It was pathetic, really. Miyuki had done her best to be removed from her emotions to help Thresher but her heart and her head were not in alignment and it made her head spin. She had flickered somewhere else entirely. To the place she and Thresher had first...

It was a sign. Or maybe it was coincidence - she didn't know, she didn't care. She couldn't think clearly, could only let her heart ache for Thresher and it felt like there was a toad in her throat and she couldn't speak or wail and gods how she wanted to. She'd braced Thresher against the wall of a building and tried her best to think of a plan but her mind couldn't leave the idea of Thresher.

And so Miyuki had failed her. She had stood there watching the injured, unconscious Thresher and failed to think. Thankfully, the stars had aligned and been kind, and she hadn't needed the weight of the world on her shoulders because in the three minutes she'd stood there with Thresher, Kenshin and Kameyo had had time to return to the village and that cleansing chakra had taken over the streets and Miyuki watched as buildings repaired themselves in the blink of an eye.

And she choked down a sob of relief and pulled Thresher back over her shoulders and flickered back to the hospital carefully. There, she was able to waive down a medic who was miraculously okay to tend to Thresher. Miyuki bit at her nails, a habit she'd broken at six years old, as she watched, praying that her good luck could continue and that she could continue to rely on everyone else because she certainly couldn't rely on her heartbroken self.

Avalanche paused their pursuit as Kaito’s sensory powers relayed the information. The information about Kenshin, the righteous hero of the APD and the moral backbone of Arashi, has fixed the situation did not sit right with the vigilante. According to the latest report Kenshin had decided to work in his silver city and abandon the needs of the storm people. This proved to be wrong, and when Kaito offer to pursue the shire they nodded with no hesitation. Avalanche moved toward the shire with an enhanced ability to exhale. Now that they knew Kaito was safe, it was easier for them to pursue their ninja duty.

Technique(s) Used:

_
____
_☆ Phantom Blade [ Yūrei no Ha ] | Rank S | Complex
____★ A technique closely resembling the Samurai's Saber Technique. The user coats their weapon in a haunting demonic appearing chakra, creating a solid blade of chakra atop their original blade with up to a one foot extension. This technique requires an upkeep cost of two ranks below the executed rank with an E Rank minimum. In addition, the user is able to swing their blade, allowing it to send the chakra blade coating their own flying five feet per rank of the technique. Objects containing chakra that are sliced with this skill while attached to the user's real weapon have chakra absorbed equal to the upkeep cost of this technique and is automatically used to pay for the next posts upkeep.
_☆ S+ ranked buki formless to deflect the tailed beast balls. If it has to be a move then I'll edit this in, but since this seems like the end of the fight I think this should be fine to leave it generic.
____
_
____

Technique(s) Active:

_☆Cherry Blossom Impact | Rank S+ | Spiritual
____★ This technique utilizes the user‘s fine chakra control. The user will first build up a high amount of chakra to a striking body part, and then release it in an instant, increasing strength exponentially at the moment of impact. Strikes that impact solid structures cause them to crack and crumble upon contact. This technique gives the user bonuses to strength equal to their strength increases. Once activated this jutsu lasts for eight [8] posts and is treated as supplementary.
_
____
_
____

