"Where'd you get that thing? A pet store?" Alexander laughed, his Pokemon mimicking as if they did this to every trainer who came by. Mike was unphased, he would certainly make him eat those words.
"Are you going to be immature and toss out rude comments or are you going to battle like a real warrior?" He said coldly, one eyebrow raised. The gym trainer merely huffed, ordering his first attack.
"Stomp Exploud!"
"Quick Attack, dodge it Felsic!"
Exploud leaped into the air, bringing his foot down to where the Quilava was a second ago, making a slight hole in the ground. Felsic climbed on top, ready to strike with a Crush Claw. Thinking fast, the Exploud pointed his face down and bellowed a cry so powerful it launched the two up in air. Felsic managed to catch himself in the air, rolling in a ball and landing without a scratch. He got up with a smug look on his face, almost as if he was expecting applause.
"Don't get cocky Felsic, that Exploud is not a Pokemon to shake a stick at." He knew more than most that overconfidence messed him up in the past, and he didn't want his Pokemon having the same problem.
Alexander tapped his foot, a rather bored look on his face. "Now that we've all learned our lesson from Professer Lavaridge over here, we can commence the fight." As if on command, the Exploud came up and slammed his body into the unaware Quilava, sliding it across the boring wooden floor. The normal Pokemon beat his chest and let out a cry, enjoying the fight. Felsic got up, a little battered but overall fine. He rolled up into his usual tire position, covering himself in flames and propelling himself into the Exploud. The Pokemon tried to brace itself, but realized it wasn't the force of the impact that hurt. Felsic smashed into the Exploud, spinning rapidly. The combination of the massive friction and the flames caused considerable amounts of damage before the Loud Noise Pokemon batted him away, burns all over his torso.

"Not bad," Alexander said wincing at his Pokemon's burn. "I'll get you fixed up after you win ok?" Exploud nodded, not ready to give up yet. "Good, Hyper Beam attack!"
"Uh oh."
"Uh oh."
"Wablo!"
The normal Pokemon planted his feet and took a deep breath, particles of energy getting inhaled into his mouth. The beam blasted forth, shooting the Pokemon back as the attack rocketed for Felsic. "Crapcrapcrap!" He shreiked, rolling to the side, a mere glancing blow landing on him.
Mike wiped the sweat off his brow. "That was too close!" Felsic winked, playing it off like he knew what he was doing. The trainer merely rolled his eyes. "Alright buddy, while he's recharging, Somkescreen, cover the entire arena in a haze!" The Quilava began expelling mass amount of a thick black smoke from his pores and mouth.
The recharging Pokemon, had only enough energy to watch as a wave of noxious haze filled the arena, the Quilava dissapearing in the smoke after taunting with a wag of his butt.

Kilik ran a hand through his hair, and then sniffed his clothes. "Whew!" he called out loudly. The boy stood up and removed his shirt and jacket. I'm guessing from all the water they've been through, the stench really started to sink in... He took his still damp garments to his room and dropped them in the bin. Kilik closed the door behind him and walked over to the closet. He opened it to find clothes upon clothes. Did Mom shop for me while I was away? This is more clothes than my sister has! He sighed and pulled out a red jacket with metal rings on the sleeves. He then pulled out a purple shirt and a pair of blue jeans. Kilik removed his black pants and threw them into the wash bin as well. There was a light 'slosh' noise when they hit the rim. He slipped on his jeans, then his shirt and then finally the jacket. "There we go," he said, looking over his shoulder as if to look at his back. As he headed out of the room, he noticed the book resting on his bed. He approached it and picked it up.
"The Science of Pokemon Excavating? Dad wants me to be an excavater?" he asked aloud. He put the book on the shelf, along with other Pokemon science books and left back to the living room.

