(( o.o;.......All right. And like I said again - take your time desu. ^_^;; ))
PostPosted: Wed Feb 28, 2007 5:48 pm

Raine's red lips curved into a tense smile, watching him purify her work. Most likely surprisingly to him, the dark clone she created -didn't- disappear. As her dark energy on the floor melted away, the dark figure merely kept walking towards him, although the pace was a little quicker than before. This ...thing..that she had created was no mere puppet of simple dark energy. There was another factor in it. Something more powerful, which amplified it by a lot.

Her main ability was to control dark energy. But, she had trained with one special person..who had taught her a way of enhancing that ability into something better. That was why, the figure didn't disappear. It wasn't just dark energy. It was a mixture of something else.

The dark energy bandage Raine had placed over her left arm had now disintegrated, appearing as though she'd simply let it drop. Blood trickled down her arm, and she thought it felt a little funny. Her arm felt cold, and it bothered her. Over all, she was shivering and missing the heat that had been in the building before. She shook that thought out of her head.

The barrier around her had vanished, since it too had been touching the ground.

She was getting angry. She didn't like losing.

The dark aura around her body flaired up angrily, her eyes becoming more war-like and fierce. Her body was battered, but she would continue. She would not stop until she couldn't fight anymore, or he couldn't. Either way, she wasn't going to give up.

The aura around her suddenly errupted, two points on it elongating and shooting out of it, almost like tentacles. Their purpose? One was shooting towards his neck, in which it would wrap around him and choke him. The other, shot towards him stiffly, as though it were intending to impale him in his chest. It'd probably puncture a lung if it should hit.

Meanwhile, she clutched at her arm, feeling that something was wrong with it.

The dark figure still slowly made its way towards the man..

((Could you explain what sort of effects the thing you did to my arm will have exactly in a little more detail? o.o; Like, how it'd make her feel and what sort of symptoms?
Sorry, I'm dumb sometimes. >_>))

(( Think of having a blood clot inside your body, slowly spreading like an infection throughout your blood vessels. Using the blood as a medium to carry itself around, it acts like a virus - infecting everything around it with symptoms of numbness and a slower reaction state, as the nerve tendrils are being frozen bit by bit, not letting the brain recieve the feeling that something is wrong.

The affected motor skills will begin to show signs of an increasing lack of response, and only when it reaches into the main blood pump does the pain really begin to settle in. Imagine having your insides being poked and stabbed with increasing pace....

And anything liquid will begin to eventually freeze and expand, rupturing internal organs and blood veins, drowning your insides with blood. It's a special type of attack that takes time to manifest, like a delay strike, per se. >.>; The first few posts had no affect on your body because it has yet to really spread throughout your blood. But once it does....after four posts and beyond....

Well, I've explained the symptoms. ninja ))

There is indeed something that eminated off of the dark clone which gave Snow unease. Why is it that as all the other energy was being converted back to its normal state, this....entity, this being, is remaining there unaffected?

He must be cautious against it. However, a brief thought flashed through his mind in regards to this unknown clone. What if, by any chance, that the clone is with-holding an explosive, requiring the need to be in the immediate proximity of his own position?
It would explain somewhat why the figure is advancing in such a slow pace...and it would also explain why it wasn't affected by the purified enchantment just a few seconds ago...

Is it...?

Kneeling down as if readying a dash, Snow reached with his right hand and cupped a small amount of water, drinking the purified contents down his throat. Having spent so much energy just to eliminate the immediate darkness away, he restocked a bit of extra energy just in case, feeling more water being absorbed into his hand as he reached back down to the ground.

Freezing the surface again won't surprise Raine this time, so moving in with the slippery ground would give Raine the advantage of hindsight....
Which means that he would have to use....

He punched the ground once. Water surrounding his vicinity quickly turned into a pale - white light as the weapon - the tool which is constantly purifying the ground - channeled the holy property of light within the dexturous liquid. Rippling a bit, it was then that the water erupted right out of the ground, giving a firm splash against the sudden tentacles that veered right towards Snow's neck and chest.

