"New form? I thought I had already changed as much as Im going to."
Thrar was starting to get worried now. If there was one thing he didn't like it was concurrent suprizes. First the blood, then the vulpine look from Raoul, now another change from himself. He wasn't sure about all the secrets his new body held, and wasn't relishing the thought of a whole new ball game being thrown at thim.

Being a Cainite is no like being human. THat is the first new form you must adjust to. You are also from a bloodline of shadow weavers. Within the next 48 hours, you will have your first experiance in the 'other' world. No non-Lasombra knows much about it, just that there is a realm of shadows the Keepers can go to and most newly fledged go there by accident in their first few days then spend years trying to do it at will. You have no reflection. You have no form on film or anything else. Shadows will play aorund you like dogs around their master. Only once you have seen this occur and become accostomed to it... can you begin to learn how to CONTROL it.
*Raoul continued speaking in his neautral matter of fact voice, those inhuman eyes locked on Thrar*
You did not answer my last direction. Do you wish to choose yoru new name yourself, or have one assigned?

"I will chose a name. I should have one in a few hours. But you have mentioned several times that I was Lasombra. Is that my clan?"
Thrar was determined not to let his change of pase interrupt his information gathering. By what Raoul said, nothing had changed, Thrar was now just aware of something new to look forward to. This shadow realm would be very interesting, possibly dangerous but interesting.

As you wish.
Yes, you are of Clan Lasombra. We name our bloodlines clans. There are 13 great clans - which merely means there are more of each than of the lesser clans - and a range of lesser clans from the infernal Baali to the self righteous True Brujah. The clans are sperated into three groups - the Sabbat, our enemies, who typically are made up of Lasombra, Tzimisce and whoever else defects from each faction to join them, the independant clans who claim allegiance to no one, not even each other, and then there's us. The Camarilla. Comprised of Brujah, Gangrel, Toreador, Ventrue, Malkavian, Nosferatu and Tremere, we are often thought of as the 'good guys' but we're as brutal as the rest. We just value world order and how much easier it is to drink if humans think we dont exist.
When you have chosen a name.. come and find me in my office. I will put the paperwork through. There is much you will still need to know. Questions you will still want answered. There is plenty of time. First I wil tell you what you need ot survive, later, what you need to sate curiosity. You are not just another shovel head. Not just another number among the Sabbat cannon fodder. You will not be trusted easily among the majority of our faction, just by dint of your bloodline... but your loyalties coudl get you far. Take your time, Thrar. I will see you presently.
*Rising like a well oiled machine, Raoul swept from the room, quietly closing the door behind him*

A few hours after nightfall Thrar emerged from his room. After giving his notebook a thourough reviewing he had decided upon an ambition he had had from his previous life. He came down the halls toward Raoul's office and listened at the door to see if he was engaged.
"Come in Thrar." came Raoul's voice through the door. Thrar opened the door.
"Ive chosen a name. I wish to be called Volundr." Thrar stated. "I've always wanted to take up traditional blacksmithing. Im pretty sure I'll have the time to take up the craft now."

Indeed you will, and it wll work well as a cover.
*Raoul was surrounded by aides, as ever*
Sir, this really is most unconventional... I agree. This is not advantageous to your position. I did not ask for your opinions or criticisms. You are acting very much like the Lady DeSeer... You are ALL dismissed.
*And just like that, the room cleared. Raoul pulled his laptop closer to him and began to type.*
They are complaining because I have decided to adopt you as my son. My original surname was Gwydd. If you do your research, you'll work out how old I am. In modern English, its 'Gael'. Sign here, Volundr Gael, and you'll be a new man by morning. I will pass on drivers liscense, passport and the like to you when they arrie. You know how to drive?

Suprise!!! Thrar may hate suprises but this one was something else. Adopted...this had to be unconventional. It couldn't be all bad either. By adopting Thrar, General Raoul seemingly had nothing to gain aside from loyalty. He was also putting his neck on the line and that's not something people in power usually did for nobody's.
"Drive? Oh, yes. I can drive, at least in the states. I'll have to get used to driving on the left side. But, thank you. I don't know what implications this may have but I won't make you regret it."
Thrar...no Volundr was seeing his benefactor in a whole new light now. He had been through some relatively hard times and now things were really looking up. For once he didn't regard the elder cainite with an ounce of suspicion or doubt. Volundr's notebook would get a pagefull when he had a moment to sit down.

