Serenity Milana Stryker

"Why is it that when I tell people I'm a Nogitsune, the first thing they think is Evil?

Serenity continued to watch the young man warily, thinking he might try to grab her after she relaxed but he still didn't do anything and sat down on the bed in the room she had been thrown in. Tugging again on her collar, the girl sat on a chair as far away from him as she could, but settled down. She wanted to see him as a friend and trust him from how he had acted but from what she had experienced so far in this lifestyle, the girl was skittish and paranoid, always on her guard ever since that man had kidnapped her from her kin. Folding her arms and leaning back in the chair, she looked over at the male just as he said his name. "Willow?...Th-thank you...I guess....I don't like those guards..." Her voice trailed off, her ears low and tail curled in her lap. "But why do that for a complete stranger? You don't even know me..." She looked over at him, confused. Sure, he said he didn't want to avoid any necessary violence and she would have assumed maybe because he was too arrogant to tolerate being in the presence of that but from the tone of his voice, Serenity felt like he actually cared about her well being.
Hearing him ask her name, the girl hesitated, debating on whether or not she should give it to him. If she did, they would be closer in a sense but if she didn't she might never get out of this place. The girl looked over at Willow, realizing something. She would never be able to get out of this place herself...but what if she were to be taken somewhere else? The only way she could was for someone to buy her.
Staring at him, Serenity moved her ears forward slightly, feeling a small shred of hope. "My name is..Serenity." She finally said, lowering her head shyly. "I'm sorry I bit you." Making up her mind and driving her fear away, the girl slowly stood up and shuffled over to Willow, gently taking his hand and looking at it. "I didn't bite too deeply but it's still bleeding a lot." Getting up again, she walked over to the bathroom and grabbed a towel then walked back over and wrapped his hand in it. "I don't have any band-aids unfortunately....so this will have to do for now" Serenity smiled shyly for a split second then moved away from him and sat back in her chair.

I am not evil, I am merely mischievous, there's a big difference you know!"

❖Neko Seraphim❖
Kira Langer
Energetic - Curious - Affectionate

Kira could not believe it. Her mistress had sold her because she wanted someone younger. Well screw her then! She was loyal, obeyed her orders and requests and what did she get back for it? Being taken to yet another place that sold slaves. She had been waiting weeks for someone to take her with them but every single time a person walked into her room, they had walked out and never been heard from again. She wondered what she was doing wrong. Did she look weird? Or maybe it was her energetic personality. Kira was playful and she may have seemed to be difficult to handle but she really wasn't, she aimed to please her owner. Lowering her ears, the girl sadly sat on her bed, wrapping her wings around her, trying to calm down and keep hoping for that one special Mistress who would be perfect for her. After a few minutes, she began feeling drowsy and nodded off for a few minutes before she was awoken by a knock on the door. Jerking her head up, the girl eagerly waited to see if it was another person looking for a slave, but recognizing the voice, the girl lowered her ears again as one of the guards walked in, giving her lunch for the day. She was fortunate in having him watching her door, he had told her his name was Kyle and occasionally when she was bored or just needed someone to talk to, she would sit next to the door and talk to him through it, unable to be let out of her room. He seemed kind and would always tell her not to give up, that she would get a Mistress sooner or later. "Thanks for the food...how many people have been here so far today?" She asked, curious. "Just been a normal day so far, a bit slower than usual though." Kyle answered, knowing she asked that question every day just to see how many people might be interested in her. "You'll find someone, don't worry." He said, placing her food tray on the nearby desk then closing the door and locking it again. Kira shuffled over and looked down at the food to see they had given her some chicken with spices on it and side dishes of mashed potatoes and a small salad. Eating slowly, the girl pondered what she would do if she were stuck in here the rest of her life. There was hardly anything to do here in this one room...she wondered if the Mistress over this whole place would allow her somewhere else if she behaved really well....She could only hope..but she hadn't heard of any slaves but the Mistresses' own personal ones to be able to leave their rooms so her chances were slim..unfortunately. Sighing in frustration once she finished her meal and Kyle had come in, taking the tray, Kira began pacing across her room, tucking her wings in behind her then finally retracting them completely so she would have more room to maneuver. She looked out the window, whimpering a little when she saw how beautiful a day it was.. perfect for flying. She missed the feel of that so bad, it made her depressed every day to be unable to use her wings to rise above the ground and feel free for even a few moments. That was what she missed most about her old life. Even her previous Mistress barely allowed her to fly. The girl slumped down onto her bed and sprawled on top of the covers, in a spread eagle position, looking up absently at the ceiling.

In the end,as you fade into the night,
Who will tell the story of your life?

After his extended bout of pacing, Zephyr had eventually resigned himself to sitting on the bed again, once more contemplating the wall in front of him. While he would really like someone to talk to right now, then again, he sorta...enjoyed being alone. It was a thing that had started for him early on in the Agency, when a lot of his missions, including the botched one that landed him in this hellhole that they called a "mansion," involved Zephyr becoming a lone wolf of sorts. He spent a lot of nights alone, and sometimes, even entire weeks without saying so much as a single syllable to anyone or anything. Hell, there were times where he didn't see ANYONE at all. So no, being alone was not new to him, and hey, sometimes it grew on him. But there were also times, like now, when he just wanted to talk to someone. Or, preferably, just argue.

So, when some girl just barged into his room (Seriously, does no one know of privacy these days?) and began insulting him? He mentally jumped for joy, though his exterior showed irritation as he stood and rounded on her. He regarded the girl in front of him, quirking his eyebrow when he noted that they were approximately equal in height. In fact, he may be a little taller. It wasn't really saying much. considering that Zephyr was still well under six feet, but at least he didn't have to break his neck to look her in the eyes defiantly. While he did not attack, his body was tensed, as if ready to spring, though that was more for self defense in case she wished to harm him for some reason. "That's because I have a duty to fulfill, specifically investigating this slave ring for illegal activities. I admit, I have not been as successful as I would wish...." He paused, tilting his head and sniffing slightly. Being an elf, his senses were very keen, and not just to the regular old five senses either. Zephyr smelled something...otherworldly about this woman...no, not otherworldly. His previous owner had been otherworldly. This smelled even more foreign than that....He lit up another cigarette, putting on his shades, and spoke again, his voice tinged with...slight intrigue. "I sense something....different about you. You are not a human, or an alien...you smell of something else, something that even the PLEA is not fully educated in, and trust me, the PLEA, who I work, or worked, for, were the experts on anything that was not of the ordinary. I smell....another dimension on you..." Zephyr gave a half smile, pacing nonchalantly. "The PLEA knows of only one person who is connected to inter-dimensional activities, a young boy named Nel. You...wouldn't happen to know him would you? There is quite a large reward in store for the one who can bring him in for questioning on his involvement..." Zephyr looked at the woman expectantly, his muscles still tense, ready for an attack should it come.