Had it been normal water, nothing would've happened. But having the water purified, and then enchanted with the environmental light, it quickly eroded the tentacles initial force to a far lesser degree, allowing Snow the necessary time to dash to Raine's right, keeping a decent distance away from her clone and her body.

He gave a brief slash as he halted by then, a decent beam of light blasting out of his blade and travelling towards Raine with the intent on freezing parts of her body. Not keeping still, Snow then dashed again elsewhere, before performing the same slash again, and again, and again, knowing that close range combat against Raine would be suicidal.

Therefore, he'll attack with long range ballistics...and distract her while the 'gift' he'd given to her arm a few posts back would begin to tear through her muscles and inner organs with glee....

If she didn't realize it by now.

By now, she had noticed quite a bit of change in her arm. It seemed like it lagged. She would soon figure out what had happened, but at the moment..she had something else to worry her.

He was showing more of his power now. The beams of light he shot towards her were most likely a sign of that.

Raine's composure was odd. She was oddly unfocused it seemed, almost like she wasn't really paying much attention to him at all. In fact, her eyes almost appeared like they weren't really looking at anything..Just staring off ahead at some unknown world.

Yet, her body still fought and performed the functions normally, or rather..almost abnormally.

Beam after beam came after her, yet she merely casually took a large step out of the way of each one as though they were small flies darting towards her. It was odd, since she never once cast her eyes on the attacks. It was as if her body was just moving out of danger, but her mind didn't care about anything.

But, despite how she looked, her mind was still intact. Simply, when she got like this, it was a sign that she was very angry and not in a very good mood.

Stepping out of the way of the beams that he threw at her, assuming he wouldn't stop, she began to run towards him at a quick pace, everytime a beam of light coming towards her a dark energy shield would merely fly up to protect her, in which both would most likely disappear, since the dark and light would cancel each other out.

The clone now began to run towards his current position...Preparing for the strike.

Raine too, kept heading for his position. Although, her pace was a little faster than the clones.

As she ran, she did something odd. Her right arm suddenly extended outwards to her side as far as it could go. If he were watching closely, a sudden distinct form of dark energy could be seen condensing in her hand. Once it took full shape...it would be obvious she was holding a hilt. Then, the blade appeared. It was a sword that seemed to condense out of the shadows. The blade was midnight blue, and the hilt was silver and made for two hands. The blade was about 5' in length, and the pommel was a simple spike. The blade had intricate runes engraved in it, though it'd be impossible to tell what they meant.

If he should allow her to get within range of a few feet, she would simply pull the blade downwards and to her right side, clutching it with both hands, though finding it hard to lift her left arm for some reason. Lifting it in a diagonal position, she'd simply slash from his lower left side to his right shoulder, and it was by no means a shallow cut. It'd definitely hurt him.

This sword was also no simple sword. It had other properties mixed in. It was, in fact, her main weapon, in which she had given the name Kanashimi.

A dumb name, yes. But, she didn't care.

Her speed had been like it usually was. Really fast. He'd better react quickly.

((I'm gonna lose. D: ))

(( You're gonna lose? o.o ))

Obviously, the infection should be affecting more and more of her body, but Snow had no time to judge whether it is proceeding smoothly as planned, or being hindered by her.....odd response. Taking arms, he stomped his feet on one side of the wall he's gripping on, ice forming and keeping him in place for the time being. Lowering his hold on the sword, it aligned itself parallel to the ground, as if in a readied horizontal slash, but too far to land an effective blow on Raine's body and/or clone.

But that's not what he was planning in the first place.

Cracks began to form on the wall where he knelt on, widening more and more while he held his place, his blade now humming with a violent start. If Raine planned to deliver a final blow with speed....

Then Snow too shall deliver the final blow with speed as well.

He watched Raine run right after him, the sword ready to deliver a diagonal right slash upwards - from her perspective. Flicking a finger on his blade's metallic shaft, the ringing echoed off of his weapon...

