Not as impressive as the first few hits, but definitely a lot better than he'd been able to manage when he was level seven. Of course, he was now level thirteen. Sooo... That was pretty par for the course. He could do this all day, couldn't he? Just farm the Queen until he'd gotten enough hearts to raise his little pet to adulthood. And then let her murder everything. He might even obsolete himself. That would be the best way to carry on the Gloomweave name, right? Just breed a Queen that was completely unstoppable, even by its creator. What could possibly go wrong with that? He was getting off track. What was he doing? Oh, yeah. Gloomqueen. That's right. Battle start! It's already halfway over? Oh. That explains a lot.

The Queen was still raging. Alyx couldn't imagine why she was so angry. He'd just murdered her children, slaughtered her, killed more of her children, subjugated her, and then cleaned up the remaining kids and topped all that off with offing her King and devouring his soul. This level of anger seemed fairly disproportionate to all that. "I understand that you're upset, but I think you're taking this a little too far. I mean what have I really done to earn this level of disdain from you?" It was totally out of left field that she thought this little about him. He'd have to fix that. With the liberal application of candy, he supposed. Do spiders even like candy? Apparently.

The Queen had finally started to see reason, and Alyx was taking the opportunity to ram his beliefs down her throat. She was almost done eating. Which is good, because Alyx' buffs were starting to wear off. He just had to count on his abilities to carry him through to the finish line in record time. If he was able to dispatch the Queen at this rate, he might even come back and tame her a few more times before he was ready to start raising his new pet. He wanted to give her the best possible start, though, and that meant that he might need to do this a few more times, at least, to get the perfect heart for his purposes.

Finally in the home stretch. The Queen seemed to be calming down, and her attacks were losing their intent. Less than twenty percent remaining before her friendship was secured, and Alyx could harvest her Heart. He'd had really horrible luck with beastmaster loot, though, so he wasn't ready to put all of his hopes into this particular harvest. Still; he needed this Heart, and he might have to work for it. It would be worth it, he thought, to have a perfect Gloomweave Queen Heart to start from. He owed it to his namesake to give the Gloomcourt as strong a start as he could. He wanted to honor the final request of the Gloomking, if he could. The Gloomking hadn't turned out to be all that bad a guy.

He'd seemed to have lost a bit of his own punch. His buff was wearing off; maybe it was weakening. He had another Brew, but he was so close to finishing this fight that he didn't feel like spending that money for what would only be a few seconds of advantage. He was more than capable of handling the Queen without the addition of that buff, especially since he had this overpowered bait. He was going to be certain to stock up on these supplies, though: they would prove to be infinitely valuable in the coming months. Especially the Brews and Bonfires. Being able to buff combat skills to that extreme is an unbelievable advantage, and he needed to capitalize on that advantage while he could.

He was so close. One or two more hits and she would be defeated. And in record time. If this was the speed at which he could tame the Gloomqueen, he was terrified to find out how quickly he could just kill her. Murder was, of course, what Alyx was best at, so he could probably knife this monster in just a minute or so, even without buffs. He wished that he had a way to deal damage over time to this breed of enemy, but he was not willing to switch over to a curved weapon just for bleed damage. He was also not keen on slaughtering enough boars to get the equipment he would need to really capitalize on bleed damage the way that he did with poison.

The Queen rallied for one last attack, and managed to scratch Alyx with her final attempt, but she did not manage to resist Alyx' commands to calm down any longer. The Queen stood before him, blue light beginning to consume her body. Alyx reached up to pet her softly before she burst into a shower of blue shards. The regicidal Gloomking took a breath and smiled. Record time. This might be the fastest anyone had ever defeated the Gloomqueen. He was becoming an unstoppable force. At least on the first floor. He wondered what kind of challenges waited on the higher floors, and how much power he would need to gain to be able to endure them.

It was time to begin the process of building up Rota's chosen blade. To this end, he went into the weapon smith's forge to borrow the anvil. he wouldn't need anything else. He began by placing the weak THSS he had made so long ago on the anvil and began to beat it to hell with the hammer he had. This was not to shape the weapon, but to destroy it. He needed to weaken the blade to make the next part more hospitable. Fragments of light began sharding off of the sword, almost piteously. He minorly hated to do it, but it was a necessary evil. After the blade was significantly cracked, he pulled out the sword he began his adventures with. using a vice, he kept the cracked blade in place, and swung his original sword downwards onto the flat of the blade, snapping it in half. Light poured out of the blade until the whole sword erupted into shards of green light. The shards hovered in place for a second before the wreathed themselves around the blade that had felled them. It glowed for a few moments before returning to its original look, if not a little more shiny. He had been taught this technique for enhancing weapons a long time ago by his father, and had only just lately remembered how it was performed.

Rota was glad that his father's methods were working. next to go into the vice was the weapon he had just upgraded. Now that he knew it worked, he was ready to implement his father's technique even further. He began wailing on his now enhanced original blade. While he did, he thought back to his father's lecture on the subject of enhancing weapons.

It seems that all things, even weapons and armor, are made of light. Depending on the intent when certain actions are done to entities of light, it has different effects. If one destroys a weapon or material with the intent of enhancing another weapon or piece of armor, the light that pours out is green. Green signifies development, expansion, and life. This can only be accomplished in low tension situations.

Snapping back to the present, Rota switched over to an OHSS. This was a strategic decision. while he would love to pump THSS' into each other all day, OHSS' were easier to upgrade using ingots, and that was where his strategy came into play. He thrust the OHSS downward into the flat of the original sword, piercing it through. It exploded into green shards as the one before did, and swarmed the OHSS that destroyed it. after a few moments, the OHSS was once more able to be seen.