And who will remember your last goodbye?

Cause it's the end and I'm not afraid,
I'm not afraid to die.

'Th-They caught me at my weakest...'
Her voice, it was so quiet but it held so much emotion. She was ashamed of what happened, it was written all over her body language. And terrified, absolutely terrified. He didn't blame her, this world was pretty horrid, especially if you have something that made you different from the rest. Adjusting the mask on his face out of habit, Kaelan and Pandora tensed up in surprise as the girl suddenly fell backwards off the side of the bed. Reaching out a hand stupidly like it would have made some kind of difference, Kaelan just had to watch as she disappeared from sight, a soft thud sounding as she hit the carpeted floor. Pandora slowly crawled over to the edge of the bed with a concerned meow, and Kaelan walked around it very slowly, his footsteps exact and loud so she could hear him coming, and feel it too. Her soft voice answered the question he already knew the answer to by now, but it still didn't make him feel any better hearing it. Barely past the foot of the bed, still a safe and respectable distance from the fallen girl, Kaelan took in a deep, shaking breath; it wasn't polite to leave a lady fallen, especially if she may have hurt herself. Gathering all the courage he could, he walked around the bed with purpose but stopped nearby. "Don't.. Don't worry... Let me help you back up. I don't want to hurt you... Truly. Just let me help you miss." Whether she answered or not, Kaelan was on a bit of a mission to help the girl, and with a gentle hand on her shoulder and another cupping her elbow, he gently sat her up, then helped her stand, then lead her to the bed before retreating again. Pandora paced in circles on the quilt, right up until the girl was shown where it was. A little bit confused as to why the girl was so afraid of her - working with the paranormal had left the cat rather brave and unafraid of everything - Pandora simply left the bed. For now.

Kaelan didn't know what to do. This girl wasn't much help to him (if he was to be brutally honest that was), but Pandora seemed to like her for some reason. He trusted his familiar quite a lot, ever since she was gifted upon him as a kitten, and her own gift of everlasting life was bestowed upon her soon after; Pandora had the gift of regeneration, a life-cycle like that of a phoenix except instead of ash, she was reborn from snow and ice. Watching the girl for a moment, Kaelan wordlessly turned around and excused himself silently from the room. The guard seemed happy to see the hooded man with his masked face, but Kaelan didn't seem happy to see the guard. "Can we continue now? The slave in this room isn't the one you requested to see." Staring at the guard, Kaelan sighed softly. He really didn't like it when people tried to make life difficult for him - especially since his own life was especially difficult these days. "How about you go get me the files for this girl, and then tell me I can't see her, hmm?" Even if he was an introvert and despised talking with people, Kaelan wasn't one to take no easily. He had a stubborn streak to rival any toddler, and could get angry if needbe. The guard began to reply, and Kaelan flipped back his hood, a shock of almost cliche Irish ginger hair cascading around him, his Phantom of the Opera-like mask covering his disfigurement, even if some of it crept through the silver mask. "Get. Me. The files. Are you denying a patron a possible sale? Get me, the damned files." Taken aback at the once quiet man's new attitude, the guard quickly left, and Kaelan turned on his heel and faced the open door. He knew his words had been loud, and there was a chance that the celestial woman inside had heard them, but he was trying to do something good in his life for once. Or so he hoped he would...

A good five minutes later, and a growing impatience threatened to overtake Kaelan when the footsteps of the guard returning made him look up. Files held out to him, the man simply stared at the folder. Taking them with no intention of reading them, he smiled a slightly off-putting grin. "Thank you. Now I'm going back to talk to this girl, I trust there's no problem now?" Knowing that the guard couldn't deny him access to the girl's room any longer, Kaelan shut the door in a very pointed way, and straight away found Pandora winding around his legs; that cat always knew when something good was going to happen. Sitting himself down, away from the bed so that the girl hopefully wouldn't fret too much, he left the unopened file on his lap, his hood still down since the fear of her seeing his ugly face didn't exist right now. Hands constantly folding and unfolding on the file, Kaelan didn't know what to say, his confidence gone now. Feet beginning to bob, he just blurted out his first thought. "What's your name? ... Please." Eyes unable to look at the blind girl, he found he still couldn't trust anyone in close proximity to not judge him. Fiddling with the edges of the folder, Kaelan looked down at Pandora who was rubbing his legs. It was incredibly relaxing... "If.. If I said I could take you to a place where you won't be hurt. Where... You won't be laughed at or judged just because you're different... Would you want to come? I need... I mean... My job takes me away from Pandora - my cat - quite a bit... I would like it if you'd come live with us and look after her." His house was simple, one story and quite open. Plus the island was quite easy to navigate with time. Kaelan had intended to find someone who was a little bit more outgoing, but with her lack of eyesight, at least he wouldn't have to explain his deformed face. At least he wouldn't have to hide so much around this gentle woman. Plus with her status as a celestial being, the male felt like he owed it to her to get her out the manor and away from this life. He just couldn't leave someone so delicate behind.

So, dipping her feet into the water had been a good idea. Selena instantly felt much calmer and more at peace with everything. Shutting her eyes, the woman drew ribbons of water up her legs in a spiral fashion, scales of shimmering blues popping up subtly beneath the clear liquid. Dress hiked up around her hips as she sat on the very edge of the cushioned bench, the mermaid felt much happier. The itching had stopped finally, and alternating the path of the water brought much relief to the mermaid's skin and temperament. It still didn't mean she wanted to actually see or talk to anyone at the moment, but she was quite sure she wouldn't snap at anyone. At least, she hoped she wouldn't snap, it really wasn't her fault if she did - it was her nature for pete's sake! Yet, feet in the water, she happily wriggled her toes, the itching sensation finally gone for a while. Just as she was debating about taking a nap, a knock at the door snapped the woman from her daze. Water falling back into the pool rapidly, the woman lowered her dress to calf height, tying the fabric up in a knot to stop it from falling down. Staring at the door in silence, she waited for the handle to turn, which it eventually did after a few moments - obviously the person on the other side had some kind of manners. What Selena was expecting to see was another rich sonuvabitch, ready to take the mermaid home to display her for all his rich buddies to see.

What she wasn't expecting, was the short blonde boy that walked in. Canting an eyebrow up in mild curiosity, the blonde just stared at the other blonde who introduced himself in an overly chipper manner. Jesus this kid was energetic. Fine, if he wanted to get a positive reaction, he'd have one alright. "My name? Fine." And shrugging, the next time Selena opened her mouth, it wasn't words that escaped. Well, words the kid would understand. It was mermish, and on land it sounded god. awful. With a smirk, she simply just tucked some hair behind her ears. "Or just Selena, in case you didn't get that." Turning back to the water, her frustration at this sudden interest in her had made her feel less calm and relaxed as before. Not grumpy enough to really bite heads off, but just grumpy enough to be a little sarcastic. Toes wriggling in the water while her eyes remained on this "boy", she looked him over curiously. "Okay, so what are you? Are you the son of some tycoon, come to butter up a potential showpiece? Or are you a bored only child, looking for something "fun to keep yourself occupied." If it wasn't obvious before, it was quite obvious now at just how much Selena hated being in such a place and being passed around as a trophy pet. "I'm not some goddamned trophy, and if you're looking for a showy pet, go find some goddamned Unicorn or flipping Naiad or something." Turning away from the kid, the mermaid really didn't feel ashamed for revealed her distaste of this life.

