"You're welcome," Owle responded with a big nervous grin. She was throwing herself into her waitressing duties in an effort to escape her sister. "Yeah, we've got any kind of food you can think of here! Just say the word and I'll whip it right...FLAAAAARE!"

The last as she was grabbed and dragged away from Jack by the demoness.

"Flare, I'm trying to serve a customer! This is a restaurant, the customers are important!" she whined, most undignified. Owle could stand up to the god of death and live, but when it came to Flare, well...Owle knew she wasn't about to win any arguments.

You just enjoy tormenting me, don't you? she thought to the demoness, as Flare mentioned needing an alternate as well.

She waved to Jack. "Um, just place your order," she called to him. "I'll see if I can get her to let go for long enough to make it for you."

((Sorry, Kichiro, I was impatient. We're trying to get things organized for HoH while all of us are online. Just go with what Owle said and feel free to tear her away from me...this should be amusing.))

For a moment Kalis' eyes seemed to be green, as they had been long ago. Except a little different. More like

( $ ) ( $ )

"Uh... well..." Yeah, that's right, he had a lot of debt to pay off. And being able to live on his own monetary support would be preferable to living off free stuff from Owle and the Firebrand's owners for weeks or so at a time. And a little extra, or some developing opportunity for future monetary gain wouldn't hurt. "A-ch oh A-ch, huh?"

Not that he was thinking all this right now. He was watching the funny spectacle Owle and Flare made in this particular little struggle with a blank look.

"Yeah. I can help with that. My old gear is all smashed to peices, but I'm game."

Wiat, he didn't know the rules or anything. Was having gear really important, or would this thing require stripping down to shorts and sticking on boxing glove to just duke it out? He had no clue. He was still watching Owle and Flare, now with less startlement and more not-quite-comprehending amusement.

// Oh. Alright, thanks all. ^_^ //

Jack's lips were formed in a sort of 'O' shape as the server was suddenly ripped away from him.

"Riiiiight."

Being rather hungry, and trying to be at least somewhat happy now that he had found a place with food and some good drink, he didn't want his good mood interrupted.

One important effect should be noted when being around Jack. The combat boots that ran shin high on him had small crystals inlaid on his knife straps, and magical/ paranormal effects within 5meters of him would fizzle. It's what kept a human alive in the dangerous realms of Gaia.

"Well eh... I just want a cheeseburger or some chicken fingers. Somethin' to cure an aching stomach. I've hardly ate for a week."

Jack reached into a pouch at his side and pulled out a canteen, with the hand not gripping the bottle of JD.

"If you could fill this up, when you are done doing whatever you are doing over there, I'd be really thankful too."

"...Ahahahaha. Gawd, you're killlling me."
Giddy laughing followed by slow, slurred yelling could be heard in some distance beyond the door. Followed by a moment of silence.

Which preceded the door being bashed wildly open with a man in a fancy suit spilling into the room. Short cropped brown hair, green pinstripe suit, brown eyes, tattoo under the righty. With the mark of Deity, it was Gamma.

Blundering forward, he didn't mind closing the door as he aimed himself more-or-less for a table.

"If you want my body and you think I'm sexy come on sugar let me know."

Came another voice, it was deep and a little off key for the song; but had good rythm.

"If you really need me just reach out and touch me come on honey tell me so."

The other voice bellonged to Gammu, he wore a blue pinstripe suit and had cold steel grey eyes and similar markings on his face to Gamma's. His hair was black and cropped short, damn near ball except for the layer of fuzz.

Of course he had slammed into the door at that point, half way in the door his drunken face felt the wood and he stumbled the rest of the way in. Shaking his head he followed after Gamma.

"Quiet down, stop making such a fuss. What will the customers think seeing you like this?"

Owle already knew what the response to her thought would be. It was a feeling not unlike that expressed by ^___^

"Excellent," Flare responded to Kalis. "Owle tells me you're a competent fighter, so I'll take her word for it. Now then..."

She glanced up at the door as a man entered, then paid him no further mind. Instead she turned to Athan.

