Because she has been expecting it Ceres knew to plant her feet. When her gun went off, she still was flung backwards but ended up staying on her feet as she skidded backwards. Her shot had barely been stronger than Lands.
"Nice shot, by the way." She commented, dropping the gun on the ground being as it was now useless.
"Now we can only hope all our effort is enough to keep it at bay."

"Looks like everyone's doing their best to make a difference. That thing is huge." He ran his fingers back through his dreads, before readjusting the lose ponytail that a few of them had fallen out of. "... And thanks. Do things like this happen often?" He gestured in the direction of the great beast.
"I mean, if so, I'll at least make sure I'm a little more prepared the next time you drag me down the hall." He played it off with a smirk that lingered on his lips, not quite making it up to eyes that were still watching the monster.

"Hey." She said, feigning attitude with hands on her hips. "How was i to know you were fresh out of the pods, rookie? s**t hit the fan and i saw your coat sigil, so i grabbed you and dragged you along."
She paused.
"Though to be frank, from now on i would always be prepared for instances like this. You never know when you will be carted off to your next mission." That was better answer than not about 'how often' these things happened.

"Oh." Mimsy almost smiled, but it felt too difficult to maintain. This was tiring work. "Of course. Still, it seems only fair to offer something to compensate for negativity. Now you can reach a balanced equilibrium--" Her throat suddenly felt so tight that it hurt, and she paused to cough. It seemed like her whole body was rebelling against something, with aches and protests and discomfort. Was that bioluminescent material toxic? The others appeared to be fine. Strange. "Ah, please excuse the interruption. Simplest first: the barrier that surrounded the island was once the superior method of keeping 'the other side' where it belongs. As a result of its disappearance, we are vulnerable, as you can see. Our defense has largely become an offense. Regarding the creature, I have never encountered a Class A hostile, but - assuming the nomenclature matches some of our others - I would infer that this is almost the worst possible scenario, and that it is a dangerous, unpredictable entity. It is important to remember, however, that it could be worse, and that we are prepared for the worst. No need for concern, only vigilance."

[Death Division] By now, Deryk really should have expected these sort of things to happen. But quite frankly, nothing could have really prepared him to see this MASSIVE BEHEMOTH threatening to take down the base. For a good moment or so, he stared up, a little dumbfounded. That was, until he was told what to do. And then he just rushed over to the nearest turret. "Okay Deryk. Can do this. Can do this. Can do this.... " he muttered to himself as he grabbed a hold of the controls.

"I'll keep that in mind." He nodded, finally tearing his eyes away from the monster to look at her again. "So... You mentioned being careful with anything the Life Division hands you. Are they the ones who came up with those Runic Net contraption things? What else might be important to know if what we did, what everyone else is doing right now, doesn't do a damn to slow that thing down?" It was a lot to ask all in one question, but given the circumstances it might be a benefit to have just a little bit more knowledge on the matter at hand.

[Death Division] He shot it! Then again, the thing was so ******** big that it would have been incredibly sad if he missed. The real question was whether or not he had actually did anything to really hurt it. Deryk didn't really want to think too hard on that. Biting his lower lip, he continued to fire away.

[Death Division] Looking around, he tried to see how the others were doing. The others were doing what they could as well, from what Deryk could tell. There still was that inkling of doubt of whether or not they could take down this gargantuan thing. Tooley kindly reminded him that this wasn't the time for such thoughts. "Right. Right. Just.. Just keep shooting. Should work. Little bullets. Big thing... Ah s**t.."

It would have been more of a term of endearment had it not been for way he said it. But they had attracted too much attention. Even Shiloh had crept closer, curious, concerned. Lucky marveled at his sincerity. "Ve have become distracted from our purpose. Ve should not be losing our heads over a little competition." " Nie mogę się doczekać," he called behind her as she passed. Click, went the pair of runes in his hands as they snapped together. He gave Quinn a passing glance, and Mimsy a far longer one, before turning back to his 'work'. Can't wait.

[Death Division] The turret he used was starting to crack. Deryk looked it over nervously as it didn't seem like it could handle much more use. As he fired off a number of more rounds, it did end up falling apart on him. He stared in dismay as he was now without a weapon. Really? This was really happening? Lex moaned as he hurriedly pulled on his coat and jeans, foregoing a shirt in the need to get their asses our of the soon to be wrecked house. ******** Merlin was an a*****e, and then Excalibur went and left them all for dead to chase down said a*****e.
Running up the hill and following the green lights, Lex lost Ami among the confused panic. She'd be alright, he told himself. She was always alright.
Now, what to do? Well... attack, obviously. Regal would be useless, so the only option was cooperating with the rest of the Life team.
That would be worse than taking this thing one on one.