Looking back to the water, Selena flipped her hair back and met the blonde's gaze again. "Look, it aint your fault kid, I'm just not interested in being some prized "fish" in some rich guys tank again, so go tell daddy that I wasn't good enough and you weren't happy and want to find something else. I won't be insulted, it's okay." And lifting her feet out the water, she allowed them to hang in the air for a moment to draw the water off her skin to drop back into the kiddie pool. Of course, this was a rather obvious show of her hydromancy skills, as the droplets falling back into the water weren't your normal sized drips of water, but were quite large balls of water. Feet dry, she placed them on the ground and stood up, walking over to the night stand to grab a simple band and gripped it between her teeth. Deftly, the woman split her hair into three and braided it over her shoulder, tying the end nimbly to keep it from unwinding. Right now the mermaid didn't care if the blonde was still around - she'd made her point clear. She was sick of being a trophy pet, sick of being just some pretty fish in a tank, and was sick of being bought only to be shown off. Okay sure, she may have been banished from her true home but it didn't mean she didn't deserve some dignity. Sure there was some people in the world that didn't deserve any dignity at all, but she felt she did. Hell, she was a freaking mermaid after all! She was a creature of myth, a direct descendant to the first mermaid known to exist. But what did that matter in this day and age where werewolves, vampires and even nymphs could be bought for the right price for whatever reason, and the collar around her neck wasn't letting her forget that.

RUNNINGout of time....

<<<<<<<<<<

>>>I know I've gotta findYOU....

<<<<<<<<<<<<

>>>>>>Wonder if you're evenTHERE....

( Where are you? Where are you! )

By this time, Catalina was too stressed to fret about the creature the was mewing at her from the edge of the bed. She was so far caught up in thinking she could almost hardly care about the little creature. She was just afraid and she could feel the adrenaline slowly pumping into her blood stream as she huffed out air, to move her bangs from tickling her eyes. She tuned in on the man's footsteps as they neared. Here it comes. The pain that would flow into her heart and explode. The laughter, the humiliating, stupid cackle that humans make when amused. It could be the deadliest weapon for such a sensitive girl like her. It was a weapon that was often times aimed at her and shot. She always thought the purpose of laughter was to bring good. Her mother always told her it was the path to true love, but it's never brought her anything but dread. The man took slow steps, as if he was being cautious and he made them loud and clear. What was his reasoning behind all this? He was deeply confusing her, in every way and she just didn't understand anymore. It was very exhausting to constantly contemplate when your senses fail you in most cases. The floor ever so slightly vibrated each time he took a step as his weight came closer and closer to where she was lying, on the floor.

Catalina squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for it. She dig her nails into the carpet, taking in a deep breath. It was the intensity of silence that always got on her nerves. She could feel her heart skips a few rushed beats as the man stopped near the bed post and sucked in a throat full of air. What was he waiting for? She was scared, but ready as always to be vocally trashed and put down. She licked her cracked lips and bit her big bottom lip, holding back her anticipation to see what happens, holding back her thoughts. It was so different, so strange to be in this man's presence. Catalina sucked in a little air as she heard the man's voice hesitantly speak again. His voice was haunting, sharp but yet it seemed assuring. Could he be trusted? She paused for a moment, thinking, processing his words. She slowly nodded her head, in approval as her mind still was trying to figure out why exactly this was being so kind and so respectful to Cat. She hasn't been treated like such a lady since... since she was in the skies. She was treated like a princess there, being a descendant from a god and all. But that was then, this is now. She's not in the past, she's in the present. The terrifying, dreadful, excruciatingly depressing present.

Even before she had nodded her approval, the man already has his grip on her and she was slowly helped up until she was standing. He was a gentle man, and she couldn't be more surprised about all of this, but she was dearly grateful. He lead her close to the bed, and she took shuffled steps with her bare feet, her arms reaching out waiting to feel the bed. The plush feel of the silky comforter assisted her comfort and as soon as she was crawling back onto the bed, the man quickly retreated, away from her. He was not afraid of her, was he? Her thought was interrupted when she felt the wait and smelled the presence of the little furry creature once more. It seemed to be friendly towards Catalina, but that still gave her no excuse to trust it. She was aware of it's being by now, and was okay with it being on her bed as she now has discovered that it won't leave. But who did leave, was the male. He went without a word, leaving his little creature behind and slowly wonder glazed over Catalina's mind. She quickly began to worry if she was stuck with this creature thing and she felt a sense of desperation when the man left. He was gentle, and kind, and respectful. Everything she has wanted from a master. She felt a weird but faint safety feeling around the man but she pounded down on her gut and decided that it was to idiotic to feel so attached at first impression. The poor girl felt fear and dangerous creep around the room and she began to freak out. With her quirky and weird ways, she brought her knees back up to her chin and stared straight ahead. The young girl began to toy with a strand of her silvery hair as she very quietly murmured a poem/lullaby. Her mother used to tell it to her when she was just a babe, and the mystery of it, was that it had no ending. Her mother always built on lines throughout Catalina's young years and yet she still says there is a few lines left to be discovered, and they all are based on Cat's fate. The little story comforted her as she remembered her mother and how she sometimes sung it to her, read to her or hummed it to her. The simple delights in something small and made up was so powerful to Catalina and as half of her brain worried, the other half giggled with the thought of her mother.

Over her quiet whispers, Cat could hear talking just outside her room again, and it was much clearer now that her door was open. She didn't want to listen and she whispered louder but she decided she really needed to know what this man was up to so she stopped he constant jabbering and looked in the direction of the door, blinking her eyes a few times. There was strength and determination in the man's voice as he spoke to a guard. His words spoke of Cat's file. What, would he want with it? He wasn't going to purchase her or anything, right? His voice sounded so different from when he was helping her. A change of character really, but what for? It put a bit of fear again to rise up Cat's spine but she fought the urge to hide again. She needed to stop hiding every time she felt fear. It was nonsense. Cat began to mutter her little poem again, a little more quiet now, since she knew that man was still just outside her door frame, and she relaxed her tense body to curl into the fetal position, her head resting on a soft pillow. It had seemed forever since the sound of movement and Catalina slowly sat up. The guards steps hurried to the man and she listened in on the man's words. He must have scared that guard half to death, what a shame. It slightly scared the young girl but she was still just so confused. Why would he want to still talk to me when he has my very own folder of everything. Of everything I live, I breathe. My past, my mistakes, my bad habits. Everything there is to know about me is right in there. All my secrets, and I never feel more humiliation then when someone reads it. It holds the key to how I live. It tells others of my body, my mind, everything. So why wasn't he opening it? Why couldn't I hear the sound of papers rustling as he scanned over the text. Why wasn't he reading it? Cat ached to know. He was such a mysterious man, just like his creature.