Passive Effects:
_☆ Spectral Movement [ Yūrei Idō ] | Rank A | Training
___○ After countless hours of practicing skills that utilize chakra pathways, the user is capable of leaving phantasms of their own body at the end of every phantom slayer technique they perform for no additional cost. These are considered E rank phantasms, effecting only sight.
_☆ Flame Breathing Pattern [ Kaen Kokyū Hōhō ] | Rank D | Training
___○ The user is accustomed to the unique and various breaths that it takes to perform physical attacks as well as to channel chakra. This allows the user to passively detect when an offensive action is about to occur, giving them a [1] point increase in agility per body rank of the user. Additionally, once every three posts, the user is able to defend against an offensive activation without utilizing an activation.
_☆ Flame Attunement [ Chōsei Sa Reta Honō ] | Rank C | Training
___○ By practicing the style's many forms, the user has learned to reduce the chakra needed for equal results by finite control. This reduces the required chakra by 5 per rank for complex techniques that channel elemental powers. In addition, this does not reduce the potency of the user's techniques in collisions.
_☆ Flames of Deception [ Kyogi no Hi ] | Rank C | Training
___○ Once per post when using a technique from this style after the user completes this training, a C Ranked elemental clone of the user may be created in their place as they move out of sight in some manner through role play. This costs no activation but requires a C Rank amount of chakra each time done. These clones have access to C Rank and below Basic Combat Skills. In addition, each of these clones, upon being stricken with a value equal or greater to C Rank explode, sending their specific element flying outward fifteen feet. Each clone requires an E Ranked Upkeep per post.
_☆ Dragon's Direction | Rank C | Training
___○ Spiritual Doki Yari techniques can have chakra recycled for the use of another attack. This is done by reversing the flow of chakra being generated through the pole arm then exerting the chakra again for the next technique. This cannot be used to recycle chakra that is no longer in contact with the pole arm. Chakra is recycled at one rank lower in value than the technique being recycled. This chakra must be used by the end of the following post.
_☆ Ancient Teachings | Rank B | Training
___○ Becoming more familiar with molding chakra into their attacks, the user is able to spend five less chakra per rank of a complex or spiritual technique and must pay no less than 5 chakra for a technique.
_☆ Fluid Movement | Rank E | Training
___○ Techniques used for a blocking, countering or evasive action have their cost reduced by 5 stamina per rank of the technique and must pay no less than 5 stamina.
_☆ Whirlpool Walking | Rank C | Training
___○ The user is now more adept at using circular footwork and can use it against multiple attackers, usually weaving between them, keeping them bumping into each other or simply getting in each others way, taking away any numerical advantage. In the deflecting stance, the user can deflect a technique of their body rank or lower once every three posts for no activation, still requiring the stamina/chakra cost paid.
_☆ Move As Water | Rank A | Training
___○ The user has dealt with so many situations being outnumbered that their ability to move in tight and confined spaces is greatly increased. The user’s blade work is tighter, relying on their body and footwork to generate force. The user’s footwork is so fluid that they are able to turn on a dime, making a combination of strikes go into multiple directions without interrupting the combination. Techniques that target multiple opponents may now have additional reserves paid in order to strengthen the effectiveness of the individual attack to the next highest rank. These can be paid individually, not requiring chakra or stamina to be paid for every split technique.
_☆ Riptide | Rank S | Training
___○ The user has learned that movement is life, and to stop moving is to die. By adding extra effort and urgency to their techniques, the user may perform more in a given motion than an untrained individual. In the Weak Stance, the user may perform 4 activations in a given post. In the Strong Stance, the user may perform an additional offensive activation each post. Each additional technique costs an extra 20 Chakra to perform and must be either basic combat or come from this Style.
_☆ Order Secret: Redirection [ Chūmon no Himitsu: Ridairekushon ]| Rank A | Training
___○ The user's tireless training with the Shield as a part of their everyday combat kit has taught them to effortlessly direct the force of an opponent's strike so that any of their added strength boosts being used when interacting with a shield is nullified.
_☆ Order Secret: Arcane Wisdom [ Chūmon no Himitsu: Nankaina Chie ] | Rank S | Training
___○ The user has mastered their chakra during combat. This focus and chakra control allows the user to deflect ninjutsu with shield techniques equal in cost and strength. Additionally, the Empowered Guard Stance is now able to block ninjutsu equally with their complex application.
_☆ Undertow | Rank D | Training
___○ This training focuses on using movement when you attack, carrying that much more force. After this skill is trained, any attack that follows a dodge or evasive technique is treated as a counterattack, and the user's total bonus to agility can be attributed to the strength of the next attack. When this ability is performed it cannot be used the following post.
_☆ Repeating Wave | Rank B | Training
___○ The user's training has focused on their agility ability to strike while avoiding harm. Once every three posts, the user may utilize an offensive technique that targets a specific part of the target's body that would disrupt their attack. This offensive attack deals damage regularly but allows the user to use their remaining activations as offensive as well.
_☆ Heavy Punch | Rank E | Training
___○ The basis of the style, punch hard, punch first. The user is able to spend stamina in order to increase the strength of their punches for no activation. For each rank applied, a [1] point increase to strength is conferred.
_☆ Invigorating Kaiser Armor Training | Rank B | Training
___○ The user's armor retains it's former effects. Now, the armor emits a crackling, bright, white hot chakra that appears like a thin aura around the user. The chakra causes mild burns on contact. In addition, the user gains a [1] point increase to strength and speed per rank of the armor.
_☆ Bolstering Kaiser Armor Training | Rank A | Training
___○ This training adds to the previous effects of the Kaiser armor's technique. In addition to that, the target's armor now allows them to regenerate 10 stamina per rank of chakra applied to each technique while the armor is active. The user may not generate more stamina than their reserves may hold.
_☆ Kaiser Armor Mastery | Rank S | Training
___○ The final stage of training for the Kaiser Armor. In addition to it's previous effects, the Kaiser armor now causes searing burns upon contact that blister due to the crackling chakra. Additionally, the user's strength and speed are increased by [1] point per rank of the armor instead of it's original [1] point. Taijutsu and bukijutsu techniques used while this armor is active create shock waves five feet in the direction of the attack per rank of the technique.
_☆ Cicada Shell | Rank B | Training
___○ After learning the Shadow Clone Technique from the maruton list, the user may cast the Shadow Clone technique in conjunction with techniques from this style to replace mirror images with the clones. Casting Shadow Clones in this manner does not consume an activation.
_☆ Multi-Mirror Image Training | Rank A | Training
___○ The user has learned to control their chakra in a fine manner which allows them to create an additional mirror image per rank of the technique it is executed with. These additional images do not increase the strength of the parent technique.
_☆ Elemental Doubling | Rank C | Training
___○ The user does a single post of training where they practice combining their techniques with more than a single element. Once completed, all techniques are able to carry two elemental properties. This does not allow for Elemental Bloodlines to be used in this manner.
_☆ Elemental Body Flickering | Rank B | Training
___○ The user, having utilized this taijutsu to encompass all known elements is able to treat shunshin techniques of the elemental releases as this taijutsu, allowing them not to consume a ninjutsu slot.
_☆ Combining Elemental Training | Rank A | Training
___○ The user does a single post of training where they practice combining their techniques with their elemental bloodline affinity, allowing them to combine the techniques of this style with their bloodline properties, including statuses inflicted by said bloodlines.

The Abyssal Blade
Rank: Oinin 磁気 | Classes: Bukijutsu | Bukijutsu| Bloodline 力 | Body Rank: S+ 勇 | Elements: Water, Wind

tab While the physical blows given to her by Saiko were no joke, it wasn’t something Thresher wouldn’t have been able to deal with normally. What was causing her so much trouble was that damn illusion he’d put her in. While Thresher was receiving care, the sharkgirl was barely able to even try to remain conscious, slipping in and out of it like an early morning. The Oinin found herself back in the nightmare of the Tsukuyomi realm whenever her mind faded from consciousness. Even though the Genjutsu was over, Thresher still found herself reliving the traumatic events again and again. Of watching her family and her village become victims to the mass murdering monster Jashin. Of watching Miyuki explode into a cloud of blood and organs before her very eyes. Every second of every eternity was spent, watching the events play out forever and ever One would think after what felt like one thousand years Thresher would become acclimated to it, but it was the opposite. Each replay hurt the girl more and more as each time she was reminded of her own powerlessness, of her own inability to help the people she loved most.

Thresher woke up violently in a hospital bed. She was covered in cold sweat and her breathing was rushed. Her fingers gripped onto the bed sheet like her life depended on it as she bolted upright in a panic. Thresher looked around wildly, her eyes darting around in a panic as she tried to figure out what was going on. Her breathing slowed once she saw Miyuki, no longer wrapped in the black and white silhouette of the Tsuykuyomi realm. Thresher could hardly believe it after what felt like a lifetime of watching her lover perish before her eyes, and the Hoshigaki could feel tears welling up moments after they’d formed. Thresher could sense that Miyuki was upset, the scent of worry and fear and pain rolling off of the artist like rain as she bit her nails. Thresher, too, felt dread in her heart on an instinctual level, waiting for the Genjutsu to continue and for her to have her love ripped from her once again. But before that could happen again, Thresher reached a hand and caressed Miyuki’s soft, beautiful face with her hand. ‘’Ey there,” Thresher’s voice came out as a dry croak as she attempted to smile, tracing her thumb along the woman’s cheek. “Didja miss me?”

▱▰▱ Surf or Swim | Walking on or submerged in water, Hoshigaki can dodge for one rank less in resource and their speed is boosted by [1] at E-C body rank and [2] at B-S+ body rank. They are also able to use bloodline techniques with somatic gestures.

The user may use clan techniques through animalistic vocalizations but this takes just as much time to mold chakra as handseals.

                                                        • Sharkskin is tough and jarring to others so any physical contact made with a Hoshigaki results in tier one paralysis on the limb that made contact with the Hoshigaki.

Through their rigorous endeavors with their mighty weapon, the practitioner has developed immaculate upper body strength. Because of this impressive development, the user needs only a single hand to wield large sized weapons.