Excellent. The process was still proceeding as planned. Rota next put a Strong ingot into the vice and began beating it with his hammer.

When Green light pours out, the implement used to destroy them become enshrouded in this enhancing light. When it dissipates, the light will have been fully absorbed into the destroyer. The rare exception is shields, which in those cases the light must be extracted with a hammer for the duration. by placing the shield that you want to enhance underneath the one being sacrificed, it shifts the priority from the hammer onto a comparable host. However, everything has a limit to how much light it can absorb. Eventually any host will fill with too much light and not be able to retain any more. However, this is not the end for these hosts. These hosts are prime candidates to pass on to other hosts, as they carry the legacies of all light pumped into them.

It was finally time to break this ingot, and with a horizontal flick of the sword, the ingot was cut in half. its green light floated in the air briefly before rushing to the OHSS, surrounding it temporarily before it was absorbed into the sword.

Rota placed another Strong Ingot in the vice. this was very important to continue doing. As he beat on the ingot, he was glad that his father's teachings were coming back to him. He missed his father greatly, and this was a good way to remember him.

Now, the reason why when one sunders a weapon or piece of armor in combat is different than destroying them in this way is because that action is a violent action against an entity of light. Such actions take the form of Red light. Red signifies destruction, violence, and death. Such light cannot conventionally be absorbed by a weapon. I will not say that it is impossible to do, but I shudder at the person who actually manages to do it. Such a weapon would be difficult to beat. In any case, this is why everything shatters into red shards when destroyed or killed.They are releasing not only their negativity, but also the negativity force upon them. So why then do sacrificed objects become Green light? It is because instead of being destroyed against their will and out of malice, they are giving their light willingly for the betterment of a host. Some argue that if this philosophy was true, then the light shouldn't be Green, but Blue.

The ingot was ready to give its light to the sword. He made a quick flick of the blade and cut the ingot cleanly in two, shattering it into green light. Again the light hung in place, and then remembered its purpose, surrounding the sword and absorbing into it.

Another ingot down, he placed a third in the vice. By his count he would be able to use a few more of his above average ingots to buff up this weapon before it was time to sacrifice it too. it was an unfortunate reality, but one that needed to be realized. He began to beat the hell into the Strong ingot to soften it up for the sword.

So, what does blue mean in this context? Blue represents unity, brotherhood, and peace. One of the few professions that take advantage of that spectrum are Beastmasters, and to some extent Lightforgers since they work with light as a whole. Like Red light, I am unsure if this light could be harnessed into weapons. If it could, it would be a breakthrough in the trade and take the whole thing by storm. There only remain a few other dominant colors of light that entities can produce, but you will encounter them in due time.

The ingot seemed to be just about ready. Rota grabbed the sword again and sliced the ingot in half. the green shards exploded from the ingot and enveloped the sword before being absorbed into it proper. he was making good time. not too much longer and he could pump this sword into the next one.

Rota was down to his last Strong ingot. It didn't bother him, this was what they were made to do. Besides, he could always make more. his material supply did him literally no good if they just sat around collecting dust. He placed the last strong ingot in the vice, and started in on it with his hammer.


So impatient you are. Fine. I will tell you of more variations of light. You should already know most of this by now you brat. Don't you pay attention when people *blah blah blah*? The next color I will cover is purple.Purple represents ingenuity, and creation. All things that can be made, except for food, come from purple light. This includes ingots, weapons, walls, alchemy, you name it. Materials themselves will give off bits of purple light when harvested to show their potential.Purple often coincides with other colors, but is very much its own category.


It was time to finish up this ingot. Rota grabbed the sword and sliced the material clean in two with one fluid swing, green shards trailing off the blade and tracing the trajectory of the slash before absorbing into the blade. it was now time to branch out to other ingots, and Rota had just the ones in mind.

Rota decided to move on to Durable ingots for the last few sacrifices. It would be important to enhance that property as much as possible moving into the future. He put the ingot in the vice, and prepared for a bit more of an ordeal this time. Being an ingot notable for its durability, it would likely require a little more effort to weaken down. He began to best the ingot with his hammer.

So, if cooking is exempt from the classification under Purple light, then what color in the spectrum does it apply to? It happens to fall under orange. Orange represents sustenance. Anything that can be consumed as food falls under this category. It may not be the most poignant of the colors of light, but it is one of the most important as just about everything eats. Unfortunately, purple takes priority so if anything that can be used to cook can also be used for another purpose it will only spark purple.In this way, being a cook is one of the more difficult professions. Less guarantees on products.

Rota had finally work down the ingot enough. it was VERY determined no to break easily, but he worked his charm and it eventually listened to reason. He grabbed the OHSS again and stabbed through the ingot. The green shards exploded towards the demon artisan, and then swarmed the blade before absorbing into it like the others had before.

Rota pulled out another durable ingot. it felt like the sword was almost full. Maybe two more and he would need to continue the cycle of sacrifice. He was waiting patiently, considering that his chosen weapon was finally going to get an upgrade. He placed the ingot in the vice, and began to try and break it down.

There is one final color that is confirmed to exist, but few ever get the honor of seeing it. Yellow.Yellow represents power, authority, and superiority. The only time it has ever been seen is when these godlike entities use it. To my knowledge, common folk cannot posses such light.Again, any blacksmith that COULD harness yellow light would be unparalleled.Until then it is just for the gods to use.

Rota had finished with the durable ingot and so he picked up the OHSS again. stabbing it through, the green light swirled around the blade before eventually bonding itself to it as they all had.
