look i did a tribute to our marching show pathways!! our colors our red and purple and those are the colors im wearing now!! i have to go and make more money now to buy more purple and red items to complete my outfit.

My reed is a dud and makes everything so sharp, that it's actually a half-step up. My D sounds like Eb and my C sounds like C#. My high Bb won't even come out. crying

My reeds are fine, i just cant keep my throat open to keep my tone perfectly steady. Truely thats my down fall...

I play oboe and flute. Last year I joined band and I played flute. Then 6 months later I started oboe. This year I marched with my flute and I'm doing oboe for concert band but next year I wanna march with my oboe. But my BD won't let me... I'll convince him yet but he told me to find 5 schools that let people march with their oboes. Can you guys help me? Please? crying
And can you PM me your answers? I might not find this topic again, or I might forget to look... xp

I play the bassoon. I have (somehow) played it during the football games, but I am allowed to play it because I am a middle schooler. When I enter high-school I will have to play xylophones or cymbals in marching band. That stinks. They know that I can play the bassoon while marching...

sweatdrop I'm sure I'm missing something, but I've never heard of a Bass Clainet or of a Bassoon being in Marching Band and actually marching. Anyone care to explain to this ignorant moron? confused

Um yes, let's see here, I played oboe for 5 years or so, all concert band. Then they say, "Ob0E? j00 kAntz P1aY ob0e 4 mARchiNG F00!" So I quit, serves them right. cool
I do miss beloved oboe dearly though. gonk
Anyways, I can offer advice for oboe players, well, anyone that has played for 5 years or less. 3nodding
By the way, a GREAT double reed company is Forrest's. They sell some great things, the actual instruments they sell are not so much. BUT, they're reeds are much better than the reeds I could get at a shop. Of course, they never beat homemade, but they are a great substitute.

As soon as I get back from Winter Break I go back to my beloved oboe. ^.^ I've been doing flute so far this year (for marching) No one could ever pay me enough to march with my oboe. I've killed both my reed and lip when trying to do so in middle school. sweatdrop

Marching the oboe would be difficult.... I would hate it..... I hurt myself anyway and I don't even march with it... (For example I jammed the reed to the back of my throut... I had a chunk of reed in my throut all day.... It sucked) W00t!!! I want to march Bass Clarinet soooooooooooo Baddly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't lke our bass clarinets last year. They were always late and they always ran into me. crying My reed was shoved down my throat sooo many times. gonk