                                                        ▰ Fallen Strength | Rank A | Training
The user's monstrous strength allows them to wield their hammer with a single hand, freeing their second hand for various tasks. Miyuki's breath caught when Thresher stroked her face. The artist cupped the shark's hand for a moment before she folded downwards, wrapping her arms around Thresher's neck and letting out a choked sob. It was pathetic and human and inevitable. She let herself cry into the nook of Thresher's neck for a minute before pulling herself together. "I am so sorry I failed to protect you. I... I do not know what I would have done with you." She pulled back, looked at Thresher and felt reassured that everything would be okay. It would - it had to be.

She sniffled and tried to think of what to say that would make Thresher break out into her signature grin. "You kicked some a** back there," she cussed before breaking into a wet smile, wiping her eyes. "It was really impressive. And the Jashinists left almost immediately after. Scared of you, I bet," she said before laughing a little. "But it is not quite over. We still need to go to the Spire and check on things there, even though the Sannin came and restored the village with his Tenseigan. The kage has not given any kind of announcement yet so I suspect he is still meeting with his advisors or planning something. We should hurry over there if you feel well."

tab Thresher wasn’t expecting Miyuki to suddenly fall into her like that. The Hoshigaki gently lifted her own arms around the artist and embraced her while the brunette cried into the sharkwoman’s shoulder. After what felt like centuries of watching her love die in the most painful ways, Thresher was thankful for the soft touch that reminded her of what reality was like. Like a way to ground herself from the previous illusions and nightmares. But, by comparison, it also reminded Thresher of just how powerless she was.

“Psssh, they prob’ly turned tail ‘cause of you! Scared o' whatever hell you were boutta rain on them, for sure! Prob’ly like ‘oh s**t that was Miyuki’s girlfriend? s**t let’s get outta here!’” Thresher laughed a little at her own nonsense and kissed Miyuki on the top of her head. While she joked, the Hoshigaki had to face reality. That man… the Jashinist had been strong. Far, far too strong. That power he had, Genjutsu she supposed, was nothing to sneeze at. Attacks on the mind wasn’t something Thresher was equipped for, and it just showed her where she needed to improve. But… how? Thresher’s gaze turned around the room absently where her eyes fell on Kabutowari, leaning against the wall. Not like Thresher knew the sword would be able to provide any answers, but it’s presence was calming to her as much as Miyuki’s.

As Miyuki rose to leave, so did Thresher. The woman put her Oinin gear back on, aside from her mask, clasping the vest and greaves to her body. With a flex of her hand and an effort of will, Thresher called Kabutowari back to her and clasped it to her back, feeling the familiar weight of the hammer and axe. “And M’yuki?” Thresher stopped just before they left, to plant another kiss on the artists head. “Ya didn’ fail t’ protect me yanno. The fact o’ me stanin’ ‘ere as I live an’ breathe is proof of tha’. Ya did good.”

The two would share one more embrace before leaving for the Spire.

When arriving at the hospital if and when Kagerou would eventually return to he office. Waiting outside the door would be Hagane Toshi. Or rather a large standing mirror. It wouldn't say anything but stand patiently. When Kagerou would approach it, it would say nothing. What floated upwards was nicely bound black hard leather journal with a squid buckle insignia. The insignia appeared to be a fuuin. Something only a seal specialist would be capable of. Inherently as if it knew if would give this journal to Kagerou as if it were a task that was assigned to it. Toshi was usually quite the talkative yokai but what with the recent news buzzing about it was reasonable to assume it wasn't in a talking mood. Should Kagerou remove the seal an peruse the contents she would find its contents to be something of a remnant from the previous Arashikage. Task fulfilled Hagane would leave at its earliest convenience. Although some of the pages not currently visible had additional seals on them and other pages simply made no sense at all. Dates and titles were utterly morphed by black ink, Digging through what was immediately plausible to understand would result in the following.

I've decided to record my progress in regards to not only the village but myself as of today. Seeing as Ka-nee will be leaving soon on her requested vacation..or was it a sabbatical? I'd rather she didn't, but I can't be selfish. After all she's done quite the fair amount for me already so this record will be her hopefully temporary replacement. They say that recording your thoughts is therapeutic and a partial substitute for a therapist. While she has referred others in her field there is simply no replacing her. Additionally I feel as though there would certainly be bias do to my reputation regardless. Ever since the day Ka-nee helped me regain my mental acuity, I've been feeling as though I've become less and less able to control myself. Ah, well in a more mental sense I suppose. Not entirely sure what exactly it is I'm losing control of per say. However, its certainly a feeling in which I don't feel control. One would believe that being the host to a tailed beast would be the reason but Saiken is more than likely why I've been so capable of keeping myself together so to speak. Truthfully since I was young I always did have the recurring chitter in my head. As I've made Kagerou already aware somedays I feel as if I'm an entirely different person. That of course, one could attribute to my fluctuations in regards to certain trigger scenarios. Still. Where I believed at one point I didn't quite know myself I can for certain say now I indefinitely feel as though I don't know myself as well as I'd like.

Satoshi is being rambunctious again. I don't think I've told anyone this or even Kagerou, at least not to the truer extent, but being a father and Satoshi in general. Raising him. He has always been like a son to me. Now Toso you might say. Of course he's like a son to you. Of course Toso, I agree but that's the problem. Satoshi has always been LIKE a son to me. They say there are many forms of bonds, and love, and relationships and that's just it. They say that a mans love for his own son as he holds them in his hands is immeasurable. Satoshi is not my son. By definition. He Is Sandayu's. He never will be and I believe that will always prove to be a hurdle I will have difficulty with. Even when he imitates me, when I look in his eyes I don't see MY child but a being that was forced to become it. I hate that I feel this way. Every instance of my attempts to be a father are all a farce. Regurgitated lines from father figures in television and media spouting the same encouraging things they said and to another extent the things my father never said to me. The true irony of it all is how if ever at all why it seemed fitting to give a man whose relationship with his own father was one paved in blood and judgement would ever be considered to become a father himself. I left Satoshi in Ebihara's care because I trusted my sister would be a better fit for raising him. After all she already had two children of her own. Yet, perhaps this was ultimately why Satoshi gravitated towards me in the first place...some days. I regret it. Satoshi's entire relationship with me and its foundation was founded on a promise made with someone in the most least romantic way possible. When levied against either A. The destruction and deaths of innocent lives or B. becoming a pseudo-father, at times...I think...what if. Perhaps I should have just chosen the option A. Then perhaps not only would my worries I'm having now never have existed to begin with but perhaps my position as the Arashikage would have been reconsidered. That said. Lets remind ourselves that we swore we would bend until we broke for this village. I will make this a safe place for Satoshi to grow and develop and where I fail, Kameyo or his teachers I'm certain will provide the care and tutelage he needs. Also a reminder. We have a meeting with White Water, New Iron Industries, and Procapita LLC today.

