Natsumi smiled and followed the two, pausing to turn and give a wave to Nita "Goodnight. Pleasent sleep." and so, after mushing pleasent dreams and sleep well into one sentance, she was headed out as well. Even though she was a bit of a people person, she couldn't help but want to retreat back to the solitude of her duplex after the series of awkward moments the night had brung.

"As if I would!" Nita protested, aiming a (mostly) playful kick at Alec's shins. She left the duplex along with the others, calling, "Good night, and sleep well." Letting herself into her own upstairs unit, Nita tossed her soda can into the trash and got ready for bed.

The following events occurred on July 7th

Now that's a lotta bull...

Alec Derring
Alec shuffled his feet along the jungle floor in a leisurely stroll, cig in his mouth as he approached what he was pretty sure was the duplex Nathan had mentioned that night during the poker game. He needed time to relax, music being the best way he could really do so. What better way than to take up a friend's offer for a jam session?

Assuming this was the right duplex, of course. He did say 50, right?

The teen approached the door and placed the cigarette back in his mouth so he could knock loudly. If Nathan was anything like himself, he'd probably be sleeping right about now.

Nathan Moriarity
The knock on the door startled Nathan. His nostrils flared as he sucked in a deep breath. Someone was at his door. It was hard to think straight through the haze of rampaging hormones. He didn't even glance at his bleeding knuckles as he stumbled to the door. Maybe it was someone who could help. Or someone who could make the raging stop.

He flung the door open, his face glimmering with a thin sheen of sweat, and his eyes wide with a mix of panic and need. "A-Alec...?" he asked almost meekly.

Alec Derring
The appearance of the very changed, very disshevelled Nathan at the doorway successfully startled Alec even moreso than the sudden swinging of the door, so much that he took a few steps backwards. His jaw dropped slightly at what he was seeing, cigarette falling to the floor. The teen might've reacted a bit better under the circumstances if the bullman hadn't looked much like a trainwreck, "fresh" from the change.

"Ey... y'alrigh'?" Alec stammered, expression changing from shock to a sort of concern for the poor guy. He wanted to take a step forwards but his feet remained planted.

Nathan Moriarity
Nathan felt a trembling begin in the pit of his belly. "H-Help me...." he pleaded, his now enlarged brow contorting in agony of several sorts. "What am I?" He gripped the door frame and felt the flames spread from his belly outward. His belly.

He let out a shriek as he glimpsed it protruding over the edge of his jeans. "Oh sweet holy ********!" he wheeled and lumbered back into his duplex, grabbing for a longer shirt out of a pile of recently laundered clothes. "What have they done to me?" he breathed.

Alec Derring
Alec visibly jumped as Nathan began to convulse, cringing as he attempted to retreat back inside in obvious pain. What was with him and people changing the second he arrived?!

"Woah-'ey!" He finally managed to move forwards, sprinting to close the distance between himself and the doorway. He skidding to a stop after taking a single step inside the duplex, backing up again. The smell of blood wafted from Nathan's hands as they moved quickly to grab a more concealing piece of clothing, the scent stinging his taste buds into activity. Inhaling sharply in a hiss, he cupped a hand over his mouth in a feeble attempt to make the feeling stop. "Ye'll be ekay." The punkster grunted from behind the palm of his hand. "Ye changin'... it'll be oveh soon."

Nathan Moriarity
"I...guess it had to start sometime..." Nathan groaned, he rubbed at one of the horns on his head with the bloody hand. "At least it looks like I'm not a damn dinosaur like the kid thought." He winced as the tail began to twitch of it's own accord. "Why do I feel so...ARGH!" he spat out in frustration. He began to pace back and forth, rubbing the horn reflexively, gritting his flattened teeth. "I feel like....I need...this is embarassing as all hell. I feel like if I don't get laid I'm gonna DIE."

Alec Derring
Alec watched him pace back and forth, swallowing hard on his own saliva as his mouth continued to water. It didn't help that with Nathan's frantic movements he was spreading the smell more and more throughout the entire room.

