"It was a good sleep," Eron replied with a bit of a smile, "Probably the most comfortable in a long while."
They even had pillows and blankets and it felt like the inside of the tent was more sheltered or secure than outside. Granted, he did realize very quickly the inside of the tent was impossibly large.

At that comment, Shoneah couldn't help but smile. "Yes," she agreed. "It was very comfortable."
And she was clean, which felt great. She felt naked without her weapons, but her own clothes desperately needed washing.
At that moment, Lancaeriel emerged from her tent, and when she saw the three who were sitting on the ground, she smiled at them brightly and bid them all a cheerful, "Good morning!"
Cael was only a moment behind her, and though his wife headed for the fire pit, where she used magic to light a fire, he came to join Miyuki, Eron and Shoneah.
"Morning, all," he smiled at them all. Then he focused on Eron and Shoneah. "How are you two feeling today? You both look better than you did yesterday, clean and rested."

"Much better thank you," Eron replied while watching the newly made fire.
While is Gaia self knew those that could, could easily make a fire using magic, it was another thing completely to see it.

Shoneah smiled faintly. "Yes, much better, thanks," she said quietly. "Though I'll feel better when I have my own clothes back."
She frowned slightly. "How did she start that fire?" she asked, nodding at Lancaeriel. If they could start a fire the way she had done, they wouldn't have to go through the annoyance of having to unload a pistol, use the flint, and then reload the pistol again every single time.
Cael blinked at the question, then turned to see what she meant. When he saw Lancaeriel setting up to prepare breakfast, he smiled and turned back to the travelers.
"Magic," he replied simply. "She and I are magic users. A bit like Miyuki, I suppose," he added, nodding at the kitsune, "though Miyuki seems to prefer runes."

"It's weird... I sometimes don't have the patience to focus, but have all the patience to go through the puzzle solving steps of creating a rune array," Miyuki shrugged.
She had noticed this after a while, sometimes she preferred to talk about the theory behind magic rather than doing it. Plant magic did prove to be difficult, but only because Miyuki herself was sometimes couldn't focus long enough for long practice sessions. Meditation didn't count, because with magic sensing there was always something interesting to notice and explore. She could let her senses guide her instead of focusing herself into one task.
"He's a magic user too," Miyuki pointed to Eron, "All his magic was going into the ground like..."
She hummed a bit thinking about what she felt when his tripping wasn't distracting her.
"Roots.... they're like roots."

Cael arched one eyebrow and looked at Eron. "Oh? Earth magic, then?" he guessed. "That's a rare study. Or is your ability natural?"
Of course, his and Lancaeriel's abilities were almost entirely learned; and when they had been doing their studying, even at the fortress that housed all the world's druids, those who had studied earth magic had been few and far between.

Eron scratched the side of his nose a bit sheepishly. He wouldn't have called himself a magic user perse, it suggested to him something a deeper study than he ever did.
"A bit of both, I studied magic when was a child, my parents insisted on it and I was better suited for earth magic than anything else, but... well I stopped studying after perusing my major in chemistry. I still used it a bit afterwards, chemicals are often materials extracted from the earth in pure form, and it was always useful for putting out small fires in the classroom, but... it's been so long since I've tried doing anything else with it."

Cael smiled. "I see. Well, it's never too late to learn. If you're interested, my wife and I could help you, I'm sure." He gestured towards Lancaeriel. "She and I were druids in our first lives - people who studied magic. She was Head Druidess, too, for most of it. She's already teaching Miyuki and she loves to help people, so I'm sure it would be fine if you were interested."
"Of course it would be fine," Lancaeriel smiled from where she was working over the fire. "Don't be silly, Cael."

Eron blushed, he had been trying really hard to re-learn everything, but it would be much easier with a teacher. He found at being given tips from Miyuki made his success rate, at least a bit better.
"I would like that thank you," he replied gratefully.

"Oh, you're very welcome," Cael grinned. He turned to Shoneah. "And what about you? Are you a magic user?"
Shoneah shook her head. "Tracker and soldier."
Cael tilted his head slightly. "And the abilities must remain mutually exclusive?" he asked her.
Shoneah blinked. "I ... hadn't thought about it," she admitted.

Eron didn't know much about being a soldier, so he couldn't say. Though it seemed Shoneah's comment made the man curious.
Then again, Eron didn't know that much about Shoneah's previous lifestyle.

"Well," Cael went on, "as I said to Eron, if you are interested we can teach you. We worked with people who were never supposed to have been able to learn any control of magic at all."
Shoneah shrugged. "I wouldn't know where to begin."

Miyuki replied, "You could ask for a broad overview to see if there is any specific branch you're interested in and then decide on where to go from there. That's pretty much how I started at first, because there really are a lot of branches. You could even just start out with basic meditation and magic sensing."
Miyuki assumed that would be somewhat useful for a tracker, Gaia didn't have anywhere near the amount of magical beings on the same level as the elves in this world. So even small differences in magic power and type would be very noticeable for a magic sensor trained here if used back in Gaia.

Shoneah pursed her lips thoughtfully as she considered it. But what would she use magic for? Her people thrived without it, would it be necessary?
On the other hand, it would distract her from missing her family so much, and that would be important, especially if they were going to be stuck here for at least a few years.
Well, she would consider it, at least. There were very few things worth dismissing outright without at least some consideration.
"I'll think about it," she said finally. "It would be handy for starting fires, at least."

Miyuki nodded, "I won't deny that."
Yasu, who had been watching the two meditate (and kept Suki from being troublesome) yipped at her.
"But I have you Yasu, I know," Miyuki replied.
That was the other odd thing she found after drinking the dragon's blood, she could understand perfectly well what Yasu and the others were saying. It was no wonder why Andarien could have full conversations with his Pokemon.