Im sure you will.
*Raoul;s smile was slight, his pen never ceasing to move over paper on his left, his right hand typing incessantly*
By adopting you, it covers your tracks and ensures that if you DO get an invite to defect back to the Sabbat... we will be able to find you easily. You will need to get used to your new name swiftly - the records will track you back to your birth, erasing your life as Thrar completely. It would be of benefit to me if you coudl tell me the highlights of your life so I dont screw your background up. I will also need your date of birth.

Volundr took a breath and scratched his head. The best place to start would be the beginning. Details weren't really necessary though. And besides, giving out information freely was a bad practice.
"Alright then. I was born on June 1, 1983. I lived in a suburb of New York. I went so school at South Hampton High School for my entire grade school life. After I graduated I went to community college and majored in business and accounting. I also went to a local karate dojo and attained black belt. After graduating I got a place on my own and my dad employed me at the store while I was looking for a job. That touches on all the main bits. Pretty quiet, huh?"

Volundr was born June 1st in Drammen, Norway, to an American Military family, living on a base out there This is why you speak english, not Norwegian. You learnt to shoot and drive while on the base, showing an interest in the local community through the blacksmithing competitions they held each year. That is where you learnt the fundamentals of doing so. During this time, you lost your mother to cancer. You learned karate on the base and would have joined the military 18 except that your fathers placement was over and he wished you to attend college in the US for a few years before doing so. You learnt to use computers and passed your basic academics within two years in New York, making friends with a mentor out of hours to help you with your studies. Through him, you came to know me and when your father was killed and you were fatally wounded in a hit and run accident, your friend brought you here and I Sired you, adopting you at the same time.
Does this work for you?
*Raoul smiled slightly as he watched Thr... Volundr The boy had a lot of potential*

"It works perfectly." He said with a grin. Getting into a new personality would help him in more ways than one. From what Volundr could tell about his new situation, the longer it took for someone to figure everything out about you, the longer your lifespan would be.
Then a thought struck him. It was something he had been mulling over for the past few days with little to no resolution. "I've been wondering, what should I do about my family's assets? I'm technically the legal owner even though I'm dead. Should I liquidate them or just leave it to rot?" Volundr asked with a thoughtful expression.

Give me all the details and it'll be acquired for you. You wont need any of your assets as yet, but I will set it in a trust fund for you for when you will. It's too dangerous for you to try and claim it all yourself, you MAY be being looked for. We dont know.
*Raoul slid a piece of paper across the desk to him*

Volundr scanned over the paper making sure to 'read the small print'. He didn't understand much of the legal language but was still cautious about everything in this new world. After verifying the contents of the page he signed in a small angular script quite different from his usual scrawl.
"Thats done then. What next I wonder" Volundr asked with a smirk. He was eager to get done with initiation and begin training. Or at least learning the finer points of not dying.

Next? Next... you get a choice. History, or hands on. Personally, I'd rathe rteach you more about exactly what sort of world you've been dragged into, but some people find it hard to think before they know how to use their new bodies properly first. The long and the short of it though is that until you've done BOTH, Im not willing to let you roam outside of this building. You are a child again, living a hand to mouth existance. You need to learn.
*Raoul filled the papers away and steepled his fingers. Looking at Volundr for a few moments, he then slowly poured himself a whiskey, lightly tasting the liquid as he settled back to wait for the boy's answer*

History or hands on...while Volundr desprately wanted to learn the extent of his powers, he was a history buff to heart. That's what had gotten him into blacksmithing in the first place. Both had to be done and however much he wanted to strech his new muscles, Raoul had expressed the importance of knowledge primarily.
"Ignorance is no excuse no matter which world you live in. What am I and what do I need to know to survive the night?" Volundr said while getting cozy. This promised to be very long and interesting.