The sound of the door shutting, made the girl jumped and she lowered her head as she traced her fingers over the skin on her knee. Such a strange texture The girl had unknowingly noticed that the little creature had escaped from the bed and was now with his master, but she wouldn't have been affected much with that information otherwise. She heard the creak of the wood as the man sat down(not sure if he sat down in a chair or not sooo..) as the man sat down and she sat more upright, still a bit uncomfortable with his presence. It's been a while since she's had visitors, so she was rusty in the whole socializing thing. The eery silence was broken when the man blurted out with much anticipation a question she hasn't heard, in many many years. She traced through her thoughts, back, back, back until she was seeing the memory of her in a courtyard. Being and apsara, they had a special gift with memory. You see, when they traced back through their memories, the memory displayed over their eyes like a movie until they stopped thinking about the memory. Catalina seemed to be in a trance as her eyes played out a setting. Her two big bulbs gave off a little light as she stared back towards the man. She was a little girl then, in a white fluffy dress with her pet, a large white dog. He was a guardian for her, her protector. Many star flowers surrounded her little frame and as she sniffed one, the very same question the man had just asked her, came out of the mouth, of a young little boy who stood behind her. It was the very first day she made a friend. Her eyes dimmed back to a silvery gray as the memory was lost and she frowned, lowering her head. "Cat-Catalina.", she managed o croak as the longing of home overcame her. Such a very homesick young girl she was, so far from home.

Catalina perked up, as her ears slowly soaked in hungrily all his words. They were very appetizing. His offer was everything she's ever wanted since she fell to this Earth. It was breathtaking and heart pounding to hear something so great. Her gut took over and pushed her mind out of the way. There was no time to think. She needed to fulfill her deepest desires. She repeated his words through her mind several times, just savoring the moment. It was so appeasing to her that she couldn't refuse. She was going through so much pain. This would relieve her from her depression, from her fear. He explained his reasoning. He seemed as awkward as she was with socializing. It kept awkward air between them, but that didn't matter. When he explained the reason with his cat which she heard him call Pandora, she felt a gust of relief fill her. Cats were common in this area and she's had many experiences with them. She loves cats, embraces them, adores them. This would be no problem. She girl's lips curved a little bit at the ends and she nodded as she batted her eyes. "Yes, I will go." Her voice had a different tone to it. It was very soft, but smooth and almost delighted. Her one flaw in this, was that she was not asking herself why he was making such a great offer. She just didn't want to think anymore. She tucked her now dry and messy hair behind her ear as she let her eyes wander downwards, to stare at the floor.

Nolana skipped happily through the shop, almost oblivious to her surroundings as she dragged her brother behind her. She was wearing her favorite outfit which consisted of her skirt, black tank top, 'LOVE' shirt, and her gloves and belt. It was her cutest outfit in her opinion and she ignored the stare that people gave her. Humming to herself, she looked about for a particular room, finally finding it and shouting out in excitement. She burst through the door and smiled at the two that were inside.
"Hi there! I'm Nolana and this is my twin brother Kade. We're your new masters!"
Nolana smiled and waved at the silver haired man and woman before she felt a tap on her shoulder. She looked over at her brother and saw that he was holding up a his notepad.
'You'll scare them if you are overly excited.'

Nolana read the message and then waved her hand to dismiss her brother's statement as she turned to face him.
"Nonsense. If they see they are getting happy masters then they won't be as scared if they were getting a serious one like you."
Nolana stuck her tongue out at her brother before giggling. She turned towards the slaves once more, clearly in a playful mood.

Eshe was lost in thought, pacing the room as she reviewed and perused through all the words, lyrics, notes, harmonies and instruments in her head. In her hand multiple pages of empty staff paper filled with her latest masterpiece. Lost in her many many thoughts she hand't heard the pairs footsteps nearing her door. Without any instruments to work on this piece with Eshe resorted to pacing, unable to remain still when something was on her mind or deep in thought. When the door slammed open she jumped, resulting in her tripping and falling flat with a soft yipe. Keeping her eyes low her instincts kicked in. She kept her head bowed as she began to straighten herself, sitting up and straightening her shirt and fixing her hair. She then slowly walked over to her bed and sat down trying hard to ignore the throbbing pain shooting through her rib cage. She kept her eyes low and desperately hoped they took notice of her apologetic and submissive body language. Oh please don't be upset with me. she thought unsure if they may be able to hear her thoughts or not.

Resting his head against the wall, Bo listened to all the sounds and words being made throughout the house. More often than most he was found doing this, sometimes out of sheer boredom, other out of instinct. It was his way of protecting his sister even while they are here. Being able to hear any possible threat ahead of time would prove helpful in any case of danger. Hearing two sets of footfalls, he got up and went to lean against the wall next to the barred window. Crossing his arms over his chest he watched his sister pace around the room. She was obviously hard at work on a new piece of music. He smiled in amusement at the realization that Eshe was keeping in step to the many tempos in her head. He wouldn't have noticed if not for her right hand conducting and showing the tempo. When the door flew open his smile went back to his usual grimace, that is until he watched his sister trip, "Graceful." he said in a low voice, resulting in his receiving a glare from his sister that didn't end until he lifted his hands in front of his chest, palms out in a submissive manner. Once that was settled he sighed and crossed his arms once more. At hearing...well seeing the two fighting...sort of, he raised an eyebrow in interest, but for a second before returning to his usual appearance. "So I see you two are the new leash holders of ours..." he said receiving another glare from his sister. He didn't give in this time and she sighed softly and turned back towards their new masters. Bo tossed his sister's bag at her, they always were packed having been bounced around so much it was second nature for them to simply be packed already. Leaning down he picked up his duffle bag and went to stand beside his sister.

Caelum listened curiously to the girl’s hasty retort and explanation, his head tilted to the side. It was almost as though she was trying to convince herself of the fact. He couldn’t be sure how much she was succeeding at doing so, or if he was even right in observing that. It could even be that she wasn’t aware of how her hurried words sounded; a subconscious intention that she wasn’t fully aware of. As he listened to her ‘speaking’ a smirk grew on his face; one that any observant person would probably peg down as an expression of victory. It was an expression that said every spoken thought the girl in front of him uttered was digging her into a deeper and deeper hole. However, he didn’t interrupt her at any point of her ramblings. Why would he do that? Everything she was saying made his curiosity towards them grow, and besides, he liked winning, even if he did so because the other party ‘dug their own grave’ so to speak. She had already placed herself on a train to hypothetical destruction, why should he derail it?