Before he vanished, charging at Raine at his highest speed. A massive explosion of ice and debris boomed out behind his wake as his body whirled in the air, spinning around himself to increase the lethal force behind his upcoming slash.

When he got close to Raine....

The duel of fates. Raine's slash against his amplified smash...aiming to cleave a large wound right at her chest - the biggest target of all.

No matter about the clone -- he'll attack both Raine and the clone at the same time when he crosses by.

It is then that the wound on her left arm finally bursted out, frozen shards of ice forming within her blood and killing her left part of the body.

If all goes as planned.

(( <_<......
Correct - Just think of the ice expanding rapidly inside the affected regions. And tearing the muscle joints/nerves/blood vessels apart due to its solid expansion. ))
PostPosted: Sat Mar 03, 2007 5:54 pm

Well, that about did it.

Him slashing at her with her slicing at him would result in a collision with swords, though nothing more. Both were putting enough power in the slashes to negate each other's own slash. That wouldn't be much of a problem. She immediately would pull back after this.

As for him attacking the clone, it would be a real shocker to find out his sword merely went right through her clone, disrrupting the flow of dark energy momentarily, although only to have it piece back together into a solid form, which would continue at him at a running pace.

She knew by now what he had done to her arm. Stopping it wasn't so easy though. And then..it burst. Her left arm suddenly stopped moving, as well as her left leg. In fact, the left side of her body felt completely paralyzed, almost like she'd had a stroke. Although, she knew better than that. She knew what he had done.

Oddly enough, instead of crumpling to the ground, she condensed dark energy out of the left side of her body, using it to hold her body up. Also, she used the dark energy to move her arm and leg, so it would function normally. Almost.

Another thing, was that she shoved a large amount of her darkness to her left side, wrapping up the bits of ice in her and disintegrating them away, so they would no longer be inside of her.

Hopefully that would all work at least.

She glanced at him, her eyes oddly not angry at all.

"That wasn't nice.."

She simply muttered those words like he had only played a mean prank on her and nothing more.

Shrugging, she simply pointed her finger at him...just standing there, though all the while the clone grew closer to him. Muttering a simple word..she revealed her next attack..

"Byakurai."

A small white light appeared at the tip of her finger, which shot out towards him at a rapid pace. It was a small beam of lightning sent straight towards his chest in an attempt to drive a small hole through him.

The clone, nearing him at a range of about 6 feet..suddenly stopped..

It stood there, unseeing eyes appearing like they were looking his direction. The clone began to distort in several areas, like a disturbed hologram. 'Cept, this wasn't a hologram.

Suddenly, out of the clones, over a hundred dark energy spikes shot out of it in all parts, all of them aimed straight for Snow. They acted as homing devices as well, intending to follow him wherever and impale him anywhere that seemed suitable.

Oddly enough, while all this was happening, the clone began to tremble, as though a great force was in it ready to explode. It wasn't quite ready yet though.

So, in all, he had two things to worry about. One: The white lightning coming for him, and two: Hundreds of dark spikes that were locked onto him. One other thing about these spikes, was that they were made of the same properties her clone was, meaning they couldn't be purified in the same manner as he had done to the rest of her darkness.

"Tch."

As expected, he didn't feel any crushing blow in his hands when he slashed at the dark clone. There was not a single trace of a recoil nor resistance - which one should find when they slash through solid objects. But this, composing of an entity that is close to a liquid state....

He whirled about after the brief detour against Raine's blow. Narrowing his eyes once more when he saw her flex her left side normally, he got the impression that his deceptive strike didn't work out successfully.

In wonderment, Snow took on the worst case scenario and made the assumption that she could still move normally as before. Fiery white ambers of frost expelled itself out of his bracers, and the air around him began to chill once more as he began to circle again, this time in a clockwise motion to intentionally put her strongest side facing him...

