Alexis' golden amber eyes blinked at Aoi's words as he cocked his head slightly. "Your eyes reminded me of gemstones when I saw them, not only because of their beautiful color, but because of the cheerful and independent spirit behind them," he said quietly, half teasing her as he crossed his legs, forgetting that his feet were cut and bleeding as well and that the medicinal cream was sitting in Aoi's lap. He listened to what else she said and sighed. "I have nothing against patriarchs, but frankly, to put it lightly, your father needs to pull his head out of his a**," he sighed. He didn't realize he'd settled one hand close to Aoi's ankle.

Aoi grinned at Alexis as he spoke and she contently listened to him. "Really? I suppose that I am pretty independent, though I had to be since I was living on my own for the most part after I left home," she said as she looked at Alexis with glittering eyes. She looked down at the case with the cream was on her lap and she picked it up, holding it out for Alexis to take, as she listened to him commenting about her father. "It's all right. Even though he's my father and he is usually nice, he's very controlling and I truthfully hate him for that. I just wish that he, as well as the rest of the high council, would just let people do as they please, or at least let them have a little more freedom..." she added as she noticed that Alexis' hand was near her ankle.{{ooc:}}

Alexis tilted his head upward, noticing from the glowing gemstones that it was early afternoon. "Why don't we check out that beach? We can take our time getting there, if you like," he said with amusement.

Aoi noticed that Alexis looked up and she let her eyes drift to the gemstones that were glowing. "Those are really pretty and all right. I'd say I'd race you, though I don't think that my legs are quite ready for that." she said giving a faint chuckle, rubbing the back of her neck from embarrassment.{{ooc:}}

Alexis shrugged. "It's how we can see in here, thanks to a series of mirrors and crystal encrusted lava tubes that seem to bounce the sunlight down so they radiate into the cavern through the gemstone stalactites," he said with a sigh. "As to the race idea... it can let you work the kinks out of swimming with your legs if we take our time and the same for me... not to mention if we get tired of using one, we can switch," he said with a slight teasing tone. He hoped to get to the beach either right as the sun was setting, if they took their time, or as the moon was rising; it didn't really matter which to him, though, when they arrived.

Aoi looked up at the ceiling again as she listened to Alexis speaking and she scanned her eyes over the stalactites as the light shown through them. "That's really interesting," she said as she looked to Alexis. "You seem to know a lot. As to swimming with legs, I'll try that and you can try getting used to having a tail. I'm not sure how well I'll do, though I do want to practice; however, I may go back to having a tail since I'm not quite used to legs just yet." she added, looking over to the water, noticing the little silver fish was jumping in and out of the water; apparently trying to get their attention.{{ooc:}}

Alexis shrugged. "I know enough to not get killed in some ways, while you probably know survival in other ways that I don't yet know; as for endurance... best way to build that up is practice," he said with a half smile, glancing over at the fish trying to get their attention. He laid back, shifting his weight up onto his shoulders before he abruptly pushed off with his hands in one fluid movement most knew as a 'kip-up' to land on his feet. "Let's see what the fish is trying to get our attention for, eh?" he said, offering his hand to help Aoi up

Aoi nodded as she listened to Alexis and nodded in response. "I could definately show you how to hide from sharks and even the sharkmen, although they aren't as easily outsmarted as sharks. You have to be raelly careful not to leave any traces of you having been anywhere or you're almost as good as dead... Or worse if they do catch you..." she said, shuddering at the thoughts that were coming to mind. She shrugeed them away as she moved over to the water to check on what the little fish. And from what she could see and what she knew of fish, she laughed and said that he was only jealous that they had left him alone in the water without any way for him to see or hear what was going on.{{ooc:}}

Alexis winked as he chuckled softly. "Well, it's excellent that we have each other to watch our respective backs, eh?" he said half jokingly. "Jealous, eh.... well..." he said with a shrug as he dove into the water as the little fish leaped upward again, apparently glad someone was paying him some attention, before he surfaced.

Aoi nodded at Alexis in reply as she slid into the water, moving her legs and arms at the same time, trying to keep afloat. "I think that I may be getting the hang of," she started to say, before going under some and just catching herself, popping her head above the surface again and moving to the edge, grabbing on. "Dang it... I thought that I had it, but I got overly confident and sank... I'll just have to work on not sinking, I suppose." she said, laughing some as she turned to play with the fish.{{ooc:}}

Alexis chuckled. "Don't worry about it; for a novice at treading water, you're doing better than most, trust me... the reason I made the mask before was because I wasn't half as naturally talented as you are. Besides, you grew up in the ocean and water, so it probably runs in your veins, while I probably have mud flowing through mine," he said with a self-depreciating sigh. He wasn't going to tell Aoi that compared to her natural grace and skill he felt as clumsy as a orca trying to impersonate a marlin.

Aoi continued playing with the fish for a moment as she listened to Alexis speaking and she looked to him once he finished. "I guess that swimming is going to be easy for me, whether I have legs or a tail. Although you're a great swimmer and I can bet there are humans that can't swim to save their lives. You don't have to be so hard on yourself and I don't think that it'd even be possible for there to be mud running through your veins." she said, moving over to Alexis and hugging him in a comforting sort of way. When she let go of Alexis she splashed him playfully, just as she would with the dolphins when they let her travel with them. "I bet that I'll still get to the beach before you." she said, softly giggling and diving underwater, moving through the water much like she would with a tail; even though she had legs.{{ooc:}}

Alexis cocked an eyebrow as he half turned away with a half laugh, though he'd been joking before he dove beneath the water as he concentrated, a ripple of light trailing over his feet to reveal his tail as he noticed how Aoi was moving and mimicking it fairly easily. "We'll see about that," he said with a chuckle. He glanced back as they both shot out of the tunnel into the gorge as his gaze shifted back to the hole, seeing a rippling flicker of lavender light form into a ring that he assumed would keep any curious people out other than them.

Aoi moved through the water much faster than she thought she'd be able to with legs, although seeing as she was moving just as she would with a tail it wasn't all that surprising. She had placed the little fish back into the pouch to keep him from getting left behind as she swam from the tunnel. She looked back and noticed that Alexis had his tail and she smirked, thought of the choker and then of her tail. A moment later she had her tail and she picked up the pace and said, laughing. "Try keeping up with me now." She didn't really want to leave Alexis behind, although she did love a good race and she wanted to see how fast he could get used to his tail.{{ooc:}}

Alexis concentrated as a barely noticeable ripple flickered over his body as he accelerated, not seeming to notice as he unconsciously decreased the drag on his body as small fragments of dark metal trailed after him; he'd forgotten that he usually sewed weights into his clothing, which at that moment couldn't take the pressure or speed of his movement and shattered, falling apart behind him as he moved, not realizing what had happened. His gaze shifted rapidly around, noticing a few sharks, though only one shot after them and soon fell away as they shot through an undersea arch. He noticed that he was roughly five to six feet behind her, a bit longer than his 5' 7" body length; he didn't notice at all that he had actually lost a couple of inches in height with the tail as compared to his usual legs.