He let herself finish her speech, the smirk refusing to leave his face. Obviously her words had been designed to dissuade him from purchasing them, or even having anything more to do with them, but they had produced the exact opposite effect on the djinn. The only useful purpose they had served was to stall time until her brother woke up, the one who was obviously the stronger one of the two. Personality-wise at least, but Caelum wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if the same was true for their physical strength. All the same, it would be a lot more interesting if it were opposite. Ah well, he was sure he would find out eventually, although he figured he would be disappointed when he did. Secrets that were revealed were always less than what one’s imagination built them up to be. One couldn’t have everything, although Caelum wouldn’t mind being close.

The smirk on Caelum’s face took on a cruel edge as the boy – Michael – snapped at him. ”Oh, so you can think about yourself.” Caelum commented in a pleasant tone, although with a hint of a sigh, as though he was disappointed in a purely teasing manner, ”and here I almost thought that I was about to finally meet someone who was completely selfless and only thought of others, even if that ‘other’ was exclusively one person.”

As the boy attempted to stare him down, Caelum met his eyes with amusement. In his human from, the djinn was nearly seven feet tall. He knew that a lot of other djinn would consider the height almost abnormally short, but it was already exceedingly tall for a human, so Caelum didn’t worry about being taller. The boy in front of him was about a foot and a half shorter than him, so despite his best attempts, he was hardly imposing or threatening in the slightest.

Just as the djinn was about to make another comment and respond to the girl’s words from earlier, the twins began to fight. Stopping short, he tilted his head and listened to them, his curiosity once again growing. Listening to their argument, Caelum raised an eyebrow, especially about their comment of a ‘tornado.’ A frown quickly flew to his face and he crossed his arms. These two… that couldn’t have been… he thought to himself. His eyes closed for a moment, as he began to get lost in thoughts, but he quickly snapped himself out of it and returned his attention to the two in front of him.

As Michael hugged his sister, attempting to comfort her, Caelum smirked to himself. Curiouser and Curiouser. he mused, I shall have to have them now.

”For all you try, neither of you are very good at chasing away a person’s curiosity, are you?” he commented, looking down at the pair once again. He focused first on Michael, fixing him with a smirk of victory. ”Your fears are pointless. I take care of all things of value in my possession. The only thing you would have to fear is sparking my rage.” he stated.

”As for you,” he spoke, turning his focus to Aurora, ”I’m afraid your words weren’t very effective. After all, what most people see you as and what you are, are two completely different things. I am interested in what you are. And although you are right that you would not be the only the being who don’t age, that hardly means much. It’s not as if you would outlive me.” The smile that was on his face when speaking to her was much softer, than the one that had faced her brother. It was quite obvious which of the twins he liked better. Turning around he walked back to the door, pausing before he knocked on it to let the guard know that he was finished and ready to make his purchases. Turning around, he faced the twins again. ”I have made up my mind that I will purchase the both of you, so are you going to keep up the attitude and continue to cause trouble, or shall you put such foolish endeavors aside until we at least arrive at home?” he asked, a dangerous expression gracing his face.

Nolana stopped when she heard the thoughts of the girl tickle the inside of her mind. She paused for a moment before she looked at her brother and than back at the girl. They would be able to communicate without a problem. Smiling, Nolana squealed excitedly before she looked at Kade.
"This is perfect! I told you everything would be okay!"
You don't know that Nolana. You bought these people without my permission and now you expect me to just taken them in without discussing it? Unbelievable.
"You always were a stick in the mud. Can't you trust me this once? Besides, you need someone besides me around or else you'll be unsociable."

Nolana waved off her brother and turned towards the two. She heard Bomani's comment and saw Eshe's reaction before she looked at the paper's in her hands. Noticing they were music sheets, she smiled before she decided to speak.
"In a way, yes we are. Eshe is paired with my brother while you are paired with me. Oh, and we have a wonderful music room back at the house! Eshe, feel free to use it to your pleasing."
Nolana smiled before she noticed that the both of them were ready. She looked back at her brother who had a sour expression on his face and rolled her eyes before beginning to push him out the door.
"If you don't get in a good mood soon, I'm going to drown you in the pool."
She turned back to the others and smiled before waving her hand in a following motion.
"Let's get out of this creepy place."

Eshe sat silently as she watched the two interact and heard Kade's thoughts without realizing it and thought nothing out of the ordinary. She couldn't help but giggle softly in her head at Kade's words, he was in some ways like her brother. Maybe she'll get used to this pair, They seem alright, I only hope I please them and don't get beat or... she let her thought stop there as a shudder took her and stopped her from finishing her thought which would've caused her to remember their past owners treatment towards her. Eshe looked up and jumped slightly seeing the girl closer to her and looking at her sheet music. But couldn't help her smile at the mentioning of a music room. Her eyes gleamed with desire, hope, wonder, and ultimately excitement. She had dearly missed the sounds and vibrations of instruments. All the excited thoughts that were bombarding her head suddenly stopped when she realized the first half of the girl's words. I...I'm his? she thought her face becoming flush with worry, and a touch of embarrassment.

Bo frowned hearing only one person speaking in what seemed to be a two way conversation, and unlike his sister he couldn't hear thoughts or read minds or whatever it was she did. He grew frustrated and annoyed at the entire situation. He heard Nolana's words and raised an eyebrow in interest once more, "Paired with you? As in wha-oomph" he said as he received an elbow to the stomach from Eshe, "Hey! What was that for..." he sighed in annoyance as the words 'manners' echoed through his head. "Yea yea manners manners. Geez you sound like that old behavior coach from when we were kids." At her turning back around to face their new leash pullers, he let out a sigh in annoyance once more. Before allowing himself to smile for a second, A music room would be great for Eshe. He smirked, "Hey you hear that sis? A music room you are allowed to use...Now you don't have to pace in such an ungraceful, yet entertaining manner." he said side stepping away from her elbow going at him again. He smirked, "Not this time sis." he said before picking up their bags and beginning to head to the door after hearing the word to leave. "Come on Eshe let's get out of here."

Cleia couldn’t help but admit to herself that she was excited by the irritated expression she saw on the man’s face as he stood and turned to face her. She herself was incredibly irritated already – although her face showed nothing but calm and an obvious sense of superiority – irritated at having to go outside, irritated at being so far from home, irritated at leaving it without a guardian, irritated at having to deal with humans and creatures like them, irritated at Nel at getting her into this situation and irritated at the abundant magic that surrounded her. Cleia was good at hiding irritation though. That was nothing. What she was generally bad at hiding was hate, which was why she thought she was doing a pretty good job at conversing with the thing in front of her, regardless of the fact that since she had said naught but a few sentences, and since he had yet to speak back, one couldn’t really consider it a true conversation. Nel wouldn’t at the very least.

