Calvin truly couldn't believe how handily Ryoka won the battle with that Cresselia. Calvin expected so much more out of the Pokémon itself, but the trainer definitely went in a little over confident and was outclassed. Calvin didn't do anything special though, opting for Brute force before using tactical moves. Although, Calvin did use Dragonbreath for the chance of paralysis, which succeeded, but beyond that, it was brute force. The trainer hadn't expected to be beaten as badly either, a glum look on his face. "I can't believe I lost. It can't be...you had to cheat to beat Cresselia," the man said, adopting an accusatory tone. Calvin just shook his head and stood there for a few moments.
"Rarity doesn't decide power. I won...get over it," he said bluntly, shaking his head and walking away. He refused to allow this man to take away from the accomplishment he felt by defeating one of the most rare Pokémon of any region. Ryoka stood up and delivered when it counted. So, without even a farewell, he walked away from the man, who was still extremely astounded that he was defeated.

As he got back to camp, he couldn't help but remove the bandages from his face to reveal a large smile towards Ryoka the Salamence. She handled herself amazingly and his father and her original trainer would be so proud to see the battle. He was hoping that maybe his father was up their somewhere looking down at them. If he saw that battle, surely he would be excited. "Good job Ryoka. Way to show that Pokémon who is boss," he said with a strong sense of accomplishment. Ryoka roared in approval, the Pokémon obviously giddy because of the fact that it defeated a Pokémon that was thought to be all powerful.
"I'm proud of each and every one of you guys. You guys are taking your training seriously and it is showing," he said to each of them, a bit proud. Their adventure had just begun together, but he definitely knew that unlike his uncle's, this adventure would not end in disappointment.

Now that the accusatory man was gone, probably off to the Pokémon center, Calvin went back to the clearing in which they battled. He had Victoria follow so he could treat the wounds in which she harbored with the Potions in his bag. She didn't take too much damage, but no matter how much damage she took, she deserved a rest for the night. So, just in case of a wild Pokémon attack, he had Marcella come to the clearing as well. Both Pokémon stood on his shoulders, exchanging what seemed like conversation amongst themselves. As much as he hated that he did not understand his Pokémon, it was okay, because he would learn how to tell what they were trying to say. Usually their facial expressions gave it away.
Calvin was glad that he brought Marcella along with them to the clearing...because just as he thought things began to calm a bit, a Pokémon came out to attack them. Calvin sat down while he treated Victoria, but knew that he was to command Marcella at the same time.

Calvin watched a Poochyena emerge from the brush, looking as if it was about to attack. But, around its leg was a less-than-subtle glow in which Calvin instantly recognized. It was unmistakable...there was a Pokémon around Poochyena's leg and that Pokémon was a Klow. It took a few moments for it to hit him as well. 'Nimbrous! That's the answer to my ice type problem. And it can learn steel type moves to add type coverage against fairies.' He was much more afraid of the powerful ice-type moves. Ice beam and Blizzard would just about end his entire party; so naturally, he needed a Pokémon that could withstand it. Marcella the torchic would do well in a fight with an ice-type and a fairy type, but he needed another...and that was where Klow would fit in.
He was elated that he may have found the last piece of the puzzle in which he could fill. Calvin, when he was a young boy, encountered a Nimbrous. It wasn't close, but he remembered seeing it. The grace of its flying technique...everything. "Marcella...we need to fight the Poochyena. But be careful. I need the Klow that is on its leg," he said to her, the Pokémon nodding as it turned to fight.

Poochyena is successfully defeated and scuttles back into the forest, the klow unwrapping itself from around the poochyena's ankle. And instantly flying around in happy glee that the predator was thwarted! Marcella wins the battle and gains 2 exp!

Calvin watched in amazement as the Klow began to dance around. Seeing that Petalburg had the ocean on the one side and a lake in the city as well. It was a very good place for klow to thrive because of the presence of water. However, it was not nearly as good as the forest surrounding Fortree however. There were a multitude of Klow located there and Calvin remember staying up just to watch them light the forest up with their gleams. Seeing the Klow now just made him reminisce on his own childhood...when innocence was the only thing that could describe him. It truly was an amazing time of his life and maybe taking a klow for himself would allow him remind himself of time where the sun did shine brightly for him.
But, before he decided, one of the little klows came and wrapped itself around his wrist playfully. It was practically begging him to catch it. But, he did wonder if the little guy was only playing. So, he decided to put a Pokéball next to it and let it decide what it wanted to do. And surely enough, the Pokémon touched the center of the ball and caught itself. Now that he had the Klow, he wondered if he was going to send Maverick to stay with his mother yet. But, he thought that it would be best to wait until the end of the second gym. Maverick had a supreme type advantage on the gym; so naturally he will do well.

For the time being, Calvin sent the Klow to the box. He needed Maverick for his second gym battle; so he would keep him with him. But, he knew that he would be sending Maverick to provide his own mother the company when the time came. Maverick was timid and wasn't a big fan of battling. So naturally, Calvin didn't want to force that nature on him if it wasn't preference. Torchic was the same way, but it had done so much battling that the Pokémon was breaking through its timid shell and was growing. The same could not be said about Pidgeot.
He called all of his Pokémon into the grove to watch the klow light up the sky. None of his Pokémon were a predator of klow, besides Maverick, whom he called back into his Pokéball because it could threaten the little guys. He loved Klow and there was no way he was letting any of them get eaten by his own Pokémon.