"We-..." He choked on his own words until he said nothing as he listened to Nathan's woes. Hungry? Yes. Tired? Of course. Horny? ..... HUH?

All he could do was stand and watch him for a moment, unbelieving at what he'd just heard until he started to laugh. That was a new one. "Wha' th' 'ell?" He snickered amusedly between two guys, naively finding it hilarious.

Nathan Moriarity
"Your guess is as good as mine, man. All I know is I woke up with a headache and a monster need to...you know...and the former is going away but the latter is getting worse. Like...bad." He gripped the horns in his hands and gave them a good yanking.

"Crap...they're real too. And what the HELL is with my stomach! I do 100 crunches a day for my abs you lousy scientific bastards! " He grunted and continued his pacing, his shoulders quivering in response to the demands his body was trying to exert. It was taking all his willpower not to look at Alec for fear of trying something and getting his a** kicked.

Alec Derring
Alec tilted his head to the side, twitching as he watched him yank at the protrusions on his forehead. Unlike himself, it was rather clear what Nathan was turning into now though he still couldn't make the connection between his 'treatments' and his apparent 'feelings'. He still tried to quiet himself as he stared at the guy's newfound tubbiness.

"Mehbeh ye should lie down..." He decided to suggest as he pulled his hand from his face for a moment. "... o' somethin.... yanno." Figuring he wasn't exactly becoming violent anytime soon, the teen shuffled further inside and leaned his back against a wall of his room.

Nathan Moriarity
Nathan snorted, his tail flicking in irritation. "If I lie down without someone under me, I think I might explode, and not in a good way." He gripped a bookshelf and his knuckles went white with the effort. "And the thing is..I don't...gah..you ah...don't happen to be violently homophobic?" He swallowed and then hollered "AND WHY DO I FEEL LIKE CHEWING THE LAWN!?"

Alec Derring
Alec smirked and wiggled his fingers, finally realizing he'd dropped his cigarette outside and now had nothing to occupy his salivary glands with. Great.

His smile faded abruptly when he heard Nathan's question, not exactly understanding it at first. He raised a studded eyebrow and waited in hopes that he'd explain further or at least that he'd heard wrong. "Huh?"

Nathan Moriarity
"I uh...am horny as hell and I don't like girls, if you understand me. So what the hell am I supposed to do on an island full of strangers, not knowing if I flirt with some guy whether or not he'll beat me into a bloody pulp for it? It's not like they have a 'less than straight' section of the island to tip me off. Cripes!" He ran the bloody hand through his hair, unaware of the stain smearing through it. "So if you are a homophobe I'd appreciate it a lot if you didn't beat the crap out of me right now. I haven't wanted to sleep with anyone in years so this is kind of whigging me out..." He closed his eyes and waited for the flurry of blows that might or might not come. Wouldn't be the first time after all.

Alec Derring
Alec's assumptions were validated as Nathan continued on, the teen simply listening in mute silence with his jaw clamped shut. GAY!? .... this was starting to feel a little weird.

"OHHhhhh..." He nodded slowly, looking as passive as he could. Please tell me.. he doesn't think... I... am. He couldn't help but swallow hard again, for other reasons. "Ne... a' won' beat ye." The mohawked kid muttered honestly in response, never being the type to kick the crap out of someone. Come to think of it, he usually was the one to be on the receiving end of a good kick.

"'Am sure theh's pehple like ye... 'ere." He began tentatively to reassure, diverting the attention from himself at all costs though he wasn't sure how well he was doing to make Nathan feel better. It was a little hard at this point.

Nathan Moriarity
"Thanks..." he mumbled. The statements had been twofold. Confess, and test the waters. The waters were apparently icy and not warm for a dip. He clenched his teeth again. "I think maybe I need to go take a really really cold shower. I uh...did you drop by for something?" He blinked, realizing Alec had come over here on his own and probably had a reason for it.

Alec Derring
Alec could tell by Nathan's reaction that they weren't as chummy as they'd been a few moments ago, and although a part of him felt very relieved over this, most of him conscience was making him feel a bad for him. The worst part was that he couldn't exactly think of anything to do to make it better either.