As the boy – Zephyr his file had said – met her with a defiant gaze, she gladly returned it. Trust mortals to act like they’re better than you, regardless of their situation. Silently, she wondered if he would attempt to harm her in any way, or if he might even attempt to kill her. She almost welcomed any attempt that might come from the boy in front of her. ‘Go ahead, try your best,’ her gaze seemed to say. If it weren’t for the fact that the clothes she wore totally hid her scars, they might even have dared him to add to them.

Soon enough, the boy began to speak in answer to her initial comment (which, while more of a statement, had been posed as a question). The answer he gave wasn’t very satisfactory to the girl, and the frown that grew on her face showed it. Before she could make a comment on it though, he continued speaking, as though she had asked him to do so. Wasn’t he supposed to be all obedient or something? Servants in the city she lived in only spoke to their employer if they were spoken to, they never spoke up unsolicited. A slave was lower than a servant. Shouldn’t that mean something? Leia pouted. She didn’t understand this human system at all. People didn’t hire servants who acted out, why would anyone buy a slave that did so? Was that the norm here? Or was he simply stuck here because he couldn’t behave? If the latter was the case, then Leia definitely pegged him as an idiot. She wouldn’t like bowing down to anyone, but at least she would be smart enough to try and do so until she got out of this place who’s spells weighed down so heavily. Oh well, she would probably be his lucky break then, she didn’t want someone who listened to her every word. They wouldn’t be interesting, she would trust them even less for their obedient actions and they might even try to usurp Nel’s place in her heart; that is to say, the only place in her heart for anyone else.

The frown that had appeared on her face at his initial answer at didn’t change in the slightest as he continued to speak. In fact, she almost showed no sign as to having heard him other than to raise an eyebrow. However, as she stood, silently digesting what he had said, it slowly deepened. It wasn’t a frown of anger however, it was a frown of disappointment.”Really?” she finally answered, her tone practically bleeding the sigh it carried, ”I’m beginning to think this goes beyond stupid. Here you are, in a situation I would say was pitiable, if it didn’t reflect the heart of humans and their like so thoroughly, and all you do is continue to promote the company you work for. Looking at your file in that woman’s office, I had thought for a moment that you would be interesting, but obviously I was mistaken. You’re just a brain-dead factory worker, draining the magic out of the world and acting as though work is all there is. Is this really all that becomes civilizations as they evolve?” she paused, a harsh laugh rising to her lips as her eyes narrowed, ”People like you disgust me. Don’t you think about anything other than your precious work? Not by the sound of your words! PLEA this, and PLEA that! PLEA is the expert! Crap, you’re more of a slave to them than the woman who owns this house and you don’t even realize it!” as she spoke, her voice quickly rose in volume, her tone becoming more and more blatantly annoyed until she was all but shouting. Shaking her head, she turned around. ”I was right, this whole endeavor was a mistake. You people aren’t even worth dealing with; I should just leave right now.” And yet, despite what she had said, she didn’t immediately exit the room, instead standing facing the door, her arms crossed. She was supposed to be bringing a companion back with her; Nel had drilled that into her. She only found three people who even seemed to be worth looking at, and this one had seemed the most promising. If this was all he held, then what hope was there with the others?

Shaking her head at the vexation of it all, something suddenly clicked into her head and she turned back to face Zephyr. She was a little nervous of the fact that he sort of knew about Nel, she didn’t like it when people who weren’t them knew anything about them, it never led to good things. Back home, Nel had always been sheltered from it, he had never had to fully bear the brunt of human wrath and fear, but here, with him all alone, that wouldn’t be the case. She didn’t want that for her beloved brother. But now her curiosity needed to be filled. She knew humans and creatures like them, or at least she thought she did and something didn’t make sense to her. ”Why do you even care about shutting this slave place down anyways?” she demanded, her tone much calmer now, ”You can never fully stop places like this. It isn’t possible. You’d have to change human nature to do that, and I know that human nature does not change.” a pause, to let her words sink in, and then: ”And why does your company care anyways? You say they’re the experts on things out of the ordinary, and yet they care so much about a measly slave place? It would be like a laboratory caring about the business a brothel! It doesn’t make sense! The reason that comes to mind would be if there was competition. Is that it? Is PLEA a slave place specializing in the ‘out-of-the-ordinary’ too? The only other thing I can think of would be that they were just trying to get rid of you, and wouldn’t that just be cruel?”

                                                - - - - - -

Nel had certainly been hoping for a friendly reaction from the lady, although he supposed the reaction he got was friendly. She had introduced herself in what he assumed was her native language, and then gave him her name in a language that he knew and could pronounce! That was pretty friendly, at least in his opinion. She hadn’t been rude or snarky either! He did suppose that she could have been a little friendlier though. The introduction had seemed half-hearted, and he got the feeling that she had enjoyed using her native language, probably because she knew that it was grating on the ears, although Nel wasn’t going to say so, that would certainly be rude!

Striding forward, he offered his hand to the woman in the form of a friendly handshake. ”It’s good to meet you Selena! I like your name, it’s pretty, like you! Was that your native language earlier?” he inquired, ”could I ask what it was?”

Before he could continue with his curiosity, the woman cut him off. He thought – hoped – for a moment that she was being friendly and was going to answer his question and maybe be a little… warmer(?) to him, but he found himself disappointed, his eager expression falling somewhat at her angry tone, but not at her words. He let his hand drop to his side and tilted his head, listening to her words, absorbing them even, as though they had no effect on him – which they really didn’t. He opened his mouth a couple times as though to interrupt her, but obviously thought better of it as it always closed with a short frown soon after with no sound having emerged. When Selena eventually stopped talking and turned her attention back to the water in the little pool, when it seemed that Nel might have a chance to speak, he still said nothing, instead tilting his head to the other side as though waiting for something.

Sure enough, Selena once again looked up at him and began to speak. As before, he listened attentively, not saying anything, although this time, his mouth didn’t open once, instead remaining curved upwards in a curious, innocent smile.

It seemed that she was finally finished speaking, but any thought he might of formed about what to say instantly vanished from his mind as Selena lifted her feet from the pool and water dripped off her feet. Watching as the globes of water reconnected with the surface of the pool, an eager grin spread on his face and his eyes sparkled. He was silent for a moment – enough time for Selena to move over to the night-stand and braid her hair – as though trying to process what he had just seen, before he turned his wide eyes towards her. ”You can do magic?!” he inquired excitedly, ”Man, that’s so great! You have no idea how much I miss being about to do magic! I don’t let my sister know of course, she would tease me. Besides, it would probably make her work even harder, and she’s not ready for that, she’d just get the humans angry at her again if she did anything drastic now, and I hate it when that happens.” there was a pout on his face now as he spoke of the common result of interactions between humans and his sister, a pout that said he was worried about her something serious.