It didn't occur to him that his deceptive attack worked, and as she tried to disintegrate the ice within her body, most of her muscles would've been torn asunder, rendered useless even if she eliminated the infectious property. Heavy loss of blood and a rasping breath should have occured after the exposure, but not seeing those two traits on her, Snow couldn't put his guard down and forced himself to assume that the delay strike was useless for now.

However, what mattered to him now is two things;

Raine's calm composure..
And the Clone.

Having been once a dark user before, he could see how the clone is composed of such state of property. If all he could deduct is from his previous slash, and the ineffective ability to fully attack the 'thing', he would have to say that Raine's playing a lot on the use of high level magic manipulation. But since one needs a hefty amount of stamina and energy just to perform such tricks...

If that's the cas-

His thought process stopped when he saw a brief flicker of light on her fingers. Taking an extra boost in speed, he halted his advances before seeing a brief blast of light that skid past him, narrowly piercing his body by just a feet or so in front of him. (( Using Bleach? xd ))

What the-

His legs quickly restarted the dash, this time pushing him right towards Raine with all haste. If Raine is planning a counter with all these scenarios set up, then he must take the preemptive strike before she could fully utilize her energy to the max.

Spikes shot out of the clone, and Snow had a split second of regret...mostly because of walking right into a suicidal path.
Then again, Raine wouldn't expect his opponent to be THAT suicidal, choosing the hardest path to hit her..

But.

"Ha!" he cursed, stomping the debris-filled floor once with his leg on the third dash step towards Raine. Water erupted upwards from his nearby surroundings as they suddenly cluttered the air around him - most of them entering the dark energy spikes like a spray of pellets.

"If I can't purify nor slash it apart --"

Taking examples from how his purification didn't work on the clone, and the lack of resistance felt during his slash on the clone --

"Then I'll break it from within!"

The water which littered the air blasted itself apart into frozen sheets of ice, expanding and taking up room within the spikes to disrupt the flow from within. It won't permamently destroy the flow of dark energy in the spikes --

But it'll bide himself enough time for him to deliver a roar of white ambers right at Raine's right side when he gets close...

Using his blade as the purifying catalyst to pierce through her barrier, and unleash that roaring ambers of permament cold right at her entire body.

If he can kill the head, then the body shall follow. Even if Raine's clone is unable to be purified nor neutralized by him...

He'll target Raine instead.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 04, 2007 7:27 pm

((Yep. :3 But, that's the only Demon Art she knows.))

Hrm.

He'd dodged or neutralized every attack she'd targeted him with, and he still remained at optimum function. She, on the other hand, had dwindling strength and little will left to continue this fight. Nevertheless, she would continue, because forfeiting would only come when her last breath had been drawn or she was unable to fight any longer. Although the latter seemed likely at this point.

Alchemy mixed with Elven mystic arts.. It was what she had been studying for years with an alchemist, oddly enough, by the name of Airiza Cael. Creating a way to mix Alchemy with her dark arts, as well as Elven mystics, she had devised an entirely novel way of using the energy within her body. Although, at this point, her energy was low, making it so that her style of fighting was becoming almost an enemy to her, considering the amount of energy it stole from her being.

Raine wasn't human, by any means. She was..something else. Unclassifiable, you might say. Nonetheless, she possessed the same limitations that normal humans did, for the most part. Yet, she was beyond a human as well, at least in the amount of her energy, she was far more advanced. Even with her injuries, her reactions towards them may be different, though still felt the same.

This battle wasn't finished yet.

However, Raine -did- experience blood loss, though she patched herself up for the most part with her dark arts. Needless to say though, she still was feeling the effects of what he had done, regardless of her appearance. Raine was very adept at hiding pain. If only she could be so expertise with her anger issue.

Her dark energy spikes were blown apart as his ice entered, though partially just from her choosing the let them go. There was no point in fighting his technique, since it would be a waste of energy.

Next, she had to worry about him and his blade making their way towards her. She clutched almost painfully at the hilt of her Odachi, figuring that whatever strike he aimed to land on her would be a blow that would end this match. Needless to say, nor think, she couldn't get hit again. She had taken more damage than should've been taken, and she couldn't take much more if she intended to win.