"Ah ye," The teen nodded, remembering his original reason for dropping by in the first place. "A' w'nted t'kneh if ye w'nted t'play a lil? Yanno, jam a bi'?" Although it was impossible for him to cart his entire drum set over to Nathan's duplex that moment, his sticks were always stuffed into his shorts pockets and he'd be more than happy to invite him over for a little while.

Nathan Moriarity
Nathan swallowed and he grimaced. "Maybe tomorrow, or the day after. I...I'm in no condition to leave my room at the moment. I don't even know if I can still play..." he looked down at his blackened fingernails and turned a little green. "Do you...have any idea what I'm becoming?"

Alec Derring
Alec nodded understandingly, expecting such a response. Besides, when he'd come here he'd never guessed he'd be walking into Nathan mid-change anyways. "Neh pr'blem. Ye'll be righ' as rain n' a few days though, neh worrehs." He added optimistically, gesturing towards him.

At the question, he smirked half-heartedly and shrugged his shoulders a bit. "Me guess woul' be a cow, uh... boy. Bull a' mean." He pointed to Nathan's horns in an attempt to justify his assumption and better communicate. He couldn't help but smirk a but stronger when he pointed to his own flattened nose. "Ye ring makes ye look like woon a lil, tuh."

Nathan Moriarity
"A...a bull?" Oh irony of ironies...a creature meant to spend it's life breeding with the females, and being a manly man. Angry and violent and buff. He skittered to look in the broken mirror, aghast as he could see the resemblance.

"Oh what the hell were they thinking?" He glances up at a camera and shouts "Does it amuse you, your arrogant ********!? Did you do this to see how much of a mental screwjob you could manage on me? You should have left me to the Columbians you bastards!"

Alec Derring
Alec grimaced at his yelling, glancing up to where he was shouting and wondering if anyone was really watching. It's not like they'd care anyways, he practically mooned one in the cafeteria and no one did a thing. "A' thin' thas th'point." He mumbled once Nathan had finished his short rant, crossing his arms across his chest so that his fingers could scratch away at the rough patches there. He'd like to think the Doctor had some compassion inside him somewhere.

Columbians? He wouldn't ask. "Sorreh ye-" He was cut off by the rather loud sound of his stomach growling, protesting as if he'd hadn't just eaten a couple of hours before. "Geez... a' feel like a' 'aven't eaten in a fookin week, fo' cripes sakes!" By this time he could sort of guess why judging by what had happened during the soccer match, but it didn't make him any more happy about it.

Nathan Moriarity
Nathan sighed and shook his head, his hair flopping comically between the horns. "Don't let me keep you, man. I really need to take that shower anyway. I need to cool down, in more ways than one, and just do some thinking. This is...a lot to absorb all at once. Thanks for the concern though. I'll give you a ring when I'm ready to jam, ok?"

Alec Derring
Alec gladly accepted that it was his cue to leave, wanting to let the bullman rest from his changes. Hopefully when he woke up he'd feel a bit less 'tense' after the activity in his body had subsided. "Ye, sure. Take i' easeh alrigh'?" The teen got up from his slouching position and made his way over to the door, offering a wave before he left. Despite the... odd... accompaniments to his changes, he was impressed at how well he'd taken them. Being gay really didn't alter his perception of him that much in the end after all, he supposed.

"See ye." He offered once more before he left the duplex.

Nathan Moriarity
Nathan watched Alec go, and with a groan of frustration, he headed to the bathroom for that cold shower. As the door closed behind him, and clothes came off, Alec might have been able to hear the "HOLY CRAP!" emanating from his duplex as he discovered the one possible benefit of being imbued with bull genes.

Pondering the Future

Alec roughly swung the door behind him as he entered his duplex, not bothering to take off his boots as he through himself belly-first onto his bed. He wasn't sure if he was mentally exhausted, physically, or physically as a result of mental exhaustion. Although nothing really major had happened on the island recently (thankfully), there seemed to have been a lot of people changing like a wave. It was hard for him to deal with, having to comfort and console others all hours of the day because he felt he should, he had to.