He took a short pause, looking expectantly at Selena, almost as though he was waiting for some sort of sign: approval, or encouragement, or even curiosity, who knew. Whatever he seemed to be searching for, he either found it or no longer cared about its presence as he continued. ”You said a whole bunch of things earlier you know.” she stated in a childish matter-of-fact tone, ”I really didn’t know what to say to them, and I kind of wanted to get you to stop, but it seemed like something you had to say, so it only seemed right to let you finish.”

He smiled at her, one that reached his eyes. And not a fake smile either; fake smiles only involved the mouth, real smiles involved the whole face. ”I know for a fact that I’m not anything big enough to be a tycoon, but it certainly was nice of you to say so, although my sister would say that I don’t need my ego fluffed over a bunch of ‘silly machines.’ And you’ve probably guessed, but I’m definitely not an only child! Besides, even before sister lived with me, I always found way to keep myself occupied! I only need help because they apparently occupy me too much and that’s apparently bad for me!.”

He stopped, allowing himself to take a breath as he sat on the floor beside the pool, staring into its waters as though his reflection could give him some sort of answer to Selena’s words. ”You’re certainly not a trophy to me either! I don’t want a trophy, ew! I’ve got plenty of stuff that just sits around because I can’t figure out how to get it working,” – he pouted here – ” I don’t need to buy something for that purpose, and certainly not something living!”

All of a sudden, he stood quickly to his feet, almost losing his balance for a moment before finding his footing. Smiling wide, he offered his hand to Selena again. ”I’m looking for an assistant with my work! My sister is useless in the matter, and besides, she has her own important stuff to do! Would you like to work with me Selena? If you’ve only lived as someone’s prize, then I think you might like it! I do have to warn you though, if you come with me, there’s a good chance that you might never be able to get home, I don’t know when our door might break.”

He was silent for a breath, but before it could lengthen into something that said he was waiting for a response, he suddenly seemed to remember something he wanted to say and spoke up again. ”And as for all this talk about me being someone’s son, and ‘telling daddy’ and what-not, well that’s simply silly! I don’t have parents!” With these final words, spoken in a tone that evidently said he couldn’t care one bit about his parent-less state, he fell silent, letting his offer, and the words that came after it, hang in the air.

Zephyr lowered his head, but not in submission or shame, keeping his eyes on her. They glinted dangerously as the rage, the indigence, flowed through him, causing sharpen to sharpen to emerald green lasers. He had to keep himself in check. Any more and he would possibly lose control of his powers, which, in their act of smashing through the locks that were in this place like a stone through a window, would reduce this entire house into a crater. But how dare she! How dare this woman, whoever she may be, barge in here, start insulting him, and when he spoke of the company that had saved him from the streets, the company that had given him a destiny that didn't involve dying of starvation in an alleyway, a company he owed his life to, she insults him again! "My 'precious' work saves lives. Without the PLEA, without the Templars they sprouted from, magic would run rampant upon this world. People would die by the millions. Places like this would prosper and enslave whoever they wish without little regard. Creatures would do who-knows-what to the innocent, just for fun! And you insult this, because it doesn't fit your standards, your idea! Well, who are you? What in the bloody hell have you done to protect the innocent, huh? You believe yourself a savior or something? You and this Nel kid? The PLEA is the last and only bastion against the forces of chaos, and YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR OUR WORK!" The last phrase came out as a shout, loud enough to echo out into the hall, and louder than Zephyr should have wished. Black smoke wafted from his body as his powers fought, screamed to be let loose, but he calmed them, pushed them back and bid them to be silent. He sighed, realizing he had gotten in the woman's face, and stepped back, looking away bitterly and unclenching his hands. When he looked back up, his face betrayed his emotions: Anger, bitterness....sorrow. It was obvious that he was not happy about losing control like that in front of a stranger. "I.....apologize. I shouldn't have spoken to you like that, even if I do disapprove of your attitude towards me and mine...My captivity here has left me feeling...not myself..." He shook his head, looking away. The blocks on his powers left him unstable. Like a piece of him was missing. It left him feeling...not whole, empty inside. He hated the feeling, and his hate was what hat projected to the woman in his almost violent retort.

After a small silence, Zephyr spoke again. "Me being here goes beyond my work." He said, still not looking at her. "The PLEA is investigating this place because we are unsure of the nature of the magic, and want to make sure it is safe. But for me, it represents everything I hate about humans, about people who exploit others just for their own personal gain. I...want it to be unsafe. I want an excuse to shut this place down..." He shook his head, feeling his personal issues come into this, and pushed them away. "The PLEA is nothing like them. We're a regulation force. Magic is a powerful weapon in the wrong hands, and we fight to make sure it stays out of those wrong hands. We're not a slaving business, we're a law enforcement group. The humans like to think that they shape history, but they don't. Not by a long shot. Every one of their...achievements has so much more to them. We are the real shapers of history. But we cannot allow them to know that, they....cannot comprehend it. Relatively, humans are a young, naive species, and have much to learn...." He trailed off, still not looking at her. "Maybe I won't be able to stop it all. Probably, this place is completely safe. If that's the case, the PLEA has already disowned me and considered me dead. Maybe I'm doomed to be here for the rest of my life until some master comes in to buy me and break me into his personal sex toy. But if you're looking for a fight from me, you won't get one here. I don't know who or what you are, or where you came from, or what you can do. And my powers are blocked. I'm not stupid. If you want to fight me, then buy me already and take me to your home. Or throw the first punch. I'm not so stupid that I won't try to defend myself. But talking s**t about me in here won't get you far." Feeling his manifesto/rant coming to an end, he looked at the woman, giving her a resigned look. He had wasted all his energy on words, and as he said, he wasn't going to start a fight with an stranger, not in this place where he started with a disadvantage. If she truly wanted him to strike, then she would have to confront him on even ground. If she didn't buy him, then he would continue with his planning to escape, and try to find a way out of this room to continue his mission. Though now, there was a lingering...weariness. Maybe this place was safe. If it was...then he was dead to the PLEA. Then what? But if he went with her....no, no. He wouldn't become a slave. If the PLEA disowned him, he would find another career.

And who will remember your last goodbye?

Cause it's the end and I'm not afraid,
I'm not afraid to die.

This was... Different for Drayce. This feeling, this odd feeling. No, it wasn't nerves - he didn't get nervous - but it definitely made his insides wiggle in a most uncomfortable manner. Standing a good few metres away from the manor in the middle of practically nowhere, the violet-haired male simply stared as he tried to figure out what the hell his gut was trying to tell him. Ignoring the wriggling feeling for the time being after exhausting most ideas over what it could be; he wasn't hungry; he definitely wasn't gassy and he really and truly wasn't nervous or worried, Drayce walked up to the entrance. The door to the manor was opened and he was lead inside by a butler. Grinning coyly to himself mostly as he was lead towards some place or room, the dragon remembered a time when people were lead to his family by butlers and the like. Did he miss it? Barely. Sure he liked the small ego trip that came with being a figurehead in society, but it wasn't like it was a nagging longing to be treated that way again. He was quite happy to live without most of those luxuries. The visible luxury though, now that was hard to let go of, and it was quite obvious with his house. Drayce on the other hand looked almost too casual for someone that was rolling in cash. In fact, he looked pretty normal in a simple cardigan and button shirt with dark blue jeans. His shoes were just some basic black laceless things that were quite comfortable and flexible - thank you canvas footwear - not to mention they took very little effort to get off and put on. Hands shoved into his pockets as he wandered his way down, the male looked quite stunned when he realised the butler was waiting for him by an office door. Blinking in surprise, Drayce picked up his pace and entered the office, his violet hair hanging loosely down his back in a basic pony tail.