"No! Flareon! Come back!" Kilik heard his little sister cry. The boy looked from the staircase to see his Flareon dash across to the other corner of the room, breathing heavily. There was a bow tied to the tuft of hair on his head and three bows tied to his tail. He gave his trainer a look that seemed to say 'Help me!'. However, the boy did nothing but laugh as he approached Flareon.
"Listen. Let her do what she wants. Unless you'd rather her play with Scyther?" Flareon put a paw on its chin and thought for a moment. It imagined Janie playing with Kilik's Scyther for a few moments before the Bug Pokemon turned and sliced the girl in two. Flareon gave a sheepish 'laugh' and nodded happily. Kilik tapped lightly on Flareon's head with his fist. "I know what you were thinking. I'm not letting Scyther kill my little sister." The Fire-type groaned and went back over to Janie, who was clapping happily.
"Dinner's almost ready, kids!" the mother called out from the kitchen. The smell of noodles, pork and vegetables was sent through the house. The boy drooled slightly.
"It's been a long time since I've had a home cooked meal. How about it, Flareon?" Kilik asked, patting his stomach. The Pokemon was trying to get away, but was being pinned down by Janie. It let out a small cry.

The enemy Exploud stood up, energy recharged. He looked for his trainer, but couldn't find him in the fog.
"Exploud, use your voice, clear the smoke away!"
The Pokemon let out a series of large cries and bellows, blowing small sections of the smoke away in little rings. He kept at it, distracted enough for Felsic to sneak up behind him with ease, his little feet made next to no noise. He took the oppurtunity to land a critical hit with Crush Claw, smashing him in the back of the head. The now shaken Pokemon brought his foot down, but Felsic easily dodged the cumbersome Pokemon. "Face it pal, I'm just too fast!"
Exploud had hear enough, he took a deep breath, inhaling all the smoke in the room and expelling it upwards from the pipes in his head. A smart tactic, but he let Felsic out of his sight, who easily came from behind with another Flame Wheel. The attack did enough damage to faint the brute of a Pokemon, granting Felsic his first victory.
"Whoo!." Mike said with a sharp look at Alexander. He recalled his Pokemon and walked past the now silent trainer. Without looking back, he gave Alexander a kick to the back of his leg, causing him to fall back on his face. Now with a mile wide grin on his face, Mike continued on to the next room.

Kilik's mother placed a bowl of stirfry onto the table in front of him. IT was filled to the brim with noodles. "Smells great, mom," he smiled.
"I hope you like it, honey," she said, looking at Janie, "Come get your dinner and leave Flareon alone..." Flareon looked at the mother figure with sparkles in his eyes, jumping up and clinging to her chest. He rubbed his cheek against her chin happily. She laughed, pulling the bows out of his hair and tail. The Fire Pokemon jumped back to the ground and shook its body, allowing its fur to fluff back out.
"Mommy, can I be a trainer when I grow up?" Janie asked, getting a smaller bowl of noodles. Kilik looked at her with a clump of food lodged between his chopsticks.
"No," he said simply, "It's dangerous to be a trainer right now. I don't want my sister getting hurt."

Mike decided to take a moments break, it wasn't everyday you could watch a mildly brain damaged Ampharos dance around with his tongue hanging out spewing nonsense and airplane noises. A small group of trainers walked by, eyeing the Pokemon curiously.
"What's wrong with him?" A girl asked.
"I don't know, what is wrong with him?" Mike said defensively, narrowing his eyes. "He's fine just the way he is." His tone was stern and forceful, causing the trainers to blush at their ignorance and walk away.
The loopy Pokemon hopped around, making it over to Mike. He stared at his trainer and then the group of people that just left. He placed his flipper on his chin and looked back and forth between trainers, trying to make a connection. He stood there pondering for what seemed like an hour, but finally got it. He shook his paw at the trainers in a chastising manner. "Nononono." He said in a singing tone, although it came out as: "Rorororororo." Mike gave his nutcase Pokemon a big hug and a kiss on the forehead, Beacon in turn started gnawing on the side of Mike's face.
"That works too." He said with a laugh, rubbing the top of his Pokemon's smooth rubbery head.

Standing back and letting her friend have his moment in the spotlight, Flannery merely watched the battles, keeping silent, her lips pursed. I don't understand it, she thought, as she watched Felsic finish off the Exploud with a fierce Flame Wheel, and scratched her chin. The other day he was acting as though it was his first Pokemon battle ever, and now, here he is, acting like a true champ. The fiery red-head smiled slightly at the loopy Ampharos, clinging to the side of Mike's face. She didn't even notice when her Torkoal relased himself, nudging her shin with its head. She bent down, and picked him up, without even really thinking. The cheeky fire Pokemon made happy noises, letting loose a small mushroom-shaped cloud of white smoke, which dissipated after several seconds.

