Another nervous laugh escaped the boy when Surge suggested sleep. N-no, I can't sleep. If I sleep Milo might take over! I have to be completely awake, alert and attentive so he can't sneak up on me. "Haha, no, no I'm fine!" the boy waved his hand like Surge just offered him some strange foreign food. "I'd just really like to battle you is all. I've been putting it off and putting it off and I just ran into a ton of time to myself with no friends at all so I figured what the hey!" His voice was high and somewhat squeaky, like a nervous boy trying to talk his way out of a confrontation with a girl he liked. "Heh...heh..." The electric lock was still off. Surge hadn't shut it off like he asked. "So, we gonna sit here and gossip or are we gonna fight?" The last sentence came out a bit more rude than he originally intended. "S-sorry I'm just a bit anxious, right now. Could we please shut the gate and begin?" Mike let out a dejected sigh. He couldn't even say a single sentence without sounding like a complete lunatic. The boy silently prayed he hadn't watched the rest of the broadcast...

"I'm not really one to make plans," Riza said with a shrug, now hearing the telltale sounds of the dryer down the hall. What he said about the badge however, intrigued her. What if someday Ralts or Sneasel just decided not to listen to her? She had no idea what she'd do if they did, and in fact the thought scared her. "So badges. Do they make Pokemon obey you.....?" she asked, though it was rhetorical. Maybe it wasn't so much the actual badges as the fact that the trainer had earned them and they were a symbol of respect. Jaden had never really told her much about badges before, all he'd done was show them to her. She had to admit that they were pretty impressive and a small part of her wanted to see if she could earn a few here and there. Riza blinked and brought herself back to the present, glancing at the ever-reddening bandage on Crenu's arm. "How is your arm this morning?" she asked, standing up and going over to have a closer look. "Need the bandage changed again?"

Kilik shrugged. He didn't really know what else they could do. "We could go battle a bunch of people," he suggested. Lilycove was a big city, but when you were running out of options on what to do, it suddenly seemed very cramped. "Alternate battles, that is. I fight someone, then you do, then I do, y'know. Rack up some experience before we go to Sinnoh?" He snapped his fingers.

"Or maybe we could battle? That way, we don't have to worry about finding opponents!" He knew it was a plausible suggestion. After all, he wanted to test his skills against her. He knew Mitsu was strong, but he wasn't sure exactly how strong. This would let him know just how much more he'd need to train to overcome her, or clue her into how much training she could do. In the end, it would work out for both of them, regardless of the winner. "Once we get our Pokemon back, that is."

=*=

"Now, lassie, you can't expect a move like that to hit a lot, considerin' how much it can miss." Wattson shrugged and pulled a hand out of his pocket. Magneton floated up towards the ceiling, easily avoiding the Rollout. This battle is going to be rally difficalt for me. I can't touch that there Donphan with anything but TriAttack. Hopefully she won't realize that he's weak to Ground-type moves.

"This time, use Metal Sound, Magneton!" At the command, all the magnets that protruded from the Pokemon's body began to spin wildly. A ring, glowing dull gray floated forward and wrapped itself around the Donphan. Wattson pulled at his beard. Playing this would take time.

