Satan said that Iyov was loyal only because G-d provided him with everything, and had never tested him before. G-d said that that's not true, so G-d agreed to let Satan test Iyov to prove to satan that Iyov really loves and fears G-d. So far, Iyov is taking a pretty mean beating (lost all his money, lost his sons, got inflicted with boils, etc.) and yet he still accepts it. We could learn from his example 3nodding . The satan is not an evil creation, nor is the satan a fallen angel. The satan is the angel of deterrance. His job is to test, and try to deter man from his path. The satan wanted to test Iyov. The satan wants to test us all. That is his job, after all - To test us. That is why G-d created satan, and that's what his name hints: "The Detterance". All those drawings depicting the satan as some evil creature with horns that fights with G-d always makes me laugh... Oh, and one more thing... The satan is not the king of hell. Though I do have an idea where that came from... But people who think that is true are forgetting that G-d is in control of everything, and that includes hell.

I thought there was no Hell in Judaism? Come to think of it, what is supposed to happen to you when you die? sweatdrop
(By the way, random piece of knowledge that I learned today in AP Euro! Dante Alighieri wrote the Divine Comedy, which included the Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradise. You may have heard of Dante's Inferno the most, which starts off when Dante dies and goes to Hell, where he describes all of the 7 concentric circly thingies, the demons with horns, tails, and pitchforks, and that whole Satan thing. Kind of amusing that Christianity has its basis of Hell from some random Renaissance writer's book. xd )
Anyway, amazing what you learn in AP European History! xp

lol you all wanna hear an interesting book listen to The Cruciable on adio, i was cracking up ont he last few pages of the first act. where they all freasking out. i'm like omg this so freaking funny, i burst out laughing it was soo funny.

YvetteEmilieDupont lol you all wanna hear an interesting book listen to The Cruciable on adio, i was cracking up ont he last few pages of the first act. where they all freasking out. i'm like omg this so freaking funny, i burst out laughing it was soo funny. We had to read that last year- it was a bit creepy....Why was it funny? sweatdrop It has strong subtle themes of McCarthyism and why we should not be irrationally suspicious of others; it also has a good theme about jealousy. sweatdrop