I've been trying to find something. Something to fill this uncomfortable feeling that floods my body every day. Since the day the village was entrusted to me this feeling has existed but now...now its far worse than it ever was before. I personally already know the reason. We know the reason. Recent events. Feelings of betrayal. Suspicions and paranoia. What's been bothering me particularly today. The pinnacle of medical advancement I'd worked in tandem with Kagerou while its essentially at the brink of completion...I've...closed the project. With all the occurrences that have been ongoing recently I simply cannot continue to let things go as they have been. If I told Kagerou that we only need a few more tests that push the boundary she'd continue self-sacrificing for me and this is simply something I don't want to continue thinking about. Adding to the school that was set alight by some unknown individual. Here I go claiming to create a Sanctuary yet one that welcomes people from the outside into its walls. Its almost an oxymoron. Perhaps the sunk cost fallacy is at play here but so long as I maintain proper security and the nin under my wing maintain proper protocol the ship can continue to sail smoothly. Maybe I'm being naive. But those that often seek Sanctuary are the poor and downtrodden and those with nowhere else to go. Am I to deny them a place where they can live in peace? That has always been my vision for Arashi. A safe place. A place away from all the violence the world continually throws at the common man. I will continue to do everything in my power to keep it that way. It is thanks to Kenshin and his men that he raised that the crime rate in the village has been close to nil. Barring a few unforeseen circumstances. The rest of the day I will continue to purge the remnants of the clowns that had to do with the events at the Leyline and Sato. I will likely miss my date with Kameyo. I will have to apologize profusely. Despite her statements an reassurances I know for a fact that me being a man of my word and breaking that word for what seems to be exclusively her must be grating...I..I want to discuss Sato with her...but I..well I simply don't have the time. Perhaps I'm just making excuses at this point to avoid that particular conversation topic...but there is no denying that these clowns are dangerous and need to be excised.

Earlier today, a young anbu came in and asked me a question about my advisors. Why did I choose those that I did. The short answer of course was because they were whom I considered my friends and if not friends then minimally confidants. However, it made me think. When was the last time since that exercise had it been since I'd talked to Selina? Let alone Shion. Kagerou and Kameyo were givens due to the fact that one was my wife and the other my psychiatrist. My wife...maybe another day I'll feel the need to express more about that subject matter. I'd rather keep this entry on subject. Right. He also asked me what purpose the positions had. Of course I explained but then he questioned me about Shion's position. If Kenshin as in charge of the APD handling internal affairs then what purpose was there to be found in the position of Militant affairs if we Arashigakure were a peaceful isolationist existence supposedly devoid of war and the potential declarations of war...and..I told him...there was no purpose. Shion..her position was given to her in the chance event that such did happen but I gave her that position because in short...I didn't want her to be a part of any such thing but still keep her close to me. As time goes by and people begin pursuing their own goals its only natural they grow apart. Of course we know thats the selfish reason Toso. She'd likely punch you for this but the other reason we know is simply because you're afraid that any other position would result in her getting into hot water eventually with her personality...and if that were to happen there would a chance of you losing her. One of the last remaining people from your past. Clinging on to her as more than a friend but a reminder that your efforts and the efforts of those before you weren't for not. That there are people like you still standing. You can't let that happen and if you ever did allow such a thing to happen that will be the day we loose all respect for ourselves.

Evidently the sun decided to go dark. The people were uneasy as was I but I had to get a further understanding of the situation unfolding. Later did I discover this was all some complex narrative orchestrated by a god forsaken crow and 'gods'. The particular god in question evidently Jashin. Many things unfolded but the one thing that I gathered from it was how much I found a negative impression on 'gods' Belamos...he gave his life to ascend and then it had me thinking about the past. Sandayu. Kagami. More particularly how Sandayu executed all of his cruelties on a basis of also 'ascending' himself. That what stopped him was the combined efforts of Kenshin and Belamos and how Kenshin was also evidently blessed by a 'goddess'. So. One could say Belamos and his sacrifice was noble, it was after all done to save the world...and yet. Why was it even necessary to begin with? If gods and beings of such power do exist why do they continue to let suffering continue, why do they continue to allow the people they allegedly reign over face hardships. The philosophical answer of course is 'TO GROW'. Yet, I can't shake the reality of it that in the end its all just unnecessary. These beings have all this power, potential power to both shape and end the world and I can only see it as if they are looking at us from above like an etymologist observes ants..and it frustrates me beyond belief. What's even more frustrating is a book I've acquired and how everything in it is just entirely indiscernible but keeps leaving me with more questions. I'll sleep on it today..after the meetings with MiracleQ, and EcOn. Here's hoping they don't dragon on too long.

With Belamos having retired it shouldn't come to me as a surprise that Kenshin would be on his way out as well. We never saw eye to eye often but at least to some degree he now tolerates me. I should have Ada to thank for this. There is an old saying. There are dreamers and realists. The dreamers need the realists or they'll float into the sun and the realists need the dreamers or they'll never get off the ground. Officer Kosei soon to be Hyuuga and I suppose ex-officer. He got the job done. I admired him for that ethic. How many of my ideas have fallen short or were done half hearted? At least to my knowledge Kenshin committed to everything he's ever done...I do so miss how he finished his paperwork in a timely manner. Sometimes I wonder if he'd have ever considered taking the mantle of kage. How different would Arashi be? Truthfully...I wish we'd repaired our relationship sooner. I've always been the tender touch and Kenshin and Belamos were the firm hands I needed. I envy them. Capable of making sacrifices that benefit the whole at the expense of the few. Yet my stubbornness still tries to find a way where there is no expense and if any I'm personally the one to be expended. Even if one is a 'god' now Belamos had the ability to practically be anywhere and everywhere at once. I simply hope that his daughter is doing well for herself as she hasn't come to me for any assistance that I'm aware of...I realize I'm too nice and Saiken accentuates that I suppose. Sometimes I think perhaps I should retire, I'm always finding it so hard to slam the book at someone. Yet if I were to be slammed by the book myself I feel I'd have no qualms. I know I've been long deserving of it and maybe even more so now. I'm so tired and can barely keep my eyes open but then who would watch over the village? I suppose it is a bad time to realize just how integrated I am into the village. The village is self-sustaining due to my encouragement and bolstering of certain businesses, I've developed a chakra network that practically only I've been capable of understanding fully, the village moves do to the procedures and steps I've personally taken would anyone even be able to understand the intricacies of keeping this village in a sustainable state? Perhaps I'm being egocentric but I also suppose...I've shot myself in the foot here in that I'd rather be the tired pilot than giving the keys to a drunk pilot. Leading into, I stopped drinking. Congratulations Toso. At least not as much as I used to. It just made me feel all the emptier on the inside once I sobered. As if it was never enough. There it is again Toso. Nothing is ever enough for you is it? Of Of course not. Kagerou has officially taken her leave and only now am I realizing just how strange it is recording and reading back my thoughts in previous entries. Truly its all starting to weigh on me that the occurrences barring the sun incident have been my fault. My marriage whom the wife assures me isn't failing that's failing. The upbringing of a child that despite my better efforts I apparently can't seem to give the rightfully deserved love to because he didn't come from a womb and my seed, and of course the village whom for 'their own safety' I forcefully moved into the sky. Truly an innovator aren't we Tosokurui?

