Dokku, hoping that he would make it out of the tragic situation he was in, proposed to Shizaru the woman he tried saving all those years ago. Nina, the little girl who had caused some of the problem reminded Naruto to never give up and to save her parents who were on the verge of losing everything. Naruto turns into his true form with the controlled tailed beast and saves Shizaru from falling into a bottomless pit. Then he destroys the monster attacking everyone while Dokku puts the rods in place to save them all with Nina's help of humming the tune one last time. Now in the sort of present, Naruto was reading a letter from Dokku and smiled about what he had accomplished.

Naruto joins the battlefield and is able to tell who is an enemy and who isn't as well, he easily defeats one of the reanimated shinobi, where the reanimated is promptly sealed. Meanwhile Gaara's team is faced off against 4 of the previous Kage where Gaara and the Stone Kage step in first to face them in battle.

Naruto and Killer Bee meet up with the reanimated Nagato and Itachi. Itachi uses one of his storm crows to break the spell that Kabuto has on him. But Nagato isn't so lucky. They continue to fight.

Episode 299 Shippuden
Naruto's soul was getting sucked out when Itachi came to help release that jutsu and saved Naruto's life. Then, when Nagato was using the gravitational pull in order to crush his enemies against a planet of rock floating in the sky, Itachi commands of everyone to use their long range jutsu to destroy the magnetic core sucking the rock into it. Then just after sealing Nagato, Itachi reminds Naruto to never forget the friends that he obtained over the years and why he is respected now in order to avoid becoming like Madara. Naruto thanks Itachi as Itachi goes to find Kabuto to stop the reanimation jutsu once and for all.

Naruto helps Gaara's team defeat the previous stone Kage and Gaara managed to put a stop to the Genjutsu being cast on the shinobi. However, the stone Kage ends up suffering at the hands of the old water kage.

Naruto has a talk with 8 tails about how to defeat the old Raikage and discovers that the Old Raikage hit himself to earn the only scar he ever received but was too embarrassed to talk about. So, Naruto uses sage mode and an ordinary rasengan to hit the raikage in the elbow and thus forcing the raikage to hit himself again and then be successfully sealed. Now the only one left is the water kage of old whispy whiskers.

Gaara's team finally was able to seal the water Kage just as Naruto arrived and now Naruto is on his way to the next battlefield.

The sound ninja 4 who were defeated a long time ago by Neji, Shikamaru, Choji, and Kiba have returned from the dead for their revenge thanks to Kabuto's reanimation jutsu. After being defeated a second time, the sound ninja 4 prepares a transportation technique to send our heroes to "hell" with them for one final showdown, but with much higher stakes.

The sound 4 begin fighting our heroes. The allied medical team and HQ realize that unless the barrier where our heroes are being held is found, then our heroes cannot be rescued.

Naruto finds the barrier where the sound ninja 4 are holding our heroes and breaks through and therefore is able to save them.

A reanimated from the leaf asks Kabuto questions about what's happened and then is dispatched by Kabuto to steal more corpses from the Allied Shinobi medical camps. One medical ninja named Ugal had been a part of the Anbu black ops, but claims that she can no longer fight on the battlefield like she used to. And now that her camp is under attack it looks like she will have to.

There is a flashback to when Ino, Choji, Shikamaru, and Naruto have to kidnap a young lord and take him to his home from someone holding him against his will. Luckily an eating contest helps in the mission where a large wicker basket is the prize that Choji wins.
