Nah, I was referring mostly to the jo demonstrations. You may have been doing it with the sword as well, but if you did I didn't notice. I think I was too busy being impressed with you guys rolling with weapons...I've done that on occasion, once whacking my forehead with it in the process.
It's just that with the jo, we have similar wrist locks, but instead of stepping back and rolling, we'd just let go of the weapon, step in, and strike. But I guess that's a stylistic difference.

That's definitely true! Actually usually we don't roll either, partly because we are forced to practice the jo outside and we would get grass stain all over the gi if we ukemi-ed outside. I think we did it this time purely because it was one person attacking the other consistently. Hey, I'd love to see a video of your practice.

I wish I had a video. sweatdrop Our dojo did have a DVD version of last year's black belt tests, however my dad refuses to buy it for me. If I ever do get my hands on it, I'll show it to you. I heard it's amazing...since dive rolling (well, any kind of rolling or falling) is part of our curriculum, there's one part where they have to dive over 6 foot punching bags. Also, my favorite instructor proposes to his girlfriend right after he gets his blackbelt. 3nodding Kinda sucks that you live so far away...it'd be cool if you could come down and try out a class or something. Our styles seem pretty similar, but we have different approaches to the techniques. Oh yeah, another thing I liked about your dojo is that you actually have someone who can speak proper japanese. It's kinda sad that I only know of one other asian student, and we're both chinese. gonk

Actually as an exercise at times, we roll over people that are tucked into balls, my highest record is three people, I think the highest done is 6 by my sempai. yeah I like the fact that our head sensei is Japanese too. Actually our head sensei, also the founder of our dojo, can barely speak English properly. I remember we had about 3 sensei's from Japan coming to teach class. All the way through I was just nod and smiling because they taught everything in Japanese and translation was very minimal. I just kept nodding and smiling and gesturing... sweatdrop

I got a couple more pics...most of them have a billion other people (acting really gay) in them so I won't post them unless someone's really interested. ...Wow, actually there's only one pic of me that's not a "group" shot, and with a clear view of my face (There's actually two but I look really REALLY dorky in the second so there's no way I'm posting that). =P Anyway, yeah....moi, courtesy of my friend's (Jester's) digital camera: ^ At a friend's family's sushi place with a couple people (can't see the other people =O). Oh yeah, if anyone notices and wonders why the pic is titled "chrisNme," it's because it used to have another person (chris) in it, but the file was too big so I had to cut him out. =(

I'd say post some more. If you want to, of course. Speaking of posting pics, I'll have to get a move on that. I don't have any footage of me at all, with anything related to martial arts. My instructor has videos of all of our gradings, if I'm not mistaken, but I doubt I'll be getting those. Wouldn't know how to post them even if I did. I think there are some pictures of some of the people in the club kicking around on the internet. I'll go digging, see if I can find any that include me, though I doubt I will. But we'll see. I'll post them, if I find them.
