"That's terrible," Faust said between gritted teeth. "After we helped him, to double cross us like this! Hang in there, liebchen," he said quietly, putting his hand on Netsubo's brow. "OK, you're closest to next-of-kin. Do we treat this like a fever and anemia, or do we induce a coma? I need a decision quickly!"
"No coma," Ren said shortly.
"You aren't next of kin," Faust pointed out. "If she was in a coma, we wouldn't have to worry about possessions, for one thing..."
"No. Coma." Ren said again.

*lataru*"i'm sorry Ren..I know that you're worried, but it would be best for her to be in a coma...She could be very deadly if she was possesed...it's possible that that's what Hao is trying to do..."*she gave Ren a sympathetic look*"I'm so truly sorry, but just imagine how she would feel if she got out of hao control and found out if she harmed anyone that she cares about..or worse...she would probably end up killing herself out of her pain..."

All it took was the word 'killing' to snap Shizuka out of that hair-poking thing. She rushed to Nesubo's side and tried to shake her awake.She wasn't going to let anyone die.

Faust moved quickly, trying to refill the syringe with amazingly steady hands. "l don't know!" Faust answered frantically, the tremor that was not in his hands in his voice. "Just stay back... I'm going to try..."

Faust ducked as Ren abruptly swung his spear, narrowly escaping getting decapitated. "Yes, she's breathing!" he cried, scooching himself and Shizuka farther away from Ren.
"I don't care WHAT Yoh says," snarled Ren, "But I don't trust you, Faust. You've done very well so far, and you've accomplished your ulterior goal."
"Enlighten me," Faust invited dryly, "since you seem to know more about my motives than I do."
"You've integrated yourself firmly within a network of his close friends, and all you'd have to do to dispose of one of them would be to wait for an occurence of this sort. Then, you can make a death appear to be an accident!"

"I can't believe you're letting him do this!" Ren cried angrily. "Even if she's not dead yet, she might soon be! What did he put in that syringe, anyway? What assurance do we have that he didn't just kill her?"
"I'd never hurt Netsubo," Faust said, with great conviction. "And if that isn't enough for you, look at my situation: I'm surrounded by younger and stronger shamans than myself. What chance would I stand, Ren, if I were to intentionally hurt any of you?"
Ren fumbled inarticulately. "Well.... you could have... maybe you...."
"Just watch her," Faust instructed wearily.
