Carac's words did not satisfy her, she still felt useless. "You know....I don't know very much about you two except that you two are twins and a little tidbit about your dad." she said softly. "But then again you two don't know much about me either....Why did you help me? I was a stranger....I could have hurt you two for all you know." So much of her situation was still a mystery to her.

The twins looked at each other for a moment. "We saw you appear out of nowhere," Carac began once he faced Lynora again. "We thought you were a fellow witch. Around here, all magic users were either slaughtered or had fled, and we didn't want another to be killed if we had the opportunity to help." His eyes saddened. "We only remained because we're waiting for somebody."

"Who are you waiting for? They must be important if your willing to live out in the woods for them." She asked with a puzzled expression. Lynora noticed their saddened expressions and gave a small smile. "You don't have to tell me if it's too painful."

Carac shook his head. "No, it's fine. It's nothing too touchy," he said with a reassuring tone. "We are simply waiting for our father. He disappeared around eighteen years ago and he hasn't returned since." He didn't know any details except what his sister, who had witnessed his departure, told him. "Cedany saw the entire thing, it seems. He just vanished from sight before her eyes and we have no idea where he went."

That was strange, for a father to just vanish like that. At least her parents stayed together, she wasn't sure what she would have done if her father left. "That's terrible." she said softly, understanding, now, why Cedany was so mad at her for their cottage being ruined. "He didn't tell you two where he was going?"

"Hadn't said a word. Perhaps he told our mother, but she took that secret to her grave," Carac continued, eerily calm. "Mother just told us to wait for him. She really believed he would come back for us. I think he's still out there. Maybe he even still cares about us. I still remember him as a loving man, so maybe he wants to come back somehow."Cedany scoffed. "Such wishful thinking! Carac, you and I both know he isn't coming back. Don't you think he would have by now?" she questioned harshly. "Have you heard how he made Mother cry? If he cared so much, he would have returned by now! He's just a selfish b*****d, that's what he is!" She could not believe how much of an idiot her brother was to keep such mentality. "You're just like Mother. So hopeful and idiotic. Why don't you wake up before you waltz right back to the dungeon?!" She faced Lynora next. "Ever the curious one, you are! Do you want to know more? I'll tell you more. What would you like to know? Maybe how Father never so much as twitched while Mother and I begged him to stay? Or how about his spell revealing our location and leading to me being forced to watch as Mother burned at stake calling his name?! How much more do you want to know?!" The damned newcomer asked so many questions, not even considering her place! Was she not the reason why Carac was arrested? Why did she still dare to ask questions?

Lynora had enough of being blamed for what seemed like everything. "Don't go yelling at me for what your father did so many years ago! It's not my fault he ran out on you two! He was probably just a coward; my father was loving and caring enough to stick around for at least some of my life before he got sick and died!" She yelled back, standing up and defending herself. "I asked about you two because if I'm going to be helping you two I might as well get to know you. At least that way you don't seem like strangers. I don't know if you've notice but I don't know anybody here and I'm scared of what is going to happen next!" She would have yelled some more if her voice hadn't started to shake and cause her speech to be distorted.

"Now where did you get the idea that I was mad at you for my father's actions? I just thought you were a bit too nosy and not so meek for someone who out my brother in danger!" Cedany fumed. "You seem fine with getting along with strangers. Even that rotten Althalos! There is no need for you to know any more about us than you already had!"Carac couldn't just sit there while Cedany unleashed her rage on someone who didn't deserve it. He moved between them. "Please don't fight! This is no time for arguments. Aye me, even the castle can hear your bickering!"

Lynora took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down so that at least one of them was level-headed. "If you were shoved into my world against your will and had no clue of your surroundings or the people in it I'm sure you would try to get to know the people who helped you as well. So you could at least have a couple people to trust." Another few deep breaths. "If you don't trust at least one person to help you then could die on your own."

Cedany had nothing else to say, so she simply returned to cooking. Lynora did have a point, but the witch felt that the girl was too naive. Not everyone who helped was necessarily friendly. Personally, Cedany would have preferred to die alone, without the risk of betrayal or troubling a benefactor.Carac worried about his sister, but was a bit glad that their fight ended. Remembering that Lynora's clothes were still on the ground and were in need of cleaning, he picked up the pile to toss in the basket. What made him stop was the odd and very realistic painting piece sticking out of a pocket. "What's this?" he asked, picking up the flat square. It felt different, not like any paper or canvas. "Is this another thing from your time, Lynora?" He glanced at the painted side, seeing Lynora's image as well as that of two older people. The man looked oddly familiar.

Lynora gasped when she saw Carac pick up her most prized possession. "My picture! I forgot I had that!" She exclaimed, taking the sopping wet image from Carac as gently, though swiftly, as she could without ripping it in half. "Oh no it's all wet!" she whined softly. "It's a picture of my mom and dad. I keep it with me all the time. I guess I forgot about it when I got into the water."

"Picture? So it's a painting of sorts? Carac reasoned, unable to take his eyes off the picture. He wanted to ask about the man, but could not bring himself to. Lynora did say that he had died. The curiosity was a bit nagging, though, but it must have been without ground. His suspicions just could not be true.

She couldn't help but laugh a little. "Umm...Sort of. We have a camera that takes pictures of people and puts the images onto film. Then we get them developed and this is the result!" she said softly, showing the image to Carac. "I guess it's a little more complicated to explain to someone who's never seen a camera or picture before."

Carac stared at the picture some more. He was now more mesmerized at the accuracy of the picture. How clear! How precise! "You mean this isn't done by human hands? Or even magic?" What odd things to be made in the future! "Such a shame it there's nothing like this around here. How remarkable!" He had to resist the urge to grab the picture and examine it more closely. After all, it was precious to Lynora and apparently fragile. "Is that odd structure there your house? What is it made of? What is that strange thing with blackened wheels? It looks as if it is made of metal!"

"Whoa whoa! One question at a time!" she said with a slight giggle. "I'm not sure what the house is made of, wood and drywall maybe. Some insulation to keep the inside warm. That thing next to it is called a car, I guess to you it would be like a wagon without something to pull it." she said softly, her smile fading slowly. "I still miss him though." she sighed.