A tendril of dark energy hovered around her, seemingly extending simply from the wavering aura surrounding her pale figure. The tendril slowly descended into her left pocket, replacing the job her left arm would normally perform. Basically, she was using her dark energy as her arm. Wrapping around a small round object, the tendril yanked it out and threw it to the ground, revealing another marble she intended to use. This, however, was not black in colour. It was crimson in colour, and bore a different power than the last one.

Muttering another word, seemingly in German once more, the marble activated.

"Töten."

The red marble shattered, throwing its tiny little pieces everywhere around Raine, creating a perfect circle. All of this would be performed before he would be able to get close, since it activated quickly.

Snow was an ice user. Therefore, she must assume that fire had some form of effect on the man. As he neared her, the shards of marble ascended, rising up in less than a second and giving a rise to a fearsome flame. Not only was this a circle of fire around her, but it was a quickly expanding circle of fire around her.
Snow would realize quickly that he would be trapped in the flames as he neared, in which he would be burnt badly. He was already advancing towards her, so it would probably be harder to stop since he was running right at her. Also, even if he should stop, the fire would expand at an incredibly fast rate, catching him in it that way too.

If this fire should envelop him, it would feel like he was trapped in Hell itself. Raine, however, controlled the power enough so that it would spare his life, yet still damage him to the point of serious injury.

This was the price of advancing towards her.

As this was happening though, the clone itself had launched its own attack towards him, except it would be hardly noticeable to Snow. Dark energy had leaked off of the clone's feet, sinking into the ground beneath the ice, debris, and whatever else may be scattered about the floor. Traveling underneath the ground, her dark energy intended to rise up underneath him at about the time the fire would be exploding, in which the dark energy intended to bind his feet in place so that he would not be able to move. In fact, the dark energy would be a little faster than the fire, so he might be bound before the fire even activated.

As so, the dark acid energy, if it should bind him, would also begin to seep into his skin, almost acting like a poison.

True - Snow is an ice user, hence his name which hinted his ability with the manipulation of the water around him. Having a hidden agenda which befell upon this nomadic youth, he had crossed blades with many fighters, fought in many terrains, and lost in many battles.

He knew his weakness, and it is his inability to control the hidden thing within his blood. Unable to live beyond an age which is far too young for him...

He will die at a young age. And within that knowledge of his death, he has sparred against many in hopes of finding a cure for his inevitable death. Perhaps out of desperation, the refusal to accept his fate...

Snow has....

---

Seeing something extracted out of Raine's left pocket, Snow merely increased his speed, his white fiery ambers of frost blasting behind him in a thunderous roar. It was only when he found himself tumbling by his feet being bounded, did he halted his advance, seeing a sudden expansion of fire surrounding Raine's body, and the fatal situation --

Fire!

Though not really surprised at Raine's desperate measures, Snow wasn't a person that is unable to improvise on the spot, considering how many times he'd faced a similar situation.

The last time he fought against a fire user, he had been scorched on his chest, a nasty gash of flesh exposed in the result. He had also suffered from a severed arm, multiple stabs to his chest and eventually a torturous affair with being wounded beyond any medical conditions, forcing him to be in the infirmary for quite some weeks due to the injuries itself. Though the scars are gone, the experience was not.

And considering that Snow had intentionally chose opponents that are malleable with fire abilities...he has strengthened his weakness to eliminate his problem against his rival - Fire.

Acid began to bite into his cloth and boots, but Snow quickly forced his body to produce ice, expanding around his own heels rapidly - breaking hold of the tentacles locking him down. His bracers began to hum, and upon Raine's view - something jettisoned off of Snow's bracers, revolving rapidly in a circle around his tsuba guard - his main blade.

If Raine had noticed, Snow had left his other blade on the ground a few meters away from the ruckus -- not because it's sole mean is to purify the ground around itself.

The water around the entire Gym rippled...

