As the group reached the front door of the building, three figures rushed past them and would have bowled them over if they weren't so small.
They rushed out into the dusty street, the blue-haired boy carrying a basketball. He turned to face the other two, grinning as he bounced the ball several times.
"I call being the Captain!" He said in a loud voice, still grinning.
"Aw, whyyyy? I want to be Captain!" The brown-haired boy pouted. The blue-haired boy looked over at him, spinning the basketball on his finger.
"Tell ya what..." he stopped spinning the ball and bent down, picking up a rock.
"If you can break one of these rocks with your resonance force, you can be captain." The brown-haired frowned.
"Not fair...you know I can't do that!" He complained. The blue-haired boy shrugged. The white-haired boy walked over and picked up a rock.
"Like this," he said as he held it up. He raised his resonance force for a few seconds before the rock exploded in his hands, falling to the ground in pieces.
"Yeah!" The blue-haired boy agreed. He picked up another rock in his hand and held it, concentrating his resonance force. It began to split and crack, then finally exploded in the same manner as before.
"Try it!" The white-haired boy urged. The brown-haired boy sighed and bent down, reluctantly scooping up a rock and holding it in his hand. He focused on it, raising his resonance force as high as he could. The rock slowly began to crack but after several moments it still didn't break.
"Guess I'm still Captain then!" The blue-haired boy said cheerfully.
The brown-haired boy sighed as he dropped the rock. Doing something as simple as breaking a small rock with resonance force would literally be child's play for Dara, Shira, Atticus, Aislin, Michi or Ina, but since the three boys were small children it was about the limit of their strength.
"Here, catch!" The blue-haired boy called, tossing the ball towards the white-haired boy. The white-haired boy caught it easily, bouncing it on the ground a few times before tossing it to the brown-haired boy. Apparently being the "captain" didn't mean much in this game except having bragging rights. The brown-haired boy bounced it once before stopping and turning to a make-shift basket hanging from about half-way up a light pole. He threw it upwards, aiming to make a basket but the ball hit the rim and bounced back off into the street.
"Nice miss!" The blue-haired boy called as he ran after the ball. It came to a stop at Dara's feet and he ran over, picking it up as he noticed the group for the first time. He looked up at Dara, a confused expression on his face.
"Who are you?" He asked her. The other two boys turned to watch, seeming to wonder the same thing.
