Well, today in wood shop...(I am the only girl in the class) my teacher was playing music while we worked on our projects.

Me: *getting an arm cramp as she belt sands her chess board*

*bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum*

Me: Bum bum? *turns off belt sander to hear Sarah Brightman singing POTO* Squeek! *dances in place, belt sander in hand* Luckily, none of the guy's noticed me...except for stupid man with many a tattoo, who I think caught me singing with the belt sander on.

Music of the Night and Think of Me played after that, sang to them too, and my day got ten times better, though my board looks like s**t.

My friend called me on the phone and apparently someone had left a sheet of music from Phantom on the piano in the bandroom so while she was talking to me she said "So the phantom of the opera was there..."
And I busted up laughing.
The sad part was that she didn't get it, even after I explained it. >.>

Uta needs to get out of the bookstore. She really does.

Well, I found a new manga (shutup I read it, I like pretty pictures) and found this new one called Gorgeous Carat. The front cover has a dark-haired man in a tux and tall hat and then a shorter blonde man in a more fanciful tux. I see this and somehow I'm thinking Erik and male blonde Christine.

Oh hush all of you. I like my shounen-ai as much as the next hormone-rid girl.

Anyway, the setting is, guess, 19th century Paris and the dark-haired man is (pause for a giggle) the "Phantom Thief Noir". Minor referance, sue me. But it screamed at me and so I smuggled it (okay, I bought it) and took it home. Noir really kinda acts like Erik in some ways.

He's possessive of Florian (blonde guy--more than likely the uke) and arrogent and very flashy in stuffz. Oh! And he has an Arabian friend (girl) named Laila. Female Persian/Nadir! biggrin *luffles Laila*

And it's really nice so far, but it hints here and there (or maybe it's my Phan mind at work, who knows) towards PotO that just made me buy it.

And the fact it was shounen-ai.

I'm not so sure if this is a refrence but here goes...

I was on TokyoPop Manga's website, and there was a manga called, A Midnight Opera... HHMM.

Anywho, the main character's name is Leroux... HMMM. xD Obviosly inspired fan.

You know... I would read it just because it's just a bit Poto influenced. Even if the storyline is different rofl

There's also a manga called Phantasy Degree =3

It has nothing to do with PotO, but when I first saw it I was "phantasy?!!"

Ther have been several episodes of "The Simpsons" that have parodyed or referenced our favourite depressed character. This also includes "Phantom of the Opry".

Christine Daae also inspired Evey from "V for Vendetta", while the Phantom inspired V. The structure of the book has several direct parallels with Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera: the Shadow Gallery doubles for the Phantom's Lair, and Evey's abduction and re-education mirrors that of Christine Daae's.

......I have a life, I swear!!

It's ok, I loved the Phantom reference/feel of V both when I read the trade way back and when I saw the film. Very heavily influenced.

I just recently learned of two cool things:

1. A series of trades called "The Trapdoor Maker" - a comic that follows young Erik's exploits after he is found by the Daroga and brought to the Shah(sp?)

2. A Batman Elseworld book that is set in a Phantom style with Bat's in a Raoul like role and Two-face as the Phantom. Must find it now!!!

Okay, I was reading this book called Understanding Music. I came across this page which was all about operas. It talked about different kinds of operas and it mentioned musicals. And you know what? For an example of a musical, they picked none other than Phantom!
I was all like "NeeH! NeeH! NEEEEEEEH!!!!!!!"

Meh. Whatever. It just amuses me that what came into the writer's mind when he/she had to think of a musical was POTO.

Well just try posting things where they ought to be. That and you don't know if it was pre-selected for them or if they chose it because it's a successful musical.
