Here's just a theoretical question: is a power/doom hybrid even musically possible?

well the sword are doom with considerable influence from heavy... so i'm guessing it'd be possible to take influence from power, too, though i'm not sure how exactly one would accomplish that

Maybe if you switched between the two styles by changing tempos and such in the middle of songs, like System of a Down, and had a singer that could sing both power vocals and doom vocals...

i can do that.... and switch to-

It actually said on there that at one point near the beginning of their career, they disbanded because "no appropriate singer could be found". Soooo... They know they have a problem there. lol

I wanted to answer, but I guess I'll have to leave that out to those more knowledgeable. Grave? Where is Grave when I need him. He's always doing that...

Yeah... as much as metal singers seem to be disregarded (and people love bashing the power metal singers) a good one can be hard to find.

bahaha i had a good debate on how despised icon and mudvyane don't count as metal-- i took the kid forever to get that nu metal isn't included with metal and that if the band isn't on encyclopedia metallum then they aren't metal... ugh....

tBDM = melodic death/deathcore. I would give them the benefit of the doubt and say they fall more on the melodeath side, but our guild leader doesn't seem to agree with me.

Arch Enemy = melodic death.