"It's fine, don't feel a thing." He said calmly, though it was a complete lie. At least to some degree, because the pain wasn't crippling or anything, it just sorta lingered. "The bandage should last for the day, don't worry about it." Crenu pulled back his arm, almost behind his back, as he tried to change the subject. The last thing he wanted to do was accept more help than he already had and look weak, especially around Riza. "About the badges...they sorta do make pokemon obey. But I don't think its like some magical aura they produce or anything, not really. My dad was a trainer, he had badges from all over in a case back home..." At those words Crenu paused for a moment, thinking about his home back in Ecruteak and the people he ran away from. He looked down and away as he felt an array of emotions well up inside him, but he managed to suppress then behind a lonely looking scowl. He face returned to normal as he began speaking again, though he continued to look down and away from Riza. "My dad use to tell me that when a trainers pokemon grew to strong, they stopped behaving properly. They felt like they no longer needed the trainer, like they didn't have to listen anymore and the bond between them would break, especially if the trainer wasn't the one who had originally defeated and captured the pokemon. But the badges that they earned at gyms helped to prevent that, because a gym badge represents the trainers ability to command...like a general's rank or something. I'm not really sure how it works, but the pokemon seem to be able to pick up on the badges and recognize the trainer's skill and power to lead. Heh, don't know if it's true or not, but that's the story I was told. I'm not Hitmonlee's original trainer and I've lost control of him, if I don't try soemthing quick he could become a danger to keep around. Same goes for any of my pokemon... Anyway, I overheard some trainers talking about a gym leader on an island west of here, maybe that's where I'll go for my next badge." From his pocket, Crenu pulled out the shiny silver wing shaped badge he'd won at Falkner's gym and flicked it into the air like a coin before catching it. "Got any badges?"

"A battle eh?" Mitsu said. Kilik was strong, she knew that and far stronger than she was. She didn't really want to lose again, but there wasn't much else to do, espeically if she wanted to avoid those annoying boyfriend and girlfriend comments. Why did people minconstrue that? Couldn't a guy and a girl just be friends? "A battle sounds fine," Mitsu said.

As if on cue a pink and white Blissey came to the two holding a tray. Mitsu picked up her Pokeball. "Let's do this thing," she said marching out the PokeCenter's sliding glass doors, her Pokedex in hand. "Three on three!" she said facing the boy, a small smirk appearing on her face despite the obvious disadvantage that she was at. "It's time to play!" she smiled releasing the Pokeball. However it appeared empty as if she'd sent nothing out onto the field at all. "Your pick Kilik," she said with a slight smile. She'd have to be clever and tricky to win this match and she knew it.

Kilik took up Cable's ball and put the ball onto his belt. "Gotcha!" he walked outside, a little slower than she did, and stood a few feet away. This was the same position that he and Mike were in just a few days ago. When he watched the ball open, his eyes widened and his body tensed. Then nothing appeared. What the...? he growled. Did she just have an empty Pokeball laying around? Did she think this was a joke? No, that couldn't be it, cause he saw the white light for a second. Something had come out, but the question was what. None of her Pokemon can turn invisible! No Pokemon can, unless... He closed his eyes and thought back to his battle with Morty. His Gengar had done just the same thing. That's right! he thought, opening his eyes, She has a Gengar! I remember Cable playing with him!

"I'll choose..." he ran his fingers over the spheres on his belt, having difficulty deciding on what to use. What Pokemon could he use that would provide a form of an advantage. Furthermore, what did it know? If I choose Weezing, I run the risk of it knowing something deadly. I've yet to meet a Gengar that didn't know Psychic. He gulped. I wish I had used those TMs on him first... "I'll play it safe! C'mon out, Aggron!"

The behemoth burst out of the ball, almost as if he had been bound inside something too tightly. When he crashed on the street, the pavement cracked beneath him. Aggron was ready to fight. After being bested twice after evolution, he wasn't going to let it happen again. His eyes darted around, looking for his foe.

"Ladies first," Kilik said.

"Fine my a**," Riza mumbled, though she decided not to push Crenu any further on the subject. She hoped that if he needed her to help him with it, he wouldn't hesitate to ask though she figured his pride would probably get in the way. 'Just like a guy,' she thought shaking her head and trying to listen carefully as he went into an explanation of the badges. They seemed like they weren't an overly complex thing, yet at the same time they were. Just something about having the badge that made Pokemon obey? It was terribly mysterious to Riza, and this made her want to get one of her own even more so than before, even though initially she'd only wanted to be a Coordinator and nothing else. But now that she thought about it there really was no rule that said she couldn't do Contests and gym battles.