He hadn't really thought about it, but hadn't his little plan worked so far? He'd been unbothered for only what he could tell as close to many many months. Was it really that long? Or did it just seem like an eternity when every day feels like the last? Like some torture method. You see your friends getting shot, so you know your time will come but they make you wait... and wait... no sleep, no rest at all, all you can think about is the bullet. He wouldn't put it past them. They were probably sitting up there in their posh rooms laughing at the rats in the maze.

God, this place sucked.

But what sucked more, getting pushed into your next step to take you further from who and what you really are, or waiting forever for that hard push to come?

Thoughts drifted to Amaya and her finality. Maybe she'd be happier now that she knows the pain of the unknown was over? She could get used to her new looks and abilities, be happy with herself now that she knew that self was always going to be that way. Maybe he'd feel like that too when he got there.

Lying there thinking, he had realized how much his messed up bedsheets were suffocating when one buried his face in them for an extended period of time. With a tired groan he rolled over for air and lay on his, staring at the ceiling. Steel grey eyes travelled to his drum set but he didn't feel like playing. Maybe just sleep was what he needed. Drifting off...

Sleep brings you an answer, but likely not the one you sought. Nightmares plague your sleep, apprehensions brought to vivid life, but with a strange and alien tone to them.

When you are finally startled awake, you feel a hauntingly familiar sensation. And you realize, perhaps it's ironic that you were lamenting witnessing and being the shoulder for people to cry on after a transformation.... as now it's your turn.

Your eyes widen in their sockets, the steel-grey irises expanding to fill almost the entire visible part of your orb. As you are reeling, adjusting to the changing light input, your whole head begins to ache and swim. With a sickening crunch, your face pushes out and widens, the rough grey scales washing over the entirety of your head save for only the multi-hued peach-fuzz that still clings in a strip to your head.

Then it begins to travel all down your back, a certain striped pattern begining to emerge. However, as it reaches your hips and shoulders, that strange, different-textured brown at your joints also starts to spread becoming unmistakably bark-like. Your hands take on the same grey-scaled texture as your head and back, and your feet feel rubberly as the toes meld and the grey scales coat them as well.

There's a sharp pain in your back and you turn to see the signature backfin of a shark crest, muscles and bone rippling to make way for it as it surges out painfully.

Finally, the pain begins to diminish... only to crest again, this time at your neck. you feel as if razors are slicing gashes into either side of your neck, it feels as if the very veins under your skin crawl and rearrange themselves, as flaps do open up, flaring in the air and you feel lightheaded as oxygen rushes in through a very different source.

The dampness only added to the musty, oppressive humidity as he slowly blinked once, twice, struggling to open his eyelids. The fogginess in his perception made him even more disoriented, and if not for the sticky moisture clinging to his outstretched arms, he'd have never recognized his surroundings as the jungle. No matter how hard he tried, his eyes wouldn't clear.

The shuffling of leaves, a snap of a twig. Something was near.

Where was he? Outside? But how?! The last thing he could remember was laying on his soft bed. The leaves of the underbrush felt cold against his belly and he struggled to arch his back and peer upwards. Whatever the sound, it was getting louder and closer. Adrenaline began to pump through his veins with the thumping of his heart, fear and disillusion sending him mental images of a river full and rushing hard with crimson liquid, the forest floor littered with peices of what only could be described as rotting death. Was he really seeing this? Was this HAPPENING?

He heard a loud crash to his left sounding much like a falling tree breaking through the canopy of foliage and he struggled to move but found himself immobilized. Much like in dream he had as a child, his legs were useless as well as his vocal cords.

Movement was made out amongst the fogginess, a deep green blotch that looked much like a rolled up bale of leaves to him. This was of course until it began moving, shuffling one heavy blob after another until he could see that the 'thing' was either leaving behind an equally-green trail of material, or the creature itself had been longer than expected.

"Ma?" He didn't know why he'd try to say that word so randomly, coming to mind in a sea of mist. The syllable was so simple but the reason he'd utter such a term was lost to him. But it was no good, he couldn't force a sound out at all.