And as Snow raised his blade, the humming increased to a defeaning roar, finally being to the sound of a jet engine as he slashed twice towards Raine - fiery white ambers of frost following a massive expulsion of wind at her.

Though he is unable to completely destroy the fire...

The fire around Snow suddenly extinguished itself, the lack of oxygen created by his expulsive wind causing the nearby surroundings to have temporary pockets of - turbulence.

And without air to fuel the fire, the first slash cut through the fire with swift lethality...
As the second slash - with the fiery white ambers that were composed of his abilities of ice - roared towards Raine's position, using the momentary vacuumless state as a catalyst to ram at full speed at her entire body.

And effectively freezing everything nearby to a solidified state.

Yanking his foot out of the dark binding energy, Snow grimaced as a bit of the energy managed to seep through his cloth, biting and eating deep into his flesh...
In which his body - in an effort to repel against the infection, produced ice as a means to repulse the energy out before more harm is done to him.

If all goes well, Snow would then retreat a few meters back, judging the situation to either attack, or take on a defensive role.

Even though he had expended much energy in this fight, because of the presence of water nearby - he can still go as he could re-acquire his strength somewhat...as long as the water is, again, nearby of course.

(( o.o; I dunno, it looks fine to me. >.>; ))
PostPosted: Fri Mar 09, 2007 3:48 pm

Dispersing a large amount of energy to block something like this took time and..well...energy to perform. Both of which she didn't have much. What was she to do when she was in such a weakened state? She needed energy, and she couldn't afford to waste anymore that she didn't really have.

She thought, and quickly. No more expending her own energy. She needed to get close to him. He was effectively using long range attacks on her, in which she knew that she would have no chance of winning if she remained in such a state. The only way to defeat him..was to get up close, where she could effectively destroy him with weaponry and HTH junk. Or..the sword's energy.

She threw her body to her right immediately after he shot the attack, relying on her quick reflexes to once more hurriedly toss her body out of the way of her apparent doom, which consisted of nothing more than fiery white ambers. She didn't even want to know what those could do to her. Either way, she couldn't remain in this state forever.

This is troublesome..

She shakily stood from the floor, staring at him with hardened and determined eyes.

If he wished to attack her now, she would be ready and watching.

The clone no longer attacked. It seemed worthless, overall. Except fo-..No, not yet.

The clone began to shiver and shake, trembling and melting into a large pile of dark goop as it did. The goop simply dissolved into the ground, that massive amount of dark energy simply seeming to go to a waste..

Whilst this was happening, Raine would already be on a straight path towards Snow, using her dark energy as a boost for her body, as well as crutches, since she relied on it to hold her up. It wouldn't be much longer before she would grow too weary to do so though..

For now, her speed remained pretty good considering her condition, and she advanced incredibly fast. Her Odachi was held in her right hand, clutched tightly. Upon nearing him, she'd simply perform a diagonal slash towards him, although..something seemed odd about it.

In fact, the slash would be about a foot too short to hit him. Instead, as she slashed, something flew out of the blade. It appeared to be something on the order of a shadow razor. Kinda like a shockwave firing towards him.

Whatever it was, it was traveling faster than he'd be able to see. Also, whatever it was, it wasn't from Raine directly, it was energy taken from the blade itself. The blade had an energy source of its own, however small it was. Either way, the slash intended to slash his chest open, though remaining shallow enough to prevent death.
Yet, sometimes death happens anyways..even when she tries to prevent it.

She staggered slightly as she ran, the weakness on her body growing more evident.

Even as the strength began to take its toll on his health, Snow remained secure of his own body, pushing it to endure just a bit more. Pain rippled from his leg when the acidic goo attacked his feet, and he knew that mobility by then is at least cut in half for him. Even if he can move with ease and with agile swiftness, the problem is -- can he move fast enough?

That is the problem itself.

Huge pillars of ice were left in his white amber's wake, casting an icy chillness throughout the affected regions. Ice continued to spread and devour anything nearby under its solidified state, causing everything to become nearly transparent with surprising beauty. Though it may not be beautiful to those that are caught in it...

