And then the bullets started flying. There was a short blast and a thud as they rammed into Björn's flesh. The man simply stood there, barely moving as he was pelted with a hail of shrapnel.
And then one guard fell.
And another.
They were beginning to catch on, now.
One fired at the trees.
He went down.
Two left.
They went down within moments of each other.
Björn gave a sudden choking sound and spit a gob of blood to the grass. He leaned against a tree and slid to the ground.
"Ow."

Crow and Ethan stared with jaws dropped, exchanging looks. "Hey, Björn, you okay?" seemed to be a very, very asinine thing to say, though they both itched to ask. Ethan twisted free of Crow's grip and ran over, then skidded and looked to Julian with a pleading expression.
There was no immediate response and Crow elbowed her brother sharply. He blinked, and looked down at her as though only now realizing she was there.
"Hm?"
"Hai! Björn hura tsi onok!"
"Alright, jeez. Sorry for not paying attention."
He left Crow to seethe, and walked over beside Ethan, his gaze picking over the guards as he went.

Björn looked down at himself and the seeping wounds. Sometimes being unconditionally immortal really sucked. There was a sudden ripple of muscle and three bullets, previously lodged in Björn's arm, rolled bloodied to the ********>," he whispered and inhaled deeply. They generally hurt worse coming out then going in.
"Jesus, Björn..."

Watching with detached interest, Julian turned back to his sister with a kind of 'well, there it is' kind of look. She discreetly flipped him off, scratching her eye. How was she supposed to know he could heal like that?
Ethan, wringing his hands and watching on in intense worry, ignored everyone else, even as Julian went off to inspect the bodies and Lenore trailed after him.

Thankfully, Vavvian guards were forced to have good aim. Because of this, the bullets were rather closely grouped. The manipulation of three more muscular groups and an investigative roll of the shoulders later, Björn was freed of bullets. Liam was already quick at hand, holding out a small phial of healing liquid, which the man gladly downed. The wounds healed with a sick crackling and, voila!
"JULIAN. LOOK OUT."
One of the guards had a trembling hand raised, pistol cocked and ready. His other hand was up at his gushing neck, which Liam had apparently hit rather than hid head.
Björn stood on weak knees and watched on in vague interest.

Julian was deaf to his sister's startled shriek, Lenore's cursing. He looked down, expression unchanging, and stomped down on the man's chest. He could hear a crackle of bones, strange little staccato pops. He didn't care if he got shot. It would heal, or it wouldn't. He swooped down on top of the man, fingers seeking purchase on his gills. He could suffocate the man, he'd learned the trick of it now.
Wait. What if...
Julian's lips quirked into an eerie small smile as he latched onto the man's gills, pinching at them so the slick blood wouldn't make him lose his grip. And he pulled up, very hard and very fast, ripping skin.

Liam made a kind of half-groan, half-yelp and pulled back, hand over his mouth. Christ, that made his gills hurt.
Björn, however, cheered rather loudly with the hand that was not holding the trunk up on his shoulder.
The guard behind the now-dead one twitched and wheezed, having been shot in the lung and wavering very close to death. He lifted his bloodied face with a great bit of effort and looked up to the strange man nearby, terrified.

Crow went rigid, and felt bile burning up her throat. She suddenly felt very dizzy. Julian had just...he'd just...
"Nnghk..."
She staggered back, bracing herself up against a pale-faced Ethan and trying hard not to vomit.
Julian looked down at the carnage, eyes wandering. His breath came out in a small laugh as he looked down at his bloodied hands. He shook a bit of it off, bringing it close to his face and considering licking a bit off. He caught the eye of the dying guard and he laughed again, the eerie smile growing.

Liam went to Crow and patted her shoulder, unsure of what to do, exactly.
The guard's eyes went wide and he attempted to move backward, only succeeding in twitching and hurting himself.
"Please," he murmured, the word marred by blood and a rather strong accent.

Julian stepped off the dead guards chest, prowling towards the new one. His face was a mask, eyes shining feverishly.
"Please?" he echoed very quietly, voice tinged with a hysterical laugh. "Please, please, please..."
He stepped slowly on the guard's chest, grinning as he applied more and more pressure and cracked bones.
"Say it again," he said, so quiet only the guard could hear.
Crow, not hearing, only seeing, gave a sob and turned away.
"Liam, make him stop," she said, shaking badly and pressing herself against him, afraid to look at Julian again.

"Shhhh," Liam cooed, holding Crow's head against his chest. It was better a random guard than them. Let the poor kid kill something to vent anger.
The guard was not entirely sure what the man was asking. Maybe he'd be spared if he said it again. Maybe...
He attempted to draw in a breath, failed miserably due to the wrenching pain and pressure, and instead was forced to whisper.
"Please."

Crow said something, but her face was pressed so tightly against Liam's shoulder it came out muffled, just excess noise. Ethan and Len had long since turned away.
Julian nodded, that strange smile staying firmly in place. He lifted his foot, then stomped down again hard enough to make the man's chest cave in.
"Thanks," he said, grinding his shoe into the soil to clean off some of the gore and turning away.

Well, that was that.
"Good God..." Björn groaned, sounding slightly sick, "Ah...c'mon. Let's go." He tugged on Liam's arm and headed off in the direction of the less mutilated corpses.

Ethan and Lenore balked as Julian approached, shrinking away from him. Crow staggered besides Liam, and bit back a shriek as Julian touched her arm. Her eyes were wide and for a moment terrified as they met her brother's.
"No," she said, voice wavering. "You...you leave me alone. Just...don't."
Julian withdrew, looking momentarily confused, and shrugged. He put his bloodied hands in his pockets and resumed his silent march, drifting somewhat separate from the rest of the group. He left a bloody footprint behind with every alternate step.

"Crow!" Liam hissed, giving her a light tap to the arm, "He's your brother. Don't do that." Contrary to what he said, however, he continued following Björn...who had suddenly stopped by the edge of the forest.
"Alright," he said slowly, carefully, "There's a clan of psychos in here. If you don't want to die, follow my instructions carefully." He was slipping out of his uniform and nodded for Liam to do the same.