Surprsingly, the thing looked like it was responding to the effort. From what he could tell, it turned and changed its direction to come towards him.

He tried again to call out to it, in vain. 'Come and help me' was all he could think of, 'Please come, I can't move!'. Lifting a shakey arm, he thought that perhaps if he tried hard enough he'd be able to touch the thing. It would save him from the terrible jungle, he knew it.

Unfortunately, the thing seemed to slowly be losing contact. The more he tried to speak, the more it wavered in it's step until it finally began turning away.

"NO! NO PLEASE DON'T!" He cried, flailing the only limb that would obey his commands. "WAIT! WAIT FOR ME!" And suddenly his legs began to move. He was running, chasing, but it was so fast. He was stumbling through ditches, running his shoulders into trees. His only thought now was to be reunited with it, to be protected. Eventually his energy began seeping out of him again so that he felt so much that he was returning to that state of numb helplessness, his foot catching a loose root and tumbling down, down, down, face-first into a series of sharp rocks.

------------------------------------

"AHHHH!!!!" Alec leaped up sideways, shocked that the pain hadn't subsided. It was a DREAM, a horrible dream, why was it still hurting!? Oh God, it hurt so much!

His head swirled in a dizzy stupor and the youngster teetered until he fell onto the floor of his duplex. His head, what was going on!? He held his palms out flat, smacking his temples over and over but the crunching, cracking, twisting tremors of pain only seemed to get worse. Unlike his nightmare, his screams broke freely from his strained vocal cords, incoherent shireks that came in spurts as the pain did.

Eyes were forced shut and he tried to roll back and forth, writhing on the carpetted floor until he roll far enough that he landed on his back. The sharpest pain, a spear stabbing straight into his spinal column like he was being silently chastized for the action. He was as if he was impaled, a stiff object underneath him preventing him from laying back.

Finally when he was able to calm a little, pain tolerance adjusting to the constant and shrill throbs, he managed to brace his arms infront of his so that his head hang towards the ground. His sobs came in gasps but his best attempts at catching his breathe weren't helping. Maybe he was hyperventilating? Water. Water. Need water. Throat so dry.

Slowly he crawled like a pathetic insect stamped and mushed into the ground, the bark on his knees catching on the carpet so that he didn't get very far. The com system. Need help. Dark black eyes glanced slowly up towards the doorway, sunlight streaming through the nearby window.

Big mistake.

Nita was jerked out of a sound sleep by a high-pitched shriek. She sat up abruptly, legs automatically trying to drag her out of bed. Something was wrong, something was dangerous! The girl stood breathing hard, working to calm her furiously thumping heart, trying to make sense of the situation. Nothing in her room was moved. Everything was how it should be... She shifted uneasily, the scream echoing in her mind. Downstairs. Had something happened to Alec?

She bit her lip, debating the wisdom of going to check on him. What if he had been attacked.. but what would attack a teenaged boy in his own duplex in the early hours of the morning? Looking down at herself to check that she was decently clothed, it suddenly hit her. Without further ado, Nita was on the balcony, hurrying down the steps and knocking on Alec's door, a bottle of Tylenol clenched in one had.

"Alec?" she called, knocking. "Alec? Are you okay?"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 21, 2006 10:58 pm

Alec heard the knock, jumping out of his skin as the sound jolted his sensitive and ever-throbbing temples. He was shaking from head to foot, not able to recognize such a simple and familiar noise.

For awhile he did his best to say nothing but found it hard to stay silent. If a wild beast was around, he'd surely be dinner for the simple reason that event though it was easy enough not to speak, he was still gasping for air in short gulps that shook his shoulders. "Nita?" The realization dawned on him as he heard the distinctly female voice, though at first his response was most likely much too shakey and quiet to be of use.

Swallowing a bit of air, he squinted towards the doorway once again although his retinas were screaming for somesort of shaded darkness. "NITAAA?!" He called out again with a bit more force though ending in a quiet whimper, his voice shaking and sounded very much frantic and afraid.

