{ THE CORRIDOR OF MADNESS }

It was strangely still in the corridor. Taima realized that she hadn't seen a single person since entering the tower. Where were all of the other "interns?" And hadn't there been Horsemen and humans clustered at the base of the tower? This was certainly a mystery to be pondered--elsewhere.

[Area 7 -> Area 10]

There was a light sigh from "Mimi". "I don't think stopping in the middle is a good idea, Shu, you need to move." The trainee noticed that her shy cute friend was acting a bit weird than usual, but she wouldn't explain what. "But I can't leave you here, let's go Mimi, take my hand." Shu reached out her hand to the front where the voice seemed to come from but there was again no one there. "Mimi, please, don't play. Don't scare me...." There was a hint of sobbing in her voice.

Running fingers along the wall was becoming a bit familiar, almost comforting in a way all of these rooms had some sort of way to lull those inside into being complacent. Willing to stay and waste away inside their walls. Yet suddenly there was no wall and she turned into it, thinking it was a turn in the corridor. Light hit her eyes, blinding the woman so that an arm threw up over her face until her sight could adjust.

"What? I'm....free?" So why didn't she feel it?

It didn't seem like Taima was going in circles, judging by the path she was taking, but it certainly felt like it.

Taima fought to keep from thinking how boring this was. It was better than being in a situation that was terrible and/or painful and/or life-threatening, after all.

Taima had to be getting close to the end by now!

Space 1 -> Space 4

The naked skeleton ran straight from the room with the green pool into a maze. He stopped once he had rounded the first corner, doubling over and propping his hands on his knees. He wasn't out of breath... he had no need for breath. Rojo was simply grateful to be out of that weird palace. At least he was until the voices began.

A smile split his skull when he first heard Mami speak, but when she teased him about his current state of undress and said she wished she'd had a proper catrina instead of a useless skeleton, Rojo ran. Her voice warped and deepened, degenerating into a chattering, growling mess.

The final tower they had been instructed to search was more of a maze than the doors one had been. At least here, Maebe wasn't accidentally falling through doors without floors. But mazes were her least favorite thing to walk through, which was a short list anyway.

She adjusted her coat's collar, and headed in.

Space 4 -> Space 8

He kept going until the violent mash of sounds faded away, and for a while everything returned to normal, or as normal as it had been since he'd stepped into the tower. Rojo popped his arm out of its socket, watching it dance in the dim light of the maze, and he was almost happy again when the voices started up once more. This time it was Papi Reggie laughing at his lack of friends and the stupid school he'd chosen to attend.

Area 3 -> Area 4

Maebe didn't get very far when she heard the threatening sounds of an unfamiliar voice. She summoned Thaw quickly, and held his trident prongs defensively in front of her.

"Hello?" She felt the stupidity of calling out attention to herself the moment she'd said it, but it was too late now. She continued forward, slower this time, preparing to be attacked from the darkness.

Area 4 -> 5 -> Back two steps -> Area 3

"Who's there?!" Maebe hissed, jutting her trident in front of her. It hit solid wall, indicating that she'd hit a dead end. With a roll of her eyes, she turned back the way she'd come to find another way out.

Space 8 -> Space 10

"SHUT UP, PAPI REGGIE!" the boil shouted, thoroughly surprised when his minor tantrum seemed to silence the hallucinatory voices. At least this part of the maze seemed quiet. Rojo popped his arm back in and flexed his fingers, running them against the wall as he continued on.

Area 3 -> 5 -> back two steps -> 3

Another dead end. Was it the same one she'd just found, or a different one? She considered feeling the wall to see if she could find any markings from her trident prongs, but then she realized she didn't actually want to know. So instead, Maebe just headed back again.

Space 10 -> Space 13

At first he thought his arm was having phantom twinges because he had popped it out so recently, but Rojo soon realized it was just smacking into something repeatedly, a hard, rocky something that disappeared the moment he tried to wrap both hands around it.

"Hm," the boil said.

At least it wasn't a nasty voice.