The small shiny thing Crenu took from his pocket caught Riza's attention and she pushed herself up off the bed in order to get a better look. "No, I don't have any," she said, shrugging. "Yet, that is. Maybe I'll try for a badge too," she added. Win or lose, it would definitely be quite an experience. "I've seen a few matches back home in the Blackthorne Gym, and those were always quite amazing, though I imagine it's far more intense to actually participate in a gym battle."

Mitsu smiled watching the ground where her beloved Ebony had disappeared to. "I hope you won't regret that decision," she replied taking the first move with no objection. "Heh, heh. Ebony. Why don't you play with your new friend. Give `em a good hand shake!" Mitsu said with a small smile. The purple Gengar always made battling so fun, especially with these odd antics that he developed after thier match with Norman. Nor did she really have to say the attacks outright. It gave the battle field a bi of unpredictability making the match more fun and giving her a small advantage over her opponents.

"Keh, keh, keh," the Gengar hissed onto the field. It would have sounded rather menancing, but it only made his trainer giggle slightly. Ebony appearing from underneath the earth behind the Aggron, his hand glowing white with a Brick Break, fully intent on giving his new playmate a "handshake" as his trainer had put it.

Kilik raised an eyebrow again. Brick...Break? he thought. Sure, the move itself was insanely powerful against his Aggron, but he was sure Mitsu didn't consider the power behind it. Gengar's Attacking strength isn't all that great...and Aggron has astronomical Defenses. I should be in the clear. The boy's lip twitched. The thought of smirking crossed his mind, but he decided against it. He didn't feel like being cocky today. He didn't want to put the wrong impression on the girl.

"Aggron, use your Metal Claw!" he commanded. He made a mental note to increase his movepool after this match. The beast, though powerful, just did not have a very wide array of moves for him to pick from. The Pokemon grunted, feeling the Brick Break collide with his stomach. Man, it stung a bit, but it certainly didn't hurt as bad as that Larvitar's. Aggron stomped the ground, raising his claw up into the air. Gray light began to shimmer down his hand and he brought it right down towards the Gengar's head. It was easily his strongest move at the time - at least, the strongest that Kilik could use. He needed to figure out the causes of that crazy headbutt he kept using before...

M.A. shrugged, undaunted by the Gym Leader's comment; Tora's recklessness always rubbed off on her on the battle front. If the attack could miss, then it hell as sure could hit! It would just have to take some time... Tora would just have to endure somehow. Besides ramming into things, she was good at enduring, too. Stubborn, both her and Daemyn.

"Go Tora!" "Go M.A.!" two voices cried from the sidelines, and M.A. whipped her head around to see Saebum and his fiance, Rein, just seating themselves on the spectator bench. "God, if you were going to take on your first Gym, you should have given us a heads' up... We were thinking you got kidnapped, the way the door was busted up," came her disgruntled brother's voice. He was losing years off his life, just by being around his sister in two days.

M.A. grinned in response and immediately returned her attention to where it ought to be. She was just in time to see a screechy ring close in on her Donphan, one that hurt her ears and undoubtedly Tora's -- her hearing was very sensitive, after all. In fact, the terrible sound made her swing off track and into a wall. Instead of stopping, however, her built-up momentum sent her cascading upwards -- why, look, she was going Dumbo on all of us!

Ulani did not envy the Magneton who was about to face three-hundred pounds of elephant on its head. Then again, it was harder than she was.

From the side-lines: "M.A., that last attack makes Tora really susceptible to Special Attacks. You oughta make a move quick and start using some Ground-type moves! They're effective here."

"I don't think she got any."

"Of course she does. She's a Ground-type," came Rein's voice this time. "Try Magnitude, or something."

Tora, by this time had pulled out of her Roll Out, looking a bit dizzy but still determined as hell. "Magnitude?" M.A. called out, uncertain.

The elephant looked at her like she was speaking Greek. See? M.A. thought, directing a raised brow at her noisy spectators. Shaddap and let us do it, I'm old enough to handle myself! her unusually razor-sharp glare clearly stated, and Sae sighed, leaning back. It was time to let his baby sister do her own thing. Wait, why was Diego holding their mom's Vicodin?