"Thanks," Keegan murmured, his voice barely a whisper. He savoured those few moments while she was in his arms, and gathered up their belongings as Kasiya roused Hiro from his quick nap. "Good thinking," he nodded. "I wouldn't want Mr. Briney to worry. He's such a kind man," he chuckled, thinking about the gentleman and his now two Wingull. "I wonder what he'll call the other one? That is, if he keeps it...." he mused to himself, walking over to Kasiya and Hiro.

"Hmm?" Kasiya looked up at Keegan. "Who will keep what?" She took a step back as Hiro got to his feet, and stretched. She wasn't sure, but she could swear she heard some bones cracking as the massive Arcanine loosened himself up, shaking out all four paws before leaning down, ready to take passengers again. Kasiya climbed up on his back, without any help. She was glad to see that she would soon be able to walk off her injury.

As usual, Mike was anxious to get the fighting started. He picked himself up and started off for the final trainer before the Gym Match. Before he could get one foot down he felt Beacon tugging at his pantleg, holding up his hand. It took Mike a moment to figure out what he wanted, but he soon was leading his Pokemon to the door holding hands.
He's such a bizarre Pokemon. One moment he's independant and aloof, and now he seems to need me more than anythi-. Before he could even finish his thought, the loopy Ampharos was off spinning in circles.
"I won't question." Mike said as he opened the door to the next trainer. Inside was a young girl, a decent figure and light blonde hair in a large ponytail. She wore the gyms standard plain unrevealing clothes, much to Mike's dismay. He snapped his fingers descreetly and walked to the end of the arena.

"Mr. Briney's Wingull, Peeko, found herself a boyfriend," Keegan chuckled. "I was curious to see if he'd keep him or not." The boy smiled, ready to catch her if she fell, before climbing up as well. "Thanks again, Hiro," Keegan said appreciatively, securing his arms around Kasiya before they were off again. This time, though, it felt more than right.

"Aww, that's so sweet," Kasiya giggled, hanging on as Hiro rose from the ground, and started to move forward, in more of a gentle trot than an actual run. Kasiya yawned, and leaned back into Keegan, closing her eyes and sighing happily. Between him and Hiro, she felt very safe and comfortable. She felt Hiro break into a run, and the smell of the sea entered her nose. "You'll have to direct him," Kasiya said sleepily. "I nor Hiro know the way to go."

The girl gave Mike a few odd looks before realizing what it was about and blushing. "You pig!" She shrieked, crossing her arms to cover herself. This only caused Mike to snicker to himself at how cute she was.
"Calm down, I was just saying to myself how pretty you were, I meant nothing by it." He said in a calm voice, holding his hands up not wanting to be misunderstood. Her face only turned redder as she lowered her arms and placed them behind her back twisting her foot around embarassed. "You really think s-wait. You're here for a Pokemon match! You can sweet talk me later!" With that all the color on her face vanished and she resumed her stern demeaner, lobbing a Pokeball onto the arena. A cute little Togetic popped out, chirping and wobbling as Togetics do.
"Rain check." Mike said as he reached for his beloved flame decalled Pokeball, releasing Nitro. The Charizard looked down at the small normal type Pokemon and smiled, he knew this was going to be fun.
"Ok Nitro, let's start this out good, Sunny Day!" Mike adjusted his hat, never enjoying the bright light shining in his eyes. The Charizard began to glow as the sunlight outside became noticibly stronger.
"Ready set?" He said to the girl, who merely waved her hand.

"Just keep heading along this path," Keegan said, pointing ahead. "You can't miss it, it's the small cottage, with a dock." He rested his chin on the top of her head, breathing in the salty air, and sighing as well. "We'll be on our way to Dewford in no time." He smiled, watching the sights roll by. "See, it's right there," he said, as the cottage came into view. Mr. Briney was nowhere in sight, but he suspected the elderly man was busy making preparations.