I closed down Ika-Shokuji today. It was one of my most painful experiences but a necessary sacrifice. Sometimes we have to sacrifice our dreams in pursuit of ensuring that others may see theirs. I simply no longer have time to run a business. I informed Trefles about the closing of TnT Industries as well. Without anyone keeping an eye on them they've been spending grant money on things that I can't say were made with good intentions. When I closed those doors I thought about Homura again. I hadn't thought about her in a long time. I wonder how she's doing. A fake marriage for her sake that no doubt ended up hurting more than helping. Why do you have this penchant for hurting those your try to help Toso? After all. When someone from cloud returned a previous kage during your genin days you snubbed them by offering them a chunnin title. Well of course you would! Who would want this? Day in and day out. Having risked your life over an over again wouldn't you want a title less demanding! You even tried to fix it and botched that to didn't you. Damage was already done. Damage. Fake Marriage. Maybe this is all deja vu. I'm doing the same thing to Homura to Kameyo. We have to make it right. I'll ask Kameyo out to nice dinner date the two of us...ah..after I settle some interrogations involving that now crippled Inuzuka and Puppeteer. I'll likely just erase their memories. Amnestic rehabilitation is less cruel that execution and they can try and live a better life from the ground up. Ah..starting ones life over. If so called gods exist then certainly reincarnation does as well I truly wonder how that would feel.

As I was looking through my entries I came across a page I did not remember writing. I don't know if someone else has found my journal but it means there may be a potential security risk. I..as it turns out was the one who wrote in the journal. I had believed that since the evil clone fiasco that all of this was long and done I suppose not. I am feeling. Scared. Since then I can feel like I've been forgetting things more often and over certain spans of time. I was always used to my certain personages and eccentricities assuming dominance without my realization over one another but this is something else. Even when that happens I later have realizations that my behaviors at those times could have either been too aggressive or questionable but now...now I don't what sort of behaviors I could have been displaying as I can't recount them. I've deferred to Sai-chan and even they are uncertain and when they said it was as if I was a different individual entirely...I..*the pages show slight signs of warping from liquid* I need to remain strong. Clearly. I'm known for my strong face and stoicism and what would the portrayal of a frightened kage to his people imply. Many call this village a mistake. After all I was ignorant that my scouting parties were failing to inform me of native grounds we were uprooting in Arashi's heyday but all of that's changed now. We are a village of progress. Progress means looking forward. As their Kage I must look forward an never back. I keep writing about the past in these entries but I need to stop that now. No good will come of it. I'm sure Kagerou will return soon. Until then we are an IRON SQUID.

~~Entry ?~~
I've found out a lot of things recently. I don't want to write them down. Perhaps its a good thing my memory is starting to fade. As terrified as I am of that happening the things I'v learned about Sato about what's to come. I'm filled with dread. I'm upset, sad, and confused all the the same time. What do I do? Leave the land of lightening to face its imminent invasion on its own? You promised these people a life free of these things...do you abandon your friends? I don't know Toso? Do you know Toso? I don't know Toso maybe we just let things play out whats the worse that can happen? The Yokai came here to be safe from the Samurai there is no safer place for them than here a place you designed for them.

~~ Entry? ~~
I don't know what to do anymore.

~~Entry?~~
I'm Tired.

~~Entry?~~
I don't understand what the book is trying to tell me.

~~Entry?~~
I got out of bed this morning.

~~Entry?~~
I want to help the world. I don't know how anymore. The world is a broken thing. I just wanted to fix it...

~~Entry?~~
Kagerou will be back soon. Until then I will try and understand the book. Maybe it has the answer. Maybe things will work out.

User ImageEnter from ⚡ || The Spire 2.0 [Kage's Office]

The walk back had been quiet, at least between the three women who had left the spire. Kagerou, taking quick, confident strides through the village and the medical center. As expected, she was harrassed upon entry and, following an apologetic smile to the two that had been polite enough to follow her up until this point, she briskly handled the affairs tossed her way without stopping pace. Take this matter to such and such. Use this and that room. She will review this case and share her findings by end of day tomorrow.

Only one person, a black haired, pale eyed male with a sour expression that appeared to be some sort of office admin/receptionist personnel, had the ability to stop her in her tracks with his bulleted list of nagging for the surgeon general's inexcusable absence from work. It was right in front of the door to her office, too. No, it wasn't okay even if she used her vacation days. No, a doctor shouldn't be taking such a long break. No, goddammit, she can't have tea with her friends while the goddamn village was literally in a state of crisis just a few minutes ago. To each "no," Kagerou smoothly refuted with a "yes" of her own, meeting James in the middle to each of the responsibilities he thrust at her. Responsibilities that were supposed to be hers to begin with. A brief, if rapid, back and forth between the fair finally released the harangued medic from the grips of the fierce general office admin and, though his scowl rang of one unsatisfied, he was convinced to rush on over to the next task he needed handling.

The way to her office, where the ladies could have a private discussion, finally open, Kagerou opened the door and invited the other two in to sit on any of the seats in the rather blandly normal room, before entering herself. To her visible surprise, there would be another guest within the office, an individual she did not recognize, but nonetheless greeted with a polite bow. There was a moment of silent exchange between the two as scarlet eyes surveyed the individual before her before deeming that its purpose here was for her.

A step forwards. The reception of a leatherbound tome. A hand gently caressing over the symbol on the cover and the ever so slight diminish of a smile, one that lasted only for a moment. "Thank you," the kunoichi smiled to Hagane, both hands holding the book like a precious object. She let the yokai leave before closing the door behind it and turning to the girls, the weight of the text she received heavy in her hands.

However, that text would have to wait for after this talk. Within the room, there was a small counter filled with tea stuffs and snacks, a low coffee table, two sofas on the long ends of the coffee table, two armchairs on the short ends, a large desk filled with neat stacks of paperwork, and something like a wooden podium/music stand to the side of the desk. Kagerou deposited the book upon this desk and sat in the chair behind it.

She was ready to start.

"Thank you for your patience. Lady Kameyo, I called you here so that I can properly answer any questions you may have had about your husband and the last moments I had with him before he... ran away." Kagerou spoke with gravity, and yet, there was unavoidable levity in the way she spoke and presented herself, from her ever-present smile to the gentle lilt that would fill her words, somberness was not something found easily in this bell-adorned doctor. "Shion, I thought you also had some right to here some of this, having gone so far as to sacrifice yourself for the Arashikage, and no doubt part of your reputation as well. As Toso-sama's friend, I am grateful you were there by his side to ensure his safety, from himself and from others, during the attack on Arashigakure. At the same time, I'm not blind to how such a choice may also be interpreted as a negligence of duties. That being said, I hope you do not hold it against me when I ask you to give us some privacy. There are some topics on Toso that I wish to speak to Lady Kameyo about in private."