... M.A., you never cease to amaze, Saebum snorted to himself, giving up entirely.

Ebony sunk back into the earth after having a face full of Metal Claw. His new playmate wasn't very nice!

"Augh," Mitsu muttered a bit annoyed. She really should focus on her training a bit more. And she was tired of all these resistances. "Fine. Ebony. Let's go with Confuse Ray!" Mitsu had seen Kilik's Aggron in action before, the beast was powerful, not doubt about that. Might as well try having the behemoth smash his own face in right?

This time Ebony appeared out to his left side shooting a red beam, aiming for Aggron's face. A subtle hissing laughter could be heard from the Pokemon. Ebony moved his arm up and down as if he were holding a flashlight, the red beam moving as if it were a whip. Oooh, the red light was so pretty, just like his eyes he thought. Maybe his newfriend would like to play cops and robbers with him. Of course, he was the cop, he had the flashlight after all.

Skidding away from the attack Luffy adopted a battle stance once more. He watched the Meowth wince at the damage he had done, grinning slightly Luffy used his time to use his new technique, Gear Second! Ok so it wasn't actually Gear Second, it was actually Agility but that didn't change the fact that he thought of it as Gear Second. Glowing slightly he felt as if he was one with the lightening. Feeling so full of energy Luffy started to bounce slightly ready to keep going.

Across from him Fluffy picked itself up and glared at the bouncing Aipom across from her. Oh that little monkey was so going to pay for hurting her! "Ok Fluffy lets get that stupid little monkey back for hitting you! Use your Faint Attack." The man grinned and so did Fluffy. The small cat like pokemon moved forward and seemed to disappear in mid air. Luffy not being the smartest thing ever just gaped at the area where the cat had been. Not that dodging would have made much of a difference with this kind of move, it might have prepared him for the sudden claws in his back.

"Man you really named it Fluffy."

"Shut up man!" The other shot back as Fluffy appeared in front of him again.

Luffy meanwhile was dealing with the scratches on his back and it was not pleasant. Gritting his teeth Luffy decided it was time for that kitty to feel the power of his Brick Break. Using his new speed Luffy zipped across the top of the train and using his new momentum he brought a glowing tail hard. It was oddly satisfying to smash the annoying cats face. His attack done Luffy danced back to where he had started on his side of the train top.

"Aww man that Aipom totally destroyed your Meowth with that move."

"Hey man shut up!" The other shouted as he watched somewhat worriedly as the Meowth tried to pick itself up. After a moment the pokemon did and it glared over at Luffy who just grinned back at her. "See Fluffy is tough, he is still in this battle!"

"Yeah whatever you say man. It isn't like we have time to rob the train anymore."

Alice nodded, "no problem, I'm going to find the ladies room." She would do anything to avoid the weird glances she was getting from that kid. "Uhhh..." she said as she looked at Ronny who was staring back at her ".....stay here" Getting up she looked at the kid who was still sitting and staring at her. So creepy... She scurried to the bathroom.

Coming out shortly after, Alice felt something bump into her.

"Hey! Watch it b***h!" The kid that was staring at her had followed her. He stepped back and attempted to make some sort of gang sign. His large necklace, "bling", was so large it almost hung to the floor. He only met up to Alice's waist and was completely pale white with golden blond hair.

"Excuse me!?" Alice shouted in shock, she bent her knees to get more level with the kid.

"You heard me hoe! Watch were yo as is walkin'!" The kid flailed his arms about to make gang signs.

Alice laughed, "You are kidding me right?"

"No I'm not hoe! I'm the biggest pimp in the joint so ya betta treat me with respect yo!"

"....You are like... 10"

"I'm 11 b***h! I'll woop your a**!" The kid grabbed his pokeball, "Lets do this! Go Ganstalicious!" The kid threw his pokeball, what popped out was a tiny Wurmple popped out. With additional bling.

