Theo moved into the hatch with the pack, sticking close to the wall once he had descended.
When he saw the chipmunk, he sighed. He was fine with this place being some rainy alternate universe, but why was it solely populated by talking rodents? The very short film they had watched upstairs suggested otherwise, but he had seen no real evidence that anything bigger than a bread box actually made its home here. The mannequins seemed sentient enough, but he couldn't picture them spending time with their families after a long day of movie-watching.
Where was that Chris guy when you needed him? Maybe he just hadn't gotten around to mentioning that Other Ashdown was actually dark Zootopia.
In the absence of any visible weapons, Theo curled his fingers into fists once more and continued to watch.

"I am! You guys found me! I thought I would never get out," it replied to Temperance, watching as she and Juniper both seemed to look for the latch to the cage. "Of course I can talk. You talk, don't you?" Then Shun started to warn them and the chipmunk turned it's focus to him. It's tail swished as fingers found the latch of the cage. "They did catch me. I don't know why. I was just trying to get home," he replied earnestly. "Got lost here and the glowy people things found me and brought me here and then-" If it could have shrunk down smaller, it might have. Instead it curled into a small ball briefly. "I don't know. I can't remember. I woke up and was in here." For all that the latch on the cage looked simple, when Juniper tried to open it, it did not move at all. It was not so simple as just opening the cage.

The appearance of Connor appeared to confirm that he was okay and Chris smiled, it turning a little awkward at the compliment and a light blush spreading on his cheeks. "It's just.. magic. It exists here," He said a little amused, smile more dopey now. It was the only explanation he had really, but it worked enough for him and everyone he knew.
"Oh, yeah," Chris said, turning to see the group on the stage move into... a trapdoor? He frowned but scooted out of the aisle, moving quickly to climb back onto the stage and then, making sure Connor was following or at least not being eaten by something, dropped down into the trapdoor.
The room underneath the stage was weird, but everyone seemed to be crowded around a cage of some type and he walked up to get a better look, peering over mostly everyone the best he could. Whatever was in the cage could talk, which was about the most information he knew.
"Who's this?" He asked in general, "Didn't mean to miss the excitement, just helped fix some eyes."

Fumbling for the latch, Juniper continued to question the little guy. "What are the glowy people? Have they hurt you at all?" She felt bad for him, especially as he curled his little self into a ball. Damn creature knew how to pull at her heart strings. Juniper huffed at the latch. "It's not moving. It's stuck or jammed or something. Strange though, cause it doesn't look like it should be stuck." She announced, just as Chris made an appearance in the room. "Well, don't know if you hear the mysterious voice we've been hearing and talking to? Turns out it's this little fella here. He said there were glowy people who trapped him here when he was trying to get home." Gesturing to the cage, she looked in on the talking Chipmunk. "I can't get him out though." She sighed, looking at the cage a bit more in hopes of finding some other way of opening it up. "I don't think trying to break it would be safe for our little friend."

Shun wasn't sure what to make of the chipmunk. He couldn't tell if it was being genuine, or if this was all a facade. Not that it mattered much, seeing how others were determined to free it nonetheless. And so he let them try and do just that. In the meantime, he moved over towards the door, trying to see if he could open it. He had a feeling it was going to be locked.

Lily followed behind the rest of the group, passively assessing and making a scrunched up face that might have been judgement. She wasn't a fan of the fake rocks, or mannequins that gave her the creeps, and all of this was felt over the incessant thrum behind her eyes that said ' Climb, get smaller, hide away.' In her own way, she did hide away, scrunching her shoulders and veering more towards the back of the group. But though her instincts screeched at the idea of climbing down, that's precisely what she did, after a moment of hesitance and following the others. She caught sight of the chipmunk with a glance of initial optimism, followed by rolling her eyes the moment it began to speak. "Okay, that's just cheating," she said dourly, looking down at the cage from under a heavy set of bangs. Crossing her arms, she stood by passively as others tried to pry open the cage, but when they had no luck she coughed softly, preparing to speak up. "Maybe it's all about the power of intent or a 'with our hearts combined' kind of thing," she offered to Temperance and Juniper, before looking at the chipmunk themselves. "You got any ideas how this works, Speaks With Humans?"

