*takes a deep breath*

thanks you guys i know what i have to and i understand the whole thing of him doing his duty to protect out country, I really do i have no problem with that i know that if had a job right now and not living with my mother things would not be as hard as they are right now.

I know that i would not be as depressed as i am right now if i was living on my own we have prepared ourselves for deployment and everything of that sort that is not big deal to me, the nog deal is the fact that my mother make my depression worse everyday by telling me that never loved me and he is never comming back for me and that if i dont do somethign about myself no other man will love me ever again.
Sometimes i wonder if she is right and then ithink about his last words "Remmeber i loved since the 7-11" (long story) and then our annivsary(sp?) is on halloween and he wont be here then when that is our favorite holiday ever.
*sighs*

But....Now i am just ranting and raving about myself is not good.

i just have one question when am i suppose to get all the paper work to get the benefits and stuff that we need?

As soon as he graduates bootcamp and is at his first duty station, he will be able to sign you all up for the benefits. He will enter you all into DEERS and then you'll be good to go. Part of AIT (Tech School) is for the military member to take care of all that type of thing. You'll also get your own military dependent ID at the first duty station as well.

If you cannot (for whatever reason) live at the same base he does during AIT, then you can go to the nearest base (of ANY military branch) to where you live and get medical attention, IDs, and etc.

Or the recruiter SHOULD help with that, or at least a good one will. Tommy's sent a soldier to drive me on base and get educated on how the benefits work.

If you guys love each other, don't let your mom's words affect your relationship. If you have depression, let your counselor/professional know about what you are going through. I know what it's like to not have them there for the special holidays and anniversaries. I know people like to tell me what I should do in my own family, and I do the smile and nod. I tune them out and let them go off on their tangent and just smile and nod like I'm listening, lol.

good grief I hate the medical system on post here. Thay are always jerking me around. It makes me nuts. I went to have some x-rays (an upper GI), which I had scheduled a week 1/2 ago, and the doctor tells me I have to have a pregnancy test frist. This was after I had changed out of my clothes and been waiting for him to show up for 20 mins. then ofcourse they could only do the pregnancy test at the lab, with a blodd draw, so I would have to sit around for two hour, with my screaming kids, one of which just got shots so they can tell my I not pregnant and then do the stinking x-ray! scream I was so annoyed. I would not have had this problem in the frist place if they hadn't canceled the appointment to have an IUD put in, and not been able to get me another appoinment for like a month. Or if they had just freaking mentioned that I needed a test before hand. Or if they had transfered my record properly so that they had the x-rays they already took. I hate it so much. Sometimes I wish I just had the money to go to a civilion doc. I just makes me batty, and they always act like I can just come back any old time and spend endless hour waiting around... HELLO I HAVE BABIES!!!! I can't wait to be done with tricare, which happens at the end of this month. Ofcourse then I probably will have to start all the testing and xray junk all over again gonk why me? I need a magic stomache healing wand!

My hubby had quite a pooty recruiter. He didn't help us (always claimed to be too busy), but yes, a good recruiter should ^_^.

A decent recruiter could have at least given you the phone number to the post welcome center or ACS or family advocacy. They would have been able to help you out.

Yeh, I didn't know that at the time. This recruiter he had was REALLY pompous and snotty. He was the "top recruiter in the state" and let everyone know it. He had a little plaque and everything. He barely even met with my hubby but maybe all of 3 times before he was off to bootcamp. And he NEVER called and asked how I was doing or if I needed anything while the hubby was gone. He never brought my hubby on base and showed him around, he didn't even offer to go to MEPS with him.

I guess since my hubby was dead set on joining regardless, this recruiter probably figured he didn't need to do all the other stuff to assure he'd join.

But I was lucky that my hubby was stationed in the next town over from our hometown during his Tech School, so it wasn't too bad for us. My family would babysit when I needed to go on base and fill out all those forms for different things and attend meetings and such.

But yeh, that recruiter was a total jerk.

The recruiter jarred had down here was amazing i totally loved him, it didnt hurt that he was cute as all hell.

He told me that i could got to fort bliss and get checked out at beaumont and theat i would have everthing with the first week of october but nothing yet.

I know that i am not going to approved for the medicaide again because jarred got an enlistment bonus and on the enlistment paper the army gave as proof stated that he got the bonus and i know they are going to use it against me

With the military's medical coverage, you won't need medicaid anymore really. When our military health care kicked in, I just didn't even bother even trying to recertify for medicaid. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Yeah Tricare Prime blows Medicaid out of the water.

I'm confused, what's going on with Ft. Bliss and Beaumont? Aren't they like 900 miles away?

Angiemademe, sorry you had such a rough time, seriously raise hell!! I mean, I haven't run into too terribly many problems hospital wise, but I think a lot of it is because we're here at BAMC and if something gets screwy, my husband will be all over it and usually can do something about it. Still, I run into those GS employees that should have been fired years ago. rolleyes

Actually they are about 45 minutes from where i live.

I know that tricare rocks but i am constantly sick and so is my daugther and until i get the medical beinfits i need something i dont even know what to do i am running low on asthma meds and i can not wait until he gets out of boot to get any other medications.

Plus this morning they told me that my medicaide was denyed to the bonus size that he got bloody hell we are not going to see it cent of that until the begining of the year more than likely

Call your mans' recruiter and ask about getting on DEERS, etc. If you don't already, you should have a POA (power of attorney) to do this. There is a way to get on benefits even when he's in Basic. Especially if you were married before he entered the service. If they tell you otherwise, they're full of s**t. Being a military spouse often requires you to get mean, raise a stink, and make a general nuisance of yourself to get things done. Yes it sucks, yes it's embarrasing, but it's worth it in the end. It also helps to know half a dozen of the regs. They're easy to look up on the net. There's a lot of leg work required on your end, and it needs to be done. You can't always sit around and wait for your hubby to do it for you.

EDIT - After talking to my husband last night, come to find out, you and your child should have been enrolled in DEERS, etc when he signed up for service. All of this should have been taken care of PRIOR to him leaving for Basic. If not, then a short conversation with his Drill Sergeant should get all of this taken care of in a couple of hours.

DEERS is the system they put you in for the insurance. You need to call his recruiter or any recruiter and let them know someone did not do their job and you need to be put on ASAP.

Gah, anacronym is slipping away, but DEERS is the system that keeps track of all military families. If you aren't in DEERS, you can't get an ID card, you can't enroll in TRICARE, nothing. Because you don't exist to them.