It is nearly the perfect image of the Ninth circle of hell, where in Dante's Inferno - the Demon Lord of Satan resides in. Where countless bodies of traitors and such are frozen underneath the pillar of ice, frozen in their despair and agony.
Consisting that there is no one in the Gym, only Raine would experience the true horrors of it if she ever does get caught by his ambers of death. But nonetheless, considering that this was supposed to be a friendly spar, he had toned down the effect so that it would just make her.....very, very chilly, with ice formed on her body.

But back to the topic now.

Again, as Snow took a step sideways to strengthen his stance, he could see from the corner of his eyes that the clone of hers began to --

Wait, melt?

"...!!"

He immediately moved his body, dashing towards Raine quickly in an effort to end this match. Ignoring the occasional pain from his foot whenever he stepped down, Snow faltered a bit while he ran, his blade skidding across the ground not behind him;

But in front of him, near his left side like holding a hockey stick.

Cutting past the debris and the ground with uncomfortable ease, he dashed ever so faster to Raine herself, His body beginning to produce more of those fiery ambers on sight, solidifying everything to the touch. And as soon as he neared her --

He suddenly knelt on his knee, increasing his speed just a tad bit -

Before delivering a sweeping upward slash to transfer all of his momentum into the sword, having it clash upwards right against Raine's Odachi sword with full force.

It was the intentional use to make her lose her grip on her blade, for once her Odachi flies into the air to make her defenseless, it would signal the end to this spar of theirs.

A sudden jolt of pain shot through his shoulder and chest as a gash appeared, though more shallow then Raine would've expect. With the cloth torn off and exposing the lack of armor he wore - Snow would've been torn in half if not for the fiery ambers surrounding him, the shadow razor being buffered by the obstacles in the way.

His very own defense shield didn't go up, because it was relatively too close to the opponent to activate.

Why didn't he wear armor then? Because it would have limited his speed and mobility. He does have a method to summon the armor when need be -- but that was not the issue here, for most of the time he had depended on the shield itself. Only when the shield is thus rendered ineffective, does he use the armor...

But now caught in surprise...

Unfortunately for him, she had a better grip on her sword than what he may have thought. It didn't fly out of her hand, and a large sound rang out as their swords met, although she allowed her sword to be eased upwards with his own, in a way that her blade would be able to slide off of his own blade and be pulled down while he still maintained his momentum. Her own attack tore into him, though not in quite the manner she'd hoped for, but still..she had done damage..

However, her hands ached from the fierce grip she had kept on her sword, and beads of sweat dripped down her flushed face as she struggled to maintain her attack.

Her eyebrows were furrowed almost as far as the would go...her charcoal grey eyes were ablaze with a sudden fury. Whatever feeling or emotion she was feeling right now, it was giving her a boost of energy. Simply hitting him had given her a newfound confidence, and she intended to make the best of it.

After him hitting her sword and carrying his own upwards, she'd allow her Odachi to slide down his sword to the tip of the blade, and then off, which would ensure that she could bring her sword down while his would still be going up from the momentum.

What she intended to do next..shouldn't be very hard to do, because in all realism, he should still be driving his sword upwards as she did so.

She was aware now, from her previous attack, that his "defense thing" wouldn't activate if they were close. Therefore, she had an advantage if she could only stay close to him.

Still though, her disadvantage was her left side being practically useless.

Although..she might still be able to get around that.

Because after she slid her sword off of his, she'd immediately hold the blade horizontally, sending it shooting towards his exposed stomach immediately in one quick thrust with the side of the blade coming for him. His own sword, should..hopefully, still be lifting, since she had quickly pulled her own blade off of his, and struck before he'd be able to stop the momentum of his own sword.

If this should happen, the very sharp side of her sword would cut into him pretty deeply, probably ending the match. Then again, with those danged white ambers around him..it might not cut as deeply as she hoped. And because they were so close, he would hardly have a second to react.
Meanwhile..
The ground rumbled beneath them...