Fingers tapped thoughtfully upon manila folders of each kage candidate, folders that had not been put away since Kagerou's last time in this office. To keep such sensitive information out was negligence on her part that she recognized only now, and to which she briefly closed her eyes in self-reflection as she also reflected on what she should say next.

She couldn't think of a right answer, so she would just say what she thought, "Before any questions, though, let me relate to you the general content of the conversation I had with our former Arashikage. Toso... left us. I won't sugar coat it. Consider it cruel. Consider it cowardly. I consider it necessary, but per Lord Kenshin, being kind is easy. Regardless, he has chosen to run away from the kage position. We all know how much of himself Toso sacrificed to lead, so I will keep it to one sentence. He cared too much to take care of himself as he led, all while wholly believing no one cared in him."

A breath to pause her thoughts and let her start afresh, before she drawled this conversation into a long-winded analysis Toso's psyche. Bells upon the green haired medic's wrist rang as she raised a hand to brush her hair aside. Despite having taken the form of a man, she still acted with all the cues and mannerisms of the feminine half of humanity.

"Toso left comparing himself to a child with too much power for his own good and surrendered his position and responsibilities as kage with that as his reason. As for where he would go next... I'm... sorry. I couldn't bring myself to stop him, nor to force him to give me a straight answer. I... am truly sorry, Lady Kameyo. And Shion. I want you to know... Toso may have not seemed to care at all, and perhaps he doesn't about himself, but... He kept tabs on your fight throughout our whole conversation and, from start to end, he wanted me to go to you and support you."

Kameyo did her best to keep her cool, but the hospital, like the conversation, was overly hygienic. The hyper-sanitization made things seem removed from reality. It also made her feel like she was being protected like a child. She couldn't outright say Kagerou was lying to her, but it felt like a game of half-truths. Though Kagerou's politeness was disarming as always but it made Kameyo's tendrils crawl. "There's nothing you should need to say to me that Shion can't hear. After all, we were all equally in the dark of the truth of his condition, weren't we? There's... well, there is no need for secrecy now. If he wanted to hide anything, he should have obscured them better before abandoning me." Her tone left no room for discussion on the matter, and already she felt like her stitches were threatening to burst. She was angry and confused and if she heard one more excuse in Toso's favor, she was going to lose her mind.

But something stuck out to her. "'Bring' yourself to stop him? So you had the opportunity and you didn't take it? And for what? Who did that help? Was it your medical education that informed that decision based on his declining mental health or was it your friendship that froze your hand? Friendship over duty? We don't know the nature of the possession that led him to leave the village - it could have been the Jashinists' corruption or something else entirely. Your negligence looks a lot like treason to me." She rose to her feet immediately. "I know we all ******** up and let him get to that point but I never would have sat on my hands and let him escape where even my sensory prowess can't reach. You made that choice to let him escape on behalf of all of us. How dare you."

Her tendrils were so erratic underneath her skin that she looked hardly human. She felt her stomach lurch and she couldn't bear to look so vulnerable as to vomit in front of the other two. Like in the Spire, she was sick of the conversation from one moment to the next. "You can leave any information with CORE or on the secretary's desk in the Spire. I'm not going to listen to this justification. Not now." With that, the clone dispersed.

SHION xxxxx MORI
The long walk, or maybe it was short -- who really knows, took what left like a lifetime. The entire time, Shion played the events from a few hours ago on loop in her head. She moved in to secure Toso, whether for good or ill, then the village was attacked, then she... she died. Then, Toso was gone. Constantly on loop, every move she made, every choice. There was nothing she could have done differently, and it killed her. Before she realized it, the trio had stopped, now speaking securely.

Shion looked to Kameyo, then to Kagerou. The instant she locked eyes with the woman's piercing, red gaze, Shion glanced away. She'd listen, uncharacteristically silent as the two ninja went back and forth about Toso. While Kameyo seemed to latch on to Kagerou's unwillingness to bring Toso in, a different phrase caught the ANBU captain's ear. He cared about her? Ha, how rich. Shion simply responded with a humorous huff of air. It wasn't until Kameyo left that Shion would say her piece. "Raikage Shiro Chosokabe: briefly took me on as student before abandoning me to pursue his own selfish ambitions. Arashikages Jay and Jeon Park: Took me on as a student and made me into CORE's finest ANBU agent... before dropping me to the wayside and leaving to die on some random mountain. Tosokurui Hojo: named me militant advisor... before telling me my appointment was merely ceremonial and that he would instead seek advise from the Traitor Emperor. Oh, also apparently abandoned me as I lay dying, defending him and his village from invaders." Shion kept her eyes off Kagerou; she knew the ninja was unnaturally acute at reading people. "I wonder how this new Kage will throw me to the wayside." A genuine laugh momentarily slipped past Shion's lips; she quickly stiffled it by biting her lip. "Whatever. Not like I have anything left to lose. Good soldiers follow orders, and I followed mine. What did it get me? Well, I'll tell you... A torched career path, maybe one friend in the entire village, and a hole in my belly the size of my arm." Finally, she'd look Kagerou in the eyes. Just beneath the surface of those blue and yellow heterochromatic orbs, she'd see a sea of confliction. Her loyalty to the village being turned against her, her supposed friend betraying her, her supposed boyfriend abandoning the Kage to go settle another matter across the village, leaving Arashi in a freefall with one less person to stop it, and Kagerou... someone she had just started to think of as a friend, letting Toso go. "I dont blame you, we all did what we thought was best. You made your choices, Tosokurui," she paused, using the former Kage's full name, rather than one of her many nicknames, "he made his... now I have to make mine." She'd then let that comment hang in the air for Kagerou to discern whatever she wanted from it.

User ImageKameyo's farewell left the green haired medic heavy of heart, but whether it was because she didn't desire to worry or show weakness to the one other in the room, she allowed herself little more than a blink that lasted just a little too long. A short reprieve in a moment of darkness before once more facing the one other left in the room.

She deserved it, she knew, which was another reason she smiled as if unbothered. As Kameyo had so succinctly put it while struggling to hold herself together, looking for all the world as if she was coming undone by the seams, Kagerou had been so weak as to let him go, making the decision alone. She would not have chosen differently, but it was nonetheless unfair, and offering information to Kameyo now would not make up for that at all. It was only... a way for her try and patch up the sacrifice she chose to make. Expedite the recovery of a wound she had created with her own decision.

Eyes of red remained fashioned upon blue and yellow throughout all of this, ears intently listening to the information Shion so graciously offered.

