Shade sighs and shakes his head slowly. "That's okay, Hope. I think now we know how you ended up where we found you." He turns back to Frensa. "The offer still stands."

Hope hung her head, wishing very badly to help him out more but she couldn't remember, it was just beyond her reach. She looked to the side a bit, noticing some of the other people trying to help the injured. Hope stood up straight again, lifting one of her hands to look at is as she remembered healing the wounded from the battle she was in, wondering if she could do something helpful for a change. She quickly trotted over, kneeling beside someone and carefully resting her hands on him. Her eyes shut as she concentrated, a pair of large white angel wings streatching from her back as her hands glowed a faint white color. Soon enough the man was healed, and she opened her eyes again to look at her hands as her wings folded against her back lightly. A line soon formed as she one by one healed the wounded until finally the last was done, leaving her sweating and panting: the process of healing someone took a lot of energy out of her, and she was exaughsted by now. Lightly she laid down, curling up a bit as she shut her eyes to try and get some rest while her wings streatched out a little.

Shade stands back and watches Hope heal the injured. "Well don't I feel useless." He walks away towards the collapsed tunnel and settles in to watch for any of the hoard to have survived.

Hearing a faint echo of his voice, Hope's eyes fluttered open. Shade.. she thought, realizing that he must be beyond exaughsted by now. She managed to push herself off the ground, her wings drooping and dragging along the ground a bit as she walked over to him in a way that would seem like she was drunk or had just been spun around in circles many times in a row. Lightly she plopped down beside him, wishing more than anything to be able to help him somehow. "May I sit with you..?" she asked quietly before lightly falling backward onto her back, now laying beside him with her eyes shut as she tried not to fall asleep. Her white wings were spread across the floor, standing out against the dark ground.

He looks over at Hope and smiles sadly. "Of course. I could use some distraction from my thoughts."

Hope turned her head to look at him, noticing the pain on his face. "Sh..Shade, w-why are you so sad...?" she asked quietly, reaching her slender hand out towards him but she was just short of touching him. Hope let her hand rest on the ground again, noticing that it was hard to keep it held up for very long.

He smiles sadly. "There's no real reason. It's just that, this is the second time I have failed those I meant to protect, and once again it was against the same person." He sighs, and his smile vanishes. "I had thought that after all this time I would have gotten better at protecting those who depend on me. It's just dissapointing to find out that I can barely protect myself."

Hope quickly sat up beside him, soon regretting it as his image spun for several moments. A few of her feathers floated about from the sudden movement as she spoke. "I-it wasn't your fault, y-you were already exaughsted! A-and.." she scrambled for anything that could possibly help. "L-look at all the people who made it because of you, a-and look!" she held out her arms. "I-I depend on you and I-I'm fine!" Hope's mind was struggling to try and find some source of real comfort to him, leaving her to sit there beside him with her weak attempts at cheering him up.

Shade smiles again."Thank you, Hope. I know things could have been a lot worse if I wasn't there, but that is true of almost anybody who was. It just seems worse to me, because so many of them look to me for help and when they needed it most, I wasn't able to give it to them."

Hope slowly lowered her arms, looking down at the ground a little. "B-but.." she said quietly, pausing a moment to think before once again speaking softly to him. "Y-you helped me w-when I needed it most.." her wings were drooping again, laying partially on the ground.

Shade chuckles softly." I did? Well then, I guess i'm not a total falure. Still, I will have a lot of work to do in order to repair the damage done by Twilight. Some day, she will pay for what she has done."

Hope heard him chuckle and lifted her head to look at him, wondering if someday she could help him to see how wonderful he really was. "Hmm.." she looked back forward and down a bit, looking at her hands quietly for several moments as she thought about how useless she had been to him so far. "I-I'm sorry Shade, I haven't been able to help at all.." she said quietly before smiling weakly with a pitiful laugh to match. "I-it's strange how you see yourself as a failure w-when all I've done is cling to you.." she said with her soft voice, letting herself lean back until she feel over again with one of her arms over her face.
(I don't know..maybe something ate them.)

Shade looks at Hope and smiles. "No, Hope. You have been of immeasurable help to me, and to everyone else here. Had you not been here, It would have taken weeks for them to heal. Besides, It's always nice to have someone to talk to."

Hope thought about how exaughsted she felt now and wondered if it would take her weeks to get better..at the moment it sure felt like it. She lightly raised one of her hands, making some sort of gesture before letting it rest on her stomach. "I-I can't be that great to talk to, a-all I do is get nervous and s-stutter.." she made a bit of a face while her eyebrows pulled together from slight frustration.