The night went on and all of his Pokémon had started to rest. The full moon was out yet again, the moon's gleam shining like some sort of fairytale. Despite the beauty of it, the night was bone-chilling and it was extremely hard to stay out of the sleeping bag he was in. He called back most of his Pokémon besides Ryujin and Victoria, mostly because the two never allow themselves be put in the Pokéballs. For that reason, the three of them were close, Lupup in the center of the human and the Gallade. She needed as much warmth as she possibly could get, given her size, and what better than to sit between a human and a dragon...right?
"You two alright?" he asked quickly, Lupup responding with a quick bark, followed by a bit of a whimper.
"She's alright...and so am I. Don't worry," Ryujin said, but the Pokémon itself was actually shivering.
"I can see you shivering Ryujin. You don't have to act tough. Remember, I can feel what you feel and vice versa," Calvin responded to him with a chuckle.
"Curse psychic connections," the Pokémon responded, almost laughing.

They were all still awake and still trying to fall asleep. It was actually insane how cold it was. They had a campfire going, but it was about to go out and none of the three of them actually wanted to go out and get more firewood. Of course, Calvin would be the one that volunteered to do it. And he got up from his spot, leaving Victoria and Ryujin there to lay down. But, as soon as he got up and moved about twenty meters into the darkness, he was ganged up on by two Pokémon. One of them even hit him pretty hard, knocking him down to the ground. Well...here came Ryujin and Lupup, barreling down to try and protect its trainer. "Ugh, thanks."

Victoria and Ryujin must have very superior eyesight to his because he could not see a single thing but the campfire out in the distance. The Pokémon somehow were able to aim there attacks upon his command and be able to hit perfectly. It was truly impressive. With all of the excitement, he almost forgot about the cold. It didn't take long for him to become well acquainted with it however. He took a breath in and then out, his breath obviously visible. He really hoped that he didn't get sick, because that would mean he'd have to delay his trip to Dewford yet again, and he really didn't want that to happen. This was mainly because of the fact that he'd been in Petalburg for so long he was getting bored of it.

Calvin came back with some branches to put on the fire which had been dwindling when he got back. But fortunately it did not completely go out and it had arisen again upon placing more wood in the midst of the flames. Calvin and his two Pokémon both laid down back under the sleeping bag together. And slowly they drifted to sleep. Calvin after about thirty minutes was the last one to drift away into the grips of sleep. He hoped that they would get to go to Dewford the next day, for he grew tired of little ol' Petalburg. It was a great place, but Calvin was never one to stay in one place.

His eyes shot open and the warmth of the sun was now beating down on him and without a doubt the best part of it was the fact that he was not sick. This was it...this was the morning in which he got to depart for Dewford Town...or just depart Petalburg in general. He did have to go back to the professor to show him his findings on the Cresselia that he encountered from that undeserving trainer that he battled. How that man caught Cresselia was beyond him, but hey, maybe it was a ditto? He certainly hoped not. But, it did fool his Pokédex so it had to be the real thing correct?
Ryujin and Victoria were already up and walking about, most likely in search of some berries. Calvin himself started breakfast for all of them, in hopes that right after he was done they could leave Petalburg. Their destination has yet to be decided, but he was just happy that they weren't going to be stuck there for much longer.

After breakfast was done, he called each of his Pokémon out of their Pokéballs and fed them. He pet each of them on the head before putting their food down on the ground happily. They were certainly lucky that they did not need to sit out in the cold like Ryujin and Victoria had. He did wonder what it was like to be in a Pokéball, but didn't really need to know what happened. He'd never done enough research to find out nor did he need to. He'd much rather keep them out of the ball by his side if the locale permits it. Last night was the exception of course, for it was way too cold for his Pokémon to handle. If it were up to him, Ryujin and Victoria wouldn't have been out of the ball either, but they persisted.
As they ate, each Pokémon seemed very happy. They seemed to be glad that they were leaving. Well...except Maverick, mainly because the Pokémon was too shy to really show its feelings to anyone besides Calvin. Calvin's party had grown so fast that it might've been feeling a bit down. The poor Pokémon wouldn't have to feel that way for much longer. He was going to send the Pokémon to Fortree very soon to live with his mother. He was sure both Maverick and his mother would enjoy it, mainly because she could use him as a messenger Pokémon.

Calvin summoned his Pokémon back into their respective balls. Calvin had to clean up the camp before they left. He enlisted Ryujin and Victoria to help him do so by breaking down the tent and scattering any of the remnants from the campfire while Calvin went to the river to clean all of the pots and pans as well as his own bandages. It took a lot of tough scrubbing to get everything off unfortunately so it would take awhile.
He was delighted when he got back to camp to see that Ryujin and Victoria actually cleaned most of it up. He nodded in thanks, glad to see that even Victoria was warming up to him. After the way he's been treating her the last couple of days maybe she decided that he wanted what was best for her and not himself. He'd throw himself in front of an attack for his Pokémon any day. It was not his right to have the Pokémon he had, it was a privilege. And he treated it as such. "So before we go, we're going to go to the Pokémon center to make sure everyone is full strength. Then I have to go to the store to restock on the food y'all have eaten during the past week. Then we can go," he said to Ryujin before packing up his camping supplies in his bag.
