Warriors, i.e. taking 4-6 squads of them, mounting them, taking Pathfinders and other Markerlight platforms, or they really don't work that well. It's easier to me to make my Fire Warriors into two 6-man teams with a Markerlight for my other units. Furthermore, I prefer having more Rifles to having Carbines. Rifles extra shot at 12" is just better. Pinning is unreliable, even with Markerlights. Too many squads are Fearless or Ld 10. Furthermore, Fire Warrior squads with all rifles put out 24 shots at 12". Pinning is nice and all, but the best debuff is death.

I have two six man squads and use them for short range cover for my crisis battle suits which really get the job done.

I only field one unit of fire warriors, usually 12 and sit them in an alley of some sort on the field. I find it works well and people either don't find them worth bothering with or they become bait you can work with. I don't ever give them any additional equipment and just take Kroot as my other troop choice.

However, I absolutely hate putting their models together. Lacking Kroot, I'll stick with my minimum sized Markerlight teams.

kroot are well worth the investment, they are very good all around units that can but out a lot of shots and attacks.

i don't like kroot to much they are to slow in combat sorry they just are i like them and all but to slow for me to have any comfort in haveing a squad i like a combination of dudes with and without carbines just because it will slow them down so my develfish/hammerheads/parranas can do even more shooting but i have some sad averages in rolling so it doesn't matter some times.

Saying, "just got fed up," is kinda putting it mildly when a guy posts an image of an Oxford English Dictionary as a response to someone. Anywho, lets get back on topic shall we.

Daemon_King Saying, "just got fed up," is kinda putting it mildly when a guy posts an image of an Oxford English Dictionary as a response to someone. Anywho, lets get back on topic shall we. It's actually not the first time he's done that. Is it odd that I view this as somewhat routine? Anyway, on topic. How many of you have/have access to Imperial Armor 3? I got it, and while there are some really interesting units in there, by and large, most of them aren't particularly useful. Shas'o R'myr is probably the best Tau Special Character of the lot, Tau Sentry Turrents would be interesting to use when Fortifications are available, and I'd take the Barracuda if flyers weren't so unbalancing. What are your thoughts?

Most of us still need to get that volume first. I am personally not so sure of really getting it, being a Guard player myself. Sure it has two new Guard lists, but are they really that diverse and new from what's shown in the codex?
As for the flyers, to me they are nothing but pretty models that have little real tabletop use as of now.