It wasn't too long afterwards that the dragon was allowed to leave with a list in hand. The dragon hadn't had any interest in taking the folders or noting much past their personality and likes. He wanted to find out things for himself, like their name and other personal information. Depending how easy it was to get the information, or depending how they delivered it would be the spectral dragon's deciding touch. He didn't have a large list, as he wasn't really planning on getting anything today. Drayce really just wanted to see what his options were. He'd answered the questions delivered to him by the pretty little manor mistress, and had been given options according to what he was looking for. Admittedly, the dragon didn't know what he was looking for, as long as it cured his boredom. He wanted someone around to chat with that wasn't some rich businessman bragging about his mistresses or a movie producer bragging about how he was going to write the next big thing. Frankly, it was all getting far too tiresome, and as good as Darcy was - his puppy-dog was basically his child - you just couldn't talk to a dog that didn't have the ability to reply with anything that wasn't a bark, growl or some kind of confused sound. Sure he was mildly skeptical about coming to this place since he didn't need a slave (he had a cleaner that came to his house every second day), and he cooked all his own foods (raw steak wasn't hard to make), so this whole 'slave' business seemed weird to him. Okay sure he'd grown up with the idea of slaves and how they were used - his family was royalty after all - but this new industry seemed... Different. It seemed that slaves were being used for more purposes than just taking care of their masters.

His suspicions were confirmed when the first slave was revealed to be a pleasure slave. Rolling his eyes as she tried her best to get him interested in her, he just wasn't into it. As appealing as a woman was when she threw herself at him, Drayce just wasn't into that. Where was the fun? Leaving her without a care, the second slave was just as boring to him. A male, and a quiet one at that. He wasn't too concerned with being in the slavery, and he was equally as unconcerned with Drayce's decision to leave him barely two minutes after walking in. This was just really boring, and that weird feeling was still in his stomach! Looking to his list, he only had a few more to visit, but the last one seemed to make his stomach feel weirder. She'd been a last minute suggestion by the mistress of the manor, a sort of "just in case" option because she wasn't like other companion slaves. Going with his wriggling gut, Drayce made his way to the room with the help of a guard. As they got closer, the wriggling began to become less uncomfortable and more acceptable, and the feeling only got more interesting after the guard knocked on the door and opened it a few moments later (Drayce wouldn't have been so polite unfortunately). Walking in expecting disappointment, the dragon was indeed surprised when the first thing he noticed was one of his colour obsessions - red. The second thing he noticed was that she was easy on his eyes which was a huge bonus. The final thing was that she had an air about her that reminded him of his family. Not the whole dragon aura - he would have claimed her on the spot if that was the case - but it was the aura of a magic user. An ancient magic user, one that had been around for a number of years like himself. There were few creatures he could pick that shared this aura, and while he was positive she wasn't a water-based creature, he couldn't define if she was an earth creature or fire. Or wind for that fact, she just had something about her that was confusing his mind and exciting his gut further. He wanted to know more about this one, and not just walk away immediately. This one seemed different. And in a purely innocent fashion, he managed to hit the most unlikely nail on the head with his gentlemanly introduction; old habits died hard after all, and changing the way you addressed beautiful women was one of them.
"What a pity to cage such a pretty bird up. Won't you tell me your name, fair lady?"
Ah, there was that feeling in his gut again, causing him to smile. And finally, it all clicked.
                  He was feeling anticipation.

The fact she looked human was probably what kept most people from really having much to do with her. Anyone who came to this section of the mansion was usually looking for something more exotic, more mysterious, more beautiful and flashy than something that looked like a mere human who'd gotten lost and accidentally put there. So Aine had plenty of free time on her hands, but she wasn't sure what to do with it. It was boring, to be honest, and there wasn't anyone to keep her company but Herbert, who sat on the bed and looked at her with big platypus eyes as if chiding her. The phoenix was by the window – locked and barred, as if she could escape anyway – and ignored him for now. While part of her was relieved no one was bothering with her, as she really didn't give a damn about anyone else other than herself and Herbert, the phoenix was also growing a bit offended. Didn't they realize what she was, couldn't they see she was special? It was nagging at her and she was honestly beginning to wonder just how long she might be stuck in this place until someone decided she'd make a good pet. Well, whoever wanted her for a pet was going to be quickly corrected.

She was bored and usually when Aine was bored, she set things on fire. But having this damn collar inhibiting her magic was making her even crankier and she snapped her fingers at a lamp. Normally it would go up in flames, but of course nothing happened now. Always chafing under servitude, she was ready to rip the head off of whomever came in there next, just because she could. While she wasn't normally so vicious, the phoenix had no idea when she was going to be free from this place and it was making her far more irritable than her already-fiery disposition did to start with. “No one loves me but you, Herbert,” she said with a sigh, looking over to the stuffed platypus sitting on her pillow. It had obviously seen better days, despite her efforts to keep him safe and prevent wear and tear. He was about a hundred now, a testament to how careful Aine could be with something she truly loved – and it was a bit pathetic the stuffed platypus was the only thing left that she did. His eyes didn't match, one of them a different button to replace a missing one, and his tail was a bit chewed on. That had been when she had been reborn and was a baby, although she'd never admit she used her precious platypus for teething. As usual, he just looked back at her in silence and she sighed. Normally she was content with just him for companionship, but she realized that normally she had the option of going out, of doing things, of setting people on fire and talking to ones she didn't. Stuck in this room, she was going stir-crazy.

When someone came in, Aine whirled around and froze when she realized what he was. “A spectral dragon?” she realized, her eyes growing wide. She had only met one or two over her years, but instantly recognized his aura. Her own normally confused most things, as she saw it flit in his gaze – a phoenix was born from earth and ash, made of fire and used the wind to control their abilities, so she was of all three elements, something that amused some of her masters when they tried to figure out a weakness. Watching him carefully, her own eyes widened when he called her a 'pretty bird'. Partly out of offense, partly in surprise. Did he...no, it was a lucky choice of words, she realized. He had no clue what she was. Oh, this might be fun! “My name is Aine,” she told him, just glad he hadn't caught her snuggling Herbert. He was handsome, very much so, and she eyed him curiously.