"Tosokurui Hojo... Hm... You will find the kage's each had their own motives and reasons for acting as they did, as any normal people would. So as to avoid appearing as if I was giving excuses for them, especially for ex-Arashikage, now-fugitive Toso, I will not delve into the topic. What matters here is that you feel like you've been abandoned, each individual you've placed your trust into adopting you into their trust, only to just as easily toss you to the wayside... And maybe you feel Toso was the worst of all. You ignored the pleas and emergency of an entire village for a dear friend. How were you repaid? Left to bleed on the floor dying while he walked way without so much as a farewell, much less a word of gratitude. The only words of comfort left given to you by some uncannily nice acquaintance of yours that claims he cared for your health while also defending him in the same breath."

Ever so carefully, Kagerou watched for the small movements, the twitches and raises, in the expression of the woman opposite her, reading to see if her analysis had been correct. This was not the way she preferred to approach such matters. Speculation always had a high chance of being wrong, and guess work could contaminate the thoughts of the other party.

"And then there's me... The person who took his side and let it pass... I know what I apologize for and that an apology means very little in the face of what I did. It is why I offer information, answers to questions. Not to justify my actions or repent, but because information is deserved and owed. He may never trust me again for it, but stubbornly forcing my respect of Toso's privacy now will only cause more hurt."

Turning her eyes aside, Kagerou pulled out a sheet of blank paper and, for the sake of expediency, used the ringing of her bells to create an aura of chakra about her hand that inscribed words upon the paper, spelling out details of how to contact her should information be desired or aid required in tracking down Toso. Once the short, business-toned message was written upon the plain white sheet, Kagerou deftly folded it into quarters. Quarters that she handed to Shion, the front of which was labeled "To Mrs. Kameyo and, per the former's permissions, Shion."

"'Now I have to make mine,' I do not know if those words mean that you already know the choice you will make or if you are still struggling over it. Will you let me know what the choice is? Or, if you have yet to figure it out, will you let me know in the future?".

"Obei not know. Look like end of attack if Ken-shun here." The way to the hospital was a quiet one. Obei would walk through the streets as people were slowly growing back to normal after the hysteria. People were tending to the wounded or reuniting with people while the seven foot tall oni made her way across while carrying the two wounded Academy students at a quickened pace. She was most worried about Saki's head wound as her cold soaked hand would continue to numb the pain for a bit. She had no experience with iyrojutsu and the one person that she knew did was absent. Obei had been longing to see Selina again, though assumed she was busy on an important mission or something. There was very little she could do about her disappearance and it was driving her insane for whatever reason. Her cold and icy heart felt like it could shatter at any moment, which was why the oni would rather stay busy than to just sit and think. They were bad thoughts. Very bad thoughts.

The doors to the hospital would open as Obei ducked underneath and carried the two inside. "We need medics. Kids hurt bad. Very bad." she said, pushing past the line of people to get Saki and Amaya some healing before it would be too late. Her inexperience had led to some very rash decisions, such as listening to the chorus of complaints from behind her as she huffed in annoyance. It took a lot of persuading and outright demanding at times as the air around her would grow colder during her tantrum. But evebtually the girls would be spared a bed in the same room. Obei sat down besides them as the doctors and medi-nin would tend to their wounds, not once leaving while she just watched in case either of the two would feel worried about what had happened. "Sah-Ki feel better? Ah-May-Yah?"

Obei was not sure what happened either, but she was not as far in the dark as Saki and Amaya. The exhausted girl did not know what or who "Ken-shun," was, but she took note of the name and remained quiet as they traveled through the streets. Ashen eyes watched the aftermath of the attack as people reunited and aided one another. The Nagadera wanted to go home, but would not make such a childish or selfish request. Head resting on Obei, she kept quiet and fondly watched over Saki to make sure her condition didn't change. Once in the hospital, Obei made quite the scene in order to get them taken care of. In a daze, Amaya couldn't process it quite yet, but as they found their way to a pair a beds and were treated, the student felt rejuvenated. "Sah-Ki feel better? Ah-May-Yah?" the oni asked both girls and finally the days events settled.

All Amaya could think of was Obei huffing in annoyance when they got to the hospital and a funny thought came to mind.
"*Snort*" The girl let out a strange noise as she turned her head away from the others to stifle a laugh. "I thought Obei-sama was going to turn into a centaur and charge the doctors," she said lightly as a joke, keeping her head turned away to hide her laughter. Once under control, she turned to the giant Oni and her fellow academy student. "I feel better. Its all because of you, Obei-sama and you, Saki-chan. Thank you for your help," Amaya spoke with deep gratitude, bowing her head to both in turn. Just as she raised her ivory crown, there was a knock on their door.

"Nagadera Amaya?" the nurse who poked her head in requested the little girl, motioning for her to come outside. With her leg treated and minor wounds nothing to keep her in bed, the child stepped out into the hallway. "Are my parents here?" she asked not being able to think of any other reason to be called away from her bed. However, the words the nurse answered with were sugarcoated with an explanation and vague details of what happened during the attack. However, the tone she carried with it... "Th...they're...dead?" she cut the woman short. The nurse confirmed it with a silent nod. What the woman said from there on fell deafly on Amaya's ears. It may seem she was an independent child who wasn't close to her parents, but she loved them and relied on them. She knew they were the foundation of who she was. Manners, open mindedness, diligence, organization, curiosity, the bloodline and so much more she couldn't comprehend as a child. Her mother was always there to ask what she had learned in her studies for the day. Her father always brought her books and notepads from his missions. They were dear to her and now...

The nurse asked too many questions about relatives, a place to stay, etc and Amaya just shook her head, battling the stinging sensation behind her eyes. Deciding that the child should go back in the room, Amaya was escorted to her bed. It was written all over her face that something was wrong and as the nurse was about to turn with an explanation, her dry mouth parted.
"Our village was attacked by Jashinists. Death cultists sacrificed Nagadera Jin and his wife Satomi to their god," she was in shock and her words held no malice. But as she spoke plainly, the stinging sensation finally gave way and tears started flowing down her round face. "They were my parents," she cried, knees hugged to her chest as she buried her face in her own lap. "My family left the Nagadera clan, because their religion was prejudice and hurtful. They didn't deserve to be murdered for some crazy belief system!" helplessness and anger suffocated her heart broken sobs as she gasped for breath. Body shaking and mind rattled from not knowing what to think or how to feel, she hugged her knees closer.

Arashigakure | Student

Most of the trip to the hospital was a blur for the wounded girl, she drifted in and out of consciousness before the trio finally arrived. By the time they arrived Saki was almost completely out of it, only vaguely registering Obei's desperate attempts to seek assistance for the children. The hospital was in a state of complete chaos after the attacks. Medical nin were stretched to the breaking point trying to manage all the victims of the cultists attack. Thankfully Obei managed to get the attention of some help and the girls were quickly treated. While Saki's head injury was concerning it was well within the ability of the hospital staff and easily handled. Though they did make a note of reminding that Saki needed to stay awake and monitored.