"What about you? Interested at all?" A small, somewhat friendly smirk split open Flare's face. "I saw you take down the god of death, I'd be happy to have you by my side."

It had been seen through Owle's eyes, but Flare had seen it nonetheless.

Stop making a fuss?! You dragged me over here and you're trying to rope me into some tournament! Am I supposed to not make a fuss?

Owle said none of this out loud though, and instead started trying to slip out of Flare's grip.

"Certainly!" Owle replied to Jack. "Just, give me..."

After a remarkable amount of straining, Owle concentrated for a moment, and then...

...nothing.

The woman frowned. That wasn't supposed to happen. She was supposed to turn into a cat, so why...

And then she noticed that her magic was hiding itself inside of her, like it always did when it was around one of those anti-magic fields. And it had only started doing so when Jack came in.

"Hey, are you doing that?" Owle asked, giving no indication to Jack of what 'that' was. "Do you think you could move back a little?" The bar was big enough that she hoped his field would end once he took a few steps away from her. After all, she hadn't felt the effects before he entered the bar, it was a reasonable assumption.

Luckily for the Gams and Owle, because her magic was being suppressed she wasn't able to sense their mind sigs, and she had never seen their faces. Likewise, when they had seen her she had been hovering in the air, apparently doing nothing to attack anyone. To her they were nothing more than two drunk customers.

Jack stared at his bottle of JD, then to the canteen, trying to figure out what he did wrong. With a shrug of his shoulders, he did as he was told.

"Eh... What I do?"

There was an obvious look of confusion on Jack's face, even if his eyes were hidden by those really slick looking shades. He noticed the two drunks entering and blinked, then to the other patrons.

All the while, he manuevered back through tables and chairs. Jack didn't want to start trouble with someone who was offering him some food and drink on credit.

Jack Handy was famished.

Damien stands ups up and gingerly settles what he has been working on on top of the table. He walks over to Owle donning his coat. "If you are busy I can help you. I have been a bartender at various places over the years and I'm a good cook. It may allow you to have this conversation," he offers. He then straightens and puts his hand on his sides and awaits her answer.

Stumbling for the table, Gamma leaned heavily on one side while he aimed his a** for a nearby chair. Tipping the salt and pepper shakes and whatever else was on the table over.

When, finally, Gamma wasn't at risk of falling on his a** he stretched his arms all the way to the opposite edge of the table and stretched, lowering his head and yawning heavily.

Finally snapping back upright in the chair and looking over at Gammu.
"Sit down before you fall down, you drunk."
PostPosted: Wed Nov 29, 2006 8:21 pm

"Not as drunk as you. You look like you're still about to fall."

Gammu was swaying on his feet, looking as though he were going to face plant at any moment. Training though, pounded into him kept him stable for the most part so it was just a quick shuffling of feet that kept him up right.

Collasping into a seat it rocked and tilted to the side before it landed back square on the ground.

"Any games this time. Or just drinks?"

She gave Damien a little smile from her captivity. "Eh, it's okay. I can handle it. Thanks, though." She didn't know quite how drunk or sober he was, and friends didn't let friends cook drunk.

Owle watched as Jack moved back, testing periodically with her senses. Finally, she felt the energy within her spring free again.

"Thank you!" she called out, and then she melted.

For a moment her body seemed to turn black and viscous, a liquid that fell downwards, slipping through Flare's grip. It piled up on the floor till it was neatly in the shape of a cat, which solidified into black fur and green eyes...then darted away from Flare, into the kitchen.

After finding a spot in the kitchen where the field wasn't affecting her, she changed back, grilled him up a cheeseburger, and prepared him chicken fingers as well. She knew what it was like not to eat much for a week, to live off only what you could catch for yourself...she could spare him some generosity.

She emerged with the food, and, as long as Flare didn't snare her again, brought it to Jack without incident.

"There you are." She held out her hand for the canteen. "If there's anything else I can get you, please, let me know."

She ignored the two drunks in suits for now.