Alice sat there in surprise, before she could gain composure and call her pokemon, Kadaj jumped in front of the Wurmple and yipped. Damn, my first battle... how pathetic!

"Gangsta! use tackle!"
The pokemon wriggled over and threw itself on Kadaj.

"Uh.... uhhhhh.... tackle Kadaj!"
After the pokemon got off of Kadaj he returned the favor.

"b***h! Use poison sting!"
The pokemon shot out and stung Kadaj. Kadaj yelped and kicked the Wurmple off.

"Tackle!"
Kadaj obeyed and leaped onto the pokemon. The kid bit his lip and yelled out "Again! poison sting!" The Wurmple lunged at Kadaj to attack again.

"Da- uhhhhh oh! Wish!"
Kadaj was illuminated in a colorfull light, then nothing. The Wurmple then jabbed him again.

"b***h! what was that! Stupid hoe! Gangsta! Tackle!"
The Wurmple began to lunge but over took it and missed Kadaj.

"Tackle!" Alice shouted in excitement.
Kadaj turned ant tackled the Wurmple. He was suddenly enveloped in a light again that healed him.

"What!? No! Gangsta! Tackle!" His Wurmple slumped over. "Noooooooo!"

Alice's face lit up, "Oh! I won!" Alice cheered as Kadaj leaped into her arms. The kid kicked the ground in disgust, "How could I lose!?"

Alice gave him a pat on the head, "Don't be a sore loser, have fun now!"

"Blackthorne, that's usually the last badge trainers go for in Johto, must have been some extraordinary battles." He thought about the powerful dragon types that Clair battled with and grinned at the thought of matching wits in battle with her. But not yet, he wasn't nearly strong enough to take on her yet. "You'll probably hear it a hundred times over, but gym battles aren't the same as regular battles. But it's not just the skill that you have to fight, it's also the mindset with which you get extra pressure from. Losing a battle is never fun, but when you step into that battle field and know full well that winning will earn you a badge just makes a trainer that much more nervous. When I went up against Falkner, even I started to waver towards the end of the match. And when I went up against Whitney, I ended up losing my cool and the match as well..." Crenu took a good look at the badge before placing it back in his pocket, that was only one of many that he intended to collect. He was gonna get 'em all, he was going to soundly defeat each and every one of those Pokemon League assigned gym leaders and make his place in the world as the best there ever was. But then again, there was always these contests he'd been thinking about. "I suppose I can help you get your first badge...maybe you can teach me a little more about contests in return."

Sasha nearly smothered the poor Azurill to death when she grabbed it into a forceful embrace. It swung its tail around frantically, the girl's bag still stuck on the round ball attached to the end of it. "You're so cute!" Sasha squealed, rubbing her face on the cute little creature. It let out a frightened squeak, which only served to send the girl further into a frenzy. Nearby passengers on the train silently scooted a few inches away from the dramatic girl, the older women especially shaking their heads.

After a bit more snuggling and a deep breath or two, Sasha calmed down. She didn't want to scare the thing to death when it was only just born. But that was easier said than done, granted by just how cute it was. A similar process happened with Lightbulb and Kitsune when she first found them. Sasha had to spend a few minutes freaking out before she actually got in the proper mind to capture them. Which brought her to part two of the equation. "I need to think of a nickname for you..." she remarked to no one in particular, racking her brain for ideas. "You still kinda look like an egg." she said with a giggle, the Azurill cocking its head to the side in confusion. The girl bit her bottom lip, fighting every urge to pick it up and squeeze it again. Still not used to walking yet, the Azurill face-planted on the train seat, rolling over in disappointment at its failure. "Hm..." murmured a very pensive Sasha, noting the little Pokemon's mannerisms carefully. Still looks like an egg...rolled over....I GOT IT! "I'll call you Omelette!" Sasha picked up the Azurill and gave it a (much softer) hug, the Pokemon letting out a happy squeak. It was settled.