The room door and cage door seemed to behave similarly. The latch (and knob) slid and turned but attempting to pull them open met with no results. To call it resistance would be wrong- they just didn't open. The chipmunk pulled its small paws over it's head and ears a moment, "The glowy people things! With the funny uniforms!" To Chris's question it turned to look at him, "My name is-" It seemed to think hard, "-things are coming back a little.." It curled a little more on itself before exclaiming, "I'm Dee!" It seemed to look a bit intimidated by all the people crowding around the cage, eyes darting between those talking, "Yeah, between all of you... I think you can open it. You just have to really want it!"

What kind of kokoro anime bullshit was this, Temperance wondered. But if this was how magic worked here, she'd roll with it. Maybe Lily had a point. "Dee, I want to get you out; I promised I would." She smiled down at the little chipmunk.
"Maybe if, um, everyone touches the cage and wills it - it'll open? Is that how things work here?" She watched as Juniper inspected the cage further. "If all else fails, we haul the cage out of here until we figure it out," she said decisively. Temperance had no clue who the 'glowy people with funny uniforms' could be - and, very likely, they might even look different to her human eyes as opposed to chipmunk's.

No go on the door, just as he thought. Taking a step back, he paused and glanced back to the cage. A similar thought had come to mind... given how he wasn't able to overpower the force keeping them here with his own will.
"So we all need to will this s**t to happen," he deadpanned.
It sounded incredibly corny.

Al reached down to pick up the package that had fallen from the vending machine. He frowned at the bit of wrapping then ripped it open and allowed the odd, Other Ashdown treats to drop onto the rough palm of his hand. He narrowed his eyes as he leaned in to inspect them. "Why d'ya think these things are here?" He'd passively ignored the talking rodent, and had observed the attempts at both the unlatching of the cage and the stuck door. Once again, they had reached what seemed to be a dead end. anyone that wants to answer his question lol

"That'll work!" he chirped at Temperance. "Will has meaning here! Together you're stronger than on your own! Just touch it and think open and it should do so!" There may have been a brief glance to both Theo and Alister from Dee but ultimately he was focused on both Juniper and Temperance, though Shun also came into his notice. "If you do that then I can help you get out of here! We can run away from the glowy people things!" Quote: to open the cage up, at least four people will need to touch the cage and, as dee has instructed (as temperance pointed out <3), think OPEN!

"We've got to will it open?" Ok that sounded like something out of a children's fairy tale book. Or maybe more like Captain Planet With our powers combined... she grinned at her own joke but didn't quite feel like sharing with the group. "Well, that's certainly...well...interesting." She glanced at the others around the room and had a distinct feeling that a few of them were not at all interested in freeing their fluffy, adorable, bushy-tailed acquaintance. And, as if to prove her point, Shun and Theo made comments towards the requested action. "Hey, look, I know we may not all...like out talking rodent, but what else do we have to do? Maybe freeing...Dee was it?" She paused to look at the Chipmunk before continuing "Maybe freeing Dee will help us out in the end. "Come on, what could it hurt? Otherwise we can just climb back upstairs and sit in the theatre doing nothing again." She shrugged and placed a hand on the latch again. She gave everyone a look before closing her eyes to uh...to uh concentrate and -will- the latch open.God, it felt incredibly strange to do.

"It's not a game," Temperance said, tossing her hair back to look at Theo. "It's all kind of magic here, and unless you've got a better idea... I guess this is certainly better than nothing. Spatial range likely has an effect." She kept her hand on the cage and chanted 'open open open' in her mind. Juniper was at least being less of a ninny here than upstairs; Temperance couldn't keep a grudge forever (it was just too stressful, although she usually lasted a few months). "Wait." Temperance peered down at the little chipmunk. "You, too, okay? Help us think open - forces from both sides and all that."

Acacia still couldn't get over how ridiculous this was. As soon as she'd seen the chipmunk and heard him speak, she'd had to hang back and lift a hand to her mouth just to keep from the sudden, near hysterical urge to laugh. She'd been on her way to believing that this wasn't just a dream, but now she wasn't quite so sure anymore because this seemed more like some kind of cartoon she might have watched with her brother as a kid.
Silly and strange or not, though, it still seemed it was the only way forward. "I'm willing to give it a try. Might as well." She made her way over to the cage alongside Juniper and Temperance, then lifted her hand to it with another glance down at Dee. "Just think open, right?" Tilting her head a little, she did just that and tried to imagine the cage opening in response.