Nita listened for any sign of movement from inside, praying Alec hadn't passed out. Or, if he had, that he'd left his door unlocked. Finally came that pathetic cry. "s**t s**t s**t," she muttered, turning the doorknob.

Thank God, Nita thought as the door opened easily. "Oh, Alec," she said softly, kneeling beside him. He had definitely changed, and was looking distinctly more shark-like. Hopefully red pandas were novel enough not to be a post-change snack.

"What do you need?" Nita asked, voice businesslike and caring all at once. "I've got pain relievers. I.. I heard you scream."
PostPosted: Fri Jul 21, 2006 11:14 pm

Alec's mind raced as he realized his door may be locked and that he might have to actually walk over and unlock it. Fortunately the click of the doorknob put him at ease for a moment, long enough to forget to look away and subsequently receive another eyeful of sunlight. A strung out groan indicated his repeated mistake and he found himself unable to respond to Nita in anything more coherent than a few more groans of pain.

"Somethin' hawd.... hit me'ead..." He croaked, rolling onto his side beside Nita. Although he'd been grappling an his face for awhile now, it didn't seem to have sunk in yet that his facial structure had changed at all. "So thirsteh..."

'Hit his head, indeed.' Of course, Alec's newly changed face was the first thing Nita noticed. "Water," she said firmly. With a sympathetic glance, she stood quickly and found a relatively clean glass in the kitchen area. Nita returned, the glass full, and sat cross-legged on the floor.

"Can you sit up? You shouldn't drink lying down." She twisted the bottle open and handed Alec the cup plus a couple pills.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 21, 2006 11:30 pm

Alec gladly accepted the water and medication but didn't feel like budging at all. In that position the changes didn't hurt so badly. It was when he tried to move or reposition himself that he really felt the soreness throughout. "Muuuh..." He grunted pathetically but could already hear Nita's disapproving chatter, so he made an effort to sit up. It felt very odd to be sitting on his rump, on account of the awkward protrusions down his back but it at least gave him an opportunity to stare at his legs.

Wow. He was... leafing. What the hell, where'd his toes go? "Ugh." He muttered, still not forming comprehensible responses. He was too preoccupied with trying to wriggle what was left of his toes, now glaring down at the rubbery globs that ended his ankles. Without thinking to take the pills as well, the teen went about sucking down the water he was given, still finding himself immensely thirsty. "D'neh." He finally managed to make a response that was half-understandable, shifting his heels underneath him a bit as if he was contemplating standing but not trying it just yet. His head was still throbbing too much.

Nita followed his gaze. So it looked like Alec would eventually lose his legs too... and were those leaves?? She caught a glimpse of fins along his back, along with the gills on his neck.

"The pills," she reminded him gently. Nita was careful to keep her voice low, figuring if her face had changed that much, she would have a raging headache. She sat still except for her hands, which she wrung in her lap. Poor kid. Nita had never seen someone quite so soon after a change. It was harder than she'd imagined, and she hadn't even seen the transformation itself.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 21, 2006 11:48 pm

Still a little confused and disoriented, he hadn't realized he was still gripping the tiny pills in his hand still until Nita mentioned them. Jolting back to reality, he shook his head a bit and all at once tried to pop them into his mouth.... and missed. It seemed he miscalculated the distance and such just a tad.

Flustered and aggitated, the teen quickly scrambled to gather them up from his lap and stuffed them past his sharp teeth to make sure he didn't miss this time. He almost went cross-eyed as he swallowed and finally noticed the narrow 'snout' he'd developed. Now he really was too afraid to look in the mirror.

Letting his head droop down, he began to sniffle again.

Nita winced when he missed his mouth. Even with her proto-muzzle, her face was still shaped like a human's. "There you go," she muttered, venturing a quick pat on the arm.

She really didn't know quite what to do when Alec started sniffling again. If it were pretty much anyone else, Nita would have just held on to them for a while, but her relationship with Alec was just so damn weird. Nita shifted slightly and hissed through her teeth as something sharp poked her thigh. Feeling around on the floor for a moment, she produced a small piece of jewelry. Alec's eyebrow stud.

"Here..." Nita said tentatively, holding it towards him.