Saki was back to her quiet calm self, resting up as ordered but also trying to avoid being any further bother. "I'm okay now..." She muttered quietly when Obei asked how she was. The poor girl was utterly embarrassed at the trouble she had put everyone through worrying about her. She made a quiet resolution to herself that she would be ready for next time, never again would she be so helpless. Her uncle's warnings crossed her mind, how could they not? He had said she was wasting her time with this foolish fixation on becoming a shinobi. Maybe he was right, if she hadn't wasted her time going off to the academy, struggling with a whole new set of skills and philosophy who knows where she would be with her bukijutsu? Certainly stronger, maybe even strong enough to have been of some use in this attack.

Even as wrapped up in her own thoughts of inadequacy as Saki was Amaya's comment managed to illicit a smile and soft giggle from the girl. It succeeded in freeing her from those spiraling thoughts. There was only one thing she knew for sure, if she hadn't joined the academy she wouldn't have met Amaya and Obei. She was glad to hear that Amaya was feeling better but instantly became flustered when she was thanked.
"It was all Obei-sama! She saved both of us, after all I needed to be carried out of there!" She deflected as best she could before bowing her own head. As her head fell her hair barely moved it was so matted and stained with blood. Despite being out of the woods she still looked an absolute mess. "Thank you, Obei-sama! I don't know what would have happened if you didn't find us when you did..." Her voice trembled as dark thoughts filled the traumatized child's head again. Choking back tears she rubbed her eyes clear before they could overtake her. By the time she looked back up Amaya was already leaving the room with a nurse. That was odd, she thought Amaya was okay?

"Uhm... Obei-sama if there's ever anything I can do to repay you for helping us please don't hesitate to ask!" The overly formal girl bowed her head once again as she made the offer. Despite not really having an idea how she could possibly repay Obei she had to offer. In truth she wanted to ask more of Obei but that was entirely too selfish. Obei was amazingly strong, barely even phased by the devastation that had nearly ended Saki's life. She desperately wanted to be like Obei, if she had a sensei like her she would surely become strong enough to fight for her home. The thoughts running through her head caused her to fidget, though she dared not voice them. Instead, the poor girl sat awkwardly in silence until Amaya returned.

The hopes that Amaya could save Saki from her own awkwardness were dashed the moment she laid eyes upon her friend. Amya looked hollow when she entered, as if her soul had been sucked from her body and in a way it had. Saki was completely at a loss when Amaya broke down and revealed the loss of her parents. While she too was an orphan her parents died when she was too young to remember, not only that but they were shinobi that died in service to their village. This situation was entirely different, senseless murder of people in their own homes. What could she possibly do to make sense of that? There was absolutely nothing she could do to help. Still, she couldn't leave her friend there crying in a heap on the floor. Saki rushed over to Amaya's side, wrapping her hands tightly around her. She didn't say anything, merely hugged her friend as she felt her own tears coming. It was too much for any child to handle. After a good long while she finally broke the silence.
" I'm here for you... You'll come stay with me and my uncle. We couldn't do anything to help and we can't change that but we can make sure it never happens again. We're the same now and we'll get stronger together. Never again, I promise."

Both of the girls would be resting on her body, a sensation that Obei would still be completely new to. She wondered if this was how mothers felt, carrying around their children as she went about worrying over them. She'd keep her distance as the doctors worked their magic. Though expression was the sullen expression, the oni would be upset about the condition of both girls. She had felt Saki's head gently sliding down her head down her arm as her consciousness waivered. The room was crowded with the sound of footsteps and the many nurses helping the two Genin with their injuries. She would remain seated, her arms crossed as her bare hands would remain seen for all to see. Her gauntlets would rest below on the ground, Obei noticing one of the nurses' having caught sight of her sore piece. "Oh, did the attack give you those injuries, miss? We can have the doctors take a-" Obei pursed her lips as she looked down at her limbs and then back up towards the curious nurse. She couldn't be too hard on the medical expert. Triage was being performed and her analytic mind had spotted something wrong on her person. "Obei fine." she said quietly, holding it out for the nurse. The room's temperature would drain with them stretched outwards, taking a few of those watching by surprise as she reached down to grab her gauntlets again to cover the limbs. With her little example given, she'd look back to the beds to check on the two. The woman would slowly back away and focus her efforts elsewhere as Obei awaited her chance to see the two.

Upon seeing Saki and Amaya in good health, Obei let out a sigh of relief. She smirked a bit underneath her massive collar at the two of them thanking her for her service. "It okay. Obei glad to see Ah-May-Yah and Sah-Kee are safe. Obei feel better now."

Another nurse would stick her head into the door and motion for Amaya to step outside for a moment while the oni watched in confusion. Was she being tested for something? The girl moved out carefully after her leg injury while Obei and Saki waited back inside of the room. Obei looked back at the smaller girl as she awaited the other girl to come back. It only took a minute or so for her to catch onto what had happened as she would curl her legs up and sulk to herself at her parents' untimely demise. Saki would rush over to her friend and comfort her in a move that caused Obei to gently wrap her arms around both girls as her head pressed beside the girl's. "Obei help too. Have room in village that Ah-May-Yah can stay if want. Sah-Kee have better place though. We take care of you." she smiled at Amaya. "We family now."

In her darkest hours as an Arashigakure child, Amaya was surrounded with layers of love. One small embrace by a big heart was wrapped in another embrace by giant heart. Their support lulled her into comfort. Trembling ceased and chaotic sobs silenced, but Amaya's tears kept flowing. It was hard for her to truly understand what the others were saying, but their sympathy gave her solace. The fact Saki said they were the same and they'd get stronger together meant she had someone who would walk beside her.Head rising, she nodded while her arm moved to Saki's back returning a weak yet deeply appreciative hug. Obei's words brought her full circle, stating they were family now. Her other hand reached out, tiny fingers wrapping around a single finger of the Oni's gauntlet. "Mwm," Amaya choked as she tried to speak, but only managed a broken murmur as tears kept rolling down her face.

Filled with innocence, curiosity and vulnerability, Amaya was lucky to have these two by her side at the time of the attack. Taking both their words to heart, filling the hole left by her parents, negative emotions were kept at bay. Enjoying the hug until she could get her tears under control, the ashen-eyed child as able to sit with her shoulders back and chin up. Tissues wiping away the mess on her face, she took several deep breaths.
"Thank you," she said to the two of them, her head still buzzing but feeling stable after being hit with the critical news. The best thing she could do was write. An avid note taker, Amaya found consolation in her notes but... Looking around the room as if she had misplaced something, Amaya realized her journal of notes was missing. "Where's my..." she whispered, not being able to fully explain her sense of feeling lost, but maybe Saki could.
