I based Ertai's entire power set to compliment him in melee. Add on attacks or deflections against power based characters. Concussive strikes to break down accuracy and thought process.
I do my homework.

Concussive strikes to break down accuracy and thought process. I do my homework. Tres was made very differently. His powers don't really increase his ability to deal damage but instead they increase his overall versatility. In general, the worst thing Tres can do to you is punch, you stab you, hit you with a heavy object... While he can grapple with some supernatural capability due to his seismic core power, most of the time his powers just let him compete at various ranges and allow him to maintain pressure regardless of the proximity.

In all honesty I think having an answer to every outcome is... boring.
A sympathetic character should have a set of key strengths, and simply be passable or bad at everything else.
Otherwise it just encourages you to power-play, instead of playing the character.
After-all, if I can defeat a demon completely immune to fire with a dedicated pyromancer, I don't need specific replies to everything, I can make do with what I have.
At the risk of sounding like Tres, I think everyone should design their characters like this.

It creates drama when you don't necessarily have an answer to everything and forces you as a player to be creative when approaching problem solving. RP fighting is essentially problem solving for the sake of entertainment.

At the risk of sounding like Tres, I think everyone should design their characters like this. My character is epic when it comes to intelligence and actual skill. It doesn't mean he won't be suprised by something. He tries to narrow your choices to each of his actions, limiting the pool of logical escapes/counters or deflections. I do this as well as a writer. Does it mean the fight will suck? No not at all, I tend to think I make any post I do entertaining and true to character as much as possible. It isn't my fault you and your character don't have the knowledge / skill to engineer thoughts and posts in such a manner. We're not equals by any means, we just share an equal set of rules. Don't be upset when I weave gold and you spin straw. Different drives and dedication to knowing what it is you're writing about. That is why I was such a hammer when it comes to things such as post mechanics.

There is nothing wrong with a character having a wide skill base or even being a jack-of-all-trades and having mastery of said skills.
When your fight becomes boring is when you try to force your opponent to produce the outcome in which you desired.
Like I remember waaay back when, I had a fight with Tres during his MMA days in Lu-bu and he went for a shoot which I read as a tackle because, it's a special tackle I guess but nevertheless a tackle. I kicked him in the face. He posted that that was unacceptable. When I asked why he gave an explanation and eventually posted a video giving an example of what I just did to him.
I was frustrated from that point on and no longer wished to fight him.
s**t like that is what ruins a fight. Makes it boring and lack luster.

Psssssh...I haven't described you as backing up a single time. Now, Eric was trying to taunt you for staying back...basically calling you a p***y for attempting to engage him at range, but that's just a facet of his character. Calm...yo...tits. pirate Unfortunately, I have just awoken from my pre-work slumber and must now transition to my actual work process; thus, you will not see my reply until tomorrow. Much sadness. You will just have to imagine the fire.

Does having a severely bruised abdomen count?
Possible internal injuries although she is too pumped up to feel anything past the throbbing. XD
Double edged sword having a high pain tolerance. Can't feel when it is too dangerous to keep going.
And i think that is the first blood of the tournament.... I think I should get recognition for that. wink

I look forward to your post, I'm excited to see this develop. I can feel the RAGE BULLETS coming.

I do not remember this. but I fully believe it happened, because I was very much a NO Uer in the past. these days I usually just take my opponents word for it and work with whatever they give me, even if I do think its bullshit. And I ahven't forgot about you. I'll probably reply to our fight tonight.
